and a quarter miles or the hammer beds and action areas that turn one the horseshoe into the breaking four turn 11 and 12 the old oak tree corn is coming down Madison Avenue and then up a little hill before you drop down at turn 40 in the roller coaster then try and get off turn 17 the hog pen as well as you can onto that front straight which isn't quite a strip that's just a little bend in it lots of people here the car parks are full people have been flooding in since 7 o'clock this morning even as we were coming in getting ourselves setting up there was a good line expect it is ready to come into the circuit hello everybody its M Ceridian mgtv together for 2014 minutes of the weathertech sportscar championship at Virginia this is round number at 10 of the WeatherTech sport car championship or at least generally speaking we've got two more rounds set to go after this one a couple of different championships still in play it's the penultimate round of the Sprint championship which will finish off ad at WeatherTech risks we are going to see it next time out and we'll bring you up to date with that when we're next on the air but for now we're concentrating on this GT battle it's a festival of Grand Touring the Michelin GT challenge the cars are rolling behind the Nissan GTR safety car great to have your company from wherever you are around the world here at the track or further afield let's check in with Allen that makes you a first of all we've got an empty pit layer that we do and it was an interesting pit lane in terms of the car coming in to get gritted for our fan walk because people were playing the fuel game even early on then and also playing the fuel game Patrick Lindsay when he pulled out of the pit lane to do his recon lap he didn't turn the car on until he was underneath the starter state he actually came to a complete stop so everybody worried about fuel consumption everybody planning right now for an all green race and they are already thinking about those dreaded fuel numbers couple of story share at the back of the GTD food a little bit of a shuffle around but not much some people caught out by not reading the rulebook qualifying yesterday exactly there was never an indication given that you could use any tires except for the slick michelin's we had five teams that elected to go out and qualify on wet weather tires in changeable conditions while a backfired on them to begin with anyway because they wound up the slowest five cars on the grid but they were then moved and reorganized based on their declaration to change tires for today's race so we have five cars starting on brand new slick michelin's but as we heard from Zach Robuchon the pole sitter at GTV in the Michelin countdown to green he thinks it'll be about five laps that those cars will have the advantage and then everybody will even out once more at the front of the frail the GT the more cars the factory cars this is a--honey ground for pretty much all the manufacturers you can't make a case for any one of Porsches Chevrolet or Ford or BMW winning here because they've all had their time in the Sun here over relatively recent yes well they have in terms of the series yes but for Virginia International Raceway that is one of the very few tracks on the calendar of which Ford has not won in the time of this program so for the Ford GT a last opportunity question mark for the foreseeable future for that car to claim victory the 66 starting with Dirk Miller behind the wheel the 67 with Ryan Briscoe Ryan qualified third and changing conditions they could be sneaky to watch especially if it turns into a fuel game because Westie finishing it up in his shoes Sean they're a little bit pink yes he has a very light foot when required Richard Westbrook and we talked about his pink fluffy slippers that he needs to drive when that's happening he can't start the decide to save fuel halfway through his stint it's got to be a tactic that you take from the beginning and Richard Westbrook well he could do the equal part of the EcoBoost Ford engine equating very well indeed remember that a few years ago at Laguna Seca in fact confounded everybody up and down the pit lane by not taking a second pit stop or a last pit stop when everybody thought well he's gonna be five or ten that short maybe he's gonna be four or three laps it's not the stop is he and that was four words per his for him that they took by that so he can be extremely abstemious when it comes to using the gorgeous in that Ford three and a half liter engine and we're forming up now behind the safety car let's hope we don't see that too often the good news is that the white or the green spaces tend to mean that people get a little bit of grass in the grills and have to call it the pit lane and that's it's a penalty but it's tends to keep the safety crews off the circuit it wouldn't be beyond the bounds of expectation for us to call full green for the whole two hours and 40 minutes take a deep breath everybody get yourselves ready to go shuffle up to the edge of the track if you're here at vir if you're further afield get yourself comfortable not too comfortable because the excitement is about to peak in two hours and 40 minutes for the episode WeatherTech sportscar championship the Michelin GT challenge at vir with Porsche and Corvette on the front row Lorentz factor a poor position from Yan Magnuson then raw to the to Ford's Ryan Briscoe in the 67 and the 66 team car is Joey hunt will they have a little bit of team tactics and track put off the people in front or behind them it's a super lineup from all 21 of these grand Turing machines in GT lamorne and GT tier torna and who is going to be waving the flag well it's not our grand marshal in set gyms it's the Michelin Man himself Beebe and over a hundred years he's looking pretty tidy for his years and we are under way with the second of the Porsches Nick Tandy coming around the outside and coming all the way in the second position at the Horseshoe Waters start from Nick Tandy that was from sixth position he was at South Boston speed where last night watching the lip models in fact he got a fulfill a childhood dream by making the command for drivers to start their engines he's learned something there clearly with a short track background in his early career tanti off the line absolutely superb start Jeremy Shaw and drops in behind the championship leading 912 car which started from poor position like a rocket from a gun on rocket from the pod rather absolutely brilliant bright under yeah incredible I mean look but hopefully it wasn't too aggressive there are too fast off the mark there because to go leap around there and three cars to move up in the second place that is pretty remarkable but it was a great son also bye-bye Launchpad tour it's not like yank Magnus had a good jump there he's going into the first corner so really surprised to see he met I'll topple that first corner by thickening I mean just perfect timing from Tandy he was right up in the wheel tracks to the gearbox of Joey how does he kids do it oh and that's that's a great confidence booster going three right round the outside of three cars that's a great confidence booster for Tandy qualified six will end the first that can set its position well we talked John on the warm-up laps get your tires up to tip and make sure you're ready to go there look almost look like the Fords wanted to play nice to each other a little bit and Tandy took advantage of that that Lane was open to the outside and that's the great thing about the start here at vir you can get grip on the outside here I love starting to race here because you can move so many different places inside outside still get grip they also look like you found plenty of grip grab the outer most of the cushion the user to user a dirt track expression grab the outside of the horseshoe where people don't normally cook the course we had a lot of running there because of the damp conditions we've had over the last couple days yeah so he got great power down with the Porsche with the rear-engine car and accelerated right out there and they're actually pulling away a little bit Magnussen here not all good news through the field chair Adam because there's been a problem for one of the cars further back down the field at the gt2 torn at part of the race the number 12 being driven by Frankie Montecarlo the investor Sullivan Lexus through with damage that the team just had him crew member run out to the walls check he is going to be pitting this time around they have four new Michelin tires laid up on the wall this was not one of the teams that got the entire compound wrong yesterday for qualifying so Frankie will benefit with new tires but they're gonna do fuel and check the damage first because clearly something went wrong it looked like those in for John there was a bit of carbon there like flying pretty high up into the air and I couldn't tell what car was offered well now the mystery is solved that is sitting on the racetrack at the moment the question is is it online or offline and will wrest control be looking at that that car we looking at there kind of a 12 that also lost out big time on that start it started in the second position is GTD it came across the line in a lot of places on that the first time so it might be a truck missing from the back left rear corner perhaps don't tell me the two Lexus came together in the early laps and Andy Douglas is killed cause he looked in the South of France watching and listening to him Ceridian MCTV enjoy your time down there Andy and settle in for what is going to be an absolute cracker live from trackside he Simpson radio and mgtv together and the second Lexus is coming in so that's both Lexus has come have come in within a couple of laps of each other we've had the 14 and the 12 into the pit lane Adam it's not the 14 John it's the 57 caterpillar car as the 12th pulls to a stop there is grass of the radiator and they are running to clear that out verse oh it's pretty well wedged in there actually they're gonna have to take part of the bumper off to make sure that the car doesn't overheat they have put a little bit more fuel into it and the crew members have elected not to change the tires they don't want Frankie to go down a lap so they cleared out the grill and sent him once more but there's still more damage to that car particularly at the rear so that could have been an incidence of one running into the other we've seen that before think back to Sebring well it looked like a little bit of maybe it was air or push from me the Lexus was the contact there was something thrown up by Owen trick there was watching very carefully but going up those edges these cars do require a little bit of downforce on the front end and when you're going in the karna sprayed it's absolutely flat up is that you get slightly out of sync you're gonna find the grass very quickly no yarn that was down south Bennett turned ten the fast left-hander it's probably just it's down to gear just a light brush of the brakes as you come through there and you start to lose the nose a little bit as you crest over the hill going down towards oak tree so it looks like you just got off in the grass we talked about the consequences here if you go off you put grass on the radiator here and that's gonna you've got to come in the pit or stop and throw the grass off the radiator and what's missing is something from the back of that Lexus it's born of the vertical streaks in the under tree the diffuser that's behind the rear bumper and the rear axle of that car note that probably doesn't sound too disastrous but you can awful lot of the aerodynamic downforce that pushes the car onto the ground from those diffusers at the back of the car Alex I want to say that it's free downforce but it's considerably more efficient downforce than sticking a home in create wing up and putting it at 45 degrees on the back of the car so that will make a difference to how that Lexus handles particularly in the faster part of the circuits certainly I've had an incident where somebody knocked a bit of a diffuser off on a little prototype that I was racing and you can't figure that immediately point and that that make the big issue for Lexus is they've had issues with their rear tire where earlier in the season anywhere anywhere that's not gonna do them any favors on that either no especially not I mean I think I saw that at mid-ohio they had some issues with that that's not I mean it's important here because there's not that many slow turns here coz I mean it's just the high speed stuff that they're gonna feel that affect mainly already down to just over 10 minutes completed Jeremy Shaw oh and drink that and meet John hind off in the MSHA broadcast center with Cher Adam patrolling the pits for us third then the two Ford GTS 66 from 67 and those top five within five seconds of each other in GT t from poor position Zachary Robuchon crossed the line now in the blood Porsche behind him Trent Hinman goes through answer just on eight tenths of a second deficit Richard high stats had a great start the number fourteen Alexis bright yellow car in third position of on four seconds further back and he's got Spiros full and Rami fully in the number 96 BMW then it's the Lamborghini of Corey Lewis he's been quick all weekend here in the 48 Paul Miller car behind him Matt plum in the McLaren week or in said watch Marty's already made his way through the field to 8th position in GT - yeah he's following Corey Lewis cause Cory Lewis was quickest at the cars yesterday that qualified on the wet weather tires so all those five cars started at the back so Cory was ahead of Matt and he's both take that position and hold his way all the way up through the field there from 17th position overall I had authority to made up four positions in the first few laps of this race the fastest lap therefore our race leader launched that tour one minute forty one point five five lap record jus Carlo Guzzi Keller a Ferrari that was set back in 2017 the fastest lap of the race last year interestingly was Earl Bamber are also well ill Berber in the Porsche I want 42.6 for second quicker than that yeah that's impressive hasn't always been the case for the GT LaVon cars this year the GTD is going quickly to Adam has an answer of why the MSX NSX sorry Emma sorry into the pit lane after sustaining a puncture after being hit from behind by the 96 Turner motorsport BMW so that's why she came into the pit lane it was not related to the Lexus no indeed it will be close on the track but not that's close so orange drink that the excitement the adrenaline and all of the Maki's more of the the start of the wrist now has died down a little bit now the time to get into your rhythm and start pounding out those laps yeah you want to start now we're just 10 minutes in Jon so we're trying to find a comfortable position and start saving some fuel here trying to find yourself Donny now already yeah you get if you're not in a battle you want to start maybe start thinking about that with your strategist you Steve saves the pressure yeah if you're if you're not under pressure there's no reason you know to keep burning all the fuel if you're not moving forward so I bet a couple these cars were playing that game the one in mind is I'm thinking about we just had a screenshot of his Trent hitman he's got no pressure from behind he's got the leader in front of them and so he can definitely he's in the best position to start saving fuel so that was Owen twinklet fourth position will be able to see that in full in a week of sauce time on insert dot TV and now we're settling in for the long run here just under two and a half hours still to go the two Porsches out in front and Lawrence vanta is putting in a very good lap here setting sail for the hills that's the championship leader remember first second that the drivers championship our first and second on the track at the Mormon and that would say although the butter factories championship as well if it's dead like that and that'd be a huge sigh of relief with the two driving squads if that was the case because then they'll be allowed to fight for the drivers championship at the moment as you might imagine porsche are very interested in securing the manufacturers championship in GT LeMond they've all put dunnock in fairness but mathematically it's not there so the t-shirts can't be got out yet Jamie I think it is actually because they've got a nice start at this race you're down they've started this race exactly yeah there they a 21-point lead the differential from first to fourth who's manufactures even if the first one to the third base car gets second place points so the worst that they could do his fourth position assuming they started to the races if for duty that affords us to this second right now won all the races the both take a makeup is 21 points then they will be tied on points but Porsche would have five wins to the actually to the five for people to have to go celebrate second place finishes and that is where poetry with clinches oh it's nice oh and if you're battling against your teammates to have the shackles taken off because obviously Porsche in fact all of the manufacturers into to evolve what the win the manufacturers championship to get that sticker he'll be very happy with that and at that point you know you know don't run in here take minutes put at that point it's always the shackles come off a little bit let's go race let's go race which one makes the best team wins or the best car wins or the best driving pair wins here and I you know we were talking about saving fuel ID and we're looking at GT Bluemont class right now that definitely the Porsches are not saving fuel right now you can see that there you know leader just ran a forty one two so they keep resetting that fastest time it's cool here there's the sun's beat down the track but it's cool temperatures the engines are really liking this temperature right now how quick does this surface respond to getting a bit of direct sunshine Sun it's not brand new tarmac and it's been laid down a little while you can see from the the tarmac that the surface color it's quite a light colored grey and sometimes that takes a little more time to heat up whether there's even when this direct Sun on it not not too bad John I mean we did a test here in April that the conditions are almost like they are today this is the perfect condition for this track just enough tire you know temperature in the track but the engines like this coolness here that we got you can set some really fast times here it was definitely the BMW that's hit the back of Ellis Powell's and Hess Exantus some damage they're causing the puncture that will be being looked at I'm sure by risk risk control put early Mittman took in the opening laps sometimes you get a little more leeway than others but definite points out there between those two cars which is brought Alice Paul into the pit lane but she's running in 12th position got out ahead of Frankie Monte Calvo his own problems and it's all about reeling the laps off now for the British driver in that number 57 NSX there was a victory all the night for the driver the Chiefs that taken the place of whom whose place heat has taken to get that on right see the damage on the left rear as it goes through turn number three and four christina nielsen winning her class at Suzuka in the endurance race there at the weekend so chalk one of vicariously at least two MS are at that fifty 17 it tries to be that teams have absolutely doesn't aside at this this year whatsoever anything that can't go wrong has gone wrong it tooks it frustrating everything for Catherine like you you came here with huge expectations after a fabulous season in 2018 so you know she's it's gonna be an uphill battle from here with that extra bit stop falling half a minute behind the rest of the field it's gonna be a battle but you know they're gonna fight as hard as they can as they always do I'm just reminded by cher a dirt in my headset here it was almost diametrically opposite last year Jeremy where the other car that's now fighting for the championship had no look through the and it was Catherine in the 57 car who was barley for the chairman racing karma I don't know how superstitious are our racing drivers when you're on a run of bad luck or and how do you break out out of that little black cloud sometimes that said that silver that taught me I'm asking you right now we went from the polar opposite so the season we had last year worst finish was eight and now we just had our second top five was yesterday and how many races we end this year you just got to keep digging him you just can't get frustrated and we talked a little bit after our victory in Lime Rock you and I we probably bonded tighter during this struggle that we've had even last year when we were winning as a team because you got a you got to stay tight together and not start pointing fingers at each other so in these moments here you got to stick together I just voted other Corvette team they've had the same sore thing over the last several years hump day that number three car has a great season there were 40 mats as bad like there are and vice versa it seems like you can't say that they can't turn out too because when you look at the lap times of the three in the four car or any of these cars prepared by the top teams they're within milliseconds of each other it's just one of those things that seems to have an important erasing the sometimes isn't a logical answer for it at the front of GTD tournay de pinna copybook start for zachary Robuchon but Trent hinman is just biding his time and just now beginning to take a wee bit of time out of the lead it closes down that time around it just under the 3/4 of a second between the accurate number 86 has a black and pink car and the plaid Porsche behind them the bars continue with the cars coming up from the back of the field look Cory Lewis now up to fifth position and closing down on the BMW of Robbie for Lee who had dr. incident earlier on with the rear of the NSX now of behind the 14 of Richard hi Stan he's done a cracking job earlier on Richard now he's a little bit caught in the pole and he's got one two three four five cars including the McLaren just coming up behind him and he's good at once once again the BMW is doing a bit of bump and run and he doesn't come on he's pushed to three cars and then we spin there now that all started with the 96 BMW getting in to the back of the Lexus number 14 of Richard heist and then it looked a sore Cory Lewis in the 48 was gonna be on the ticket Vantage then he got sideways through has gone the McLaren but they've all lost ground there and the one that's ribbing out like a bandit really is Ben Keating who picked his way through all that and it's made up a couple of three positions at Patrick Lynn seems made up a bit of ground as well and I'm hearing from sheer Adam that we can Harbor a pizza from one of those cars Robby fully will be visiting me in the pit lane they've got four sticker Michelin tires up on the wall so Robby's kind of getting fuel new tires and it is not yet time for Bill power yeah at that cars moving very slowly right rear pump sure I think on the oh is it more than that no it is just a puncture just a puncture on that that was the contact in this year that took both corners now of the Turner BMW have had contact with cars in front and Robby will be getting frustrated having to drive slowly you can't drive slow enough really when you've got a bit of rubber trying to break away and it has done right on Madison Avenue now where's it gonna end up yeah it has to go off the track it has to roll off the track otherwise we're under full course yellow and if you're watching this down in the pit lane you want to bring you guys in yeah let's show your probably get really busy here it's going to get really really busy who gets the opportunity the leaders are just coming down the backstraight and how to avoid that can they get in the pit lane before the yellow comes out too early in the road it's still worth taking a free pit stop thought full course caution is out full course caution is out and nobody's got that coming that means Robbie for Lee will come in to a closed pit lane they'll be allowed to change that one rear tire under emergency service and send him back out but then he'll have to pit again once we got back to green 2022 minutes still to run here at VI our first full course caution for some debris on the circuit that means that we can take a little bit of a breather and Porsche will be cursing that because they built up a decent lead already the this untighten vir track services vehicle which has been very busy pulling people off wet grass this weekend has picked up the carcass of the Michelin tire so fall he runs into the back of heist and gets checked up Cory Lewis tries to go around the outside they both lose it in Spain and somehow the McLaren manages not to get turned around and masterful avoidance by Ben Keating who got on the bricks and picked his way through that and folly has made his way or that was contact with the McLaren I didn't I thought he'd managed to get through that but the Plumber carrot Clare indeed get a touch for lease back in the pit Lynch it's got up he won't tire oddly hey that's all it was the Turner motorsport crew signalling very early on one tire only no fuel put the nozzle down don't take a chance on it and he is already back out on the track but as he said John he will have to come back in and serve that emergency service penalty yeah looks like he's gonna lap down - that's annoying just took him out right behind it looks like the second first second place cars of GTD so very irritating for those guys I wonder whether actually the GCD leaders were told get on it and try and put that car lap down because 96 car has been there superfast good snow got a really good strong Astra good streak or of results they're running second in the in the overall championship with four podiums in a row including that win a little earlier on so it's as bad news for that team but it was all caused by the fact number 14 car was really struggling he was falling back by pretty much a second a lap to the two leaders that's Richard hi Stan in the Lexus car at the 14 and they all kind of bottled up behind him no action for the initial compact contact there between Robbie for lien Richard high start so that car that those two cars will be allowed to continue good news Alice Powell here at the front Frank Calvo has he dropped it he's on the the GTD lead lap so he'll get the wave-around okay find him so he will come back up a good news for Alice Powell who was the recipient of the bump and run and the puncture caused by the BMW earlier on on her Acura she'll get to come round back to the back of the field pits are now almond for GT Lomond two hours and 18 minutes to go that's a hundred and thirty-eight minutes what do we reckon these cars can do on fuel Jeremy 45 50 minutes for the GT lamont cars yeah yeah 50 50 minutes or so certainly that's a little bit better than if they if they are really a fuel saving mode well Nick Tandy apparently according the read your traffic is big saving fuel like a Mack man out of there gonna bring me 911 in are they gonna leave Nick Tandy out there everybody's coming in in GT Lamar Nick Tandy has been saving like crazy for example when everybody was told to fire up their engines he did not he waited until it was his turn to roll off the grid and then there was a puff of white smoke from behind the Porsche as is normal and that Nick Tandy started rolling and both Porsches into the pit lane Nick Tandy will stay here Patrick pilet has been called pawnees up on the wall he's doing his stretches no other gtlm drivers to my eyesight are going to be doing the same first cars that will hit their box will be the two BMWs and then the two Corvettes is the two ports over by everybody's in already fuel and tires for the number 67 Ford GT no driver change there or it for the 66 for the 25 BMW fuel and tires 24 is getting exactly the same service 3 and 4 feel the tires by Corvette Racing let's see if new 9 12 3 4 Corvettes then it's the 66 Ford GT then the 67 then the 24 BMW and finally its 25 that is the advantage of a Nick Tandy saving field that is nicked Andy's right foot that allowed the 911 get going first spot on share exactly right the determining factor in how long you're standing still is always the fuel because she can change the tires and the drivers or drink there very quickly indeed they clearly didn't weren't gonna need a full fuel Lord there and if Nick Tandy sieve just a little bit of fuel then the fuel horse comes off quicker at the cars down quicker and they're aware there is another point of that they may have elected to slightly short fuel the 911 just to get that track positions to get the track position area correct John but it doesn't take much you can save just a little bit of fuel because we're limited when we do a full fuel everybody has to run to a certain number of seconds correct in each class so yeah if you can save a little bit of fuel and make that fuel flow you know be finished and be able to get out ahead of your competition that's unbelievable when we have the cycle come for GTD I'm gonna be interesting to see because I don't know what the tire limit was for GTD for this race but if I might just does fuel only so six sets of tire so depend on what they did you know with the rain that we've had earlier in the week from these sales they selected put tires on here somebody just through the field does those feel lonely to get track position here less than half a tank of fuel on board these cars so yeah it's pretty pretty sharp work to change a driver in that amount of time and four tires yeah yeah Todd yeah the detector that's produced pretty straightforward to get driver change done is I think it's for me the most impressive part of their practice a lot these guys guys like whippets aren't there they are really live it'd be different if I was having to jump in and out of there it's still the 911 Porsche you would still be sitting there right now take your time now to take your time I'd still be there right now fantastic stuff as we have all the JT naman teams running Porsche Chevrolet a Ford and BMW and all in the right numerical order 911 from 9 12 3 from 466 from 67 at 24 25 all's right with the world had him back down at the pit lane I presume it looks like all of the GT D's will come in as well space we still have yet to get the cars all the way back around both of us are Acuras are gonna be coming in though the Turner motorsport BMW coming back in to do their full service we've got faff well that's sort of leaning on the wall they they look casual I think Robuchon stayed out yes he did Zack did not commit ok so we've got the Acura the BMWs the ok getting traced it out the WeatherTech car stayed out goes to GTG Alexis is coming in too we've got an issue with the fuel probe attaching to the 14 Lexus it was very recalcitrant to get going everybody down in the pit out to end of the pit lane is now in they are doing fuel and tires for the Turner motorsport BMW and both of the MSR Acuras fuel only for the 14 and it is the first one to get back going but of course no new tires on that car first to the tire changers to get underway 33 Riley Mercedes that is bent Keating he will fall back in the line behind the 86 who also got new tires then the 73 Park Place Porsche pops up nd making up a ton of spots and Alice Powell in the 57 the next car to get back going it is then Magnus racing in their Lamborghini then we have the McLaren or compass racing the 74 Mercedes is back out Cory Lewis dropped a bunch of positions on that one he is now just ahead of the Turner Motorsports BMW and I can tell you why she had to come in at an angle around the McLaren and he didn't quite get close enough to the wall I think they struggled to get the fuel probe in on that Paul Miller racing Lamborghini that was the team that won the championship in teams and drivers last year and nothing they could do that at all they had to pull around the front of the number 76 compass McLaren Matt plum still aboard that guy in fact I don't think we saw any driver changes there no we didn't because they haven't reached their drive time in gt2 it only yet yeah there is a minimum drive time in GTD there isn't in gtlm effective in at this stage and the rest now number 96 car been unfortunate for them that the one of the cars that didn't come in was the leader as a crow Robuchon because that means the number 96 car was behind that on the racetrack one lap down to the leaders if the number nine and card coming in with everybody else that would have enabled a 96 car to go past take up position behind the safety car then before we weren't back to green it would be waved around a safety car to come around to the back of the pack and potentially then make a pit stop before we go green or not but as it is now it remains one lap down to the leader in GTD I own if r5 actually decided to do that to keep the 96 off the lead lap because they might think that that car is still with two hours and 12 minutes left to put themselves off strategy from everyone else that's an interesting tactic yeah I mean it's certainly one of the factors to consider because as we've already talked about number 96 car is fast and has been on the podium each last four races including a win but also in though Indian WeatherTech Sprint Cup the GTD Zachary couch or inanimate icon leads the points in that a championship and a number 96 car it's 15 points behind the drivers won't be falling bill Overland so you're very much in contention there so the the focus for number 9 car is to get as many points for rubra short as they can we're going back to crane shortly I know that because the GT did 200 cars are being asked to to slow a little bit and allow the GT lamont cars back to the front of the field this is what's called the class split so the faster GT lamont cars go back at the front of the field it's still the two Porsches at the front of the field but this time it will be Patrick peeling who will it lead them to the green ahead of Lawrence van to the pole-sitter then the two Corvettes Olly Gavin made up some time in the pit stop there and we're going back to gray the two Porsches indoors at tail across the line and it looks to me so far - it wants to make a bit of it back after this damage the turn he can't go all the way around the outside is linked and he did early on but the two Porsches are racing they were almost touching I think the deep touch in between turns two and three my goodness me not team orders here 911 Patrick peel it leading from the 912 things to our first and second in the driver's championship and young Magnussen must be legally he's beat he was well and truly dropped at the start but these two battling is allowed the number three Corvette to half the distance between them off at turn three has gone the number 44 the Magnus racing car that restarted ninth position for eighth position into teeter-totter for John Porter he's back on the circuit Thor just got a bit of a grassy moment the howl of the flat-six going up towards on three beds and the two Porsches then remain as they were at the restart or won't drink that nor team orders there this looks like the battle for the driver's championship is heating up righty and never mind what's going on in the manufacturers no that was unbelievable start there you know P ladies first couple laps in the car right here so looks like Dan Troy who's trying to put a move on him he got great grip coming on the inside out of the horseshoe you can really get a really good job there and he did but it's tough to pick up acid the NASCAR you know turn three air in the NASCAR turn on the outside that's where he was positioned for and they almost make contact we got a little loose there through a rollercoaster there big slide for Patrick PETA that coming down the hill but these two Porsches they look awfully stout they been quick in the wet and the dry and once again here there edging away already from the Corvettes but laughing because that factor is flashing at his team and the later Patrick Bailey good battle going on for third fourth and fifth the two Corvettes in the first of the Fords the red white blue for two T of joy we had the number 66 car so hard to closing in on the two Corvettes in that GM for battle looking very interesting indeed with the two BMWs just behind the second for this is a much closer spread in the restart than we had at the start of the race where the TT LaVon forgot brother store Nate still got more than two hours two hours and nine minutes there enough here and there's plenty of inter team battling going on here particularly at the front of the field in GT d great restart by Zack we will be shadows pulled that a second 1/2 from Cooper McNeil that Richard hi start in the Lexus or that's 9 from 63 from 14 then the Acura of Trent hitman Alice Powell is up to 6th position after a great turnaround by the MSR team and she is right behind Ben Keating in the number 33 Mercedes AMG gt3 so we'll catch it with those bottles in a little while but at the front of the field Porsche Porsche Corvette Corvette for Ford BMW BMW then the cam back to the leading Porsche in the GT t and Bek Keating sitting in that fifth position has a whole train of cars beginning to close down Ben's been driving out of his skin recently particularly in the qualifying session Jeremy and he'll be a big piece next year as will the team when they head off to the WEC race for Porsche with project what yes bit of a surprise to see been racing a Porsche certainly but they will but he's been driving absolutely superb this season did them much like yesterday in the qualifying session but other than that he'll be driving actually super be to Lewis at driving super banana daiquiri rubbish run look at the gap he's already pulled out McNiel and the rest of the field he's got less fuel on board obviously in at number nine cannot stop life during that time period but still he's running a really really good pace trent him and cannot find a way defensive driving there from from i said he just does not want at the acura to come past the 14 car has got the old tires on so they just did feel lonely and tripped up trying to take advantage of those new michelin tires here in the first five to ten laps here and see if we can get by him a rich is doing his job here or because he's trying to keep that car in contention for when he hands it over to his teammate he's got to be careful cuz he can't move in reaction to what the car behind us if he wants the position he's car so well the track he's got to make that decision and stick with it and if the accurate behind of course a little bit one way or the other he can't they've moved drive it down the middle of the road I'll take the defensive line if he does that early enough that's fine that's fine yeah as long as he's not reacting to what Trent's doing behind him Trent's got a good draft here as we come down Madison Avenue into rollercoaster here and see if he tries to make a brink of maneuver as we get to rollercoasters we've got a really good draft on the Lexus say what the Lexus is pretty quick in a straight line yeah and comes out of the dry and Richard Heiser didn't even gently grazing them with his hand just trying to figure out what the deal was so maybe just maybe Tandy and pilla learned something by studying the tires at their sister garden to put different compounds pretty much on each corner they've got three compounds on the GT the GT cars have to see Ben Keating within behind him Hugh plot that immaculately prepared Hugh I know you'll be watching and listening somewhere smashing drive from you teammate yesterday by the way out of he's on to moved he's the bastard GT car that last lap so he is definitely on the move here making ground up McCleary a win snatched from them yesterday it would be great to see these 720 get up the field Jeremy in of just a moment put the Turner cars back in the pit lane this is the BMW to the back you said sure and it is doing a stop and hold penalty for coming in to fulfill its penalty for emergency service on the wrong the pit sequence it should not have come in with all the other GT cars so it's stationary in the pit box for ten seconds now Robbie Foley is able to leave but the team did have a long discussion with the pit officials to learn what they did wrong for future times yeah absolutely but it could be another first grade flag laughs for that sorry Jeremy two minutes two hours two minutes and 57 seconds to go yeah I've gonna say that Matt Matt flood in the compass McLaren he goes way past Alice Powell after restart as did Corey Moo essentially a lap or two afterwards so plot now back up to sixth position in the class Gordon Lewis the seventh in another 48 Lamborghini terrific the big Gator there were rich Tyson had a great pit stop to get out ahead of Trent hitmen certainly taking full advantage of that and meanwhile fit Keating he's hanging right with that little groups we got two five cars well five cars certainly in a pretty tight train there that several others not too far behind either it's almost looking like the caution before he had the car should sort of this group right here is going at it again Adams are in your 20 if you'd like to get in touch keeping McNeill with that cars fastest lap of the race last time around that's his number 63 Ferrari as he sits in second place in GT detour and the two leaders are just getting away a little bit I think that exactly what Michonne will be delighted with what's going on behind the Lexus at the moment one two three four five cars or in a line and now maybe there's an opportunity for the Acura and for Trent hitman to get through we've to the left and the right through the horseshoe now into turn three and Keating's because Merritt did change tires so I think all those guys that changed and put new michelin's on that's where they have the advantage but you almost can't pass there it's so tough to pass there you got to do it clean so Trin is definitely getting frustrated at this point and so you just got to make sure he sets him up and tries to get a good Drive out of the horseshoe and sets him up get into turn three you're down to turn four it's got a good run across the line here as their head down towards turn one and to the horseshoe this time as we're almost bang on to our still to God still the two Porsches leading pilla from Lawrence Vata and a new faster start this time to Lawrence fan saw in the second place Garland's again a new track record the first time in a race conditions that the anybody has gotten us up at 1 minute 41 a pass for position there but still Hinman cannot find a way past Alexis outside action and the poor bird through has just el borde through on the McLaren and my goodness McLaren at turn four that's twice in two days that they've lost positions there with a hip check or at least some butt contact now hang on a second too wide coming up through the snake into the esses that will not end well pirate lindsey slots through makes up a couple of positions there and there's a car in there that I think is a lap down yes there is that is the 12 car over Frannie monkey Calvin oh it's not a lap down of course now he's back on the lead lap isn't he of course he is so that is a battle for position there's a bit of smoke coming I'd think unfortunately I'm going to have to say that is from the McLaren Formula Renault yeah of the McLaren yeah are you got a FG through hip check that was of Cory what it was yeah that was a bit optimistic away from Cory Lewis I'm not sure he was close enough there but in the meantime that's allowed these two the Lexus and the Acura to pull well away but all the time Zac Monro be sure he's extend his lead over over Cooper O'Neill de over seven seconds now a good MacNeil is four seconds and reach the highest and in third and yak urine forth but that was most unfortunate therefore Matt plum because it was Frankie Baca Calvo after not having the best of starts there under two hours to go so 41 42 minutes a big completed side by side of the same part the dragon this time Corey Lewis backs out of it so has earned from the error of his ways a couple of laps ago stick twist before it kicks off again let's take another Cadillac it rids update in GT tier torna it's exactly Robbie shot that ladies from could McNeil in second place that's the nine Porsche from the 63 Ferrari eight seconds now it's a three run shot to the good Richard high stack continues in third position with a fantastic run there he's four seconds behind second place in the 14 Lexus now in a fourth position tetran hitmen he's been battling along there and then behind that don't you know what Cory was nearly through there and that was the inside curve which kind of straightened of all he was three quarters that we're past yeah I beg his pardon yes absolutely from the overhead camera that looks a completely different incident doesn't it's just yeah dude carpe when we had the straight on shot there that it hit you know something on the curb and then straighten up up into Matt there yeah he was three courts than we're through we take it back lovely put the full fatigue in here in the GT nabob category the top eight are or separated by about 11 seconds and it's the two Porsches from the two Corvettes from the two fours from the two preemptable you yeah all the sudden out two Porsches extending the lead over the Corvette the last eight pull couple actually pulled a couple of seconds away here at McLaren on to pit lane now wonder what has brought the series at the room or is that something else brand-new set of Michelin's going on is this left side only I think it is it's gonna be left side only and a full tank of fuel or as punches think and get in on that car they've had a good look around the Left Front and he said yeah that was left sides only and a nice burnout as well Danna Ted Turner BMW back in the pits again ship bad to worse for Turner motorsport says Robbie pull he brings the car back in they're putting a new rate rear shock on this car as second place in the championship runner came in look they're gonna be there at the end of the day as big championship implications now but you can't go throwing your weight around in the early laps and expect to keep getting and we're with it too much contact there on a on a relatively low-risk 2040 minutes to Porsches have pulled the penis Jeremy Shaw mentions Pele who've got the lead of the race on the pit stop cycle managed with a bit of fuel saving from Nick Tandy who did the opening stint to turn that car around a wee bit quicker than its teammate which have come in in front the Paul sitting Lawrence voter stood behind the car driver he is getting for his sticker at Michelin tires as well killing is done on the 14th and it regains traction and gets back into action stolen to take their first pit stop both of these much yeah sort of one and a half sticks for the Lexus cars as faff comes down in the ship of the number 8 car with Zachary Robichaud coming down Madison Avenue now will we see him pit at the end of this laughs Jeremy's getting got to be getting close even with that yellow flag period yeah he probably got a bit longer if you watch the near dramas there but the as before the full course caution there's number 9 this car the faff car and another 86 car they were pulling away from the Lexus and therefore everybody else and about a second of luck that's exactly what as I could Roberto is doing now over Cooper McNeil who who annealed in the same time he's been edging away from from the Lexus and therefore the rest of the pack because Hitler so still strike me out because this type setting on the the things we didn't mention our Porsche keys to the wrist I feel I should have actually his fuel consumption here I was talk to the team's the GT LeMond teams in particular and they seemed to think that they were all right on fuel but they will try and do a bit of fuel saving not sure whether is it boot what a bit of fuel saving means whether that means a splash towards the end if we go great for a very long time and everyone was pretty quite cagey about telling me how much yellow there needed to make it on an exact number of of pit stops find out into course fantastic consistency from our race leader all of his last basically seven or eight laps and within well certainly two tenths of a second most yeah absolutely brilliant at 41 one-minute 41.0 this like 41.2 last lap 41.1 41.1 41.0 footy 1.2 40.94 t 1.0 just fabulous consistency at the front of the field and he's not pulling away because one sponsor is still within the second of him but the Corvette now is three almost four seconds back in third position come back to that in a second Koo McNeil piece pits from GT d second position in the number 63 Ferrari Adam is watching the stop Toni Vilander climbs aboard the white Ferrari then to the number 63 on the side for fresh Michelin tyres yes they do have stickers on them still even for the Italian base teams could re of course they've won championships they've won races but it's been a long time since they've won here have to go all the way back to 2015 to the last time a Ferrari won at this track in GT d waiting the fuel is all of the rest of the pitstop Joe comes out and away goes the Ferrari very nicely executed stop their bikes good area course that 63 Ferrari heads out having given up second position but remember he stopped with what about an hour and fifty minutes let's see to go so he'll have at least one more stop before the end just want to go back to what Jeremy was talking about with Patrick P layer on trickling with us in the them support gas center here at vir asserted he knows very well indeed consistency and particularly quick and consistent exactly what you want here Patrick Bailey we often maybe don't make enough about his contribution Nick Tandy very fast very aggressive off the dis thing the qualifying but you absolutely need and Bingley of real off these laughs and he's not slow he's just quick and quick and quick Nikki yeah you just want to get in the groove they talked about you know they're working on long runs and stuff and once he got you know did they did the driver change on that first pit stop peel a got in and now he's gotten in the groove and he's just knocking the laps off here and they've definitely stretched down the Corvette just over four seconds ahead and now they can start saving some fuel because they're not getting pressured right now so grand they are teammates there they're running pretty close together but now you want to see if the 912 is saving fuel because he doesn't have the pressure behind him so we're gonna see how this is all gonna play out we have save Jeremy at Lime Rock Park earlier on this year Porsche did quite get their strategy right and were beaten with some kind of thinking by the four team who actually took an extra pit stop but brought the race in a smaller smaller chunks if you will to get the best out of their tires do you think that the Porsche GT team learned anything from the other they like to be more flexible on their strategy it's not a factor here because Todd we're really isn't a major issue unlike at life on Park where it really was they were burned through the tires they're here the tasks pretty consistent out we're seeing from the race leader's who's turning really really good laps all the way through that was a great stop there by the rider Motorsports team Ben Keating another brilliant stage brilliant what was interesting about that was he paid up several positions and he was they're right with threat hitmen all the way up until he completely came into pit stop to hand over to drunk like a mole it's a really good stint for Benckiser you can't a33 that great heads of driving from Katie when it all kicked off in front of him all kinds of carnage he didn't put himself in danger Mitch cherry picked his way through at the cars handed orbits you're on Blake and Moreland thanks person to hand you car Roberto but it's handed over without a scratch no yeah I mean number nine carro GTD leaders in the pit lane here and so yeah I mean he did the awesome job he was right in the middle that hurricane to all that stuff that was going on there yeah that bout in the battle in there later and JTA then didn't stop at the full course yellow Zachary Ruby shot makes his way with the puck faff Porsche it down to other there's damage to the left rear of this car has its tire rub from somebody I don't know who's even being close enough to sacrifice on to bother him all race but it is the red gloves of Scott Hargrove taking over this nine Porsche an honor he has not had in quite some time as god has not been with the team for their last two races in which they won but zachary Robuchon has his job is done he walks over to the pit lane and gets fist bumps from the crew members on that side for sticker michelin tires as scott her group still looks like he's felt in a little bit come out and Scott looks settle down a stretchy field to get out very close to our cameraman in the pit lid there as well and all the length set for show means that it's that morale down there up there it is how cause that later the former leader and will drop back into the pack book has in terms of fuel jeremy quite an advantage now and could go further into the race and of course has a new set of michelin's yeah that was just a tremendous sit there from Zachary Ruby Shaw I mean he was a pulling away on a regular basis from everybody else just to look at the relative lap times of all of the cars 44 nine is the fastest lap in the class during this race that wants to reassure the next best is a forty five one from Trent hitman 45 0 also for Jack walks with it interestingly but yeah it was a great stint I'm super consistent once again for rubbish shock and of course Trent him an hour's inherited the laid with the two cars ahead of him having printed first the Ferrari number 63 and then the Porsche number nine so Trent hitman now leads put pitted that so what was it 14 15 laps ago something like that he's got six seconds of Patrick Lindsey who's just doing his best middle sector of the racetrack of the race Patrick's got about five seconds on Alice power who cycled through to third position in the number 57 that's the my shank racing caterpillar sponsored NSX almost a nap pretty much almost exactly an hour that Robichaud did before he pulled that car onto the pit lane brilliant stuff faff car getting up to pierce and now it'll be down yeah the strategists now we're beginning to see some more pit stops being planned just looking down Patrick Lindsey in second position will hand to Patrick long one of the great American ruled races and Pat long getting ready to go racing sure is he's still just relaxing gently on the pit start he doesn't look at all relaxed he's very twitchy as a matter of fact he keeps looking back at his his crew saying hey where is he Grisi I want to get in the car let's go it's time for me to go I want to go play and now he looks down trying to calm his thoughts nope but he's looking back to the pit entrance this is a long wait for Patrick Lindsey to come in it will be a driver change for new tires for the perk place Porsche and of course the ginger ninja behind the wheel now you normally start the races going for TGM and mercedes-amg but in the longer races obviously you have to get by thinking about how long before you're expecting the car to come in are you absolutely but you obviously you have your race suit on all the time but your earplugs balaclava helmet gloves how long couple of three laps four laps five laps ten minutes how long about 10 minutes so and once I get the call from Vardy you know it's like you know 10 minutes I want to get ready and make sure I'm ready to go in case you know something happens on track that may bring a caution up the cars coming right in we need to be ready to go he kind of gives us the signal that we need to be ready and we've got the first and second in now from jtt now this is interesting because these guys don't really need to come in here Jeremy so they're just covering off the 9 car in case there's any kind of problem there oh this back timing to the end of year I think so I think you know they can get to the end here for it with one more with one more pit stop but I think so now is a good time it'll make it to pretty much well the first thought was sort of slightly out of sequence certainly for the bill he'll be able to get to the end from here with one more stop so you were kind of want to be ahead with the pits on curb if you can so your if you're the first time to make it your final pit stop that's often strategically if there are any full course caution scant play out in your favor but here comes the 86 car out of the pit lane and he is behind at least one of the Lexuses but crucially ahead of the 33 of Jerome playing a Moreland now can he stay ahead of Curran he's been in the car for a little while since et took that over from Ben Keating and the other thing is they are well behind the number 9 faff car which is also made its stop so that car with Scott Hargrove on board will cycle through to the lead of the race I know it's Carl Robertson guy Robertson of course he hasn't stopped yet in the 74 car there was a little problem for the park police car Patrick long didn't seem to get off the pit stand as quickly as he should have I don't know he had trouble engaging the car in gear he probably lost about five seconds off the end of the pit stop so that's the 73 but the other car with the three in its number and GTD that's been super impressive so far this race Ben Keating how much fun was it to mix it up with those guys out there you know that was a little bit of South Boston Speedway a little bit of the off-road course on the back 40 here at vir and a little bit of road racing that was a lot of fun it's uh I mean they're exciting you know there's just lots of traffic hard to pass which means a lot of people are pushing their way through and you know I got to take advantage of that on multiple occasions and how in the world I managed to not get caught up in it is a miracle you see you're gonna miss that kind of spirit these kinds of tracks out there congratulations on next year well I'm excited I you know I love him so I love these tracks and I'll be will look forward to racing it to driving at some point in the future don't know when the win or what that is yet but it will be back on the track at some point well good luck today getting that getting bumped down the field and that's now come in being said driver change Olly Gavin out Tommy Milner in that car with a drive light change full engine swap before qualifying 65 minutes out to back in again earlier on this week extraordinary stuff and just a footnote about Ben Keating silver stalled next weekend Friday Saturday and Sunday full coverage over on our s3 our sister service to Truswell as well that'll be on Aris one next weekend on board hit with the number 63 weathertech car the Ferrari Toni Vilander now aboard that having taken over from Cooper McNeil he's trying to track down firing a fire hose in to trick him in it in the Acura that it's about though now for fourth position in the classic scholar Hargrove was able to maintain the lead for Porsche at the pfaff team but only by a couple of seconds over Jack orcs with 1114 Lexus he's in for Richard - dropped like a mole similar margin a couple of seconds back in third position and then about four seconds back to this battle here we didn't up at 86 and at number 63 quick mode Ian also in gtlm number 24 car the BMW to be a period had been running in tandem to 24 and 25 those two they finally switched positions and then John Edwards at number 24 car must have had a spin two or three laps ago because all of a sudden he dropped a long long way back from the other car he's now kind of well sort of back up to speed again but the two BMWs they're a long way off the pace of everybody else in GT learn QT LM still no announcement about BMW in EMSA next year we know that they have wrapped up their WEC lamont program but don't worry too much of the moment traditionally BMW in common with most of the German manufacturers like to announce their full-season International Programs out there Knights of Champions the banquets at the end of the season BMWs normally the end of November at the beginning of December in Munich of course still haven't heard what Porsche are doing either but Sir think that's in doubt expect to hear from those two major manufacturers shortly still a big question mark over Ford GT here next year and Chip Ganassi will be doing officially nor Ford's next year but I know chips been working really really hard to either keep those cars in on an independent basis or to find another manufacturer and we'll keep you up to date with that once we get any more details from that it's been a great addition to the MSHA product to have Chip Ganassi his team and indeed his drivers a formidable line-up of drivers that they have who chip is trying to keep together for a program for 2020 its original and it was a TV together we're live trackside at beautiful Virginia International Raceway the insert broadcast booth at just outside the Patriot circuit which is the little circuit in the middle of the full track here and that's being used this weekend by Michelin to allow some of the spectators here a chance to experience what Michelin tires go through under development here and this is a development venue for michelin street tires if you're here at the tracking sign up at the fan experience senator submission and pods down there and get your invitation to come up to the patriot course and see exactly the technology transfer between track and street tires big crowding all along the fence line people coming in early their love their road racing in this part of the world since 1957 this track has been attracting spectators and challenging drivers and teams an hour and thirty three and a half minutes still to god it's Porsche at the front of the field remember just the GT failed here this weekend's 911 from 912 two seconds between the pair then the Corvette number three young Magnussen then Ford GTS 66 and 67 move L brought their way through that the two BMWs and most recently having stopped Tommy Milner in the Chevy Corvette number four dropping back to 8th position yeah the two pows I mean there are a second and a half off the pace everybody else are not really quite sure why they're saying I guess there's suppose they have to in terms of their fuel strategy but gosh I mean that you know they're seeing the same sort of drop-off here that maybe most teams were at Lime Rock which is I think they're the only seems to be suffering excellent drop-off so that's kind of strange to see the BMWs falling back by that much at this stage in the race in GTD just got Hargrove continuing the really really good work from Roberto he's actually extended his lead a little but it was two seconds four laps ago is now 2.7 so a couple of tenths a lap over Jack Hawksworth and in the meantime though Jack Hawksworth has been caught now by number 33 of joy and black Amon he's been absolutely flying and also Mario far Baca in the number 86 Acura he and Tony Wilander are running the same sort of post pace as Blake Amal and far back actually has just turned that cars fastest lap of the race under one minute forty four point nine two two that is almost identical to the fastest lap of the race in GT d that was set by exact Robuchon a little while ago just simply time ago just beginning to see a little bit of interest from the GT LeMond pit crews again we're coming down in 90 minutes to go and once we get to 90 minutes to go if they stop then it's only one more stop to the finish and remember what Jeremy Shaw was saying earlier on about being the first people to do your last stop that can often be an advantage particularly for yellow flag comes out a tip so red you by the way if you wanna get in touch with us here so expect to see the leading GT LeMond cars in in a couple or three laps now the question for me will be whether Patrick plist is here these don't Neely afford it now be quite a full tank of fuel so they're not using all of the tire they're not using all of the fuel here but we'll Nick Tandy be put back into the end of the risk uris to me is that unusually there's a couple of seconds between each of the cars in GT and generally we see a train of cars don't we but now he knows pulled out a couple of seconds over van saw van tilt towards pulled out a couple of seconds over Magnussen Magnussen's a couple near seconds ahead of Joey hand and then Ryan Briscoe have you made that bump and Rob maneuver on number four Corvette which has since been in the pit lane he's about five seconds behind Terry had for the first four equally spaced just a couple of seconds between them a little unusual for a race we normally see them like we did after that caution they're right together they stay that way the whole stent yeah they've got kind of strung out here and just depends on who's saving fuel and what kind of strategy they're out here a little weird you down here gentlemen then it won't be like that when we get down to the last 10 or 15 minutes it's like that rubbery it's got all going to come back together I've got a kid back together at some stage absolutely agree with you lots of action back has been installed by the way in the Lone Star 74 Mercedes that just turned that car's best lap let's speed at the horseshoe for Ryan Briscoe better damage on the left front of that car from the bump and run early on just locked up though looks like he locked up the rear is right at the very end of the braking area at turn one and two there oh and it's sort of bringing and turning in it's a lot like the first corner at Lime Rock actually yes you sort of diamond digging across the corner yeah you are and it he was by himself there he was just starting to turn in which you're kind of trailing to break into the corner there to the apex oh they're in just like a year lock tough on him there it's like you got a big boy who's completely on his own meself oh he's still obviously completely disgusted at the Australian performance of the Ashes Test match Headingley he must've been thinking about that yeah he really was it really was his sense of humor failure that I wasn't he was having a big smile in fairness Richard Westbrook had been keeping throw banana between those two teammates with world sport going on this weekend one of the great sporting rivalries in crickets test much the window for pit stops for the GT LeMond cars to go with just one more after they saw two more stops so anytime on the 90 minute I reckon these guys can come in and make it to the end with one more at the front of the field in GTD it's five portions got hardcore doing a cracking job Jack Hawks with trying to close him down at the Norman put the times have been remarkably similar between the first and second the fourteen Lexus and he has had to do his job pretty well Jack home to it because he's got general blinkin moorland in behind him Geron who was a real star at South Boston speed where in the late models yesterday evening qualified a sixth for the air bein and was running inside the top ten when he had some issues but thoroughly enjoyed it big smile on his face when he was telling everybody about it earlier on so that's the battle for second and third going down to the horseshoe in GT d then it's the accurate mario farm back at that Toni Vilander and the 63 Ferrari and behind that is that plum who's still at the wheel of the 76 McLaren so he's doing a very long stint they're still with an hour and a half to go or there abouts Jones could be interesting to see with the 14 car with the hark swarthy remember they were the first ones to come down pit road and so got bleekham Boland what a unbelievable job here's Jeremy was tracking it here the 33 car did on their pit stop and where they ended up in third to gain all that track position later is aimed from JT Levon Patrick Peleg comes in and there is an exam coming into that car out of ya good luck trying to keep him out at the car after going to South Boston speed rail last night Nick Tandy like a kid in the candy store except he is allowed to eat whatever he wants he's allowed to drive a race car Patrick feel a very gingerly closing the door jumps back over the wall his job is done this is the dua that one year in 2015 when they were going for a championship but it was Patrick pilet who was solo champion that year now Nick Tandy has an opportunity to set things right they are just waiting on a full tank for Nick Tandy and he doesn't tiny little burnout getting going a lot better traction than it was yesterday morning though to get out of the pit box to about four seconds yes 2015 when that was the last win for Porter here in the GG electrons at vir four foot four years ago they want to get back on to the top step and something they're doing everything right so far Tandy with a truncated first stick because that full course yellow they got the opportunity of coming in topping the car off and sending Patrick peel it looks like Tammy then will take this car to the end that will be more port pitstop unless something goes awry I can't see them risking another driver change beyond the bound of bounds of possibility of course Adamson really if you want to get into juice thanks for all your kind messages whether you're here at the track or further afield and we have Michelin pause British tech coming up after the checkered flag stay on air on RS - it's a radio to answer some of your questions about this recent stay at the sports cars in general plus what we've seen for the rest of the way gains Patrick long now trying to make up a position he's looking for seventh race and Townsend Bell has that at the moment Patrick long I promise you Patrick long is in behind that car that's various parts of the circuit where you can't actually see the Porsche behind the bright yellow car heading up the SS now towards the South Bend to turn ten and the park players Porsche number 73 looking extremely good almost right throughout the outside coming into turn 11 will he do the over and under he's trying almost gets the nose the Porsche in there he is in there as they come out that's a super piece of driving bell moving over towards the middle of the circuit very evenly matched on acceleration the Porsche and the front engined Lexus Parekh long may just have a slight advantage they climb the hill Alexis squeezes a little further ahead it's nip and tuck who's the latest on the bricks oh it's that over believes that's a bit naughty doubts coming across to four lanes there and the length of Madison Avenue determined to keep that position and there was a bit of PIAT created there so for the moment that steers even they started side by side with Townsend Bell and he's left on wheels right on the left-hand side of the truck they've finished side by side with Townsend Bell having moved the Porsche all the way to the opposite side of quite a wide area of circuit that would be being watched from risk until it will under these two came out right after the pit stops at number 73 came out I don't know a second or two behind the number 12 caught him up right away and he's been on his tail ever since those 10 laps that magic long has spent trying to find a way past this Lexus Center look like anybody looked that he had the the preferred line to correct the right hand side going into the roller-coaster you got to go to the left hand kick no that was the problem yeah for Patrick long because Townsend Bell said you're not coming through here and you say it was a bit forceful that yeah we've seen earlier on or in the power of the v8 in that Lexus is the friend of the driver the handling maybe not quite as sharp as the Porsche which is changing directions a little bit better certainly the traction coming out of the corners is advantage Porsche but the sheer grunt of that v8 that's certainly advantage Lexus no big Tommy oh is it just a good drag race and then it's going on again as we come down to rollercoaster of mass and Avenue he's there this time I think he's going to try to get them moved unlike draft yeah he's got position here but the side reps coming back on the Lexus yeah he's coming back on us here's almost the same situation yeah almost the same situation do pot long this time says all right oh I'm not too big nor a bell turns into him has to do everything to hold that car or the truck well this is not over I watched the road America race yeah I know he had it in I don't know who's taken up with this car or not it but you guys remember from the Mid America race this is not over yet by he means well looked like the pass was done there and looking fairly desperate driving by Townsend belt using the nose of the Lexus Aza an advantage me again Fairplay by a long a did a good job the cars really unsettled there because he just coming over the top others the rule of course were had trying to turn left and actually the car was pitched further left it he had to get out of it and catch that car pretty quickly he did yeah in the lap before that I thought Pat you know he's been around a long time I thought he could to force the position a little bit but we still got our 20 to go so I think he realized that and then he got a run on him the next lap that we're gonna see a replay up here that kind of got a little bump and run from towns in there because he had track positions the first time this is the first time where there's a little bit of book watching fair there Patrick Logsdon of this yeah I get to give it to you you hope so towns about gave it back to him once more okay that's kind of even in my book six of one and half a dozen in the year I think Pat long was a little further ahead the next time around what you worry about is getting one of the guards one of they the wheel arches bent in to the tire it can easily happen or worse still get the tires interlocked was also look who's behind me it's a race leader that's another 912 Lauren Santos who's lead has been whittled down just a little bit it was about two over two seconds over the Corvette and so it's now trying to maintain that or even extend an advantage as they get ready for the next round of Pittsburgh but Nick Tandy Patrick pilet Nick tardy they're dropped out of this fight and they've gone to an alternative strategy they've made their penultimate pit stop already and there are gonna pushes close to 45 minutes to go as they can before they stop again and in fact in comes the two leaders certainly the Corvette's come in followed him by the fort number six the Porsches gone through great fuel mileage by Lawrence van suah so it is the three Corvette and the 66 Ford that come in with an hour and twenty eighty minutes to go so that's one more stop for them another to 40 minutes tints is what we're looking for and Adam is watching these men on the mid stops the three Corvette comes to a stop first because that was the car ahead and it's foot box was a little closer towards pit in yon Magnussen long bay for him he gets out the king of Spain Antonio Garcia who's lost him sweat came here two years ago the three Corvette desperately wants win but they're gonna have to fend off the 66 which now has Dirk Mueller behind the wheel so it is going to be a fight who gets moving first drum is out on the three behind a nose man that was close they are up on the wall for the number and it will be Earl Bamber taking over for Lawrence vantur as the 25 BMW is in the pit lane and that too is the driver change connor de filippi out and Tom long first gets in and right out in front of the number 911 of Nick tardy that's a great turnaround for Corvette Tommy made his pit stop what three or four laps ago and this a crucial part of the race as we go forward into the last one hour and 20 minutes and Toddie dives up the insides got to get it done now gets into the turn four knew that that was important on the hot Michelin's and he made the most of that but he had to do it decisive maneuver there from Nick Sunday John Jeremy I were just talking during that those pit stops there danny has to make it happen now he's got clear track he was stuck behind the BMW so the 912 made leapfrog him do the undercut on him here so he has got to be qualifying laps here as his pit stops going on for the 912 and here comes the night 12 in the but this could be the Battle of the two Porsche teammate she Adam will watch the pit stop we'll tell you where Nick Tandy is on the track because that's going to be the key part of that year he comes Lauren sponsored a hand to oh bombuh hit the marks perfectly Gary already out of the car that was kind of a delicate the way that he threw himself out but that's okay because it meant that Bamber could get in just a little bit faster rear tire change is now complete they're still working on the front that was an incredible rear tire change actually go super fast just waiting on the fuel probe of the car still up on the air tracks they changed the water bottle as well and he's being told wait wait wait fuel line is still attached where's Ned [Music] [Applause] sandy I don't see Tandy coming down the foot straight now but I think the nine twelves done it he has done it the nine twelve is out unaware and that big caught behind the BMW has cost the nine eleven delayed drops in behind his teammate of course it's right Briscoe that is Lady because he hasn't stopped yet the fourth number 67 is leading the Aussie in the light blue and red car but he has not made the comparative the pit stop that these guys have he has between he's also had that spin to rich costing quite a bit of time as well so I don't think that's how it's gonna be in contention unless he they're gonna need a full course course and I think to get back into the fray meanwhile in GT d all of a sudden we got a big battle on our hands because that's a two second advantage of Scott Hoch Hargrove had has gone completely he's now got horses on himself here here is the battle he's not only got Hawk who's now gone past him but also durable a come on in the Mercedes right there as well that's I wonder if there's been a little mistake that from they ain't number nine carcass he was going quite well well if the pass has been made since start/finish line on this lap yeah correct as in comes the leading for GT e animal keep an eye on that for us put the battle for the GTD lead and all of a sudden Lexus get the advantage with Jack Hall to have been pushing very hard indeed since he got in the car Hargrove now has the somewhat intimidating sight of the three pointed star on the grille of another 30 Riley technologies car and he knows it's Gerald Blake a bullet behind the wheel of that car that'd be enough to set me off the truck I think I might as well just put the white flag up in surrender that's why I'm standing here and not driving one of those cars meantime Ford are doing a racking job with the Chip Ganassi team down in the pit lane that looked like a very good pit stop of danger for the 67 car over Ryan Briscoe who brought it in about 10 seconds before the kill - actually struggles for a minute traction out of his pit box so maybe it's the fact that the Porsches are on a bit of a downhill slope that helps them get going once again all the rubber lay down in the pit box over the course of the weekend of course washed away with the rain yesterday so that could be an extra advantage for Porsche meanwhile further down the pit lane the number 24 rll where Holloman Lanigan BMW has been in for its penultimate stop John Edwards is out of the car for new Michelin table just waiting for the fuel and out of 15 still to go - long long wait for the fuel to go in this must feel terrible and that one all the way a little bit as well not so much wheel spin on that so that's a clean stop and out there go up meet down the battle for second and third now as it is behind Jack holds within GT d the bright yellow Lexus Group through turn five in front of a big crowd on the back sides lovely afternoon here a little bit overcast but the clouds are not threatening the crowds aren't threatening either they are enjoying themselves and as I said our 14th Igor Lexus at the front of the field yeah it's been a really good drive once again from Jack orcses he was a good first it is a reason what happened here down T yeah down into that the horseshoe just down the inside of rather courts got Hawker offer a little bit came from about four or five Carlington yeah Hager have tried tried to close the door there but it was a little bit too late I'd say that I don't think that's going to be of any major interest to the race studio I was right alongside their deep cooler for a long way back political ad she was he was absolutely there when when it was time for Hargrove to turn in yeah that's the difference isn't it Jeremy from BMW number 25 country driven by Tom blackfist he scandal region just a little bit impatient there at the top of the roller coaster incidentally Nick Tandy just resent fastest lap of the race ergo new track record a couple of laps to go one note 40.78 won t the old record was one forty one point to last year's fastest lap a forty two point six sort of us was eight tenths of a second and more ahead of the of the race lap race fastest lap foot one year ago I think we don't have to worry that the GTD lap record has been hit with a very large hammer a broken into little pieces have we the old record was a forty four three no actually they have gone down today there's a little bit quicker than last year Jack Hawks would set the fastest lap last year one forty five point one the fastest duck dishes at one forty four point nine by Hargrove and farm backer Hawks resident forty five zero so far so French knew quicker than last year but the record was from two years ago lost nation buck in the Audi one forty four point three very interesting I want to keep an eye on that one meanwhile Patrick long and Townsend Bell continue their jousting match on the circuit heading up through the snickered through the esses the lorises it to the Oba SS and Patrick long must be trying to figure something new here it's tried a couple of times certainly got the traction coming out of turn 12 at the southern end of the circuit but he's not being able to turn that into an opportunity to pass without the danger he pushed off the track by the Lexus now we've got one of the BMW GT lamont cars coming in now this time putts staying in behind town sent for longer he hasn't committed to which side he's going looks like the Lexus has got the better Drive this time he's popular to a really late I've hasn't that town said Norwich where he's going fixed to the left that comes back to the right really close quarters racing at the top of the roller coaster now can he put the Lexus or only it maneuver down the middle of the rule of course sir I don't think I've seen a pass for position me it there very often Patrick long that was brilliant stuff absolutely brilliant stuff completely faked out Townsend Bell it was expecting the attack at the top of the hill or drinkler and then he just stood there maybe just forced at the Lexus into trying to go through the middle part a little bit too quick and then pounced we had the aerial shot there as we were watching this battle go on it's like it came down as they went through rollercoaster coming down to hog pen I don't know if this Townsend lifted earlier just I mean clearly Pat had the line to get into hog pen and took over you know this place very well that's that's not a place where that's not a place that you normally past there so I don't know if he just lifted there I'm not sure I almost thought he was coming to pit lane that time by it's because he wanted to make sure the Pat wasn't right on him if he made that maneuver over to pit lane if you're if you're instructing here by the way that is not an overtaking maneuver normally that's not a place where you would say you'll make up a position down the left-hander an extraordinary maneuver the dog thing there was a touch there no that wasn't a touch there and long gets through on the inside and by the time Townsend Bell thinks I need to be turning left here all of a sudden there's a Pat long Porsche shaped object there at the apex and without 10 cars let's by the time he's coming onto the front street she'd get a pickup got a big slider got a little loose they're coming out of the coaster they're just at that point I mean these guys have been going at it and so towns had probably thought that Patrick was probably getting pretty frustrated this this might get heated more to this you know still an hour to go here just over an hour yeah just one more pit stop I think for the GTT cars and probably for the GT lamont cars as well new fastest lap of the race Jeremy Shaw I mean the Porsches they've got everybody covered the season haven't they they have won the last two races for a variety of reasons but they aren't the class of the field this weekend they were fastest in the DRI fastest in the wedge think they've been quickest in every single session and in the race here they've they've got everybody well and truly covered like it would appear but two different strategies here they split their pit stops by what four or five laps between Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber there yeah singing to the same people but like they did at live rock Park and they both got beat there they've got a slightly different strategies here this time around and it looked like for a while there with that number nine eleven car couldn't get past the BMW through few laps I'm Phil Nick Tandy was relieved elated but probably a better word with a beer ee party finally pulled out the way he was able to get past him because even though with the pace advantage to Nick Tandy had over the BMW who's caught behind him for well I'd say a couple of laps which would probably cost him two or three seconds so it does like we talked to again the race car the keys the race you get stuck in the snake area and up through the esses you just got to run single-file unipro in that pace and the BMW probably does have good straight-line speed so he couldn't get by them any areas because you expose the car so definitely back to second but this is gonna be interesting with the Porsches here because they did split the strategy on how when they make their final pit stop so we're just getting close to almost to an hour to go and they'll probably what 50 minutes Jeremy think come in and make that last stop yeah I'd say so number nine 12 his car was gonna leave probably a little bit less fuel and there were put five laps apart on their on their bits ops which is you know be some reasonable reasonable difference but not a huge difference for ten minutes that's that question would be for me we know that the 911 stop with just aren't thanked just under 90 minutes ago on or under 90 minutes to kill how much further can L bomb but going to the race and will not make a difference for their last stop can they do a timed stop take on a bit less fuel and go to the end and will they risk not taking tires I can't see it but that might be the difference Portia's traditionally very frugal of fuel sounds odd to say that doesn't it for the performance car but relatively speaking yeah John I think it will end up taking tires like we saw when they made that but here that first yellow most these guys did take tires he didn't cost him too much time it cost some of the many it's also I think they're gonna definitely take tires here the one car that I'm kind of curious about is the nine car with harf Grove here he backed up into second place at the begin this race this car dominated the first half of the race I don't know if they're saving fuel here so they can short fill it you know or make that fuel stop quicker here as we make that last pit stop because they backed up into the 33 car and then the 14 car that's leading stop first before anybody yeah but he's not losing any ground now yeah it's mostly position he's hanging with with Jack Hawks without is Scott Hargrove and Joe Black among has been unable to move make a move behind them behind those two by only a couple of seconds so he has reduced it off the deficit actually as at mario farm back in the number 86 now he was four seconds behind or almost it's now two seconds between the second and third place car than 933 and in the break the six car of Mario far Baca leader coming up to the back of the Lamborghini from Magnus racing at the wrong part of the track as far as the driver earl barber is concerned going to play follow my leader my goodness does that Porsche look really big when it's in behind the Lamborghini different categories of cars of course gt3 version of the Lamborghini Erica Porsche cause through become very fast in a straight line losing nothing to the Porsche and terminal velocity just didn't quite have the grip out of the corner the Earl barber had new tires on the nine one - of course take a look that's how they start coming down to an hour left to go Lexus leads GT Tier two on a Jack Hawks with Pike just on a second from Scott Harkavy Jerome play come all in in half a second behind so that's Lexus number 14 bright yellow the Brad Porsche the number nine in second and the multicolored wins number 33 Mercedes AMG gt3 then there's a bit of a gap back all of it put the seconds - Mario far back in the championship leading Acura that's the black and put their pink car then the white number 63 Ferrari of Tony veal and there's about four seconds further back making up the top six here's the pigment grade McLaren 720s gt3 around here you burn a lot of fuel cuz you're at full throttle a long time around the three points to seven miles and 17 corners even some of the twisty bits are flat out certainly all the way from five feet up to South Bend to turn 10 is completely flat in a GT Deere toerner so I'm not sure that that's potentially hurt them too much I think they'll need a splash at some stage before the end of the race so intrigue me you were watching that very closely indeed little things executing in the pits and that car still doesn't actually seem like it's up to speed up there no it doesn't look like he's up to speed at all I would if he hasn't got his belts on or something so he's been in the car for a while too but it's little things like drinks bottle changes that can make a big difference that this class all the way through this race GT LMS rather boring and by gtlm standards there's no real close battles going on there at all about the closest between any of them is is a couple and a half side of the track I think it's well enough off the line fuel and tires going on for the 86 Acura as well who is going to get their service done foreign into the pit lane does come Patrick long and the number for a Corvette so faff needs to leave soon or else his exits gonna be blocked it's gonna be gone it's gonna be bad for the GTD leader as he tries to pull out because now he's got a bright yellow Corvette right in front of him they're waiting on the fuel nozzle to come out let's make sure that he gets clear off the Corvette but it will be a clean exit for the 86 the 9 is released and he Tandy was coming well yeah I mean the gap came down all of a sudden on one lap from 4.30 second to 2.6 and then all of a sudden now it's gone to next to nothing so that's very strange because it's only 17 laps into the number nine 12 cars that's it yes the 911 has been out there longer hasn't it so nicked and he's got a lighter car nicked a need you to stop actually within next two or three laps I would think because he came in just on the 90-minute bark and I would expect him to stop somewhere around about 44 45 minutes to gone which is a cool ability we're there for just a couple of laps but we're great road by blinker Moreland who now leads it GT detour that had receiver yeah roller coaster spot so new leader in GT Daytona hard to get it too hard to get it too quickly while he's got the performance advantage in those brand-new Michelin's great run early on by bed Katie it's all very well you know the glory lap stone by the second driver but it's got to be a car handed over that is able to fight when you put it in the hands of your own Blake Blake them all increased pretty certain that so long as it's got four wheels and a semi-functioning engine he'll give it a go book stretching some some please relieve prep going on but definitely not within the next ten minutes okay so that's going to tear them both down somewhere towards 35 minutes Nick Tandy squeezes by into the horseshoe the McLaren 720 that car that has such a look of the 90s GT odd as in Wolfe last pit stop then for Tony or Garcia the Corvette and the Ford follows it in doing more than 66 this will be their last pit stops they've done their last pit stops first year other and they're the two that came in together the last time remember in 86 and the three were in on the same laughs they're doing the exact same service once more and it was the three who got our first the last time let's see if the Ford can do a little bit of redemption it is four-tire change on the Ford four-tire change on the went into that car that's all it took to get a factor full that's all they'll take together to the end yeah 43 minutes to go 23 seconds 23 seconds and I think that would be a week that's going to be a wee bit more the body left at the 912 cards is the primer six laps what's gonna be interesting here now I mean about the story through 40 to 41 million 42 s whereas he was doing 40 ones all the way through and even in the previous state the the number 911 count with both up new dude 41 2 all the way through to the end of their stint so else living losing ground here the undercut could well work out in favor of Nick Tandy I was gonna have to get a move on before he makes me stop fly the ointment here might be Richard Westbrook who's now in second position he's 30 seconds we hide Earl barber push him he's still got another pit stop the vehicle you can go quite a lot quite a bit further than everybody else he'll stay out there probably probably for quite a long time where those well stay to me time that battle between Ford and Corvette getting very close indeed as they come at the top of the roller Coster down the inside for Tommy shake the 40 turned around and he's turned them both that woman after the deben start around the outside making of all those positions to get in the second place 37 minutes to go 37 minutes to go and into the pit lane comes the leading car which is Richard Westbrook so this will be his last stop he'll be coming in next time around so 90 seconds that car is in the lead at the moment how how close was it not close oh oh yeah Jeff I'm shocked that the the the 912 didn't pick sooner after the 911 yeah made it to pit stop because they were good to go there inside their fuel window because he's on new tires Tandy is putting qualifying laps in and they're just losing time with them particularly as number 9 12 clearly been struggling he wasn't able to do is send lap times as he was earlier on so yes I completely agree these GT only but what a battle of GTD just where it's gonna say Jeremy these GT only I know people look for the big back and broader types going round it the old OD LMP pieces we've got a seer we get a lot of green flag racing we see guys having to work hard behind the wheel guys having to work hard on the wall as the Ford comes in for Richard Westbrook for his last pit stop GT teams still play : Mario farm bikes got hard core and Tony Wilander all battling it out there are only two seconds apart as Westbrook oopsie for what looks to be attached time to stop I love seeing somebody staring up at the pit wall to know when they need to hit the fuel or the broomstick handle and that's exactly what's going on - Richard Westbrook four sixes up for GT seconds worth of fuel for him so a little bit less he's jumped everybody they're just coming down the front straight now there's Wesley gone and the other four yeah that's good needed less fuel got the tire changes doing back themselves in that Warren Chip Ganassi Ford Racing and that's a fabulous turnaround and they will come out in third position now Westies on scuff two tires everybody else and getting their tires up to temperature and pressure but now here's the GT LeMond race we were hoping for I said he could come back together it has the two Porsches are up the road separated by four seconds and then we've got this grim pilot through straight away what a maneuver for Tulio Garcia well might have been a slight mistake from Garcia when he went through on one of the Fords we've got three wide at the bottom of the I good the two Corvettes have swept past the two Ford's in two or three corners that was decisive driving from Tony or Garcia he's now in the third position what a what a piece of pit work by the for Chip Ganassi team bullet hasn't really worked for Richard Westbrook because he got jumped by a very determined Garcia and then following him through Tommy Milner that's very aggressive and decisive driving absolutely fair though by the two Corvette drivers I was great man Milner had the momentum coming out of the snake either slower s is up to the bigger s is up underneath the Nissan Bridge Westbrook put a block on his teammate and that slowed them both down and then Milner just had the momentum to go by both of them before he even got to the uphill s's so just awesome driving about these guys and surprised Westbrook left that door open as much as he did into the snake there yeah you know that's an area that you can kind of shut the door on somebody and not let up through there two Corvettes now crossing the light heading down towards turn more the distinctive Rumble almost sounds like a world war to fight the aircraft that law from of the Corvette v8 gonna miss that aren't we when the if and when the new race car comes no announcement from that yet for the mid-engine Corvette wait to see when that announcement is made and when we will see that car WEC starts next week and Silverstone and if they want that car at Lomond next year the mid-engine car but it needs to be homologated before then for the FIA WEC otherwise they'll have to use the front-engine car at the mall next year Reston cannot refer Corvette Racing yeah this interesting isn't it this this battle here third third fourth and fourth and fifth of two Ford's in 1456 so two Chevy's in third and fourth but the battle of the race right now is in GT Daytona because we now got a four car battle and it's not different manufa it's not team by team is mercedes Acura Porsche Ferrari absolutely knows the tire there are within two seconds of each other magnificent isn't it all come back together the front of the GT D did so on a field in the GT LeMond failed from third on down pick any one of four for the last podium position there and I think your Patrick long have been able to get past the Lexus of towns at Berlin right after another Porsche in here as well yeah he's 20 second slower the bass hawks of the course before he had his problem number 14 car if he understood some speed here in this last step year the middle stint he kind of fell off there a little bit from the leaders but now he's really close back in just heard from Corvette Racing their drivers in third and fourth in the three and four in that order at the moment junior Garcia and Tommy Milner they are cleared to race their boot all they are cleared to race but no contact nor contact but risk as hard as you like you to love that love to hear that from teams yeah yeah and the reason of court the only reason that they're battling now is because number three car course was had the incident up at the roller coaster so it's kind of fallen back into the clutches of the other guy but over the forward to that was involved as well was at three hundred and under sixty six so that's why volley all of a sudden got a battle again there between these four [Music] coming down to thirty minutes half an hour to go gotta be careful in their fight these two guys that both want to be on the podium for sure but the Fords are just lurking in behind there [Music] what we don't know of course is who can go full rich can they all go full rich to the end and full power you'd think so yeah I think so yeah yeah you'd think so yeah no question two Porsches now can start to do I'm gonna field serving at the front of the field not that I think they need to do that in terms of getting to the end Tandi first of the stoppers to get to the end of the two Porsches at least on the 911 second in the driver's championship at the moment and this they will feel these pete has been coming for them they'll not take over the lead if it finishes like this in the driver's championship but they will rapid the manufacturers championship for sure for Porsche which will release doors to at Laguna see it get act at more tool could see LeMond to race for the driver's championship goes to driver pairings if we drive the threesomes of course morning when we get seen but to put cielo bomb there's 14 point B between the commenting this weekend in favor of the 912 just look at the lap time to lose relative cars leave number 912 haven't been they came out after all the pit stops were completed it's now two and a half last time around and they're both having some traffic years from GTD traffic so you know this kind of affects their laptops be some concern of disappointment to rear I'll let them in Lanigan meantime on the back street the South pitch this is that must be the car with the the Lexus with the battery problems again because there's no headlights on so that's the 14 isn't it that's hot - its car and that's cooked to a halt and I think he's given up the hood equal struggle there then listen that tightness tit that's tight pickup truck has pulled up to the safe place that yeah hawk Smith has just turned everything off there's an air of resignation in the eyes of Jack Hawksworth from the north of England and battery's Bend as we head into oak tree here just a little bit of break car gets really like we're where they are right now and then turn it into oak tree and then back to the power hard as you can down - stopping you you get your kids loud ready to cook the chopped to see your favorite book up through the gears here just cruise along check your gauges and make sure your name is good to go as we come down Madison Avenue up over the rise here well I can never get right is where she bringing points for the top of the hill because that doesn't I mean this monopods what you're looking at the one board coming into the horseshoe here and the turn one that it's so long from the time that you go full power and hog pen till you get to the brake zone in turn one this is a bigot looking from the tail in pretty muscle lose way past the number 86 Acura Jeremy how close do you think 233 Cory I mean is it good to go on fuel is 55 minutes when it pitted I mean yeah close do you think that they they're cutted here I would imagine they they they knew that could get to the end from there the the other the other forecasts over 986 73 and 57 all came in a couple of laps later but I would think they would be pretty confident to be able to get from there you can't you can't Bank on there being caution players here like you can't with some other tracks or you can gamble or maybe on that being some course and I don't think you can do that here at vir yeah definitely not question Bill Riley I just didn't know on the GTD on if they can go 55 minutes here they're at 50 minutes well we'll find out we're gonna find out today bill I would have thought that he wouldn't have come in but unless there's a miscalculation earlier in the race I would have thought he would come in when he knew from way questionis panic your full pelt to the finish and full rich because there's a difference between see right you're gonna have to do a bit a lift of him costing and fighting off guys behind and and that comes down a track position there and we're talking very fine margin see yeah yes there's a run downhill but the start finished the run to the start/finish line is long an uphill and it's uphill yeah once you've come over that little rise you do not want the coffin a splitter coming out the final corner that Andy Lally is found away parts of town set bail that's no mean feat is it for seventh position we've got the string of four cars here in the Battle of the lead for GTD and then there's a long long gap back to long long long Patrick long that would be in fifth position number 73 car he's about does about 20 seconds between them another 10 seconds with her back to the McLaren of Paul Holton and a similar gap back to Andy Lally who's running seventh in the Lamborghini for Magnus racing car 244 he just said the town sent by a second or so a catchment Lakes not too far behind he either let's go to Adam who has by no means I mean we need to beat this absolutely clear as norm by no means house she intimated that either Jeremy or indeed oh and are questioning Bill Riley but she has wet still if I said can he go forage to the Ndebele said no we're actually same feel right now he has and their signal and he said good to the end but he is going to do a little bit of conserving during this period of the race yeah but that good that's fine I mean yeah guy he got himself out it from that was always important to get that track position getting front early on and then he can can to control the pace because the GTD cars are so closely matched if you can you can save a little bit of fuel not go completely 100% qualifying pace the whole time save a little bit of fuel but still keep ahead of the guy you're racing with and that was one about Porsche case there is wasn't a track position but other 3-phase as his patient went passionate passing in a track position and bill ride he's do these numbers right to get him out there and they've traded that off so much in motor racing Owen is a compromiser trade off they've traded off another couple or three seconds of fuel to be able to go full rich all the way at the end to be a second a second and a half right now controlling the risk and he's not yet been under pressure so he doesn't have to push that hard right now know the best place to save fuel is out front so you can join your pace and stuff and so in that Bo P is so close like Jeremy were saying and GTD that you know it's just the Mercedes doesn't have great top-end speed but it's got great mid corner speaking like we do in our GT for car and so the best place for him to put his car out front he can run the pace that he wants to run he can set the tone aware they needs to be so that was a great call about Bill to do that's why I kind of talked about 55 minutes I thought would be kind of cutting em a toast mate but but get him out front save a couple you know save some fuel there for a lap or so where he needs to do and it's not like it was an hour of five minutes which would have been pottering around gonna cut it back like no exactly that big margin by the still maybe a you know half a lap or so just to get them in that window where he could get the track position and get out front it's not the worst thing either now I'm Mario farm backer behind you who's leading the championship Jeremy because right now as we've got a full course yellow of course yellow ah now what's happened here I go back to that point we've got a safety vehicle on the circuit to safety vehicles on the circuit somebody's gone off on the uphill have it at the right in front of the village and it's their scrap oh yeah right somebody's put our 2:57 it's Katherine Lake and she's paid off though she was battling with Andy Lally no no shoot no no no that was that was a long time ago she was trying to trick chase down Townsend Bell she was about a second she's out the car good that's the good news out of the car on her own she's dislodged tires right in front of the villas there and bent the arm core that's a very fast part just coming up over the top of the rise turn nine ten South Bend sunset Bend area and that is going to be a clean up required Kathryn or eating the helmets her balaclava off the safety team already there full course caution number two now Catherine's saved a big incident earlier on in the weekend when they had a suspension failure especially part failure on that car and she managed to keep the car out of the wall and get it back to the pits it's tore up the left front corner off of it completely completely all the front body works gone but the left front upright and herb has been torn off can't even see where that's gone actually I think it's actually in the tire stack yeah as it's gone in so that car up for my money that car has just gone off pretty much straight off and left side has made contact looks like I might have gone under the tyre stacks and hit the arm core certainly to deform the arm core a little bit that's gonna need some remedial work there yeah race control say this is gonna be short yellow that what they mean by that is that the pits are not going to be opened within the final half an hour race so it'll just be the but it will be won't be a short yellow unfortunate because it's going to be quite a lengthy track repair there is a very straight line of grass cutting traced to the scene of the accidents so that again may mean that there's been a technical issue Catherine was pushing to chase down the cars ahead of her we've got the back Lauda coming in as well the backhaul coming in to straighten things out already track services there with some new banded tires that's really impressive support earlier on this weekend about the desire from risk control to get the RIS back under green flag conditions there's the wheel now and tire it's been ripped off the MSR NSX that's going back to the car catherine starts tehrik-e directly out of the car turret she's out of the car and got out of the car on her own just walked over and been speaking to the medics so that's good news the pass around will start in a moment were under 7 8 minutes I wasted no time here are they bloopers actually magnificent effort no it's me like that all weekend has no Jeremy it really has easy they got through a lot of low star sex this weekend yeah kudos to everybody here I mean capitals okay from that that's the main concern but the track here led by Kerrigan Smith has done a great job here even during our race yesterday that this trailer was there with the stack of tires and the mess that was down in hog pen that they were right on it clean it up and getting everything ready to go again I've been talking all over the weekend on about the the passion that there is in risk control and at the tracks that him is a go-to for racing just as much as as week half as any of the spectators have is any of the drivers have and and they don't want to be yellow any longer than they need to if there's the opportunity and it's safe and that it has to be safe first to go back for a lap or a coupla laps they'll absolutely busted open to get that done what was our conversation with Bo at breakfast this morning yeah if he can go back green he's gonna go back green and yeah and our race is the last two events unbelievable finishes went back green for one lap to go yeah so I love that they want to go back green and not try to finish under yellow main concerns of drivers okay make sure that's all good to go in the tracks good to go back green but I'm glad that they do the quick service that they get done and then we can go back race and finish under green that's what the fans come here to see yeah and and this think about if we finished under yellow and those two events the fantastic finishes the paint tonight yeah by the way we talk about race director for the in some other tech sports car and the championship he also said he came in for a bit of flak from a few people because because of those last at last-minute restarts that the green white checkered scenarios it does have a propensity to court to for some other instance to occur on that last lap which can cause of course cost a lot of money for some people and it has done to do you each of the last two races a good a race though we're here to race that's exactly right and those four instances can happen anytime during the race that's this point and he's absolutely right I guess I don't need to say it to my teammates it nor my right shoulder here take a dig deep next time that's right just a little footnote there did also see a photographer being looked at by the trap medics some suspicion that he might have been between the arm core and they catch fencing there but he was still on his feet as well so we'll try and get some word on everybody's condition there Catherine will be taken after an incident like that every everybody involved will go back to the infield Medical Center just for a proper check or for that standard operational procedures so the ambulance pulling up there is nothing to be overly worried about and as soon as we get the official word from EMSA and they are very very good indeed in letting your still we'll find out what's going on left rear damage on the car of course from earlier on on that car Catherine legs 57 from the Heinrich erasing car we wish her the best to work for the team there before they go out to California their other car leading the championship sitting in second position at the moment time ticking down but still 13 and a half minutes to go our fancy will get seven or eight minutes of racing here we can get those tires put back straight five minutes more of work and then they'll clear those guys away Brits will not open here I'd be pretty impressed if they can do that five minutes I think John there's a fair bit of shuffling around to do there plus not far to get those vehicles out of the way they can go back around to underneath us the Nissan GTR which has done safety car cheat lease here for a little while now he's heading the field up so do we get a final Dash for Cash there between the two Porsches and it brings Corvette back in at Ford we've paired them up again Noah's Ark style Porsche Porsche Corvette Corvette Ford Ford BMW BMW now in fairness the 24 car think has fallen off the lead lap now for Jesse erroneous and hard but the other seven are still on the lead lap and GT did toerner well per many want from the top nine really in the finishes we've seen recently given that they're all on the lead lap Jeremy the top nine down the loss and Aschenbach I think in there that's right it's position nothing zactly right so yeah you're right there look at that the lap so they be turning and yeah I think Blake abominably have to be foot as we've kind of documented number 333 car it has looked super strong this weekend it's been I think measuring the pace effort around black America promote your own blanket moment after making that bit soft with with what was it fifty five minutes ago or thereabouts so he was the first data 76 car with the first two cars to make their final pit stops so he's probably like footing a little bit but he's able to maintain an advantage and I'm sure as a result of doing that you should have kept some life into its mission area tires as well but as we've seen also threw that out is it our race weekend this is not a particularly abrasive racetrack and the tires do tend to stand stand up pretty well yeah they're gonna cool off during this caution period too so they'll come back to life and the we're just gonna be under ten minutes to go here still so the few laps we're going to get the should be okay on tires I think that one car did definitely benefit here was the 76 they got kind of out of sequence because they think that at left-side tire going down when plum was in it earlier in the when he got hit by the Lamborghini there so I don't I think they put it right outside the hour mark just cuz they were probably forced to yeah and so I think this definitely helps them out to make it to the end yeah lights are out on the pace cars we're seeing here around Georgia yeah so right you know here we go did any better than you get round they'll be about it it minutes to go so I'm pretty happy with that but normally I don't like to make those kind of predictions put these the accent there's no doubt to be that that's the McLaren gone down the inside that's the 76 car Paul Hope then Andy Lally side by side Townsend Bell was in there as well this could be a big shuffle around bleaker Mullins got the drop on the rest of the field thought GTD the 33 wins EMG Porsche Nick Tandy from her barber half a second as they went across the line that's a decent a very decent advantage straight off the bat for Nick Tandy here before missing forward there with the two Corvettes The Fairly medicine they're in third at fourth position no changes in the positions in GT team as they head up the hill brilliant work from track services and risk control to get the track back to Ray scible conditions for leaning nine-minute - to the flag TT's warming up here yeah and he's got a fast car underneath him yeah that number 48 car but tucks in there that is a couple of laps down Bryan sellers at the wheel of that car had problems early on but the first arrest all the rest of those cars are are in the mix let's go see if Garcia can hang it up it seemed like they had some short-run pace with them you know earlier on when we had the other caution that the Corvettes could kind of hang in there for a little bit so we only got seven minutes to go so see if they can distant hang on to the two Porsches here and put just a little bit of pressure on them happening no no all of a sudden right away the two courts are stretched out too it's a good second over the two Corvettes fraction be short of a second but an appreciable six or seven cards and just one left between each of the four which was there absolutely tied together here pulling away with this is gonna be an interesting battle between these two in terms of lap time the the lap record setting this race has been at number nine twelve car that's a rough car that's currently running in second place but they're both set times we didn't attack with a set war just so pretend for a second on each other they get to battling too much they'll bring Garcia right into this yeah that's a good point that's a good point just a quick note on Catherine legs incident initial report saying it's a tire failure from that car they were looking at that of course working with the team and what's the bodywork damaged which may have been a contributing factor there but I will say the GTD cast adapt very well to what look to obey the high-speed incident the cockpit area this might having some back might how he strikes by bundles are tires and quite quick stop for that guy Catherine able to get out under her own steam so we'll wait to hear from the team and from Michelin about the cause of that but it did look like there was some kind of mechanical or technical issue with that guy let's turn off our best wishes to the Californian in that car GTD still battling GT Levon can we can we possibly see Tony or Garcia get close enough to the Porsche to put some kind of move on them to even lit braking from Tony or earlier on he's keeping the second place car in sight happening - stretching away a tiny bit morning - storm a half a second between second place and the first of the Corvettes then his teammate about the scene behind and watch out for the first of the 4 GTS the light blue and red number 67 Richard Westbrook is he the man most likely at the Mormon Jeremy Shaw well I don't I mean that all these cars again that they're pretty closely match them the Porsches have definitely got the legs on everybody they're in this row so the only cars don't lunch under one minute 41 seconds and I expect that to continue to the end of this race but between the showbiz at the Fords very very little to choose between them got a girlfriend now has come down to it to not making a mistake that we're going to be you're going to be fast and perfect at the moment it looks with these cart equity stick is always not much going on but all in trick that this is where drivers earn their money it's just as intense as lally that was coming out of hog pen onto the start/finish line and that was Paul Holton trying to make up some places on the restart I think he had done actually he had no no still behind Patrick network that next race for those of you here in the US Nick Tandy with two pieces of absolute brilliance outside pass at the start to get the second and then pulled up on the restart great pit work 911 wins it for Pilon at Nick Tandy championship leaders Earl Bamber and Lauren sponsor paid back by a few points will attack or to walk to and Porcia our manufacturers champions for 2019 in GT Lomond an equally brilliant team effort for the 33 and the wins AMG Ben Keating doing a super job where there was mayhem around him earlier on how did the car with applicable and unmarked great pit work and strategy from Bill Riley and the rest of the team and Keating and bleak moorland win GTD at vir the last time we'll see those guys here for a wee while yeah that's been longtime caring they worked super hard that team as a six different manufacturer to win in GTD this season a brilliant performance by the entire team as you say as thoroughly well deserved at her a couple of rigs that kind of snaps away from for different reasons congratulations Feli with this win you become the winningest driver in gtlm since the merger you now have 12 victories and porsche got the manufacturers championship so it's an all-around pretty good day yeah I mean it's it's perfect day we have a tough quali for Nick here it went off it was really pissed but I tell him never give up we have a great car the guy make excellent shop all the Michelin tires was working perfectly well on our car this weekend and yeah manufacturer championship was the first first step so this is done now we can we can fight until the end with our sister car would make a great job also today it was a great fight with them and yeah we will try to make their life a bit more difficult for the driver championship even if it's not easy we will never never give up until the end but yeah it's a great day for Porsche congratulations Patrick thank you for excitable Patrick pilet apologies for the slightly colorful language there as they have got their win in the bag an inch closer to the width all of their teammates now they've won the long races before now this is the first of the sprint races that they have one more let to a trained hustle down to the 33 squad where Ben Keating and Bill Riley are already celebrating their GT detour that victory or drink that you pick with us right the way through as far as Porsche is concerned a perfectly control the pitch race from Porsche they had the piss on the field they still have executed dude Nick Tandy and Patrick Bailey combining brilliantly and two fantastic pieces of driving from Nick time to get either ends of the race yeah what a great performance about Porsche that here today at vir I mean they just weren't gonna let the strategy get away from them like they have the last couple of races so they had the pace today looks like the car was just brilliant over the bumps and especially out of oak tree it just go right over the curving and just didn't miss a beat at all put the power down so brilliant and and to support an awesome wind I mean they just dominated today you drive the gt4 version of the AMG GT the gt3 has as one hanging it's here hats off to pen Keating and Tudor on Bleecker more than football I can't do that if Ben Keating doesn't get the car to him in perfect condition in absolute mayhem going on there was all kinds of stuff going on Nike he was the middle of that tornado that was going on with the five or six cars that were battling there and GTD and Ben did an awesome job and those guys have been fast here they just had different things happen here the last couple of years where they couldn't be it on the podium and or win the race and they did the right call bill did the right thing they need to do is get the track position get Jerome out front and then the set sail from there total team performance that we've honest motorsport before that's very reminiscent of what your guys do it is it's just I mean even Porsche Bill Riley it's all team performance here it's the drivers it's the crew everybody involved you don't win races just with the drivers you win races with everybody well Ben Keating the last time you won this race you got a nice ring for winning the oaktree grand prix this time you get a nice little Michelin Man trophy almost as good maybe better it has to be better you know I I think we got third place here a few years ago and of all the trophies on my trophy case the the little metal michelin man the little metal bending has got to be my favorite so I'm very excited that he's gonna have a friend up there with him well and a gold one instead of a bronze one so that's even better whoo congratulations Ben thank you a very happy Katie there and rightly so bling him all and did a bit of extra racing this weekend down at South Boston Speedway in the late-model qualified sixth for that and was running solidly in the top ten before he had some technical
