[Music] [Music] ah hello everybody and welcome to our live and exclusive coverage uh around the world of new zealand's six hours of the play good to have your company on imsa radio and imsa tv i'm john hindle and alongside me in the haggardy global broadcast center it is jeremy shaw adam is our vp racing fuel paid and paddock reporter for those of you in the states set your dvrs 7 p.m eastern tonight for the nbc highlight coverage of the sealants six hours of the glen otherwise stay with us here on rs2 via imsa radio.com or xm202 and we'll bring you full live coverage all the way through this afternoon's contest well this is an awesome circuit set within the rolling country side of upstate new york in the finger lakes reason region hosted 20 consecutive formula one united states grand prix starting back in 1960 a circuit that was put together to take more racing off the local roads back in the day of course that was very very prevalent but a couple of tragic accidents around this area made the local burgers think that was possibly just a wee bit too dangerous and therefore the track was brought together and layered into this green and pleasant land the nice part of it is if you've ever driven around the roads of this area they're very similar to the layout of the circuit with 11 corners 3.4 miles from what's called the full track here and not just corner numbers you know you've got a bit of history when you've got the inner loop the outer loop some names the tour and the heel of the boot because that's what it looks like and then through turn 9 10 and 11 to finish off a lap real challenges for all of the teams and drivers it's fast it was resurfaced a couple of years ago there's plenty of grip and the lateral loading here is very great indeed you really have to commit to some of these corners so that's the layout that's what we've got in front of us the cars are already on the track and on their first warm-up lap jeremy shaw uh hello to you six hours ahead of us six hours that is now an endurance yes but effectively it's gonna be seven or eight sprint races at the front of the field connected by stops for fuel and possibly tyres yeah that's right and there's a lot of strategy to be played out during this race uh and i think it's gonna be a lot of fun uh i think the the cars in all four classes seems to be pretty good all five classes these days uh seem to be very very closely matched so you're picking a winner out of any of them it's not very easy at all adam is our pp racing field a panic reporter and she's got some track updates for us as well drivers reporting on the first lap around the circuit that there is a significant tailwind going into turn one which means that it'll be there for turn eight as well and those are two of the corners that race control is watching for track limits we've had 61 laps that have had track limit violations in the mc weathertech sports car championship through the practices and qualifying so far this weekend no calls of track limits and warm-up which was a nice surprise but that tailwind could play a factor particularly as people are jostling around on the start as if term one and that very quick entry turbo wasn't uh difficult enough add a bit of tailwind just to push you into that there's plenty of runoff on the outside but that is one of the places that is being watched turn one uh also through the inner loop at the exit of turn eight and the exit of turn ten all been looked at porsche keys to the race it's a six-hour race you won't really win it at that first corner don't forget the michelin endurance cup points that they are awarded in the race we will uh give you an update on that when we get to that point the tires well there's plenty of them it was a generous allocation of michelin tires here but who's going to be clever and save some stickers for the run to the chequered flag in six hours time championship implications if something goes wrong here we're moving into a very busy part of the imsa weathertech sports car championship calendar and the next race is only four days away we're back on thursday for the next round of the championship so you won't be able to get back to the shop if you do damage those are our porsche keys to the race we'll remind you about michelin post race tech as we get into the race itself it's at imsa radio on twitter if you want to get in touch with us there's six hours on the clock the white chevrolet c8 will peel off right into the pit layer this time around it's a split start with the prototypes at the front and ricky taylor in the acura on drivers right sees the green flag being waved and gets the foot down and does get the whole shot down in the turn what now does he pick the right breaking point behind absolutely does not and ram goes the brick tower prototype oh my goodness exactly what we were talking about john ferrano started the number eight the purple of white car and locks up he's called michelin tyres there's a battle at the front of the field as the blue and black acura is defending from the black and purple acura side by side into the bus stop the allied cadillac right in behind there but can't quite make it move in fact might lose that position to the zero one cadillac but we've got a new leader jeremy dean cameron shot out over the top of turn four as if he was being launched from an aircraft carrier meantime the uh p cars as they move for halfway around the lap the gt's are already off and running and it's the two corvettes at the front of the field tony garcia on poor position from tommy milner and milner has gone through into the lead there as well what a start from dean cavern jeremy it certainly was he was he was absolutely on a mission there he was disappointed himself after qualifying felt he didn't get the best sound of the car made a couple of mistakes on his uh what should have been his best lap in qualifying had to make do with that second on the grid that guy had been fastest in each of the practice sessions so he wanted to make amends that's exactly what he was done in that first half a really brief and bold move there for dave cameron to take the lead john ferrano into the wall early but did recover jeremy but there was definitely contact there he's got away with that i will be shocked because there is a note of debris at turn number one exactly what you don't want we were talking about in the porsche keys to the race first lap first cornet slight mistake by ferrano car ends up with a bit of damage yeah and uh we can certainly be see some bits and pieces flying off of that castle spun down the barrier i think it was a bit of content with both ends of the car i think uh relatively light and these cars are pretty strong but i'd be pretty surprised if he's able to get in there and get going again without needing to come into the pit to at least check for repair so a very unfortunate start for john ferrano now adam was telling us in our mission countdown to green that we would have a pit lane starter that was the case but the disadvantage of starting from the pits is not the only penalty that you get share if you don't get out under the grid in good time correct emsa gives you a set window of time that is deemed to be well generous and if you miss that window you not only start from the pit lane after everybody has passed the start finish line you then must serve a drive-through under green flag conditions so car number 84 for d3 racing in the lmp3 category is due back down the pit lane where it started [Music] so into the pit lane for job for arnold a little bit of damage on the right rear of his number 8 tower motorsport [Music] lmp2 and did he get a little tag down towards turn one looks like he was in pretty clear air naps just when he braked when he break jeremy just locked up the the rears maybe a little bit too much brake bias maybe snatched an extra gear not sure the the funny thing is it just yes just completely snapped sideways didn't it i mean he didn't seem to be uh well was he caught now he's gonna win car ahead [Music] i wonder whether he just sort of had to jinx left a little bit as he hit the brakes and maybe that was what caused that car to completely lose its bounty still cold towers across to that stage and then around it went very very quickly uh so rather unfortunately for john franco huge experience of course and certainly unlike him to make a mistake like that but i think he got just a little bit too close i think you're absolutely right to that uh the car was directly ahead of it which actually was there is a point here as in comes the 84 the black and red car for its drive through from starting the pit lane that number eight tower motorsport is significant in the michigan engineering cup two-point advantage over car number 18 coming into this weekend they need to score points at the eight at the three hour mark and at the six hour mark and if they score last place points or i should say fourth place or fifth place points because there are five cars in the lmp2 category they will get minimum points and all it would take is one segment of the 18 leading all of a sudden their points lead is not only gone but it's seemingly untouchable at that point totally uh not what you want at the start of the race settling into a bit of a groove now in an lmp two then with the united auto sport uh in lp3 rather with austin mccusket who was on pole position he's been passed by jared and jetty who leads mark getting back here from his dirt track racing on saturday coming up from el dorado in ohio got in the car for the warm-up this morning and was quickest and joins oliver askew and chad andretti in that leading lmp3 car but the number two united auto sports usa car dear view for that car in the championship dragging up behind the back straight heading into the inner loop now the outer loop through the chute downhill to turn six there's about a car and a half between them i've got a feeling jeremy this is going to be a battle all day between these two cars in lmp three and don't count out performance tech either dan goldberg is not that far behind only back into the second further back that looks to be an interesting class uh maytag at the front of the field that uh dean cameron driven their shot the purple and black car has pulled away ricky taylor holds on to second and then it's the battle of the cadillacs from third on down yeah he did so it's certainly interesting how the two actors have checked out a little bit and a good start there uh for trista virgie took him ahead of people durrani which would be frustrating for durrani because uh they're losing quite a bit of ground to the rest of the league so both durrani and oliver jarvis who stuck behind durrani those two cars 31 and 55 i think you're a good bit quicker than the number five finding way past it's gonna be difficult they're already uh better part of four seconds behind the floor jeremy interrupter here we've got a fire at the back rear ends at the back left hand side of the cooper mcnail driven by the tech porsche uh and that is uh underneath the rear left wheel well there's all kinds of oil coolers etc in there cooper looking very cool considering the conflagration that is behind him and waiting for him to come into the pit lane which he's doing now the team will know what's going on so they'll be standing by to he manages to hit the pit lane speed limit and he's ready he's watching his left-hand mirror as he comes into the pit lane and pulls very calmly into his box but then oh that's a big fire that's a very big fire indeed but when he was moving forward of course that was all going back behind him as soon as he stopped it engulfed the driver's side of the car but we've already got a number of teams in there helping out including one of the corvette team members i saw down there with a fire extinguisher uh he's pulled up all the way down the far end of the pit lane so that's good work from everybody else but that is a very a very bad start to the ratio that that will be day done for the weathertech porsche yeah for sure that was a performance tech over the wall mechanic i'm pretty sure that was craig burmeister actually going over with the fire bottle to try and help cooper get out initially i thought that was not a great move to pull back into the pit lane where there's all the fuel but he did stop in front of a gap to try and get as many fire extinguishers around as possible but a scary moment for cooper mcneil comes into this race second in the championship after getting the win at the mobile one 12 hours of sebring that is devastating for cooper mcneil and weathertech racing and a full course yellow not for that but the john furrano tower motorsport number eight car leading michelin endurance cup the endurance part of the championship has come to a halt out on the circuit in fact gabrielle aubry got into that car when john brought it in to have it checked over after the first lap incident we've got fire and rescue in the pit lane keeping an eye on the weathertech porsche it was going along very nicely and did he just brush the wall at turn 11. i wonder if he just brushed the wall at turn 11 and that set things in motion maybe that provided a little bit of a problem jeremy with the left rear suspension uh and pushed something in or ruptured something under that rear wheel arch yeah i think you might have to push the axle into you're into the the the drive train somehow and you caused a fairly major configuration note yourself here check the wind direction uh when it when there's a fire because unfortunately you you walk right into it now it's uh that was a very scary moment there all the way around but uh it's surprising to see you know that uh that amount of fire there it must have caused yeah that must be oil or something that's leaking onto the the hot exhaust there i think in that porsche most unfortunate for that team that came in to this weekend in pretty good shape in championship points and uh you're having already uh you had some good results this season including that victory course at the sebring 12 hours this is uh exactly what they didn't want an early end to this race yeah they might well they've got six hours they might be able to get out there and and uh get some more preparation in may before uh for next week um but uh other than that uh that's a short day for that weathertech team we're really unfortunate yeah and jeremy you're right to pick up on that they are entered for the race next week bmw in gtlm only doing the endurance races but this weathertech racing porsche is scheduled for the full season and that's quite a bit of body damage to the outside a crispy looking porsche now at this stage but hopefully they can get out and run around this car and driver combination as a matter of fact with maddie campbell they did test here a few weeks ago so they did get some valuable running but matthew jamine was not here for the test and uh neither jamine nor campbell have ever raced in the six hours before a question jeremy for anoraks like us in a situation like this does that mean that campbell and jomine are still rookies to the race having not driven at all yet no because i mean they will score championship points so um so no in my opinion okay it'll be classified as it'll be it'll be counted as a start even though it wasn't a finish or even a get behind the wheel if they got behind the wheel yeah in the practice practice and or qualifying so no i think that'll be uh an official side if if championship points are awarded um i by my uh estimations uh that'll be a start creation yeah there is a report of oil on track between turns six and eleven no surprise there seeing the fire going on but that means basically from the toe of the boot just before the toe of the boot all the way through the end of the track so that's going to take a bit more cleaning up as well once the track services have gotten to the number eight tower motorsport lmp2 and pulled that off which has now been completed the pass around is set to begin now so then the pits should open soon i'm just checking the full course caution came out at 10 47 a.m and given that the green flag came out at 10 40 this should be a short yellow meaning that the pit lane should not open under this caution right yeah good call good call there shouldn't be any cars that need resetting either well correct well actually look we had a couple of cars in the pits never 84 car were they able to uh stay on the left they get going after the after early drama so they if if they were able i don't know where they're on the racetrack um whether they can uh whether they'll get the wave ground or not tough to say they're mere uh let me see they did drop off jeremy the lead lap so yes but that would be overall oh certainly overall did they lose the lap to the other mp2 cars uh mp3 cars that's the question that's a very good question i think they probably did yes sure go ahead looking at the tracker the 44 of john potter and the 75 of kenny habul are the two that are running around the track right now so i guess that the safety car picked them up and now they need to catch back up to the tail end of the gtd train yeah i think they'd probably be lapped by the overall leader correct that's shay so that that's why they're getting the the wave round they'd binge um so they were behind the the overall leader and behind the safety car so uh because they hadn't been lapped by their individual class leader they are able to run around and pick up the back of the gtd field so we're live on imsa radio and imsa tv jeremy shaw and john hindoff in the haggerty global broadcast center adam rvp racing fuel pit and paddock reporter a very scary moment at the start of the race for john ferrano he's put himself into the guard drill drivers left going down at the turn one lap one that car has been into the pitch gabby aubry took the car over but that has stopped and brought out the full course yellow in between that an even scarier moment for cooper mcneill in the weathertech porsche that car we think brushing the wall at turn 11 and setting into a chain of events into the respect of a fire at the back of the car and we're also hearing that there is uh reports of oil there are reports of oil from turn six all the way through to eleven uh which would be consistent with what jeremy was talking about earlier on with that oil fire at the back of the weathertech porsche the car is behind the wall now and is receiving some major work remember our porsche keys to the race back here racing in four days time so fire in engine compartment never good thing to have wiring looms as well as everything else needing to be changed out and it did look as though that everybody who got to that car from various teams got the fire out quickly but then there's the case of clearing out the extinguishing i know beggars can't be choosers you want me to put the fire out i'll let your car burn to the ground i i hear what you're saying but what i'm saying is there's going to be a lot of work on that weathertech number 79 porsche before we see it again on thursday for the next round of the msa weathertech sports car championship let's take a run through uh with the first of our mazda in race updates in gtd kyle kurtz good leads from poor position the lexus number 14 from trent hinman in the right motorsports porsche the 16 the blue car in second with frank monte calvo in the second of the vassal sullivan lexus in third position we're all behind the safety card at the moment but just so you can spot where your favorites are in the gt le man category it's two corvettes from two bmws but connor de philippe he's got ahead of of john edwards so it's four and tommy miller's got ahead of anthony antonio garcia so both of the teammates have swapped around four from three 24 for 24 behind now 25. lmp3 jared andretti for andretti ortersport ahead of the pool sitting austin mccusker united all the sport usa number two 36 from two from 38 dan goldberg in lmp3 in lmp2 your top three win all the sport the number 11 from ben keating in second position for p1 matheson that is the 52 wins card then dwight merriman for error motorsport in third position at the top of the shop after a very forceful move uh early on in the piece on the first lap racing with kerb again the dpi accurate in cameron in the number 60 the black and pink car running with uh the auto nation and sirius xm sponsorship leads the connie minolta acura from two cadillacs make that uh four cadillacs excuse me and ollie jarvis in seventh position for master motorsport new engine overnight for the 55 a new two-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that's how they stand with just on 18 minutes to go any minutes gone five hours 42 [Music] foreign [Music] um [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] um [Applause] oh one or two teams trying to decide jeremy if they need to do something tactically here it doesn't break down easily it's not like the old days when we were at le mans when basically a stint was an hour and therefore you knew if everybody was going well they would be coming in about the top of each hour that's not how it works here and six hours doesn't break down exactly for the dpi cars at the front of the race no but it's around about 40 minutes for a stop these days for the prototypes it's a pretty quick track and um so yeah not much more than 40 minutes probably um between each of their stops so there's an awful lot of stops during a six hour race uh but uh yeah i think you know the the pits are closed right now so i i can't see anybody that they're not they can't come in during this caution period i can't really see anybody giving up the uh the position at the uh the restart to come in after we start making hits i'm having said that number 55 car for example that's stuck at the back there that had the engine change shea was talking about earlier on they they just weren't happy with what they saw it's a brand new engine for this race that they came here with but they had some some turbo to boost problems in both of the first pack two practice sessions and then after qualifying decided look let's if in doubt take it out uh so they did they changed the engine uh and uh you know they are stuck behind the particular five car and 31 which is directly ahead at number 55 on the racetrack wouldn't surprise me to see perhaps in 55 come in uh right soon after we go back to green uh just to get some clear track appear to come out still on the lead lap having made the stop and maybe can make up some ground so when the other guys do come in uh they perhaps might have been able to leapfrog it so that's the sort of reason why you might see one of these cars coming into the pits i think fairly soon keys to the race will refresh them as we go through we will have the michelin porsche race tech at the end of the race check the flag ends the race here starts the conversation hashtag michigan prt anything you spot that you want to have a chat about you drive the agenda in that race that's post race tech michelin poster is tech coming up after the race today here on himself rs2 xm202 as well around the us looks like we're going back to green flag racing has been him to describe as a quick [Music] yellow flag period and through goes dear cameron to take the restart it's down towards turn one the ball city ricky taylor driven cunningham accurate right up his tailpipes and the dpi fields stretch off then through the s's through two three and four turn four merely a kick flat out for these cars then the rest of the lmp2 field said thomas leave levitt leading for win number 11 car [Music] doing a nice job on the front of the fields and very nice job brilliant restart there for the number well not a good result for number 14 lexus because that's dropped back uh at least one position uh but a good a good restart for the other elections carnival 12 which is actually made up of position but it's a new leader now i think katrin hinman has got parts of his fellow tbsa scholarship with uh kyle kirkwood to lead the class now for right motorsports in the number 16 porsche in the lead of gtd down the inside at turn one is where he made that move stick good job yeah that was uh down towards turn one and a smashing run up the inside by the porsche number 16. the right porsche trent hinman who oh and another prototype spin this is turn eight the heel of the boot with the the and that was jim cox third place in uh jim cox dropping down to sixth place in lmp three drop all the way up the back let's see if they know the dawson racing car still a wee bit further back no harm done i think no that's another under breaking just tag the right front on the guard rail drivers left as he'd gone around and that jeremy again uh just showing you how difficult these cars are to drive on the restarts before the start of the restart before the mission of tires get up the temp and pressure that was again another lock up under heavy braking there and that again is the area like turn one where the wind will be behind that car yeah indeed so and uh that's a shame for it for jim cox i don't think he hit anything so she'll be able to continue talking for lmp3 very briefly before we just see a pit stop there for number one car again i think that's the strategy i was talking about before perhaps i felt they were stuck behind some other cars down the order so come in get out of sequence try and get some clear air turn some fast laps and move up the order once everybody else has submitted their pistols which won't be for a while at gtd but another note the lmp3 number 84 car did get the pass around having uh started for the pit lane and served the penalty hit stop thereafter it is back on the lead lap and on the tail end of the cars in lmp3 that's number 84. disappearing at the front of us again 1.8 seconds his lead after two laps in that number 60 car for my shank racing with curb again that car is absolutely checking out tremendous effort by dane cameron in new zealand he really is uh making a mark they've had a disappointing start to the season and the last couple of races olivia platt for some reason just really struggling just wasn't happy with the way the car was set up but they had a good test here a few weeks ago uh clearly olivier in particular much more uh happy with the the balance of that guy much more than his liking dan cameron of course a lot of experience in this cars after the last few years with team penske and taking advantage of that now john [Music] out of down in the pit lane we saw a pit stop there and we'll take this vp racing field pit update uh jeremy hit the nail on the head for the number one call to the race lamborghini going off strategy trying to get corey lewis a little bit of clean air ahead of him and of course remember they are involved in that michelin endurance championship fight so perhaps back time into that three-hour mark well that was another one of our keys to the race porsche keys to the race michigan endurance cup points coming in at uh three hours and at the end of course and there will be people for whom that is important we've seen down through the years if the endurance cup jeremy people have been prepared to go off strategy in the longer races with the hope that they'll be able to get back on for the end of the race just to pick up those extra few points for the championship it's a trophy at the end of the year let's be honest that is exactly right exactly what you were talking about at the top of the show big picture here and uh you know that's it's a it's a long race there are all sorts of strategies to be played out and there's some for some teams that focus uh have different focuses some of them are focused particularly on the michelin endurance cup series that's the the the carbon wallet last year and the number one car they want to do it again [Music] the game camera in each of the last for two laps since uh the restart once 31.7 for daily camera just put them into perspective the lap record was set here two years ago in the mazda uh 129.6 but uh actually by qualifying times we're not quite as the cars aren't quite as quick this year different tar being used by michelin you know compared to the last time we were here at watkins glen international it seems to be a little bit more conservative so we don't have quite the ultimate pace i think in dpi as we had before so don't expect that lap record of olivia clark to be broken during this race even though we've got perfect conditions right now [Music] just a tiny bit warmer i'm getting reports of people down in the pit lane saying that the 88 degrees on the track temperature anyone in the air but it feels warm and toasty and those three driver combinations might just come into play a little bit later on in the day we've only got four cars in the field total with two drivers in them zero one for cadillac chip ganassi racing granger vanessa and kevin magnussen and the 60 the lead card dane cameron and olivier play that jeremy was just talking about dean cameron used to driving this race with just two drivers as it used to be him and jpm sharing an acura and i can remember interviewing him many a time getting out of the car completely drenched and the other two driver cars are both of the corvettes tommy milner and nick tandy sharing the number four and antonio garcia and jordan taylor sharing the number three so for those drivers it's going to be a busy and tiring day in elementary 2 and lmp3 and gtd by the way you have to run three drivers the option not given to those amateur classes [Music] thank you uh this from tower motorsports from star works hello man thanks for this uh a broken tooling in the start incident that was repaired but lost drive in the number eight car that was what caused the first full course yellow half an hour gone in the race and still dead camera by two and a half session seconds rather with uh ricky taylor in second and the ally cadillac in third kevin kobayashi is the first of the cadillacs it's right motorsports now at the front of gt dear torna as ben hinman has got five the vasa sullivan lexus trip which sits in behind him in second and third behind that is the nte sport audi that's the white and red stripe number 42 and jeremy jeremy has news of uh the number 84 the dawson racing theodore olson driven car that started from pit lane yeah that's right sorry from the the pit lane they had a report of vibration uh during the uh warm-up this morning i think they only did a couple of laps [Music] that they they had to start from the pit lane serve their penalty back on the track now and uh everything apparently seems to be uh a-okay in that membrane floor car in fact tortilla that also has managed to get past the championship leader agar roberts in the early stages uh after the restart so that count running well there for calibrating for dawson racing good to see that team back ian and simon dawson they've been uh particularly ian's dad dad lad there uh the uh ian's been around this sport a long long time super enthusiastic been trying to get back to the weathertech championship for for a whole bunch of years and super to see that team back again and ben devlin uh back in there at the wheel although whether that car for the first time in five years or so and he was at school with simon dalton hence the connection there originally both from norfolk and uh good to see that car running well in the early stages uh ben devlin has been very successfully up until recent times of course uh running a hostelry over uh in uh norfolk area and uh we're doing a cracking a cracking job over there one of the highlights being the two-wheeled shoes deer which i think is going to be back up and running again [Music] now that things are changing around a little bit your thoughts on the opening jeremy uh yeah messi again like like yesterday's racing the michelin pilot challenge i guess but um but you know settling down now and interesting to see that uh the the accuracy seem to have good pace particularly dane cameron but as they're working their way through the traffic now uh ricky taylor he had he had to eat down a bit of advantage a great start for him by the way in third place but since then uh that [Music] back to um trying to go around the outside at two and eight i wasn't able to quite pull that off but kobe actually he is he is a star isn't this guy first time here uh qualified the car ahead of people durrani for goodness sake around here that's pretty stout and now he's giving ricky taylor the pulsator all he can handle uh so that's always good to see in the other classes uh you know good start again by uh by stephen thomas keeping up with the good work from yesterday he's got a big lead already for win or just 49 p2 uh holding a nice advantage over zhao janjoti uh the local guy austin mccusker from uh glenn head of long island new york uh tommy milner good start to to get ahead of his teammates antonio garcia that's going to be a battle all the way through isn't it and uh gtd i see that trent hitman still leaves but only just over carl kirkwood and uh thank you monte carlo for the two lectures is right on the tail trent hitman who made that pass at the restart for the leading gt daytona [Music] passed by the uh by the tail end of the cars on the uh in dpi actually the mass is still trying to get fast drifting boat here whoops what was that what a camera that suddenly went to a barrier and i was thinking it was going to be a car the barrier thank you that wasn't let's pick up some of the battles around the circuit and the battle for third position [Music] at the moment which is uh the cavalry kobayashi just six tenths of a second behind him frankenfonda zander they're having a good scrap bit further back has to motorsport ollie jarvis in the white 55 is tristan 48 in the mustang sampling cadillac right there uh ahead of him and those two cars coming towards the end of the lap now [Music] they've dropped back about 14 seconds or so but they're going at a decent pace at the moment no pit stops from the front running cars pits did not orbit during that first fourth course [Music] yellow traffic gonna be an issue from now on until and if we get another break for a full course yellow kobayashi around the outside of turn six going past some of the slower traffic the right in amongst the gt traffic as well right in front of kobayashi now is john edmonton fourth in g2 the long for pfw team rll welcome back to bobby rieholt's team just doing the longer races this year but they've been on the fourth two the powers that be since the last time they were here racing racing with us in himself we have have announced an lmth program for 2023 i'm hearing that the audi and porsche will be ruling out sometime towards the end of this year on the beginning of next for a competition debut at the start of 2023 and then dh the next generation of footballing prototypes in inter and also a global prototype category so those cars will be able to compete at the morning in the world endurance championship [Music] very exciting times to come with anything depending on uh who confirms anything between half a dozen to ten major manufacturers committing to that top level program some of them in the lm h version of it little moment there for the bright red and black number 38 star goldberg in performance tech motorsports third place running lmp3 that was at the inner loop like he got out the sequence with the corners there was running as well still showing his third position i've got a feeling in traffic there he just misjudged that yeah well he was getting out of the way at the battle for fifth overall takes a bit of air coming back onto the track and he's going to lose a couple of positions there so came into the inner loop in third in class comes out in fifth and at the same time by the way as he was having that incident tristan fortier in avoidance look uh checked up didn't lock up and that allowed ollie jarvis to go through in the sixth in the master number 55 just one of those things in traffic jeremy and that's what uh that's what happens around here yeah a big favor there for the mazda because that uh i think probably pretty frustrating for all the drivers to be stuck behind tristan but uh as a result of that miscue there by brad goldberg he's able to get past it now and we'll see whether he can close that gap it's already pretty substantial to uh keeper durrani over seven seconds he's behind even the fifth place car now and uh only 16 seconds behind the race feeder but most unfortunately before tristan vocio made a super start to get past keeper durrani he was overtaken by durrani after restart he's taken that now since theresa the result was after uh online now on that 19 guys finally through an into sixth position see what he can do now [Music] still haven't had an hour of the race six hours when we started uh gt le mans garcia started up the pool position passed early on by his teammate tom milner takes about a second or so behind going through the two [Music] so coming in at lmp3 and austin mccusker has been putting on a clinic in that class and of course now that i say that the last clap time was only six tenths faster than the next faster class consistently two seconds a lap faster than the next fastest class in lmp3 it's mccusker and already who are right now the only lmp3 cars ahead of the gtlm cars but mccusker is still setting faster times than gtlm whereas everybody else is well not mccusker's doing a great job [Music] locally there's a bit of local experience although he's from from long island new york he certainly considers this his home racetrack shay but he hasn't raced here for three or four years into the pits now this is the nte audi and this looks like full service adam is watching this for us fuel and the first set of sticker initial and tires going on to this audi that uh has don mute being installed behind the wheel that's jaden conrad getting out with the old black helmet don yoo getting in with the blue helmet and then to come later will be marcus paula former race winner but a slow stop the field nozzle was out quite a bit of time ago door was still open driver change still going on and the tire change still going on in the right rear but dawn struggling to get the car moving once again i would say they lost easily 12 seconds on that stop and when the fuel nozzle came out to when the car got rolling but only did 42 minutes so what is the driver time here because that wouldn't have needed a full tank of fuel at that point yeah that's why the fuel early but jaden conrad is one of their fast guns in this car as he proved yesterday qualified putting the car third for the starting position uh they would want to get the drive time done for don yoo earlier on and the minimum drive time for the gtd category is an hour and a half so put dawn in now save jayden for later also got drivers up on the wall and some of the dpi pins as well second drive was probably being suited and booted since the start of the race to be honest you always want to be ready just in case there's some kind of rgb and uh he come in early and he might want to change a driver over jeremy yeah just a quick note on that number 42 sure that was the strategic course yeah yeah yes yes the nte card the audi um a strategic yeah it wouldn't have needed a full tank of fuel by any stretch of the imagination at this stage so it would have been a pretty quick uh stop uh in terms of its fuel requirements uh and it'll just take a little bit longer to change the driver but uh again i think a good strategy to get done in that car get his minimum drive time taken care of and then the other two can go on from there shouldn't that shouldn't cost him a lap and that's the crucial thing at this stage in the race just to stay on the lead lap as you can see the uh first of the uh dpi cars on pit lane surprising it's number 31 car that is people durrani not getting out of the car but he is getting new tires and those look pretty darn shiny i don't know if they're stickers or not though uh they might be scraped up now no they're new they're new michelin for people they're not gonna taunt him by giving him used rubber so people are staying aboard the car fuel tires pit top is done waiting on the field nozzle to come out and then people will roar back away up onto the high banks of new york as they are and let's see away goes people and that was a good stop for whalen engineering uh not unusual for the action express team the red white thirty-one car waylon joins the fight uh so green flag pit stops at the front of the field now that was uh around about 45 minutes or so for the front of the field and we have had five laps of yellow in that so expect to see who generally speaking around here do we think might uh have the better fuel mileage i'll come back in a second on that core racing just getting on the grass coming into uh into the inner loop that uh number 54 that's the third-placed lmp3 getting onto the grass and then not feeling that they could uh make the [Music] uh bus stop itself so going round through the through the tires that's george kurtz behind the wheel i'll come back to fuel mileage in a moment because it might play out here between the different kind of patches at the foot of the field but the ally cadillac is in and she adam is watching fuel and tires and koi kobayashi has met the minimum drive time of 30 minutes so that's his daytime right now not likely jimmy johnson taking over the 48 ally that was a good stop too another one of these uh stops done by the action express tent and also into the pit lane tristan beautie the number five mustang sampling racing car have to wait and see if tristan gets out no he's not getting out a windshield clean full of preston early on fuel and did they do tires yes they did [Music] a couple of uh formation laps within that first stick of course but um hopefully we'll get now a full green stint and we can get some sensible data normally working about 14 minutes dormant jeremy for for these cars machine uh normal circumstances at the front of the field that's uh that's gonna be somewhere around [Music] 30 laps here something like that no a bit less than that a little fewer than that 26 27 laps maybe for a great flag yeah about that they're running about 131 132 aren't there uh at the moment if they're at the front of the field yeah more than that that's a quick lap but most laps here you're going to have some traffic to deal with so the majority of that's around about 33s and 34s you lose quite a bit of time around here in canbu traffic and it's been uh the last uh last thought for the for the leader since he he had he's clearly beginning thirty three four actually third to nine last time around the first two i think sevens usually last time now that most of the 33s and 34s so um you know you you save a little bit of fuel certainly that way then running flat out but the only two cars we've seen in the fit so far are the uh to cadillac but the uh the great leader now in lmp2 steven thomas is into the pits for his first service of the day he helped pulled out a big lead over ben cameron though new fastest now for the race 31-7 there for the race leader uh yeah that's getting uh that's getting decent i know he's coming to the end of his fuel run isn't he so the car is getting lighter top three have not stopped yet yeah zero one car is in right now is it right so lane so again we'll keep an eye as the allied cadillac working its way through traffic and sure adam can tell us what's going down at chimkadasi racing coming off a victory last time out of belle isle oh fuel tires and a windshield tear off for anger somebody's feeling fancy already this morning so sticker michelin's on that zero one just waiting on the last bit of fuel this is the cadillac that went the furthest a little mental note of this because b01 getting the best fuel economy so far of the cadillacs and wrangler going back out to play a little bit more back earlier this week from spain aragon doing some endurance testing in europe for one of his other drives same time as high-class racing with kevin and jan magnusson who were there believed i believe rengar and kevin shared it with us on we're there and back with a quick turn around from uh detroit and then back to here but a couple of days testing including some darkness endurance testing at aragon on the full circuit there and we're fully into the pit stops now at the sharp end of the field leader is in shape dane and ricky both of the acuras hitting one lap after the cadillac zero for chip ganassi racing but it is fuel and tires for the meyer tank racing acura that came in from the lead of this race looks like a drinks bottle change as well for dave cameron who will need every ounce of hydration you possibly can get it's a warm one out there and it's just him and olivier flaw sharing this car the tires are done car drops off the air jacks just waiting on fuel a little further down the pit lane the 10. konica minolta cadillac is in and well ricky taylor getting out fuel and tires for ricky they cleaned the windshield off just a tiny little bit dropped the car off the air jacks waiting on fuel now they came in right together how far apart are they going to leave oh i think it's a bit more of a gap now for the 10. also into the pit lane comes the 55 mazda i believe that was harry tinkle's helmet uh just glancing at it so that could have been a driver change for the mazda i'll have to let you know on that the 55 waiting on fuel and away it goes a good stop 32 seconds in the box for the mazda that is exactly what they need to try and defend their race win because they were the race winners here in 2019 it was the summer of mazda and it all kicked off here so starting to get into the rhythm of the race with the pit stops coming now with now all of the top prototypes having stopped we're still waiting for dwight merriman for era motorsport to come in and make their first stop with the number 18 lmp2 ben keating's just taking the 52 fell off madison motorsport out he came in in the lead of class [Music] also jim mcguire yet to stop in the united auto sports number 22 in that category the lmp two category healthy five cars there already had problems for one of them of course the tower car kyle lost drive earlier on after banging the wall pretty tall link needed changing on that that was fixed pretty quickly gabby aubry got stranded out of the circuit and brought out the first and so far only full course caution and in comes dwight merriman in that era of sport right blue car into the pit leg must have been listening to us on the radio of course the air crew club uh style toy was actually sending me a text message a little bit earlier on bragging about dwight's pace uh in this early portion of the race so the era crew which keep in mind they were the daytona winners so daytona wasn't a championship points paying race but it was a michelin endurance points paying race and they come in only two points behind the john furrano and gabby aubry number eight which uh is me see oh no they are back out on the track with 16 laps down on the next in class so that's going to be a good day for era if they can keep it on the straight and narrow fuel and tires looks like it is for that blue machine with the lightning bolt on the side [Music] report there starting to get busy again out on the circuit as once again you'd think with three and a half miles or thereabouts we'd have enough room for the cars but it's that phenomenon that we've noticed down through the years and endurance racing that we've turned clumping as the cars seem to be attracted to each other little groups of cars because then get bigger and as the faster cars come through of course jeremy that becomes part of the skill of the drivers i have heard a number of drivers ollie jarvis actually telling me last week in the interview that we played just before we started michigan countdown to green he thinks it's harder to be in one of the lower class cars because you can't look forward as much as you want to when you've got prototypes and lmp2s lmp3s and gt lavon's coming in if you're a gdd driver you've barely got time to look at where you're supposed to be breaking in turning in yeah that's a very good point you know it it is super busy around here it's it's uh you're super high high speed as well and that is you're one of the reasons why because it's physical as well it's as shame to say it's pretty hot around here as well it's mentally and physically draining around here and that's why we see some of the teams going to three drivers you have to run three drivers in the the pro-am classes lmp23 and gtd but uh in the gtlms and the dpis some are running two drivers summoning three the main reason they're running three is because of that physical and mental um endurance that you need for these races the capacity to to cope with all everything that's going on around you all of the time just a quick note about the the pit stops uh dane cameron has extended his lead at the restart here over ricky taylor it's now it's over seven seconds between first and second it was about four before they came in for the round of pitstops harry tinkle by staying out that extra few laps was able to leapfrog uh jimmy johnson who's at the wheel now number 48 cadillac so uh the harry tank is up into the fifth position uh and they're going to try and track down if you can peter durrani in fourth marco andretti chilling out on the pit wall no sign of him being suited and booted yet to get into the lmp three car from the family team andretti in second position he started the race at the moment uh austin mccusker for united sports usa in that leisure the number two car the dark blue red white car started on paul and is still inside the top ten very good run indeed he's got the lmp three ahead of uh some of the lmpt's now in fairness has not pitted yet which is why they're running a little bit out of sync mark was had a busy weekend was on the dirt in el dora on saturday night which jumping on a flight from ohio up to here and run ran the car this morning in the morning warm-up so thank goodness there was a morning for him to do that pit stops from gtd and more brand new michelin tires being employed going on to the carbon audi this time as we have our first track limits warning that's for car number 28 the allegra motorsport mercedes so clearly dana morad pushing a bit hard on an in-lap but this audi into the pit lane kyle macquarie is a guy who doesn't need lots of michelin rubber underneath him he's used to cars moving around and drifting he is staying aboard this audi as there is trouble further down pit lane for the 75 sun energy one mercedes they've been in the pit lane for way too long at this point they're actually the pit box in front it looks like they're going back behind the wall i just caught a glimpse of them being pushed back but 41 seconds stationary for the carbon audi means that they were stationary long enough to get the entire 40-second fuel dump into their car why is that important because this car won the last time out but lost it after a refueling violation was discovered post-racing yes the sun energy one mercedes back behind the wall the right rear tire is off the car it might be a mounting issue or it might actually be broken suspension not sure i'll follow up on that and get back to you sure i would say that that uh hub even without a wheel on it does not look to be at the right angle i think they've got either a talling or an upright issue that is not the right angle for the right rear wheel [Music] and the [Applause] [Music] car is going back behind the wall [Music] so we'll do a full mazda in race update uh in about three minutes time but plenty to talk about so far and we're running nicely now with uh 35 minutes since we went back to green flag racing over to new zealand's six or two more undulations than at the airfield circuit of silverstone there was a good race there this afternoon in round four the british at gt congrats to those who did well and a reminder we're back here in four days time [Music] for his standard meeting of imsa we'll have uh it's a prototype challenge mission pilot challenge at imsa weathertech sports car championship thursday and friday sort of mid-week work week racing um which i think might work well here sure how that works in so it kind of takes us away from a few other sporting events i think which is probably just well just as well before i do the uh the hour the in-race update uh as we've covered the hours some quick thoughts from you yeah just uh doing cameron the wreath the overall race here just working his way through some traffic again he's just turned at 133 on this last lap the previous that was 135.2 just shows you how much time you can lose uh the fastest lap of the race is a 131.7 so far so uh three and a half seconds lost and working his way through some some slower cars but the gap still from first and second it's around about six seconds reagan bender zander up into the third place now uh after the number 48 car slipped back after tracking down or staying with ricky taylor the gap between the two has actually come down a little bit since the pit stop so just under two seconds at the moment jose durrani in fourth position and then harry tignall trying but not really succeeding at the moment in closing the gap in the number 55 master in fifth position [Music] right an hour is gone let's take a look at how they stand then and we'll start at the top of the standings in this master in race update it's too accurate at the front of the field six seconds between dan cameron who's been in the start of the from the start of the race took over on lap one from the paul sitting ricky taylor 16 the pink purple and black car from the blue and purple car the number 10 konica minolta accurate second it's another two seconds back to rengapandazanda [Music] that's the whale in engineering number 31 the red white car five seconds further back and he's got seven and a half on a harry tingle who started the mastermind sports master dpi the little two leader four cylinder turbocharged 55 in fifth and jimmy johnson is now in the allied catalog number 48 after the pit stops and tristan fortier in the five mustangs something jdc miller bought sport the dark green gold car uh had to avoid one of the p3 cars in the inner loop and that dropped him some time earlier on in lmp2 eighth overall is stephen thomas driving a cracking race for greenhouse sport in the number 11 origin and in second position ben keating is in 13th position for pr1 matheson motorsports 52 and in third in lmp2 it's guy smith for united data sports in the dark blue red and white number 22. in lmp3 austin mccusker has the lead position for united not supports us in the number two car that's ninth position uh overall for that last year second place jarrod andretti for andretti or sport and third in lmp3 george kurtz for four sport 54 despite having a little off track excursion excursion in that uh number 54 the white tangerine car gt le man 10th overall has the first of the corvettes it's tom milner ahead of tonio garcia who was on pole position until he was overtaken by his teammates four from three the two uh the two corvettes then in third place it's bmw team rl on the 25 car connor de philippe who overtook john edwards team earlier in the piece [Music] and in gt detail the trend hitman 43 at the front for porsche and the 911 gt3 are number 16 from breitbart sports that's the light blue car for the two bright yellow vasa sullivan lexus rcf gt3s kyle kirkwood pulls it in second in the 14 from his teammate frank calvo in the 12th and the top six made up by allegra motorsports the silver with stars and the stripes uh certain tfg gt3 number 28 robbie pawley and he's having a decent battle with fat motorsports porsche that's the plaid porsche behind the wheel of that that is your mazda in race update we'll have another one in about 45 minutes [Music] saw himself radio and imsa tv together and now into the meat of the race jeremy now we're getting some meaningful laps now we're finding out what sort of laps people can turn in traffic and this is where the drivers earn their money it's hard enough to drive one of these cars where you've got a clear track in qualifying on your own but now picking your way through battles this is what the teams look for this is why people get hired and the drivers yes they're looking their fastest time but they'll be looking at their stint average and what they want to know is how they've done given all of the conditions and ricky taylor with two michelins on the grass there at the top of turn four he's leaving nothing on the table at the moment yeah that's exactly right john it was super tough there there was a huge lot of traffic including the lmp uh three leader uh the all of the dp all the gtd cars just about everywhere dog they had to pass on that lap and ricky taylor's excuse me dan cameron was lack time last time he won 40.5 remembering heavy to 31's 32s and that was awfully tight going down towards the inner loop but it really is like a video game for ricky taylor there and super tight as he passes the uh yeah the gtd uh second place car and the lmp3 leader at the same time but the gap between first and second has come down to about three seconds they've sorted themselves out but the real guy who's charging right now is regular zander in third position uh he is getting a lot closer to ricky taylor which is why ricky the pole sitter had to work so hard to get around all that traffic and share there's been an incident between uh a couple of cars one of them the red and black number 38 prototype that has got some damage that's the performance tech car that was running quite well yes and that was the car that uh just had a shark bite taken out of the left-hand side contact between it and the 42 of don yoon as dawn was being lapped by gtd cars as well as lmp3 cars as well as dpi cars it was very frenetic for the moment down in turn one race control is investigating they have just come through and said no further action on that contact but it has resulted in the 38 going back behind the wall for at least the time being while they assessed the damage well that was a shame very well showing me that to be honest gtln uh leader into the pits number four car tom and miller great start for him and managed to get past his teammates ontario last year they were running just a couple of seconds i hope or so ahead for the best of the bmw's college again not very far ahead of the second one which is john edwards uh and in between those two at the moment he's been treating the election two second place car trying to work his way back up toward uh steve stephen thomas who got a huge lead now in the lmp2 category that uh incident review [Music] you might ask why we say that if nothing's happened it's and it's quite important actually it's a reasonable question but it's important for race control to let people know that they are looking at it including us and the teams of course uh and that they have made a decision on it that they haven't just ignored it and if they don't tell us they're looking at it we won't know and various teams up and down will go whoa whoa you didn't have a look at that yes well we did but we didn't do anything about it why do we see it so that's why they do it so that everybody knows what the procedure is uh in for a class leader into the pit lane it's the number two united order sports here adam if it ain't broke don't fix it they're not going to take austin mccusker out of that car just quite yet fuel windshield tear off and new tires though as well as a new drinks bottle also into the pit lane the 25 bmw it was conor d felipe who brought it in and conor might just take that car back out the 36 for jarrett andretti the lmp3 machine is in fuel and tires for that car no driver change there either that was the car that came in from second place jarrett goes back out let's see where he cycles back in trying to catch mccusker has not been an easy task for anyone today we've also had the allegra motorsport number 28 mercedes into the pit lane john potter has just brought the acura into the pit lane for magnus that car i would expect john to stay behind the wheel only one hour and eight minutes has elapsed and the minimum driving time for gtd is an hour and a half we've had robbie foley and for turner motorsports and zach grobashot in for the faf porsche as well so it's turning into a busy pit lane and it is spengler who takes back out the bmw the number 25 machine so that's interesting a corvette changing their drivers seemingly at every stop with nick tandy taking over for tommy milner bmw have three drivers and it appears that they're doing the same [Music] call that into the pit lane this is the bright yellow car yep this is the yellow one the championship leader which i feel like we need to point out every time basically to everybody else on the track to be aware give them a little bit of extra room because it's jordan taylor taking over and uh jordan by my count has not ever won he's sailing six hours at the glen so looking to try and check that off the bucket list today taking over for antonio garcia uh yep that's correct jordan's number one this phrase really hard to believe that any tracks exist that jordan hasn't won on uh also into the pit lane at fuel and tires for the corvette should say uh also into the pit lane john edwards in the 24 bmw that is the black one corvette racing just waiting on the fuel at this stage and it is a clear shot out of the pit lane nobody in the box ahead of them which is the connoisseur box so it's easy for jordan he doesn't have to think about where to pit it's just instinctual uh a question about that coming in from a number of people on himself that's how you get in touch with us by the way here at the hagerty global broadcast center how are the pits stalls allocated race to race championship points is how the pit stalls are allocated so based on how well you've done thus far in the season that's where your champ your pit box is and they stagger them according to classes and it is a bit tricky there on end but just think the further up the championship you are the closer to pit out you will be so what we had there then was the championship leading dpi then the championship leading gtlm being the two full pro classes they were pitted at the very far end of the pit lane then the other classes the leaders go through that that's the overall championship rather than any of the sub championships and and generally speaking then it then it's the second place cars the third place cars etc correct and uh the pit lane just to to give you an idea for the first few boxes uh to confirm that wayne taylor racing then corvette racing then mazda motorsport and then would have been weathertech racing so the pit lane for this weekend is staggered with the pro course the pro cars more toward the front but normally it goes dpi gtlm uh lmp2 gtd lmp3 and so on and so forth but we've got more pit collars into the lane comes in 14 this was the pole sitting car kyle kirkwood i believe double stinting and yes thank you pam for dropping that information into me uh to know ahead of time so kyle's staying aboard fuel tires and look like they cleaned windshield for him too so it's practically his birthday just waiting on the fuel and then kyle will go back out for his second stint to this six hour race she added with that vp racing field paddock report and the fuel is determining factor there for that pit stop all the other work was done before the squeal the michelin tires heralded the departure on the pit lane speed limit of that lexus now heading back out into the uh back into the fight and the sister car had a driver change jeremy yeah i believe uh robert mcginnis has taken over from uh frankie monty calvin number 12 car that was running in the third position before the pit stop the other car is running really well has it hasn't yet pitted the number 28 card that has been difficult i think and uh you're both the leaders in now in uh gtd and because of all this this cycle of stops now corey lewis who stopped out of sequence or he took over the number number one car out of secrets after 10 laptops [Music] but you could do a pit stop fairly soon four hours and 46 minutes to go and penalties coming in shay adam is watching race control this time it's just a warning next time they will not be so friendly but big brother is watching at all times by big brother i mean race control it was a late pit entry a warning for car number three that was antonio garcia who brought it in yesterday we saw the race decided by a pit entry penalty no spoilers there but big brother they watch they know and uh they'll give you one warning but if it's in a heat of the moment situation it might not be surprised [Music] i think they've got away with one there to be honest um first in discretion so let's just uh again remind ourselves what's going on at the front of the field as the leading cars have all done that first stop so it's three point eight seconds ahead for the fire shack acura conning him and although in seconds 3.6 seconds behind johnson into the fight back into the insect competition last time around 134.1 which is decent enough through traffic learning all the time of course being successful in sports cars learning new skills all the time of course with these parallel indycar program and these sports cars a little bit bigger quite a lot less horsepower and probably a bit more aero than the indy cars it's a very different beast but transferable skills nonetheless particularly on road courses now he's clearly building up his confidence last time around harry tignall puts in a 32-0 for the car that jimmy johnson is behind at the moment although by 25 seconds that's the best time for that mazda [Music] that 48 ally car sitting in uh sixth position at the moment some 41 seconds away from the leader as i said 26 seconds now away from the car ahead of it seven seconds ahead of tristan fortier in the slightly delayed mustang sampling journey and 40 years last lap 33-9 keep an eye on that because it was 34 the lap before uh he's minding traffic at the moment let's just check to make sure that's all it is so they expect 48 to be a bit quicker than that um unless he's running to refuel going to keep an eye on that one as i say was delayed in the in the bus stop when he was i think only one place further up i think he's only been up as high as sixth um well he was fifth he made a great start was that sixth on the grid yes uh but you're right he was passed with the first at the restart by the number 31 car and and after that was holding tilly holding up number 55 for a bounty hold up to 55 cars so when with that when that instant when he had to run off the road in an avoidance of number 38 uh he is uh he just slipped back which is kind of the pace he has been running to be honest so uh you it's a long long way to go and uh yeah but his best lap in that number five car is it's a full second off for everybody else in dpi so far in this race another message from race control john the incident involving 48 28 that's the allegra mercedes and the 48 of jimmy johnson the allied cadillac under review we saw michael de quesada very briefly nudge johnson at going into turn at a dangerous spot but race control is taking another look at that green pretty quick to turn these around they haven't had a raft of incidents so it's not as if they're backing them up and they do like to get answers as quickly as possible even in the longer races and the teams appreciate that you hear us talk a lot about consistency of decision it's like it's like any umpire or referee in any sport and you want to be able to point to something and say well last time this is what happened at this time well yeah same thing has happened so same penalty yeah absolutely and the guys up in race control are all uh are the current or former racers and so they've got a bit of experience on the circuits themselves so they can look at the incidents with uh experienced eyes to rob lobas up in london who has been looking after us for the first part of the race today we welcome in case cobb for our radio listeners and thanks to alissa up in charlotte he's been looking after us for our tv side of things and it's jake now who is looking after us there so a little bit of a pit stop with a change of personal on the technical side of things they've all been very busy and they making sure rather that we get to the world in sound and vision himself rs2 around the world and on xm202 behind off and shore in the hagerty global broadcast booth adam with an update in this vp racing fuel pit report there has been action on that uh incident between the 48 and the 28 and blame has been handed to jimmy johnson but it's just a warning but incident responsibility again race control watching making decisions quickly and deeming that not enough to ruin someone's race but if it happens again they will become another building okay another team who have dodged a penalty there that's a couple of warnings we've seen handed out well you know there will be teams on their first indiscretion that will hopefully get exactly the same treatment that's what i'm talking about with consistency there jeremy but that's fine yeah you know this is you know first time instrument he has actually took the the walking spin six hours before jimmy johnson did it back in 2010 i think it was with um yeah with uh alex gurley and john fogley who was sixth and in dp that year so he does have experience here he knows what it's all about but there wasn't the same amount of traffic back in those days there's only two classes in the rolex gt in those days so it's it's a bit different now and he's certainly been there struggling but he's he's fallen 30 odd seconds behind the mazda and off when they came out of the pits after the stop he was directly behind the mazda so uh he's lost a fair bit of ground there but to be fair tristan but he still maintained a a very similar gap back to tristan beaujo who's behind him but certainly up towards the front things have been closing up uh dane cameron now at the moment leads by only about a second over ricky taylor so the amount the two accuracy close right up right behind them also is ranger van der zander where i talked about the group earlier on he has been closing in and then uh as we're getting ready for the next round of pit stops uh people durrani uh had been closed upon in fourth position he's just in the pits now but harry tinkle has made good progress he's now only about 11 seconds behind the overall leader remember quite a while ago it was over 16 seconds great battle as well going on between uh fourth and fifth in gt dear tournament with aidan reed in the number 96 turner motorsport car battling with michael t casada for a leg really got side by side a moment or two ago while jeremy was speaking in that uh in a loop area and now the sound of rattle comes in the pit lane means it's another pit stop for adam to tell us about it this time people has been pulled out of the car by felipe nasser about the only guy in the pit lane that i think could actually pull the people out of that party with the 31 whalen engineering cadillac fuel tires and another brazilian to go out on the racetrack and set some fast lap times jimmy johnson is in the pit lane and we'll stay in the fit lane that is his stint done for now jimmy out of the 48 ally cadillac simon pagino taking over so they have cycled through all three of their drivers within the first hour and a half of this race fuel and tires for that car as well and checking the damage to the back left of that car making sure that everything is okay where the mercedes met it and also in the treadline tristan beauties for the five mustang sampling cadillac have to wait and see if tristan stays aboard for a triple or if they hand over to rookie to this race at least and track lloyd duvall and not so looking to this race in traffic's previous race winner sebastian bourdain 37 minutes on the stint uh or 23 laps for people durrani in the 31 red white cadillac 36 and 23 laps for jimmy johnson and 36 and a half and 23 laps for mustang sampling 40 year driven car they were all green flags or i think we could say that 23 laps uh is probably about the run 23 or 24 laps for those uh dp eyes so expect cameron in in a couple reggae van de xander probably next time around jeremy yeah uh judge about the last round of pixels the the next car to be in the pit lane would be the zero one that gave me two laps after the uh the 48 and the five last time around and then the the the 60 number 10 number 55 came in one lap after zero one so that's what we should be watching out over the next couple of laps just a quick update when i did it to declan brennan uh looking after the sun energy one racing number 75 as we get four wide across the stripe there i actually breathed in as if that was going to make a blind bit of difference quite frankly it wasn't right rear suspension issue it's being fixed they will get that car back out so the team worked very hard to get the energy one machine back out the number 75 car back on the circuit saw what you saw was absolutely uh correct just going back to those stint lens jeremy um interesting to me that there were those differences in uh those pit stops i can't imagine they're that different flat out it suggests to me that the cars go 26 27 26 27 instead of 22 and 23 under the under that with the yellow flag there must have been if they've just got a better yellow flag map and they're using less behind the safety card which cars well the cars who came in later on that last stop because the only difference there wasn't really that much difference in the previous times that they had stopped but we had yellow uh in there we had six laps of five depths of yellow um and it was the start of the race to that point that was their first stop so the only difference that as i said i wonder if they have a better map under yellow than the cars who pitted earlier because as you see it was uh i mean ollie jarvis uh he went three laps four laps longer than the whale and cadillac on that first new race leader here and uh we've got ricky taylor there while they were passing traffic getting passed on the inside heading down into turn one and reggae van der zander is right there as well so the three leaders absolutely knows the tail and harry turtle in the mouth so he's only about another seven seconds back that was awfully tight heading down the front straight to passing the uh the uh third place car in lmp2 that was ben keating and a whole bunch of other cars as well that was really really tight but a new first change of the lead in this race since the uh first level well that's just dropped the green flag because there's a change on the first lap but since then yeah and that was the four wide across the line that uh i mentioned uh at the start of this lap and that did result in a change of lead so back to the front of the failed dent for the car that qualified on pool position so only two cars have led 10 and the 60 [Music] and that could have been very messy and very expensive three class leaders in amongst that as well first and second in dpi first in the lmp two category and first in gtd are all there together goodness me i did see i've breathed in and i didn't see it not applying a difference honestly number two that seems early for me but time goes by very quickly when we're having fun uh was that the standard stop share adam will tell us okay with that one uh because austin mccusker was the first of the lmp3 cars they came in the last time around so it makes sense that that machine will be the first one back in it's still showing the customer behind the wheel so triple stinting forehead not going to be doing another stint out on the racetrack at least right this minute ranger vandazanda out of the last timeout race winning cadillac for chip ganassi racing the 0-1 machine will have kevin magnussen aboard this fuel new tires waiting on the fuel and the driver's side door is down kevin is fully strapped in and ready to go boy he's going to enjoy racing at watkins glenn international no that that wasn't right he did 35 laps in the first hit and he was only getting 10 laps ago so there was something awry there with the united auto sport car uh his uh now whether they're trying to do something with regards to strategy but they're not haven't been a full season they're not full they're not in the michigan endurance cup so that one might be following up with uh united sport usa i'll leave to get on with that and that was the car that was leading lmp3 it's now dropped to the back of the class and the andretti or sport guard which picked it at roughly the same time uh carries on in the leads olson in the dawson racing 84 car now in second position huge lot up for the leader as they come in the leading he certainly should they should be putting new tires on every stop is what the dpi teams told me this is a driver change for the 60 dame cameron getting out olivier claude getting in i did not see the driver's side open for the 10 though so richard taylor staying aboard for yet another stint fuel and tires going into the conic minolta acura just behind them though second in the championship coming in this weekend the 55 mazda perry tigner looking to try and jump that 60 acura as they gave him a new drinks bottle new tires a lot of fuel and waiting on the fuel no he's not going to be able to get ahead of the acura but he's much closer to those two actors now than when he came into the pit lane and ricky taylor pivotally still ahead of the mire shank racing acura 0-1 car he's just going down the back straight at the moment jeremy and towards the uh the chicken towards the inner loop so he's still behind the two accuracy number of people mentioning how they're noticing dry the uh pit crew holding on to the cars it is quite a pronounced downslope jeremy from the middle of pit lane down towards the exit that was a little touch there as well between the number 60 shack racing car and squeezing down on the uh andretti sport car wasn't it as it was going by the lmp3 car i think olivia platt might get the finger wagging for that one possibly just a warning as in comes the number 11 win or sport leader in lmp2 into the pit lane [Music] and there's a move over by olly clark she didn't realize that uh the lmp3 car the 3600 car was sitting alongside him in the race control channel for that meantime as i said lmp3 leader in a blue yellow and a bit of carbon fiber they've they've gone through quite a few till ends of that car this weekend yes they have but now the white and gold helmet of tristan nunez is clambering limberly behind the wheel of this car taking over for stephen thomas as yay the 75 sun energy one mercedes back out on the pit lane it lives again great job by that crew to get it turned around fuel and tires for the win auto sport number 11 the lmp2 car that came in from the lead steven thomas doing a great job they got their timing right though because he came in with about an hour and 31 minutes elapsed that car having already made two pit stops the time that you're on the pit lane does not count against your drive time so that might mean that steven is still a bit short on the hour and a half needed to do and we'll see where everybody else decides to come in because drivers such as ben keating and dwight maverick who are still out on the track now as well as jared andretti uh we've got olson kurtz robinson and mccusker are all drivers who would be applicable to come into the pits anytime now and have their day done oh no and the car 11 actually just got a drive-through penalty were speeding in the pit lane they were eight kilometers an hour over the limit so that 11 car that had been leading gonna need to come back for a uh a discretion from race control that stinks for that team [Music] sorry what was the penalty four shift speeding on pit lane plus eight car eleven not even close but not very close see if you're gonna push the uh speed limit um you know you might as well have it in double figures uh so you're gonna get the same might as well get home for a sheep as alarm as the uh as the sea that's saying goes uh coming up to the quarter past midday sun highest in the sky now and we've got the the four lit the top four now closer they've been for a long long time john we've got uh ricky taylor still was able to hang on to that lead after that pitch two actors nose detail now heading over the crest there towards turn eight uh kevin magnussen is only a second or so behind them and much closer to them now is harry tinkle in the number 55 mazda that's the car that started the taylor field in dpi was kind of stuck behind a couple of cars early on made great progress since then harry tickle now who is within four seconds of magnuson and within seven seconds of the overall lead you might remember maybe 20 laps ago it was about 16 seconds behind so big progress there from that mass it's got a fresh engine for this race precautionary change after they just didn't like some of the data they'd seen on the one they came here with it to start the weekend and uh it seems to be running very nicely now it's jeremy shaw he's in the hangar the global broadcast center with me john handoff after the race tenths of a second for molly player who is charging and another second and a half further back he's kevin magnussen so they have jeremy closed up a wee bit since that pit stop cycle quite a lot actually well no that to be fair they were actually they're actually notes to tell before the the pit stops because they were because they went across the line again the big gainer though there is harry tickle he's now just five points four seconds off the overall lead in that number 55 percent so that is the big gainer john just another couple of notes with that pit stop for the neighbor extra pizza number 11 car even with that drive-through tristan nunez has been able to maintain the lead in lmp2 such as the job that stephen thomas did in that first stint but uh with pit stops now for the other contenders uh guy smith had done a great job to move himself up to second position in carnival at 22. he's now handed that car to jim mcguire that's the united car isn't it yeah the united car indeed yes coming to turn to the back stretch perfectly perfectly timed jeremy through the bus stop now thank you very much adida and in uh in gtlm uh nick tandy it still needs some jordan taylor the gap between those two it's come down a bit actually it's about three seconds now then the two bmw's already locked up just a few seconds behind in third and fourth in lmp3 uh most notable is uh theodore olsen in the number 84 car uh that started from the pit lane up into second place it was it's just in the pits right now hopefully for scheduled service for its uh second uh schedule they had had a penalty to serve because it started from the pit lane earlier on but a brilliant run from olsen up into second position behind only jared andretti who's leaving the category after that we think unscheduled stop or out of sequence stop certainly for the united auto sports car of columbia 2 austin mccusker that was in the pits just about five laps ago yeah that dawson racing stint that was 15 nearly 51 minutes jeremy and uh a full 20 uh 28 laps i think yeah 28 laps so they've they've done very well there and as you see it having suffered the economy they're unfolding that's something they'll have to learn they didn't get out of the pits in time to grid up properly so that's not the pit lane that's a a penalty in itself isn't it having to wait for everybody to go by get the grain flag then you've got to come in with a green flag to do it a drive through but uh they've made the best of that and that car's had good pace jeremy very good place theodore also don't know much about that driver if i'm honest no he's 21 years of age he's from norway originally but he's been based over here for a while he's been driving a fair bit of time in radicals he's on various other series there as well but it's certainly been a long time goal of his to race in him to wear the tech sports car championship they're with dorsal racing with uh ian dawson and his son simon and they they they wanted to to race last year but the pandemic kind of pulled a halt to that so here finally he is making his debut and that was a really strong run by young theodore an excellent excellent performance by him to get into second place before his pit stop [Music] so yeah and that's put them right back in the game uh to be honest right back in the game who's also back in the game harry tickle is now pretty much with the leaders we've got the top four cars covered by not very much overall as we uh we look at the two pmw still scrapping away they're just they're three or four seconds behind the corvettes but uh perhaps but you know still very much in in the battle here the gtlm and the yeah just if you're wondering where the fifth of the gt lm car cars are oil fire on that car earlier in the race to get back we haven't seen it yet they'll be scrambling around our porsche keys to the race reminding everybody we're back here in four days so anyone who has problems well they're not going anywhere so at least they have some time in the garage area in the panic area to be able to fix what has gone wrong also remember it's six hours you need to be there at the end but also if you're in for the michelin endurance cut points you need to be there in the middle as well very much there in the middle because there's entering points to be awarded at the three-hour mark so watch out as we [Music] maybe when we add another hour on here and watch out for one or two teams maybe heading to the pits off uh off kilter off strategy to try and get themselves the position for the better points in michelin endurance challenge and the tires that was the other porsche key to the race fairly generous michigan tire allowance which started from first free practice we have not this cheer haven't we a few teams putting on frankie sticker shiny sets of of michelin's so clearly there have been as you would expect saving them for the wrist what we don't know is how many sets they've got left between now and the final pit stop correct and we don't know how many pit stops are coming up between now and the final pit stop because all it takes is a caution and then you know that giant fluffy pink cat that we were talking about in the morning warm up making an appearance and then all of a sudden there are more pit stops than you perhaps planned and then you don't have enough tires to make at the end of the race that's why the big brains on fit boxes are paid the big bucks uh i've been sitting here trying to figure out who is done with the minimum drive time it's an hour and a half for the lmp2 lmp3 and gtd categories which means that anybody who comes in from gtd right now who started the race would be good to get out of the farm and not have to drive again but the drivers in in lmp2 who have met the minimum drive time so far ben keating is good he's handed off to scott huffaker dwight merriman is good kyle tilley just took over the era motorsport car i think stephen thomas is good but i need to follow up on that once we've reached the two-hour elapsed mark of the race and then in lmp three uh gar robinson is good for the championships leading riley number 74 and uh the other driver that i've noticed um i can't remember now um get back to me in a minute on that one okay [Music] allegra motorsports number 28 emg on the front straight now heading down towards the first corner michael d casada has been in that car since the start since in third in gtd prototype traffic there she runs out over the yellow and red curves at the exit of turn one got uh [Music] there's more gaps than you she will jeremy to be honest is what i was going to say um aidan reed the uh the aussie is uh closing in uh on them about the second and a half behind so michael just having to keep hitting his marks and trying not to be slowed down and we've said this time and time again bears repeating though jeremy there's a skill to being passed as well as there is to to to doing the passing because what you don't want to do is to go too much offline ruin your tires or throw yourself into the barriers while you're trying to let a faster car through you're absolutely right and you know it's we're still not not even two hours into the six hour race and uh it's it is mentally physically demanding we've already talked about that and it's it's warm out there it's a real workout physically and mentally just another note about the leaders harry tinkle we've got to watch that master it's right on the tail now of kmag at the battle for third and fourth we've got the top four cars covered by four seconds of three seconds as they complete 60 laps here at uh wgi in the salem six hours of the glen it's jeremy shaw adam john hind off good to have you company this uh sunday afternoon beautiful weather conditions getting up to almost 30 degrees celsius in the air that's uh 84 fahrenheit 95 fahrenheit on the track well 35 celsius so starting to warm up a little bit the humidity which was mid 70s in the percentages this morning as the sun's come up and warmed things up just dropped down to only 55 cloud cover minimal it's the cotton wool sort of clouds the simpson type of clouds above watkins glen at the moment in beautiful region of upstate new york called the finger lakes fantastic place to come once you can start to travel again heartily recommended great motorsport heritage here as well and heritage of glass making as well with the town of corning just down the road some great places to stay add some fantastic hospitality around these areas pretty good fishing as well if you have the tide ice cream shaker and great ice cream i might have known you would know that [Music] oh it's very serious i was i was very successful fishing here a few years ago in what was my first time fishing from aboard and there is i can tell you now there is nothing better than sitting down of an evening uh in front of a a log fire eating fish that you caught yourself at 4 or 5 o'clock the same morning [Music] very satisfying indeed great way to prepare for this race a few years ago lake life there's something strange going on with the era motorsports lmp 2 machine i've just checked in with their team pr nothing being said over the radio about kyle kelly but he had a lap uh two laps ago that lasted four minutes he's just come out of the pit lane showing his having dropped three laps but you think if there was something wrong the driver would be screaming about it on the radio i'm wondering if perhaps it's just a timing glitch i'm hoping it's just a tabby glitch well with the master in race update coming the top four are separated by only four seconds so before that starts to get a bit tasty more tasty than my fish that i caught here a few years ago it's too late to fight the leads leaders are back together again nose to tail as they go through traffic ricky taylor just about holding on and another hip and shoulder from ollie platt this time on the grass of racing lamborghini that's two that we've seen now uh and even under the totting up procedure he's gonna be close to a yellow card there isn't he in soccer terms he's gonna keep getting away with that let's quickly take a mazda in race update we'll start in lmp uh in gtd excuse me where trent hitman for right third place yeah stay with that for a moment through the first turn and up through the second corner up the hill tingle now right ahead so he's managed to get through there jeremy in the time it took me to look away and look back because as they crossed the line madison is still in the lead and magnussen coming back down the inside outside rather into the inner loop doesn't quite have the momentum to go through turn the bmw and allegra amg ahead ahead of them through the outer loop but the downforce driven prototypes go around the outside on the high side then cut back to the lower side for turn six but tingles through and it's disappearing and the gap to the lead is now just four and a half seconds change for third place then let's start that master in race update then with that category where the changes just happened ricky taylor back in the lead from olly clark and by 1.1 seconds as they're going through traffic new third place harry tignell has got past kevin magnussen so it's the 55 mazda from the zero one will get to the car stranded in the inner loop in a second lmp2 win autosport by 34.5 seconds from pr1 matheson 11 from 52 and united in third in the 22 card another half minute back nick tandy giving his daughter eva the perfect seventh birthday present at the moment he's got four and a half seconds of a lead from jordan taylor in the second of the corvettes four from three spengler from crawn 25 from 24 in the two bmws four seconds further back those bmws are absolutely together george kurtz leads for core ordnal sport in lmp3 in the number 54 car by 13 seconds from dylan murray for riley's number 91 and in third it's austin mccoster austin mccusker for united gt hitman for right motorsport in the 16 blue porsche kirkwood for vassal sullivan's bright yellow rcf lexus the number 14. and d casada and reed battling for that fourth place allegra and turner in the emg and the bmw that's your mazda in race update as we have four hours and eight minutes remaining at the glen so adam let's uh we've got plenty of staying for the zero one cadillac for uh chip ganassi racing i believe fuel and tires there yep those are the used tires coming off first off the pit lane was olivier boss second off the pit lane jonathan von morito back of the net third was kevin madison fourth alexander rossi fifth felipe nazar so we did see quite a few driver changes in the prototype class in the lmp2 we've got scott huffaker in from the lead of that class in the number 52 no driver change should be happening there and tristan nunez is in for the 11 i would expect him to stay aboard as well so behind our second safety car of the event we had a nice hour and a half in full grain flag racing so we've just had a whole heap of pit stops in the full yellow flag period with the prototypes being allowed into the pit lane we'll get the gts allowed in a moment and we'll let tell you exactly what happened there or what is going to happen there they haven't come back round yet currently the field being led hard to say because the tracker hasn't quite kept up with what's going on so as i say a second full course caution getting on for half an hour behind the safety car already the latest caution caused by the united auto sport number two prototype in lmp uh coming in to the pits after collecting the wall i'm sure oscar because just told them they're all jumped out to meet him just pinched off the exit of turn seven as uh he was being passed by olly platt oh he's had a couple of little shoulder barges on other cars as he's been fighting his way through it's been a cracking side by side battle at the front of the field with the acura and the two acuras however it's jonathan pomerito now in second place we'll reset the standings for you in a moment after these gt pit stops for sure adam at this vp racing typical racing swapping back to tommy milner so nick tandy uh driving for an hour and then getting out and tommy milner going for his second hour in the car we had uh gtd pit stops the number 16 right motorsport trent himman doing his minimum time getting out of the car handing over to yon hayla not too shabby paul miller racing i saw madison snow's helmet taking over for cory lewis corey has also completed the minimum drive time we've got uh kyle kirkwood out of the 14 lexus that is now aaron taylor kyle doing his minimum drive time it is still in the number 12 robert mcginnis for that car frankie montecalvo started and then handed over to robert and now robert is staying aboard as is jordan taylor in terms of staying aboard so they are mixing it up down in corvette world not changing the drivers for both of the cars just for the number four in bmw realm it is jesse crone yet again behind the wheel of the black bmw and bruno spangler again for the 25 bmw and oh look at that in a second that would be bill auberlin in the turner motorsport bmw now once again lars kern the fastest man around the nurburgring seemingly every day has remained behind the wheel of the faf motorsport porsche ross gunn has taken over for ian james in the heart of racing aston martin hello sarah rigby it is still michael de quesada in the allegra mercedes and misha goickberg is back into the grt lamborghini a little bit further down the field and i'm quite surprised to see tyler mcquarrie's name still on timing and scoring for that carb on audi because tyler if that's the case is refusing to get out of the car he's driven since the start so jeremy was there any winners and losers there in that pit stop cycle at the front of the field at least it looks like mazda and multimatic turned their car around pretty quickly and what happened uh what happened to the second of the accuracy indeed so what happened to the second of the accuracy number 10 car cause it came in came into the pits in the lead and left with that driving change for alexander rossi in fourth position so uh that uh is is not what that team was looking for so from first to fourth all the other three cars behind him just moved up then the number 60 number 55 and zero one they all maintained position with each other added as did the three cars behind that 31 48 and five so what this full course caution has done of course is benefit hugely the number 31 card has to fall in about 20 seconds behind off the pace in the dpi ranks plus the 48 and the five which are a good bit further back than that as well in uh lmp2 uh this is enabled number 22 car to get back into contention because that had been uh trapped almost a lead a lap down and this caution product has not come into the pit just now whereas the two cars ahead of it number 52 and number 11 did come into the pits the 52 of scott huffaker has rejoined ahead of thomas merrill so it's now 22 52 11 in lmp2 in the gtlm with those pit stops uh completed we have to wait till they come around now to see if there's been any order indeed that has number four car has fallen from first to third it's now number three car that leads to corvette at number 24 bmw then the number four uh corvette and then number 25 bmw that had been in third place it's now down to four so big shuffle there around in gt lm in lp three john the number 36 car had pitted just a few laps ago so it did not require service now that moves back into the lead of lmp3 the cars behind them number 54 74 and 91 have all been in the pits and dominic cicero in the number 84 car that car also stopped a little while ago and fallen off the lead lap and i think with i'm not sure whether with the number 36 car not pitting i believe the number 84 car remains a lap down that's a dawson racing entry but a quick note about about that two of the pareto auto sport ladies threshold dd 500 are doing front tire changes for that number 84 teams that's kind of cool little note there from barbara burns thank you barbara and that car we'll have to wait and see whether he gets uh whether it was ahead of the number 36 car during that caution period whether or not he'll get the the pass around before we go back to green just trying to see where it is uh there i i don't think so this is the the final whereby has happened jeremy and i can't see anything hustling second uh the car that caused the yellow flag was the number two for united auto sport working on the car in closed pit they did more work to the car than was legally permitted so stop plus 60 and the pick box is gonna be busy down there the penalty box for richard because the era motorsport car will also be coming back down the pit lane they ran the pick closed light and that also is a stop on 60. the sports cars are pits yeah well the two car has to come in for its drive-through for the uh too much working in a closed pit so that's why that is there three different uh cars two different classes coming out of the outer loop at the moment the queen's prototype just breathes out of it in down the bottom of the shoot into turn six to let the battling corvette and bmw go through and that is first and second in the that is third and fourth sorry in the gt le bond category the great one is number four [Music] text message fueling issue they didn't get all the fuel in on their first stop so they came back down to top them off and make sure that they got all the fuel in but they're a little concerned that this could become a reoccurring issue so right now they're looking for bananas to throw an attractive dragon yellow so was that was that a problem with the rig or problem with the fuel tank or the fill itself do we know i do not know the answer to that yet i don't think they know the answer to that yet either but remember this team uh with fueling rig issues yesterday pilot challenge so you said yesterday funny enough i wonder if they have to use that rig tomorrow or they didn't have i think they did have two rings because they had two cars in the pilot challenge race yesterday but they absolutely destroyed one of them now they're meant to break apart in the way that they did and i presume they've got spares but you've got to ask yourself the question if that's the rig that they were using today if there's been some issue there with it being repaired overnight um maybe that's something that the guys in turn will let us know about you well it's actually a different rig because it's different setup the rig for pilot challenge is freestanding whereas the rig for the weathertech series is sort of built in and integrated to a pit box itself so they are different different ones well there is the answer it wasn't one the gun damage yesterday perfect thank you very much shannon for that vp appropriate love of vp racing fuel pit update on a fuel rig coming up to one o'clock in the afternoon sun's still high temperatures still going up track temperature still uh very nice for the michelins right in the middle of the operating temperature uh sitting on track at 97 fahrenheit it's a 36 celsius 84 in the air which is 29 celsius to korea as a weather forecaster for me somewhere i could i could point to the blue screen definitely a green screen or a green screen yes yeah yes it did push a little button change the slide uh ollie plath then leading by now two and a half seconds from bobberino magnuson in third another 1.6 seconds further back great battle now that's that full course caution has done is really closed up the gtd battle we were slightly worried earlier on that there were cars in isolation or maybe just a couple of cars having their own little private battle well now we've got a line of cars in behind madison snow who's in third ahead of him aaron taylor's four seconds up the road in the second place lexus and it's still right motorsport jan helen who's jumped out into the league after the restart by about the second and a half not much more than that but that battle for third is paul miller's lamborghini the red white and black number one right in the behind that is michael t casada in the very impressive run for allegra motorsports and dick casada if it is still him in the car has been in that car since the start the number 28. he's got six tenths of a second on last kern for faf motorsport that's the plaid porsche number nine who's got three tenths of a second to the lexus of vassar sullivan the 12 robert mcgenis in sixth position in class then roscoe's been installed behind the heart of racing team aston martin with his last time out he's got three tents on misha goingberg for grt grasser the 193 lamborghini he's got eight tents on richie high stand in the 39 carpod with peregrine racing audi that's the battle from third down to ninth and they separated by what three and a half four seconds not quite close enough to be side by side but any slip there jeremy you're gonna lose uh quite a lot of real estate and it's uh madison snow in third position at the moment he's trying to break the aerial drag down the front street between himself and the allegra of all sports mercedes emg gt3 in fourth position yeah that's right i think uh in that number one car madison snow would just held up a little bit when uh robbie number 96 i was bill auburn i think driving that car now isn't it he was ahead of number one car at the restart so i think he just lost a little bit of time as the number nine coming into the pit lane which might explain that little uh gap between the uh second and third place cars and gtd but you're right the rest of the field pretty much in tail formation behind them uh that's going to be a lot of fun all the way through this race uh a note in the lmp2 uh we've had three different leaders in three different laps 22 can't let them restart the four coming into the bits and then number 52 of scott huffaker uh led a lap then he was overtaken by the number 11 the winner which is thomas merrill now at the wheel of that car and since being overtaken scott huffaker has just set the fast slap of the race at lmp2 with that second place car that's number 52 from pr1 masterson motorsport so it's number 11 and 52 and uh with that pit stop for number 22 carl wayne boyd is uh i think uh just almost a lap down so struggling to try and uh get stay on the lead lap in number 22 united auto sports entry have been taken over from jim mcguire at that uh unscheduled pit stop or or the pit stop right after the uh restart anyhow jeremy shaw john hindorf share adam [Music] tyre center.com supporting again the 39th it's the car bomb with peregrine audi in ninth position at the moment but could quite easily be in fourth if anything happens ahead of head because those cars are very close and it's all a bit squeaky when the prototypes start coming through as they are now the allied cadillac keeps simon paschall just having picked his way through that and uh next through for the united cars that's the 22 so that's the lmp2 car coming through side by side with the classic car going down to six the lamborghini steers on its racing line perfectly entitled and correct to do that and behind there the uh number 11 is the blue prototype and that is the win or the sport car but they've just been kicked up as those cars go three wide and the number 11 trying to be an advantage of that traffic also we've got the winds car in there as well another prototype so again three wide in the braking area going into turn number eight extraordinary stuff uh and that was that's the lead of the winner sport car of course uh in lmp2 and scott huffer i think it was right in behind him in the pr1 madison car it was jordan absolutely right have you just set the fastest nap in the race in lmp2 for scott huffaka trying to make a move that said it wasn't able to pull it off but those two leaders two californians uh thomas barrel and still haven't getting it not very far apart actually those two thomas merrill's from uh salinas and the scottish from menlo park in the in the bay area so they're having a great little tussle there for the lead in lmp2 [Music] yeah and that is always the danger area when you're the leader you come across across the traffic first they're all having their own battles there so we were describing third down to ninth as the heart eraser aston martin now pulls to the right hand side on the back straight trying to make up the position on the faf porsche ross gun last curd ross good fires through and takes the position fifth position then so an upgrade for heart of racing team to fifth last curt pushed back to sixth position by the casada what a couple of seconds has break and i've broken away from that and he's got a couple of seconds between himself and third place madison snow so what can ross good now do in that blue heart of racing aston martin phenomenal story they go racing they raise money for the cardiac specialty at the children's hospital and they have raised millions of dollars with their work around the world creating their book here in the states and of course in the antiquities now part of the team got stuck out there at the start of lockdown are they still out there i know they were doing some competition out there and there was some other bits and pieces have they managed to get back out of oh hang on i'll get back to that in a moment because the 91 car which uh was battling for position has gone around that's that's turn one and uh the sorry i said 91 card i didn't mean that at all did i let's go get the i was all right the first time that's the 91 yeah correct thank you on those cars they look pretty similar as well even the shapes of the aurica p2 car and then initiate p3 from a distance is it's not easy to tell them apart sorry my my fault was jim cox then in that riley easy mistake john you get a you get a feeling don't you and you know i i said the number i thought it was and i stupidly second guess myself that's always the mistake so similar exactly from a distance really it's tough to tell them apart yeah and uh they're very quick machines the pair of them of course uh sorry chick i'm about to harner racing team are the principals still down under as of five hours ago alex rivera's posted on instagram north island champions they want another championship down in new zealand wow thank you very much so they are still down there oh shame uh [Music] never been in new zealand uh it's a it's one that needs to be ticked off in terms of the surroundings another green and pleasant land so not unlike what we're seeing here this weekend here in upstate upstate new york uh i don't think they'll look they won't let you in unfortunately at the moment john but don't they take that personally they're not letting anybody in the country at third moment with the strict lockdown that they have i've started the tunnel it may be a while i have three of them down there and they've been raising more money as well while they've been doing that that's the part of racing where couldn't have been um more happy i think there was a a lot of people in the paddock martin of course back here this weekend let's pick up a couple of other battles at the front of the field ollie player now by three seconds there's cheer bob kicks his traffic now has clear air between himself on the back straight coming quickly though hello kevin kevin magnussen half a second back from jonathan pomerito and you can almost feel the head-up display with target acquired on inside the chip cannassi racing zero one another team coming away from bell isle with a victory fabulous qualifying and pool position by kevin kevin magnussen jeremy had a wonderful first stint for him eeveely backed up as we would expect now from frank van der zander these two have formed themselves into a partnership and that's so important but they've formed themselves in a formidable partnership very very quickly this season yeah they have done a fantastic job having both of those two they get along well two really good characters but they are heck of a drivers as well as you say that jaybong had a little bit of traffic on that previous lap just dropping back a little bit from the overall race leader olivier clark and now he has not only came back but alexander rossi is right with those two as well so we've got a kind of three-car train separately maybe eight ten car lengths for second third and fourth philippa national another couple of seconds behind that eleven peak two battle by the way scott hoficker was able to redress the balance in another 52 car from pro matters and motorsports so he's overtaken thomas merrill in the win over sport number 11 for the lead in lnp uh two [Music] yeah uh three different categories of uh machinery dpi are at the front of the field they're for the most part the manufacturer machines either supported by or developed by manufacturers which is why you see acura master cadillac [Music] in on the timing and scoring and if you're not following along with timing and scoring alton i'll do a cracking job insert.com and you can be watching the information wherever you are in the world at the track side or further afield then we've got lmp2 close relatives to dpis all of the dpis have lmp2 chassis but whereas the lmp2 is a spec class with a spec engine spec suspension and spec body work between the four chassis manufacturers uh you're allowed a bit more to play with a bit more freedom to play with in dpi and then lnp three see you above comments again several chassis manufacturers well i think before yeah we haven't got these years here haven't we and again standard powertrain another fire to the left right grasser racing lamborghini in the pit lane entrance the number 19 car and right in exactly the same place which is right behind the driver's door exactly as it was for the weathertech car driver's door is open we've got a full course yellow of course as soon as the flames came out pit lane marshalls and again team members already there magnificent stuff and the flames are being attended to driver is out of the car amisha goytberg who's had a few good battles today got that car was airborne over the front end and it's an it's more damage on the left rear so there was left rear suspension damage and it's well it's the same part of the track but this time he spun it into the pit lane so hit the cur hit the wall exit of turn 11 which broke the rear suspension oh i take that back misha i'm sorry that suspension was broke broken excuse me uh as he was spinning he didn't just hit the wall that car let go long before and spun him in just missed the end of the pit wall jeremy which does has have some um water butts on the end of it but the left rear suspension is tucked under and that's clearly done an oil line there hot engine and fluids and very similar in the the first instance when i saw it i thought he'd driven it back there but very similar to what we saw from the weathertech porsche earlier yeah it really was wasn't it frighteningly so that was a very scary moment there as you say just just missing the end of the pit wall that that would have been even even worse for poor misha what a shame for him but that team has had no luck this year at all uh misha he's one of these seven drivers who to have won this race overall before the sale in six hours of the glen did that a few years ago driving for the jdc miller motorsports team um uh in the dp uh in the lp2 car as it was then [Music] yeah the damage he's been checked over by the pit lane medics straight away just as a poor script by the way i'm reminded by andrew quixly thank you andrew for tweeting out himself radio heart of racing are also the da d1 nz and it is nz down there d1 nc i suppose you would see it here new zealand drifting champions darren kelly has been uh running a nissan gtr down there there and jiren's core driver saw heart er racing team doing great work down under now i expect with the pit lane blocked of course we can't open the pit lane at the moment i think we should get a full yellow i think we've just gone over it's at the discretion of race control of course they will not want to move that lamborghini until they're sure that it's not going to reignite they've taken the engine cover off and had a look at it they got to it very very quickly again kudos to the earmar and the track safety workers and also to the teams who were round at the end who immediately they saw that grab fire extinguishers damage to the barriers we saw that on the outside of the outer loop yesterday however we could see it categorically that there is gas gear on hand if there needs to be any cutting heat applied or welding because we saw it in use yesterday so this now our third intervention from the c8 safety car after just 20 minutes of green flag adam uh has a different theory for the crash it might have been a suspension breakage but could it also have been an oil line going off and dumping oil onto that the back tire yeah that would explain why it went up in flames so quickly yeah i i think that's a good call uh it was just the way it broke away i didn't think it had hit the wall with the left three or hard enough but it did clout the curb at an odd angle uh and then of course speed across the the track uh springing all night on your back tires never a good thing had that happen with an rs 3100 capri once and i was racing at brad's hatch on the short circuit fat right raised on board so it was on the short circuited side jeff bloxa uh famous photographer got a lovely photographer thing on their block stops the opposite lock coming through there with the rear wheels spinning up uh coming through to the final corner of bran's hatch on the uh indie circuit was entertaining uh three and a half hours still to go sorry did anyone get the audio of you going ah in the meantime i was very quiet because i was concentrating i don't have well when i'm driving try i i can i can do road tests of rose car or race cars i could do road tests of road cars and talk with uh you know a microphone hung up in the car talk about what i'm doing and drive in a race car i'm using so much of my poor little brain just to point it in the right direction and remain remember where the brick turning change down etcetera but trying to talk becomes very difficult indeed i've done it a couple of times and one other thing happens and they're both bad either my talking suffers commentating for the tv at the same time and i thought that's impressive it's very impressive last night in the srx race uh hinch was dialing up a variety of drivers under caution and he dialed up tony stewart under a green flag and tony commentated as he passed uh let me make sure he's in the car yeah mark was in the car um he basically commentated as he was going to pass marco and then as he did pass marco and then explained how he did it it was brilliant i worked with a couple of rally drivers who uh when i was at rml um who have both gone on to be quite big lights in doing film uh driving and setting up various things particularly for the the bond movies uh the higgins boys and they could both do that whilst they were doing it and there was one brilliant stage on the isle of man which is where they're from very fast tarmac stage through one of the towns there where instead of the co-driver reading the notes uh the driver just commentated live for television because he knew the place so well that was that was probably probably impressive so fourth of our cautions this afternoon then and we're waiting for the pits to be opened while this has been going on i've got a couple of uh news stories uh one good one bad the era motorsport number 18 car is back from behind the wall that's the good side of the story the bad side of the story is that the number 19 grasa racing team unsurprisingly has been retired that lamborghini that's official already they've had a quick look at it it's not coming back they'll work on that remember our porsche keys to the race our turnaround for the car so we're doing full season is four days we're on track on thursday here at the watkins glen international i think we'll be coming into the pits this time around so let's quickly 48 and like default for mustang sampling is in seventh position in the dark career and uh gold in p2 the top three are pr1 matheson the number 52 card then the 11 win auto sport that's the blue car uh with the yellow stripes on and the black rear cowling win boyd for united daughter sport dark navy blue with red and white stripes on it gt lemon jordan taylor for the three corvette uh that is the yellow car the 24 is the white bmw the four is the greer corvette and uh that is sitting behind the 24 black jesse grove bmw saw corvette bmw corvette bmw 324 425 lmp3 riley mortar sports with the lead there with the 74 the ranch 74 car 36 andretti ortersport in second court order sports number 54 with the tangerine on it in third reilly motorsports 91 the winter car in fourth position and dominic cicero for dawson racing the 84 and the united lot of sports usa the number two car navy blue again next up turning gtt blue porsche number 16 for right motorsports leads from yellow lexus number 14 vassa sullivan in second red white and black lamborghini number one paul miller racing 28 allegra motorsport is the silver but with the stars and stripes locals on there that's the 28 car that's your top four with ross good in the heart of racing aston in fifth and sixth being the plaid path car so that's how it stands let's see if we get the uh pits opening this time in in the meanwhile here's jeremy to talk about gt tina turner yeah just uh the caution period good timing for number 44 96 and 42 they were uh they were still they were on the lead lap but uh as a result of the 44 and 42 getting the wave around last time around they hadn't caught up with the back of the pack when they went back to green so quite a long way back plus a 1996 car having to come in to top off the fuel after the refueling problem with its stock those those are now back on the back of the train in gtd so we've got all 12 cars that haven't had a problem in gtd nose to tail and the pits did open which means we can have a vp racing fuel pit and panic report from adam massive accordion effect coming into the pit lane and i actually uh exclaimed out loud because it looked like the concrete cadillac was gonna run into the iconic minolta acura was gonna run into the back of the ganassi racing cadillac uh that was a bit sketchy for a moment but fuel and tires going on for the acura the blue and black machine yeah holding on to the tail of that car because it is a very downward slope toward the pit exit and it gets out ahead of the other acura so the meyer shank racing acura losing a couple of positions on that stop olivier plus still shown as behind the wheel jonathan balmarito still in the mazda i believe they got out fourth or fifth on the road even felipe nasser still in the whalen engineering catalog mike conway yet to have a go in that car and uh loy duval once again listed behind the wheel of the mustang sampling cadillac but that got a little messy in there for everybody everybody has to keep their wits about them even in the situation of coming in and out of the pits at him to radio if you want to get in touch with us we're live around the world be gin o'clock i think uh chelsea i think that would be fine uh sun over over the yard arm nice to hear you tuned in again chelsea and had a thoroughly enjoyable uh afternoon with uh ollie chelsea and with uh sam and kelly hignit as well a couple of fridays ago in the pouring rain in a field that was pretending to be france for the mazda 30th anniversary of le mans win celebrations if you haven't heard ollie's interview from that yet uh it will be playing over the weekends here across the rsl network and played just before michigan countdown to green and we will post that for you on monday once we've got all of the race archive set up open for gt cars now and the field is coming in gt le man and gtd share there will be a slight and i mean very slight pressure adjustment on the set of tires that go on to the silver corvette the number four for tommy milner reporting that the tires were just a tiny bit too high and he was seeing that pressure adjustment reflected on the entire performance of the car so that will be happening the three should be a normal stop but no driver change i wouldn't expect jordan taylor to stay aboard there and thomas palmer staying in the ford corvette it is fuel and tires for the 14 lexus as aaron kalitz is not getting out of that car yet but his sister car robert mcginnis has gotten out of the call and i think the plan was to put frankie montalbo back then to try and finish that drive time it was a driver change for both of the bmws i saw jessie crone jumping back onto the wall and that was the helmet of bruno spangler going back on the wall for the black bmw the 25 there's congestion leaving the pit lane and the 16 right motorsport porsche is still the first car off the pit lane in gt but second is madison snow and the paul miller racing lamborghini with the set of scrubbed tires and some more fuel so that was a good stop by paul miller racing third was the lexus the number 14. so aaron thielitz is now going to have a different view ahead of him in that stop and let me just follow up with the bmw's it was a gusto farfas taking over the 24 bmw and philip bang in for the 25. super bit of work from wind taylor racing they had the accurate connection accurate at just the right angle so they didn't have to be very much steering lock put on as it left the pit lane it was arrows straight to the rfid raiders on the exit so in the overall leaders they came in in the order 60 55 0 1 10 31 48 and 5 all of them have changed positions afterwards it's now 31 which jumped from fifth to first 10 60 55 48 5 and a zero one which for some reason has gone from third to seventh i'm not sure what happened during that round of pixels then for kmag and the cadillac chip ganassi racing team but clearly something a ride there well i'll tell you what let's uh let's do our mazda in race update and update all of the positions we'll take the opportunity before we go back to green for this mazda in-race update so we'll start at the other end of the field as jeremy did the uh the front of the field there's one or two stragglers still coming in for their pit service uh as we'll wait for the gt d cars to cycle back around let's uh start at the front anywhere where jeremy has just given us the the numbers here's the teams as well it is the 31-wheeler engineering cadillac that leads behind the safety car philippe sampling and the big loser there as jeremy said the ally cadillac 48 dropping down to sixth position cabbie kobayabi kamui kobayashi have been behind the wheel we've uh we've still got renga vandazanda in the pit lane actually and he's just leaving now in that zero one we'll find out why that's happening because that's dropped a long way down and that's an additional pit stop for that uh kevin magnussen got out of that car [Music] uh i reckon that's an extra stop for that so they must have come back in again i'll get to update us on that in lmp2 the uh 52 p.r matheson motorsport cars just left the pit lane but i think they'll stay in the lead uh there from win auto sport in second the number 11 blue car and united auto sport in third in gt le man it's corvette corvette bmw bmw now four from three from 24 from 25. so the bmws have swapped around again and the number four corvettes jumped up to the lane from third if i remember rightly uh lmp three riley motorsport number 74 league year leads from court auto sport number 54. john bennett back in that car now martial andretti has been installed i think that was the last time around actually this is uh he's been in and through the pits in that 36 guy in third and that's your top three there gt tournament right mortar sports porsche holds the lead they came in in the lead they've gone out in the lead from the pits madison snook from portmello racing's lamborghini team they are in second aaron thielitz for vassa sullivan now in third for the first of the lexus then two audis nte sport the number 42 that's the white car with the red and blue on it they've had a good pitch top cycle as of cardboard in the number 39 which is high stand in the fifth position there in that dark green and green car that's your mazda in race update we'll be going back to green shortly with three hours and nine minutes to go of the six hours of the glen [Music] now share the other thing that we have to talk about here and this was another one of our porsche keys to the race uh we were going to be looking for any sneaky bits of strategy for michelin endurance cup points but of course with the full course caution i'm not sure anybody can afford to give up that opportunity to uh just to get a couple of points in the mec no exactly and i'm not seeing anybody who did anything tricky as far as the points are concerned uh sitting in good positions right now with eight minutes and 20 seconds until we reach that point so keep in mind everything can change when we go back to green if we go back to green let's slap around uh alexander rossi sitting in second overall they would maintain the lead over the mazda because mazda would score minimum points and the 10 would score a second to most points the uh 52 in lmp2 they are sitting in a good position to again get maximum points but the people they're fighting in the championship right now get nothing as far as bonus points they get the minimum two points apiece so the number 52 just needs to basically keep going round and round and keep it all black stuff in lmp3 the leader of class is the leader in points so that works out nicely uh same for gtlm but both of the corvettes coming in on a tie with the four corvette leading at the three-hour till mark that would mean that they would take the championship lead but then if the three wins race it switches back over again and then in gtd well the faf motorsport porsche lead right now there are nine that gives him two points morrow angle way down the field after the issues for the 75 earlier on that would give him two points it would be a very good haul for the 16 right motorsport porsche with max points and then of course right behind them would be paul miller racing and right behind them in the mec as well falmouth racing so it looks like uh it could be an interesting couple of minutes here coming up and it's not exactly frozen at that time it's the lap completed after that time has elapsed positions that's important which is about it's going to be with the safety car lights off now so we'll go back to green at about five minutes maybe five and a half minutes to go up for the leaders that is likely to be probably four laps yeah four laps uh and yeah so let's let's say it's going to be four laps time so we'll keep an eye on that but if everything stays as it is ho ho ho then uh what shear just said uh keep an eye on that back degree to accurate battling again same manufacturer of different teams and early clap around the outside at turn one great maneuver goes up into second place alexander rossi can't believe i'm going to say that this slightly caught nothing actually that's not true he did everything he could to try and keep olly pla back platt was just slightly more determined i can't believe i'm seeing that either slightly more determined than alexander rossi the clark got a great start drove round the outside of the cunningham and ultra car and up in the second position awesome stuff on the restart and a great view uh from uh the jonathan marino mazda uh so he was watching that where is the where has the master dropped away to because the regular van der zande car is right in the mix there something a bit odd because i'm not what i'm seeing on the screen is not what i've seen uh out on the track to let my eyes do the work so it's weird and calm black lady from platinum second for me racing now the pick of black car the blue and black car down to third is rossi that bit we've got right then it is a bolorito then sebastian bordeaux for mustang sammy then kobayashi in the allied cadillac regular van zander scored in seventh position at the end of that queue of cars down to turn one and that is my eyes are not deceiving me what a move jeremy what a move by ollie platt not intimidating at all by the reputation rossi not one of the uh shy and retiring drivers uh in this field as we've got another pass for position and that's lexus of lamborghini and that is aaron taylor going into second place in gtd so the drivers getting the hurry up here as we come towards halfway yeah that was a good good he struggled the last couple of uh race weekends but he's clearly back now that was a great we saw a great parks on rossi uh he'll be through over that now he's gonna set his sights on nasa who that number 31 team made an astonishingly fast pit stop during that sequence and everything was on you know pretty similar strategies they'd all come into the pits uh during their previous stops at the same time under caution just 20 laps on that stint as we see k-mag rounding up kobayashi there on the uh on the outside line so uh uh gregor vanzetti excuse me moving past probably i think for position and both of them got past the bastion for the day it looks like so a big shuffling position before uh the caution before the green flag and afterwards as well as we have a little moment with by procedures always the opportunity to get something wrong and someone has got it wrong adam era motorsports day goes bad to worse in proper final wave by procedure stop in the penalty box and you're gonna be there a long time three minutes and 18 seconds or basically the equivalent of the laugh that you stole and then another lap independence yeah that's a multiplied that penalty there are many many laps back so it's not really going to affect their position yes when it rains it pours we said this yesterday in the pilot race the cars that had a problem tend to have another problem and then another problem and another world he's had problem his problems for the season pretty much in one go in this race coming down to just under two minutes to half distance [Music] they came in with the other lmp3 leaders so the brady four car remains in fifth position at one lap down and it's a number 74 cover it's got andrew's wheel of that car now here sir already set the fast slap a race fella p3 he leads through his right emotional teammate dylan murray kind of a 91 then john bennett in the number 54 uh then marco andretti uh who's at the wheel now number 76 guy in the fourth position tail end effectively those on the lead lap in lmp3 [Music] between imsa and the elms races this race at the glen has a very different look and feel to what we see in the elms across europe is it rules tracks drivers presentation what well a lot of the drivers are the same um different slightly different regulations different categories of cars as well but i'd be interested to hear what the collective mind thinks about that here on instagram into tv at himself to answer michael's the question i know many of you will follow our coverage of the e lms next round at monza by the way with uh johnny palmer and graham goodwin our team on that over on rachel lemond.com our sister site that contributes to the difference at imsa radio jeremy what do you reckon well i'll tell you what there aren't many tracks these days uh like watkins glen international over in europe that's one big difference because this is a lime rock school race track or lime rock or uh mid ohio or road america exactly yeah yeah exactly yeah we're talking about watkins learning this one in particular this is a this is a great old school racetrack do you think that promotes diff a different type of racing jeremy we've got not nothing much changing at the moment as everybody's getting about the space do you think that promotes a different type of racing a different attitude to racing and as michael describes it a difference of atmosphere and bear in mind he's watching it from from afar but that's that's his perception that there's a different atmosphere i i i mean i think there is a different vibe it's more open here i think than in in the most european series racing in general the other paddocks in general are more uh more event your drivers are more available teams get along more closely you know europe was sort of a you know daggers drawn it seems between each each of the teams or certainly wars haven't been over there for a few years to see racing at this level i must admit but that's the way it used to be no question about it whereas here you know everybody gets along they all they all share times away from the uh the racetracks if they can get away from the racetrack so jordan await race weekends you know with the other teams which is uh that that vibe is definitely different to europe john i think i don't disagree one of the things uh michael i would say that makes it a bit of difference and again i'll ask the collective minds to to come in on this at interracial um that the teams mingle a lot more over here sports car paddocks i would say are distinctively different all the way around the world and because there's so many people who travel backwards and forth there is a bit more mingling going on but generally speaking there's uh there's a lot more awkwardness here because a lot of the teams eat in the same place the centralized catering here in the imsa championship and you know places like marion so that uh i know that marion is helping out a new organization in the imsa paddock even as we we speak hello marion uh sandra will be listening in as well marrying the son of champagne uh the um i think that makes a huge difference because people you see each other you're not confined to barracks and your mortar homes and you know certainly when you uh look at the circuits i'll take exactly what jeremy said when you look at the circuits over here that you tend to be cheeked by joel in the paddocks as well very very good by the way watch we're talking about imsa here again on thursday and friday and then we're up to the northeast grand prix 16th and 17th it's an old gt extravaganza it will be uh the imsa michelin pilot challenge in the insert and the gt versions of the weathertech sports car championship as well cast your mind back to the uh race last time himself were there half porsche won by less than half a car length closest finish in himself history beautiful circuit again natural terrain road circuit one and a half miles proper little bull ring as the locals call it that's lime can see it was elams wec is different again because the world championship that is in some ways even more exclusive uh let's uh pick up what a few stories jeremy we uh saw renga vanderzander coming back in uh or at least kevin magnussen coming back in and changing the render ring of van der zander for an extra stop what was going on there oh i have no idea i'm hoping we can find that out they definitely changed drivers because kevin brought it in and renga took it out that dropped them back although that said uh with the restart rank has been pretty rare and he's gone from seventh up to fourth position it's only four seconds uh off the lead there and he's doing a cracking job vassa sullivan faff nce all having a great battle in gt daytona right motorsports still leading out jan helen a tenth of a second ahead of the vassa sullivan lexus uh and that equates to about [Music] not even a cars length to be honest as they emerge from the inner loop and head through to turn five the outer loop then the short shoot over the top of the brow falling downhill to turn six get the car tucked in the different ways you can take that put that tightness on you a little bit that is the lead battle for gt dear tornado we're talking about 21st and 22nd overall jan halen aaron thielitz madison snow who was in second great overtake thought to demort him down to third 1.7 seconds further back he's got three and a half seconds on robbie foley for turner then the advantage of romantic angeles who is right up the tailpipe to the bmw m6 so two distinct battles with at the moment madison snow just sort of floating in between [Music] confirmation of the retirement by the way of the sun energy one that was 75 kenya bull michael grenier and mario engel car that was right rear suspension damage they thought they were going to get that car fixed and back in they've been working hard on it quite couldn't quite get it sorted they'll be working hard to get that car fixed for their next outing a couple of thoughts from the collective mind dave volcok says thanks for a great question he's got a way to think about it now elliot masson imsa designed as a spectator sport welcome fans encourage him to the paddock i think that happens much more than is in europe the lack of garages helps i've enjoyed every visit hope to be back soon that's a really good point elliot i hadn't thought of that people working out the easy ups and out the back of the trucks rather than being able to close garage doors that's a really good point with the bill grass versus car parks that's the difference with insert no does it not what does it mean the circuits are better it punishes the drivers and visually makes the races more exciting he's talking about the edges of the tracks somewhere like spot still a great track it's not that hard is it if at pu on you come in 30 miles an hour too quickly he can just run off and drive back on again and therefore it's not as daunting and not as skillful you can go beyond the limit work your way back to it awful lot of imps attracts that you can't good point wicket all good good stuff coming in at himself radio [Music] phenomenal question uh asked earlier on uh money hello money can i say from the fans perspective the different atmosphere about imsa races as well the 24 hours of daytona completely different five to sebring different to that goes alex brundle hello alex cookie monster listening in i think it's the circuits that's what makes american racing so mega challenging circuits alex for sure and i know you would uh love to be back over here racing wish you all the best for what you're doing in europe at the moment and uh hopefully take it as you he was posted or here a couple years ago yeah randall knows how to be fast you keep those tweets coming in at in the radio still in six hours of the glenn at the front of the field philippe nasa has pulled out nearly three seconds now in the whalen engineering number 31 at least that was the timing the last time they went across the line i think that's come down a wee bit see if i can spot them again as olly blah was trying to charge back through the traffic rossi right up the tailpipe still gt did tour the battle going down two turn one the first three of pulled away then jeremy we've got a four-car battle for fourth place in gt tier tournament yeah we have a big scrap going on there whole stream of cars uh just a little bit of breathing room finally for yann haylin over our unt that's in alexis and then yeah maybe what i mean snow is not far behind them and this big train of cars with the after martin has been moving up for pretty steadily through the streets trying to make a challenge there going on to robbie foley robin the anderson at the wheel of the aston martin trying to make that challenge for a fourth position right with them but also is jayden conrad who made a really good stout debut for that nte sport audi team they got themselves back on the lead lap uh during that previous caution period and jaden is charging along there in the sixth place in the class just ahead of zach rivershaw who is no slouch in gtd cars of course is he having one at sebring last time out in the englishman endurance cup [Music] though because jonathan gomerito he lost a couple of positions but four laps ago now and his uh you know he's now four and a half seconds behind that strap for second place yeah and seth porter has just put the mustang something jdc builder motorsports cars faster slap in a 32-5 it's a decent time there everybody else around about the same or maybe a little bit slower just before we we were talking about what would possibly happen for the missional endurance cut points we'll give you that update at the moment just the final one of these for the moment but keep them coming in and we'll talk them up in the michelin uh posterior tech as well what makes the difference in atmosphere between the imsa races and stores in europe this is from dear volca and i like this as well i would suggest uh he says as a fan who has not visited events either series i can only comment as a fan from afar but what i see is more camaraderie on social media between the teams more banter between european uh the european teams i think the tournament is set by the imser top management first scott atherton now john doonan uh torn set by the head yeah he said i'd also suggest great interaction between the drivers teams and fans is quite different although i think it's now improved in europe something that emes has always been great that all the way back to the lms days remember for the fans it wasn't just a marketing slogan it was a it was a mantra everything was judged by that does it fit for the fans good stuff [Music] some more of those later on cheers nelly good padded access grid walk all adds to the atmosphere undulating road courses tight straight circuits backs turns concrete air fields into has it all in north park due to the area that america covers of course america is big that point will be up for those what happened then at the lap after three hours about 15 minutes ago who actually got the points uh okay so no change as far as dpi is concerned the 10 is still leading but they now have a five point advantage over the 55 mazda in second so that is sizeable in lmp2 since the top two in points scored minimal points and the 52 got a good haul of them by finishing second it is now 28 points for the eight machine the tower motorsport 26 points for era and in between them is that 52 of pr1 matheson with 27 points so that one is blown wide open an lmp3 the 74 continues to lead the way with 36 points oliver askew is five points behind them gtlm the four corvette was leading the way so they currently lead the points one ahead of their teammate and sister car and then in gtd it was a porsche leading coming in it is still a porsche leading but it is a very very different porsche right motorsport 26 points fast 25 mara angle by himself on 24 and then the number one of paul miller racing on 23. so we still have four cars within a handful of points of one another they're just different cars than we'd have been expecting kamui kobayashi has just been friends with a steel barrier coming out of the tour of the boat that turned seven did a wee bit of damage to the left-hand side of the allied cadillac put a little scuffage on there not in him [Applause] had the perfect of hardcore barry is down for a while it's a story that would take too long to tell i know the corn from well heading up to the m25 i think it's still got it in actually it's part of the character of the car now [Applause] uh he lives to fight another deer but two michelins at least were on the grass kobayashi by the way not martin haven and he our colleague at uh eurosport uh for the sports car racing and uh world touring cars kobayashi though will have stopped a few hearts for a moment in the number 48 car pit jeremy you were amusing about the master and you found out some news about uh about that car in jaipur yeah bombardier got uh got some used uh in traffic that i was given but they're also struggling with rear grip at the moment they think the type that well they don't think they know because the telemetry the tire pressure is a bit too high the track temperature has come up and surprised at least since the start of the race and so they're struggling just a little bit at this stage structure kind of change chasing what they really need on that mazda but it was it was super fast before this latest pit stop and the tire change so hopefully they can get back to where they need to be on that 55 car and that incident for kobayashi that cost him about six seconds so he's got uh he's got a hopefully no damage to that car last night around was a 34 but that was his first up after recovering from that off [Music] yeah so we'll see whether he can yeah did this slap around 30 2-1 for uh kobayashi so that's not too bad that's just two tenths away from his fastest slap at the race so it would appear nothing a miss as a result they're off or kobayashi back up to speed he was fully lit going around the outside of a couple of jt le cars and just whether there was a touch or whether it just ran out the road hard to see from the uh the on board that i caught a first appearance here at the brazil and six hours of decline lmp3 riley one and two now 74 from 91. andrews from murray he's got anderson dylan murray then martial andretti half a minute further back and gt to torna right porsche number 16 from plaster sullivan lexus number 14. that's a bright yellow car paul miller racing a little bit further back those two are still only three quarters per second then nearly three seconds further back madison snow he's got about two seconds on the battle for fourth position which is turner motorsports yellow and blue bmw number nine six roman de angelus in the dark blue almost a flat blue aston martin from harter racing to 23. the jim comrade in the nte sport the number 42 car is just starting to get on terms with them in the nte sports car uh he's about a second and a half but just trying to get as i said back on terms with them to make that a three-way strap fourth fifth and sixth position that's how it stands at the moment just after two o'clock in the afternoon another round the outside patch by the 48 and you've got to see it that uh kami kobayashi is giving it his all in that ally cadillac racing car and he's not afraid to go to the high side turns six this time jeremy throwing up the dust there as into the pit lane it comes alexander rossi adam you keep an eye on this i'll have a look to see when he was last in but that feels 30 minutes ago yeah it's 22 laps so it's not far off but the first three of those snaps are under yellow so perhaps a tiny bit early but they might be playing something of a strategic game with 236 to go not sure he he was in a bit of traffic so i'm not terribly surprised to see alexander rossi coming down the pit lane uh they're doing fuel and tires not sure if they're putting a new driver in that car as the 44 magnus racing acura is crawling around the circuit right now that's spencer compeller behind the wall i'll bring more info to you on that in a moment no rossi's staying aboard for new michelin so yeah that had to just be to give him a bit of clean air for some nice running he's got about another scent before we would expect to see felipe albuquerque take it to the checkered flag a bit later on and yes it was a flat tire by the way for the magnet racing acura with archangels we wait for that car to come back in away goes rossi getting some heat in the michelins and the best news that i can give to his team he's got one slow car ahead of him and then it is a lot of open track right yeah they've dropped them out nicely into a bit of a gap the nsx from magnus racing the archangel the car the white car the speed racing graphics on it isn't it coming back around the number 44 green white car uh i don't see a tire down on that i'll keep an eye on that the pit stops have started in earnest first and second from the lead of the race and dpi wheel and engineering thirty-one that shank racing 60 towards share adam and the rest of the dpi field at least the top end of it are in the pit lane as well for this vp racing fuel pit report and this is interesting because normally the acuras were not hitting with the cadillacs and now there's an accia and there are at least two cadillacs and a mazda well we get the whole variety of the dpi field fuel and tires for the number 60 ms are accurate the driver's side door is open i didn't see olivier jump out of that one but i am seeing driver changes in the mazda that looked like the distinct helmet of mr ollie jarvis climbing aboard the 55 mazda the very distinct helmet of mike conway getting aboard for his first stint of the 31 whalen engineering cadillac out the first car back down the pit lane is that 60 acura it is dane cameron once again so i did see a little flash of green on the helmet going into that car chloe kobayashi's staying aboard the 48 there goes mike conway but he is behind the mazda and ollie jarvis gets to go hunt down that car ahead of him that cadillac good luck ollie you're going to give me a corvette update as well oh yeah i'd almost forgot about that i say it's good job one of us has got memory that's so true we're so lucky on that one um it was a very funny moment earlier on i was kind of shrieking watching the pictures on tv because it was making me nervous to see the two cadillacs battling back and forth the two corvettes so i texted ryan smith ryan said they are on different strategies but once again why do we love corvette racing there's no team orders they're allowed to race the only thing that they are told is don't hit each other guys and apparently that was the message that was going to be relayed again and again and again and again and again as the end of the race draws nearer well they've got history haven't they i'm just going to say mid ohio drivers yeah i know but you know it's the corvette way you fight whatever's out there and if it just happens to be your teammate you can still have a go if you don't know what i'm looking at you recent convert to impsis style racing all you i bet all you have to do in this search engine or a video search engine is uh is put corvette hitler corvettes pit lane mid-ohio the lms yeah i don't even think you have to put ouchie uh certainly don't uh more pit stops for your okay we've got the number five sebastian bordei bringing in the mustang sampling cadillac that was a flash of yellow on the helmet so i'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that that car was staying with the same driver but i said oh no because the whalen engineering cadillac has to serve a drive-through penalty and doing it right off the bat speeding on the pit lane the last trip down plus three so not as much effort as we saw earlier on with the plus eight but still not a pleasant trip so mike conway getting his first laps in the race has to spend his first lap serving a penalty for a drive-through thank you so what happened oh that was debris coming out the back of the magnus car now i didn't think that i'd seen a puncture uh it looked like they were all up it may have been still airing that but there was there's certainly some tyre debris wrapped around the hub of the left rear of that magnus racing car that happened right at the top of the hill at term four heading onto the back street the dpi pit stops are in full effect and the only one we haven't seen is ringer vanderzander let's put that right and ranger comes into the pit lane pops open the driver's side door as if to say hello could i have a gatorade bottle please i'd like a large number seven with a uh gatorade but nobody gives them a gatorade it comes from the other side of the car the drinks bottle does and wranger waiting patiently he's got four new michelins on that car needs a bit of drink for the car as the last drops of bp fuel go in and rangers sent back out in anger adam johnson has just typed in corvettes pit lane mid-ohio lms into youtube and got exactly the result that i was expecting just retweeted that from adam's radio doug feehan talking about it to start with um nice on henry chaps and imsa challenging old school no room for error and the accessibility of the paddock you can watch the races without being stuck to a seat the cars are on track product the vms are world class andrew muggeridge variety of circuits in india no huge run-ups that are at most european circuits the over-the-wall pits uh also uh that has a greater openness and fan friendliness than in europe this is all the question of what makes the difference between himself and european style racing drivers all uh all seem to like it remember how we said if you're gonna speed do it well yeah magnus racing in the speed racer car did just that excellent their penalty coming into the pit lane with that down tire plus 20 kilometers an hour that warrants not only a drive-through penalty but a stop and go in the pit box so when they get back out they'll have to come straight back in jeremy shaw yeah critical penalty here for the car number 31 it was leading the race it had a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pit lane so a critical mistake potentially there for number 31 car mike conway just taken over that car you don't know whether the speedy penalty was coming in or going out do we [Music] in order as after mike conway has left the pitch so that would suggest it was on the way out but unconfirmed but whatever mike conway has just served another penalty so that has dropped him uh from the lead to last place seventh position now in uh the dpi and overall that has handed the lead back to dane cameron was resumed taken over from ollie clark that last pit stop and he now has a three three second edge over alexander rossi and the numbers here in one car unsurprisingly because he came in and made a driver change and presumably took a splash of fuel during that previous previous caution period still trying to find out what happened there uh but um that car is uh still is is now in third position so it's number sixty number ten 101 it's jeremy shaw sheridan john heinous as well leader of the race is philippe nazar but it's only by 2.7 seconds who benefits the number 60 ollie platt is going across the start finish line now and heading down towards the first corner alexander rossi coming into the pits to complete that round of pitch stops haven't got to the bottom halfway of why there was the extra stop kevin magnussen uh came in during the yellow flag went out for a lap and then came back in again and ranger van der zander took the car over i wonder if he had a bit of crap or something may have been didn't lose much from it his rengar is up into third position well we've started something here with this talking point on that in the region um i'll get to that in a moment because we've got a couple of corvettes battling in between the battle for first and second so that's the battle for first and second in gt le man and the battle for first and second in gt dear torna at the same part of the circuit going through the tour of the boot heading up towards the heel there and then following through a bunch of prototypes including the number 10 acura in second place now alexander rossi saw cameron leads from rossi in seconds from the zero horner back to zayn zander in third rossi carving his way past the number 24 bmw and crystal farthest in third place in gt lamont 2 bmw stalking the corvettes good news by the way if you're a follower of magnus racing the 44 nsx is back out again they've unwound what was left of the left rear tire from the hub and that car is back out on the track and jeremy shaw has been doing a bit of digging around and has the answer on the chip can see world war yeah it was uh on that pre previous caution period it was just a slow stop uh they struggled to get the the left front off the car and having dropped to the back of the pack they decided to come in make the drive a change and then get back out again so uh it was just uh just a little glitch there this later stop was clearly just fine so the number zero one car back in very much in contention in that third position now just uh about four seconds behind alexander rossi who has closed in on dane cameron so the two acura's separated by maybe a dozen car lengths or so around about a second uh and the ringer band has ended chasing after that kobayashi he's not too far back in the fourth position either we decided to make a virtue out of the mystique if not the necessity and just took the opportunity to swap drivers as they knew they weren't going to lose any more ground well done uh on the question of the deer tom first says it positions itself as a world series with its history iconic events and manufacturer involvement it just so happens that it doesn't leave north america but it could and it wouldn't look out of place anywhere in contrast the elms positions itself as a regional series and a route to the world championship yep fair point that will account for some of the uh differences of course uh no doubt very good thank you for all of those great question that good stuff uh perhaps the biggest point of difference between the two championships is that the first round of imps is the same length as the entire elms calendar 24-hour race into its owner uh and six 24 hours i think it's seven this year but yeah i'll take your point there's an extra round this year the the elims was always meant to be um i think that was a good point about it being the the stepping stone potentially uh to a world championship and certainly an entrance to lemon of course uh and it is very much aimed at privateer teams and gentlemen drivers and it's understood that they don't have a lot of time so shorter events where you can get there on a friday and leave on a sunday and be back at your desk when those sort of things were important on monday and six times four is 24 that kind of worked and they do go to some lovely circuits uh around europe and of course it does give you a route to potential route to the 24 hours of le mans as well all right 2 23 to go and alexander rossi on the front straight at the moment can just about see the back of dan cameron's my shank racing accurate as rengar vandazanda three seconds further back has just moved the fastest lap of the race to a 91 and a half second lap jeremy that is pushing on in race stream that's very impressive indeed as rengar chases back in that zero one cadillac from chip ganassi racing yeah resets his own fastest lap here he he had set the the fastest start back on lapland 94 at 131.6 so this new benchmark you know half a tenth or so quicker he's charging on there that cut that uh that little glitch in the pits up very unusual for uh cadillac chip ganassi racing but hey this could happen to even to the best of them but clearly that car is fast and it's uh definitely looking like the best of the cadillacs having said that of course the number 31 car during that last stint having got out in the lead with a incredibly fast uh pit stop during the previous caution period was running very very stoutly out in front as well so look this is we're still you know only just over halfway through this race long long way to go actually we've got about uh 20 minutes range so slightly less than the usual regular length into weathertech sportscar championship race but still we've got all seven dpi cars on a lead lap uh the number two uh 31 car is about 47 or eight seconds back having served that drive-through penalty for speeding on pit lane but don't count anybody out at this stage uh and a little while ago i brought you some good news bad news bad news was the grt lamborghini uh being retired good news was that the era motorsport car was coming out from behind the wall uh it's further to that story um bad news good news i can give you bad news is era is now officially retired uh the car went by the wall eight minutes ago not coming back out the good news is we've got a pit collar the number three corvette that's the yellow one jordan taylor brought the car in it will be fuel tires and a driver change antonio garcia the king of spain taking back over he was looking for a running partner the other day couldn't find anyone to go run ten miles with him through the forest funny that right but now he's looking for running partners out on track and hoping that he doesn't get any he just wants to drive 25 cars a few laps ago actually half a handful of laps ago for number 25 car number 24 cars just come in as well so just number four yet to make this round the first schedule stops in gta m and there was a penalty issued for that 25 bmw when it came into the pit lane multiple track limits warning this time there was also a warning handed out for the 16th john halen and the red motorsport porsche race control saying hey we see you using the track limits do it again and we'll make you drive through the pit lane [Music] oh that's you're right on the ragged edge at that point and remember that's uh to the car not the driver so you need to make sure that all your drivers uh know that and understand that because you know driver ear could start to annoy the stewards driver b gets in on his first defense that might bring you down the pit lane allegra motorsports off the circuit at the inner loop uh very unusual he was he was being closed down on by i i think it was alexander rossi in the he was coming very quickly at the right-hand side i think billy decided to take the grass rather than driving across a dpi car that was approaching very quickly indeed into the pit lanes here and another prototype dives in and it looks like the andretti or the sport leisure yes and that would be marco with uh potentially dave done he could be handing over to olly ask you and saying hey good luck belly have fun take it over to the end and indeed marco climbing out and a white helmet getting ready to climb in uh with a properly suited fire suit i'm gonna guess that that is oliver um yeah i'm gonna say that's all of her fairly confidently talked to the young man last night he seemed in good humor about this weekend and ready to get out there and dice it up with the other lmp3 contenders he did such an impressive job in indycar the last two weekends but we like having him in sports cars oh there's a suspension change going on on the front so clearly marco has given some advice uh they're taking the nose off the car number one might not be a suspension change might be something a little bit more dramatic perhaps a new nose going on this car bit of rhinoplasty perhaps a new nose coming over the wall yep so a longer stop but hopefully this makes the car more stable to the end of the race [Music] new drinks bottle going in as well for the driver they had to take the reason that she said she thought it was suspension they had to take the suspension um the plate over the suspension off that you would normally lift off to do the bump and rebound on the shock absorbers which are right on the front end of the car and this little inspection [Music] john this time it's the d3 lmp3 machine that they were five clicks over the limit [Music] uh the 20 miles an hour was magnus yes correct and spencer pompeli so let's give spencer credit for that one absolutely absolutely right uh we're just sorry sir kitchen there's a lexus pit stop going on aaron taylor is out of that car and in has gotten jack coxworth that won't make that connie slower and genial jack hawks with the man from the uh north of england that says what he means and means what he says top look actually fits in well in this paddock uh good to see him doing some well jeremy and i i hope he's found a home with uh vassa sullivan and potentially with lexus because uh he certainly brings something to the paddock and to the racetrack yeah i mean he said he has found a home there he's been with that lexus team now for what four or five years i guess isn't it time flies now but he's certainly been with him since the beginning of that program when it's back run by the the rocket sports team uh and he stayed with uh with the lexus through you know a couple of team changes on and or name changes uh and uh yeah he's he's very much part of the furniture there now i've seen that lexus gtd team and he does bring so much to it he's a really talented driver great guy as well always honest as you say john and just a great guy to have around and i'm loving it too i mean oh yeah he wanted to be an open wheel star and you know he did get an opportunity to drive in the indy cars he was a a champion in the pro house of championship and he really did like remember that top of my head but certainly he was a front runner there all the way through the road to indy but you know the the indie car experience really wasn't the greatest for him and he got this opportunity took it with both hands and has really made full use of it here we see the gtd leader now kind of 16 for right motorsports for porsche into the pits yeah she'll keep an eye on that that i just want to finish the thought on on jack hawks with that jeremy you made a very good point about about that indycar experience not both him that could have easily ended somebody's career that and and really you know soured them or made them want to go and do something else entirely it was quite the reverse with jack he knew he still had something to give and i'm delighted that he's found a place in the sports car world i completely agree with you and that's another great thing i think about about american racing is good there you go team team other teams in different series do pay attention yeah and you know that was the uh the generosities were at uh running rocket sports or rsr or whatever it's called that uh that era you know they they're still very much were very much part of the indycar community and yeah they saw what a talent he was give let's give him a chance here if he's interested he sure was yeah and that that again is a point well made one of the things i've found in speaking of teams in america is if somebody asks me about how a driver is done in europe they're not asking me about results they can find results out anywhere now i know this is a results driven game but i'm far more likely to be asked by you know a team connection about dear biggest um i see he was you know running towards the end of the the bottom end of the top 10 in such and such a series yeah but what was the team like he was running for what was the equipment like he had did he have the best stuff for you know so basically what they're asking me was he over under performing given the platform that he had not just the straight look at the at the results and i think that's a bit of a difference in attitude as well and an interesting one that i've noticed down through the years now remember we had in those change remember dear listener and viewer uh earlier on uh imsa at uh new zealand six hours of the glen we had a nose change which necessitated the inspection match over the top of the suspension on the number 36. that being the prototype from andretti ortersport the leisure gsp 320 that had to come off and then be fastened on again once the new nose had gone on when you knows has gone on the right side of that inspection hatch has not been fastened down at all correctly to use a bit of ron dennis speak it is sub optimally fastened at the moment and will be looking at that now if it flies off it wouldn't be the worst thing for the car to lose a little bit of aerodynamic efficiency and their dampers will be open to the world but of course the problem will be flat on the track so that's why race control will be watching they may be asked to bring that car in and get that fixed now whether that has broken the fastening i can see the fastening on there on the right hand side and it just hasn't fastened down with the clip so whether that's able to just work on the fastening or whether that needs some tape on it uh remains to be seen meantime gt lemon leader in the pit lane adam with a vp racing pit report this is the silver and yellow corvette roaring back into life it was fuel and tires it's clearly the pressure change that they did worked for tommy milner and now he's handed over that car to one nicholas tandy so let's see what nick can do in that car also we've had the 74 lmp three leader into the pits for riley motorsport felipe fraga has taken over that car we're expecting the sister car the 91 to come in soon as well dylan murray will hand that one over to jerome blakemore and kind of some surprising stats for you jerome's lake mullen never even been on the podium of the six hours of the glen and uh mr patrick long who took over the number 16 right motorsport porsche on that pit stop he brought that car in from the lead of the class his best finish at this race is only third so a couple of drivers that we are known for being the greatest of the great in effect at american sports car racing not winning at this track before let's see if that'll change today sure i'm going to have to take you to task for that uh last vp racing kill pit report because that corvette was grey not silver and i'll tell you exactly what gray it was it was hypersonic gray and it's accelerate yellow you know how i know that because you want the streetcar version because there is an imsa gtlm championship edition um that you could get now with the uh the c8 both based on the top line 3lt trim z51 performance package in left-hand drive markets you can get that i'm told it's not available yet at least uh with the uh with the right-hand drives that we're gonna get over in the uk a thousand units of the special edition corvette i bet they're sold out already uh they could sell everyone twice if they corvettes the build down in bowling green uh and hello to everyone down there i know you will be listening let's get back to some british muscle front engine v8 23 heart of racing aston martin vantages in the pit lanes here roman denzel's has to stay aboard he has not yet completed the minimum drive time as a silver so he will not be getting out of that car just quite yet they were doing fuel and tires for the aston martin though also into the pit lane and gtd the 42 nte outing jaden conrad bringing the car in i don't think he's done with his time yet i need to check at the bottom of the hour though when we get the updated drive times uh but the option there would be marcus peltilla who is a very handy driver around here billy johnson has been in the mercedes for allegra motorsport he'll need to clear out all the baby goat food that he's brought back all the grass from that radiator because there was quite a substantial amount from that trip off through the bus stop but it looks like clean stops down here waiting for robbie foley to come into the pits as well thank you and that car is off and running again uh michael martin in our uh discussion point says in defense of the elms uh when it's a standalone event it's free entry awkward including pit walls driver autograph session and grid work when i went to spa you could even stand apart burmese the cars came in but honestly couldn't get better access but yeah fair point i don't think [Music] i think it's not just about that i think there is something different i'm not saying better or worse i just think different um like the idea that american fans are desperate to get the europe playing races and vice versa um i i think it's a bit of difference isn't it so yeah very good keep those coming plenty of good sports car effect listen we're very let's be absolutely honest we're very lucky in the sports car world because generally speaking aspect the the access is good at whatever event you go to and you know cher and i in germany have been to events on many different continents run by many different series and whether it's kraventnik or the elms or lemon or for example um you know they're all great events and we're very lucky indeed that we get to go and see them and if you can get around the world when that becomes possible again then i'm sure you'll all have your bucket lists and they're all worth it absolutely worth it pit stop for turner motorsports yeah and a problem for turner they couldn't get eden reed belted into the car properly and he goes to pull away and doesn't immediately get the same amount of drive that you would hope to get going back down the pit lane it was a very speedy stop by the rest of the crew a great job by the refueling and the tire change but the driver change just seemingly going a bit awry uh he's impressed me to that young man certainly fitted in with uh with that team rather well jeremy uh young aiden silva driver from australia and uh he's done a good job once again yeah for all the races this season has done done very very capably indeed and uh you know someone else who's enjoying the atmosphere i think in imsa and taking advantage of this great opportunity to drive with this fantastic team unfortunately the number 96 they've had some problems over the last few weeks they were looking good last time out in detroit until they had a gearbox failure and then oddly they had another transmission failure yesterday as well during when the practice was yesterday before it was one of the practice sessions so uh you've got to hope that the number 96 have no other issue today shea was talking about earlier on they had a problem with the fuel feed out of their out of their pit side refueling tank but that seemed to be okay i think on that last stop shay so hopefully no issues ongoing [Applause] yeah car back out uh we are due here mazda in race update i was just waiting for the pit stops to go through shear will follow up with that uh team on that so with uh just over two hours to go let's take a mazda in the race update after that round of pit stops [Music] well coming down to the last third of the seal and six hours of the glenn here's how it stands it's a 2.2 second lead at the front of the field for dan cameron in the pink and black number 60. going through turn one and heading towards two now that is the accurate dpi of merchant racing with curve again in second place the similar car from a different team the black and blue number 10 alex rossi in second position those two cars have been slightly trying to pull away from the rest of the field which is headed by rengar van der zander for cadillac chip ganassi racing the zero one car most recent winner stood on the top of the box at belle isle for that chalk colored car they've got 1.1 seconds on camera kobayashi for ally cadillac racing the number 48 cop speaking and all kinds of chances high side passes around the outside he's at the moment riding his look as well as the berm on the outside and holds fourth position by about 12 and a half seconds from ollie jarvis who's in the mazda motorsports dpi number 55 in fifth position he's got 15 seconds on sebastian pour deer who's taking his turn behind the wheel of the mustang sampling jdc miller motorsports dark rear and gold number five kind sixth seventh mike conway will engineering had been leading the race pit stop uh or pit speed infringement has pushed that car down to seventh position that's number 31 car lmp2 as follows 11 from uh has just lost the lead actually uh pr one mathis and motorsport just gone through start finish line scott huffer gets in the lead for the 52 pr one matheson motorsport alright yeah win order sport into second position now for the number 11 car guy smith's behind the wheel of the 22 united all the sport machine in third position gt lebon with uh philip eng leading by 5.9 seconds over the two corvettes today garcia in the three nick tandy in the four the grey car that is remember in the 24 corvettes uh behind the corvette is the number 24 uh augusto farthest he's another one points four seconds back so all of those four cars still very much in the fight lmp3 riley motorsports one and two 14 seconds between the number 74 driven by felipe fargo and the 91 gerald league of morlan with colin brown another 70 seconds behind the poor auto sport in the number 54 the white with tangerine car olly askew trying to chase back but he's another 100 seconds further back down the road for andretti or sport with that loose cover which was attracting our attention earlier on and when he got into that number 36 car gtd motorsports leading for porsche the number nine plaid car under pressure at the moment going through the esses up the hill and right behind him basta sullivan's lexus the jack hawks with under a second behind him half a second in fact at the line hotline purpose for right motorsports is 10 seconds further back in that number 16 bright blue cup brian sellers in the number one pawn with a racing car that had an engine change overnight has been running in the top six all day today the red white and black number one lamborghini and rounding off the top six vasa sullivan another uh lexus rcf in the buffalo big colours about four seconds further back for jack hawks within the 14 car excuse me for zach veach in the 12 car and he's got three seconds on roman de angelis in that very fetching sort of flat blue roman de angelus driven heart of racing aston martin that's how they stand with exactly two hours to go and the final 120 minutes of the sale in six hours of the claim starts right now adam with a vp racing pit at risk fuel pit and paddock report sadly another couple of retirement ship breaking news magnus came back into the pit lane they served their penalty power steering issues once they put andy lally in the car he confirmed it they brought the car back in they decided it was not worth continuing on so that car we will not see again until we race at limerock park because they are not participating in the sprint only round of the championship next weekend but a car that is supposed to participate next weekend and now in question the number 38 performance tech when that car went back behind the wall early on after the collision with the 42 nte audi the team was looking at fixing the radiator they noticed that there was a more substantial issue quote catastrophic engine issue so now they are struggling to try and find a spare engine the exact same position they were in after mid-ohio when there was one spare engine in the country right now there are none and the question is will they be able to even race in four days time add to the retirement weathertech racing coop mcneil with an oil leak which caused a fire on the left rear of the 79 porsche the lead shield from performance tech motorsport dan goldberg brought that car lmp three car at the pits number 30 eight car the sun energy won kenya bull was behind the wheel of the 75 mercedes amg right rear suspension problem that's taken that car out of the running it was uh an accident and fire from misha goykberg in the grt grasa racing team lamborghini huracan that took that one out of the race kyle tilley and era motorsport they're out in the number 18 and that i think is the tale of war at the moment adding to that 44 magnus with archangel car that shear has just talked about so that's two four five cars out of the 38 that started that have officially retired so inside the last two hours jeremy now we start to have to come back and get a piece of paper out get the pencil and start doing the doing the calculation probably worth i think um running through we've had over an hour of green flag running what the situation is at least at the front of the field uh we have we should be getting pit stops coming any time and as i say that we've got the uh number 10 connie minolta in to the pit lane and alex rossi is out of that car and alex rossi done for the day having contributed and maintaining the lead in the michelin endurance championship so good for alexander in a really strong running but it is now time for the one the only philippe albuquerque so move out of the way please just kind of give him a little bit of room and uh yes your cars will be fine no felipe going out four new michelin tires on that car and a lot of fuel also into the pit lane a cadillac an assault for simon pashnow who jumps for the ally racing cadillac it should be simon oh we're at two hours to go yeah i think it should be simon into the end of this one everybody has met the minimum drive time in that car and if you've got a simon pass you know you tend to leave him in the car don't you yeah a couple of people including adam johnson asking how do the teams decide what the order of the drivers did to the race will be and how long they drive um rock paper scissors behind the uh behind the garage before the start some of that is mandatory adam you'll hear us talk about mandatory drive time but in the pro classes uh it tends to be that they will split it up fairly evenly and the right driver for the job the right drive at the time they'll be talking to the driver all the time jeremy and that's part of the relationship that we were talking about earlier on particularly in the pro pro category you might get a team saying can you do another stint do you want to try another stint and you've you've got to be honest both ways there and and work out what's best for the team and when to make those driver changes and who they're having at the end yeah very much so john you you have to rely on uh on that team chemistry you know you've got to you've got to be completely honest all the way around and sometimes you know somebody might think i hear i'm good to go here but then you know there might be another reason to to make a driver drive a switch maybe you know somebody just just they're just ready to go this this particular day this particular time they want to get behind the wheel of the car it's all sorts of sometimes official reasons but uh it's picking those times it is crucial uh we're in this uh you know this point of the race now where the end is kind of in sight node within two hours to go uh and so uh you know it is a a critical time of the race yeah think of it um adam as a like an ice hockey bench you can do ruling substitutions there's nothing that says you've got a cycle through your two your three drivers in driver here driver b driver's seat driver here drive it here driver's seat you don't have to do that uh most teams will like to do uh like to do it in a a a planned way but as jeremy said sometimes uh it changes around uh number 60 into the pits now share from the lead dean cameron brings that car in that's the minecraft acura there's no way dane cameron's getting out of that car i would be shocked if he even gets out before the end of the race to be perfectly honest but they are doing fuel and tires for that car just waiting on the fuel once again msr with the perfect tire stop waiting on the fuel probe no time wasted also into the pit lane the mazda ollie jarvis bringing that car in the passenger side door is open the driver's side door is so close so i would imagine only staying aboard that car for the time being and the same goes for ranger vandasana so perhaps only a drink bottle change for the driver from the netherlands and it's a slow stop on the left rear for the mazda no no no it wasn't oh that gave me a little bit of heart failure but there is some damage to the left rear of the mazda it looks a bit dirty actually but just to update on the driver changes it was a driver change kevin magnussen in the zero one now still ali in the mazda and uh look duval has taken over the number five mustang sampling cadillac from subway so that was a double for rengar and kevin now front which is why we don't have ipsa on network tv in the states today but there is a highlights program coming tonight on nbc sn7 eastern set your dvrs for that if you want to if you're in the stage you want to see some of the things that we've been talking about now i was going to make a point about something there and i took a drink and it's gone completely out of my head it will come back to me another time you know what i said about one of us had a memory but unfortunately i only had that memory that was it i have no more i have no more so yeah now yeah you i've handed it over i've handed it over to you i've got a good battle going on as ever in the gt dear tournament category zach rubichon is leading with uh fast motorsports porsche from vassa sullivan in second half a second or there abouts with traffic coming through and zach will be shocked then watching where jack hawks might get some advantage with the faster cars going through they're at turn eight at the moment lovely sweeping entry into that right-hander riding up on the yellow and red curves and then through the turn nine the left hand a bit of a late apex there you drift out towards the wall meantime and the bmws have been battling together in gt le mom at the moment uh they are split up because uh after the pit stops we've got philly leading from the two corvettes and bmw 24 with a crystal farthest in third but there's only about eight seconds between the remaining gt le as our second place car goes across the line jeremy this is boiling up quite nicely this there's not too much difference in the pit lane strategy we know that some of the cars have slightly better fuel mileage than the others but this is boiling up quite nicely as i'm looking down the top of the charting daytona prototype top three within 10 seconds top five within 24. uh there's still a bit of racing to go here jeremy sure yeah very much so john and in gta 11 2 it's heating up we've got the uh number 25 bmw uh leading at the moment that was the first car to make its pit stop during this regular this this last sequence it was seen pretty early actually with uh remember that would have been just was that just after the three hour mark perhaps another 35 25 car came in anyhow with the number four car went to a good bit longer than everybody else in gtlm and that's come out now in third position in the class so it's number 25 bmw number three corvette the number four corvette then the number 24 bmw but all of them covered by just over eight seconds i'm gonna talk i don't need to turn my microphone on i find that helps massively the power of thought is good but not that good yes very good just uh to let you know by the way that uh we're back here on thursday and friday um we will have for you the weathertech sports car championship and the insert mission pilot challenge we've got a couple of practice sessions we're covering on thursday july the 1st 2 p.m eastern for the first session there and then on friday at uh 220 eastern pilot challenge race normal length for that one at a late start for the weathertech sports car championship half five our michigan count down to green on friday with the the race uh running through into the evening time i think it'll be dark then but it should be lovely light by the time we finish uh what time is that six o'clock that we start the uh the race on friday coming so put those theater in your diary instagram.com and that if you scroll down to the bottom the schedules there and you can quite easily see when we are on the air another pit stop for prototype ship that was the 52 pr1 mathis lmp2 machine that scott huffaker bringing it into the pit lane i did not see a driver change there what i did see was the door opening for a drinks bottle so that means that it will be another stint for scott and then he'll probably hand over to nick jensen for the end of this race also on an outlap stephen thomas listed once again against the number 11 machine he did meet minimum drive time but clearly he wants a little bit more and ooh is that a late pit entry cross for the faf motorsport porsche perhaps so keep an eye out on the race control channel but that's zach coming into the pits his time is done he can now hand over to larry and give lawrence vantour a chance to bring this one home uh and that means that jack hawks with goes through into the lead that was the leading car in gt lamont laurence van tour john does the last to make it it's round of pit stops this time around yeah and so certainly should be able to get to the end from here with just one more stop i think well that uh that was a full grain flag run and uh they run by [Music] no it's been one of those days that's it it really has they run 30 laps there if you prefer 56 minutes uh for zachary robichamp bantu not moving they're working on the left-hand side i think they're doing something with the mirrors but that car's been sitting for now 55 seconds too long they're trying to get the window net to latch the driver's net won't secure it now it shows johnny knotts gives the thumbs up and lawrencevantor roars away but that was at least 18 seconds too long of a pit stop ugh that stinks uh and the reason they didn't pull away you might think well why you just leave the window up no you can't it's mandatory that that window net is there whether your window is open of course certainly can't open your window without it whether your window is up or closed there's two nets inside the gt cars one to the window side one to the center console side uh they both have quick release buttons in case you have to get out in a hurry and they're both latch like a almost like a seat belt it's a round uh looks like an oversized nail actually so it's about a quarter inch [Music] and then there's a quick release lever normally a big red button as well so that the driver can ping them all now sure we talked a lot earlier this week uh about track limits warnings there were plenty of them handed out they were like confetti at one stage we talked about why it's important for risk control to do that and set their stall out early we had a session this morning in warm up where there were none handed out so well done race control for making the puppies understand that uh they have to stay within the white lines but it's starting to get a bit critical again now particularly for one car and a significant car at that yeah the australian puppy has just been booped on the nose we were singing the praises of 83 but he's just drawn the ire of race control and it should be said as you really point out it's not just the driver it is the car but the driver behind the wheel of the car right now is the one that started the attention final warning that was put in bold from race control for the 96 turner motorsport bmw which means that if you are going to continue abusing track limits you're going to start serving drive-through penalties if you continue even with your drivers you're going to be held in the pit lane before you're allowed to go back out now the one thing i'm not sure about is if this is a final warning to that car or if this is a final warning from race control in general if they're just tired of having to issue these penalties for track limits yeah they had a session stopped at spa red flag because race control just got bored with doing it so they just red flagged it and brought everybody in uh and then had a uh effectively had a driver's maintenance uh allen process says that fasteners like a big headphone plug perfect alan uh i'll pass you me headphones why don't you comment but why didn't i think of that well done that's a perfect description of the fastening of the net fafca back out on the track it's been a decent stop until that point uh just the thought no bomb here for uh lawrence and earl being that split up in their duties as porsche drivers this year looked like a fairly steady uh a fairly steady stop share until the issue with the window net but they are going to be back together later in the year yeah you say that they're split up for the year but no the weathertech racing porsche will have bamford together with poop so i'm calling it bam thormac i think is is what we should go with for that one um but yeah the duo in two different cars for gtd to begin the air and then ultimately uh forces outside of their control coming into play but that window net just didn't want to stretch all the way and a lot of these teams use bungee cords to try and get the window net to fall in the proper position when you push the eject button it looked like that bungee cord just wasn't stretching off all the way that it normally does extremely frustrating for the canadian team i think there was a slight knot in it jeremy in the webbing yeah i think so with it in that webbing [Music] the eye not the eye but the the clip that goes in the big headphone plug as we're going to call it now thank you can get kind of caught in that webbing and it just got tangled up i think just really one of those things that can happen as she was absolutely right there was there was a boundary called on there to to keep it sort of where it should where it should be but not in the orientation that it should be that was the problem for the uh outgoing driver there really unfortunate big push for the number 31 whalen cadillac mike conway leaving nothing out there so he drops two michelins from the right hand side of his car onto what used to be grass but is rapidly becoming a little trench at the end of the curve at the end of turn six the right hand side exit curve of turn six between he could be ashamed one of two others jeremy they are literally plowing their own furrow at the exit of turns i'll get rid of it i'll get back sorry but that number 31 team i mean he really does need to get a move on because without a full course caution that car is not going to be in contention for a win that drive-through penalty was very very costly the good news is uh since this most recent round of pit stops mike conway has been able to reduce the deficit to the the car the car directly ahead of him but it's still 14 seconds or more it was as much as 25 um but he's still a long way off off the ledios a full minute off the lead which is uh currently dane cameron who's he's extended his lead during that round of pit stops number 60 car came in only a couple of seconds ahead with another 10. that gap is now 12 seconds top three and gt lemon heading into the inner loop philippe in the red number 25 bmw then it's the accelerating yellow corvette in second place that's the number three of paul sitting driver antonio garcia then the grier of nick tandy sure britney's probably tuned in [Music] i only say silver because i'm a raiders girl i love the color silver and black but it's not silver black no it's silver and yellow yeah there's black on the tires yeah all right you're getting as bad as me with the red white and black cards really it really is top three together as they come out of a turn number nine in the ten super quick entry to turn and n goes all the way to the right hand side gets his right side michelin's on the white line before he turns it into he's heading the pit lane and the two corvettes will sweep by now that in terms of his stint with an hour and 38 minutes to go that's very interesting he's done 30 laps this time around that's 53 minutes jeremy um so that's uh at least what we got yeah that's just under 100 minutes so he can do it with one more stop from [Music] it'll be here staying in the car and no it's conor d felipe taking over on that one the driver who started the 25 bmw getting it back aboard which leads me to believe that john edwards will be getting back for the 24. when that one comes down the pit lane uh the 25 the red black and white one just for you a full service on that car fuel tires waiting on the fuel probe to come out and then connor d felipe will be sent to try and fend off those corvettes yeah i'm not sure if the bmw drivers have done all the same stints actually i'll have a look at that in a moment but that'll be a double stint to the end then uh for have go ahead this it's been starting driver for the bmws first stop second driver gets in does a double stint next stop third driver gets in does a double stint and now back to the starting drivers so the starting drivers are gonna finish off with probably a double correct yeah all right so connor fellaini then given the honor and responsibility uh for chasing the corvettes down they are on a somewhat different strategy uh the uh nick tandy car is at 20 laps into its stint that car has done 34 laps that must have made some yellow in that yeah the wood was only two laps well uh and garcia is on his 26th lap at the moment so expect another four possibly five from garcia three or four actually i would say maybe as many as ten from nick tandy before he's into the pit lane that's gonna if tanya can do another ten laps that's gonna take him yeah it's not gonna help because they're still gonna need one more so they're all gonna need one more uh before the ending jt lemon jeremy uh two more for the court uh yeah two two more sorry the go back to one more for the bm that's just stopped impressive that they've got that 34 lap stint though out with the number four car sure it's by far the longest stint tandy did a 34. tom miller did a 34 lap stint at the beginning but we had some yellow 30 laps did with yellow with the second stint that was four laps of yellow and then 34 laps did for tom milner with only two laps of yellow in the sting before the one that tandy's in now who says a corvette can't meet milo j [Music] right jeremy coming down to uh 95 minutes to go cameron by 11 seconds call it 12 seconds at the front of the field now the two acuras haven't had it all their own way out front but they do seem to have the pace today those two accurate [Music] yeah episodes do uh but so is the number one the zero one car in particular and i think yeah the mazda should be in with the shout here as well potentially uh that's here all of those cars are fast number 31 car is uh i think i think it's quick enough but um that that penalty just was a big handicap they they got themselves out front by the way we didn't really talk about this at the time they thought we maybe shaded that we wondered how they managed to leapfrog their way from fifth to uh first during that caution period back on laptop 87 and of course the reason for that it was shortly before the three hour mark so they they slightly short fueled that car to get out of everybody else so they would gain maximum points at the three-hour mark in this race for the michelin endurance cup i kind of zoned on that but maybe she mentioned yeah over time uh so uh yeah but yeah even then it then needed a little bit more fuel than everybody else during that most uh recent stop and then of course they had the drive-through penalty as well so that costs them quite a bit of time here's a number 16 car into the pits out of what second place i think in gtd yeah jack hawks with lazing jt for vassa sullivan pat long now in the pit lane for right motorsports as jeremy said the number 16 car the blue black and white car and that looked a tidy stuff fuel and tires for patrick long not even an additional drinks bottle for him i don't think they're gonna open the door and risk the window net not going back on since uh it was another portion that that happened too but no very clean stop and i am expecting jack oxford to be coming in shortly because as jeremy was just talking about short fueling they definitely shortfield that lexus the last time and they were only stationary for 32 seconds and jack has now been out on track for 43 minutes so the 14 lexus is due a pit stop come visit me jack i i'm just looking at that pit stop for the the right motorsport car that was only a 22 lap stint and they've done as many as uh 31 they've done an hour 58 minutes now that did have two uh long laps because they were under caution but that's interesting um are they splitting to the end there that was only a 40 minute stint that means that they only have to do basically about the same again uh and then stop and fuel the finish i i think they're looking at less time in the pit lane here in terms of what they're doing and fill in the fuel because they did not need fuel last year they did not need fuel nope and uh see asked and you shall receive i told jack to come visit me and he did jack hawks worth into the pit lane fuel and tires for the lexus and i'd imagine this will be a longer stop where all 40 seconds worth of fuel go into the tank because they had to run it pretty close to dry on that last step the brakes are smoking as jack oxford knocks it into gear and then rolls away uh no 33 seconds worth of fuel showing up on the side of the car maybe they're doing their feeling a little bit too quickly or else maybe they're not refueling it to the maximum amount every time it's very strange shay adam is our vp racing field of reporter jeremy shaw joins me john hind off in the hagerty global broadcast center coming down to the last 90 minutes of racing with pit stops still to come before the end of this race under beautiful weather conditions here finally made 100 degrees on the track fahrenheit uh of course that's uh 38 celsius it's 30 celsius in the air which translates to at 88. the humidity is sort of leveled out at ran about 51 percent just after three o'clock in the afternoon here in the finger lakes region of upstate new york we're at the glen of course the classic road racing circuit natural terrain road circuits mimicking the topography of the local roads that did hold some risks here but that got far too dangerous some nasty accidents the old broad circuits still exists and there's a has a historic trail and historic drill around it with the names of the circuit corners etc some of the tales some good some not so good it's worth if you're up there looking that up and going to it's not too difficult to fight beautiful part of the world well worth a visit and for those who nor the f1 history of watkins clinton why shouldn't you they had 20 u.s grand prix from 1961 onwards used to be the final race of the season if you come over from europe when it is possible to do so i promise you you know when people see it be careful what you wish for sometimes there's a disappointment this place does not disappoint not at all extraordinary place to come to my very favorite places to watch mortal racing adam alexa's pit stop the other one has come in with zach the other one the other one we need to get that on this but lexus the other one the other one oh yes there there is the leader and then there is the other one and right now the other one is the number 12 although the 12 does tend to outperform the 14 and races of long distance so just putting that out there um it's been a very clean pit stop for that lexus zach beach staying aboard fuel tires windshield tear off from zach and uh looks like they are getting in the new drinks bottle perhaps changing out the data stick that pit stop was one minute and 15 seconds for zach beach from pitt in to pit out 10 seconds longer than the sister car something going on right so let's now get into some analysis of who's doing what to whom in gtd romantic angelus has uh 23 laps on his stint the tournament bmw 22 22 for mark's pop talent in the nte audi [Music] billy johnson in the allegra motorsports 22 as well so those cars due in shortly we've got pit stops coming for colin brown and oliver askew in lnp three jerome playing them all in about four laps better on fuel there corvette racing antonio garcia has he just stopped no he hasn't he must be doing this time around tandy with still probably five laps to go he's got hoping uh only about halfway through he's stint in the number 52 leading lmp2 same story for tristan nunes and the win orcsport car and at the front of the field in the dpi category that did cameron is a couple of laps worse off on fuel and tires than phillipe alba kirk but still with seven or eight laps to go before they come in and see above comment for kevin magnussen and ollie jarvis as well so we'll see their lap times i think start to improve in a moment as they push a wee bit harder there's your money on jeremy's first well i mean the number 60 car certainly has uh has the upper hand delivery right now he obviously has the lead but when whenever it is in the lead it looks it looks pretty comfortable there so um you know i'd have to say it's certainly looking good for them right now there's no more caution periods it's going to be very difficult for them to be caught but to look the second third and fourth cars they're still covered by just um two or three seconds or thereabouts and uh and you give it a quick full course caution they're right back in the game super battle isn't it though in lmp2 you're just talking about it it's still having a backup wheel now just 10 seconds between them they that that's one of the biggest gaps is being between number 52 and number 11 most of the way through this race and again two young drivers two cars my spies in the pit lane are saying that it is it's looking fun right now that even walking from the pits to the paddock you get drenched in sweat but antonio garcia doesn't know anything about that he's staying in the car for another spin and hopefully as far as he's concerned to the end of the race fuel and tires for antonio as he goes back out to do what he does best drive a race car driving very very rapidly right uh that's they're gonna cure about 40 they went 53 minutes there so there's only 85 minutes to go so that'll be a relatively short stop or do you come in the moment that you could get to the end new drinks it gives them a huge window jeremy yes that's a very good point and and what jeremy means by that is that they have options they are not struggling to get to the end on the fuel that they've got in or they're going to put in um they're not bound to come in at any particular time tandy's come in uh and that's a wee bit early for tandy i reckon but they're they're covering off their teammate and the other bmw i think this is as much about um track position as anything else but what this will do is give them the opportunity jerry jeremy to do two different strategies they either go along and fuel late and short or they come in uh as soon as they are ready and read brim phillips to get to the end and get their first stop at their last stop rather done first which is all it's not not the worst thing to do is it here no that's right you you really do want to make your last stop before [Music] will fall behind you behind the safety car so you're absolutely right there but you know what they're also thinking about perhaps is tyre wear attention to that i must admit uh about you know how much tired degradation there is i don't think there's a lot but certainly something to bear in mind particularly as it is quite a bit warmer this afternoon than i think it has been the rest of the weekend uh the flapping cover for the uh andretti ortersport lmp car has disappeared it's back in the pit lane now and it doesn't have it hasn't had it got a little bit of a ding from now which prototype was that it was the 76th car yeah what was the dpi going by it it was the zero one thank you i thought i saw the dark red on the fin i don't think they're gonna bother putting that inspection cover back on the 36 or the andretti car goes out with uh the suspension dampers exposed to the world hope they put a little bit of sun sunblock on that otherwise they could have kept very red by the end of the race well and and that's the other thing that i was just wondering is correct me if i'm wrong but isn't that how you get to the pedal box as well so wouldn't that add an additional bit of cooling for oliver askew toady's nice and uh chill as the rest of them is roasting slowly yes yeah it's a good point uh there's there's a few in there there's i think you have to take the nose off on on the at least year to get to the brick clutch um reservoirs [Music] riley mo sports car and the call order support machine or certainly to the leader there marco andretti he kind of had a bit of a struggle during his uh earlier stint he couldn't get past uh john bennett who was running a pretty good place it had to be said and it took to mark a lot more time to get past him and by that time the riley motor sports cars have pulled out a fair fair bit of a gap yeah they've run a good race jeremy um oh hang on a second it's a team run by bill riley uh again as as i said to you the team i'm going to sell that as a bringing news headline are you bill riley runs really good race uh yeah that's been happening for a few years now mr shaw hasn't it this is a fact it has and it doesn't seem to matter jeremy what manufacturer or what class he's running in there it's a race car it's got a wheel at each corner he manages drive as well his team are always well organized and they're if they need to learn a new car they seem to be able to learn a new car it's it's really impressive actually when you think about it well it certainly is with the uh yeah i mean they they've got all the everything they need there to run front-running cars into including experience which is a huge factor is a bit stock for the aston martin which comes into the pits in the lead on this sequence it's gone about a half a dozen laps longer than the the lexus is is is and number four 16 uh porsche for right motorsports so that car gives up the lead to aiden reed in the tournament sport bmw and that will move marcus parker a two time winner of this race let's not forget he's making his return to the insular tech championship for the first time in four or five years the the flynn marcus paltella but driving for the nte sports team had just done a fabulous job jayden conright has set the fastest times in that car during the race and very good times they have been but demarcus parker two-time winner he won this race with dane cameron back in what 2014 i think that was and also won it in 2018 as well so he's got a great record here and that car is currently in the second position with that pit stop for number 23 aston ale cadillac in uh ale cadillac in share and that's another full service it is uh it was fuel tires drinks bottle chain you know as he stays aboard and stopped going uh almost perfectly simon just waiting about a second after the fuel knob looking up before going back out onto the circuit and if you guys want to look somewhere well nick tammy is doing nick tandy things purple in sector two i'm not used to seeing overall fastest laps with an hour and 20 minutes to go in the race this is sort of an odd time for that to be happening yeah new tyres but a full tank of fuel so tandy trying to i i wonder if they'll freeze oh that's corvette that won't freeze anything willa but he he's gonna he wants to get by and lead the race uh right now before the last pit stops i i reckon they're going to run about 30 to 33 minutes from that pit stop of the two corvettes they pitted a lap a lot between each other uh and they're i reckon they'll run 30 to 33 minutes and pick with just around about 47 48 minutes to go um and then they'll run to the end from there and then we'll have a then the stagger will unwind effectively uh and we'll have the battle between them and the bmw uh in third position at the moment which is the well actually the farthest cars just going at the pit so that will become kind of deflate me as uh as they cycle through the pit stop as far as is now in the pit lane but they will still have to stop again as well so there's no real advantage for the bmw unless they're we could have them all coming in around about the same time i i do wonder if one of those two manufacturers will split their strategy and send one of those cars long um to try and do a much shorter pit stop at the end and keep the track position you you're in they you have the issue then jeremy that if a safety car comes out that ruins your your strategy on that but if you've got two cars in the race and at the moment your third and fourth is bmw what have you got to lose yeah indeed a pittsburgh number 10 car comes out of the second position 25 laps in there for uh philip alberkirk in that number 10 i didn't see whether the driver changed i was looking to see how many laps it had done it was around about 10 seconds behind dane cameron who i would expect to stay out for the last one possibly two last time into the last round of pit stops number 16 number zero one and the number 55 each came in two laps after the number 10 car sliding into the pit box the five mustang sampling under 80 minutes to go now 77 minutes to go why is that important because these prototypes at the front of the field could do about 40 minutes so it will be into the window now for one more stop after this one adam with the mustang sampling car it is tristan vodia out like duval in so duvall will be taking this car to the finish fuel and tires and the uh cadillac the konica minolta acura there we go i can say it all at once that was no driver change jeremy philippe albuquerque staying aboard that car to the end of the race but they did do fuel and new tires there was a little bit of fatigue that i picked up on on the tire changers part lifting the tires just looked like it was more of an effort on that last attempt into the pit lane also the zero one cadillac chip ganassi racing they are doing four tires and fuel no driver change so that means kevin magnussen staying aboard for at least one more stint if he takes it to the end it would be a triple to the end or they could put wranger in fresh as a daisy ready to go and bring it to the checkered don't know which one i prefer at this stage to be honest they look like brand new tyres going on the zero one jeremy yeah i might they'll probably put rengar in for the final stint well i don't get you right sure you actually ride on that one uh but that that car came in the than i had anticipated but still as you said john they can easily get to the uh to the end here with [Applause] 40 to 80 or 120 yet with one more stop uh but dane cameron by the way in the leading car has just said his best knack of the race of 131.571 but the fastest laparoscopy set by rengar van der zender at 31.564 so 7 000 of a second as well this is all setting up isn't it very nicely for a battle of the pit crews potentially in about 40 minutes time or just under adam is watching the fuel go in to the red white number 31 cadillac and you wouldn't bet it against the whalen engineering crew if it comes down to a pit lane battle they know what they're doing fuel tires at least the people as a brand new michelins onto that car and pippa durant back aboard the mazda is also under the pit lane oliver jarvis bringing this car in i expected to see him in to the end of the race but we'll have to wait and see if perhaps they put tinks back into the car the driver's side door is open looks like there's a driver change going on yep ollie walking back over the pit wall which tells me that is orange on the helmet harry tignall is back behind the wheel once again looking to try and make it two in a row for mazda motorsport at watkins glen and two in a row for harry and jonathan they were the drivers the last time around fuel and tires for that car as well and who else did i see into the pit lane oh cat leg in the team hardpoint ebm porsche she came down the pit lane that team has done one fewer pit stop than the front runners in gtd they are only on five whereas pretty much everyone else is on six so a good quiet performance by them today um just a little bit of remedial work going on to the left rear of that mazda we saw the piece of body work behind the rear wheel was a little bit of right in one of the earlier pit stops there's been a little bit of contact there but not very much looks like somebody might just run into the back of them or maybe a bit of side by side contact and they were just making sure that that wasn't going to fall off and caused a problem leader dave cameron into the pits after setting his fastest staff of the race three laps ago as the vp racing fuel have burned off looked like the mazda was out right with kevin magnussen so that's going to be a very very interesting battle indeed indeed john and not only that but the zero one car got out ahead i think of the number 10 car the magazine the head of albuquerque after that pit stop number one cargo one lap longer on that stint than the number 10 the zero one car managed uh 24 laps uh 23 laps for several other cars that's truly zero one car actually did whatever anyhow the number the zero one car is ahead of number ten and that could be absolutely critical yeah uh interesting driver rotation for the fair shack racing with curb haggard journey and accurate uh cheer probably to the end of the race now i think we've got the frenchman ollie playing there yeah i would definitely see that being the case but i mentioned that mazda trying to defend the race win and it was harry jonathan and olivier who drove to the wind here almost two years ago uh wow two years ago already um but yeah olivier paul was the third driver for the mazda back then he too is trying to defend the race win but with a different manufacturer in a different team let's see which one of them can pull it off or if any one of the other five dpis that's still on the lead lap can make some magic happen well things can turn in an instant here we know that hashtag michelin prt seconds uh from nte sports audi that's the 96 from the 42. uh uh matt montale in that car now with billy johnson in third 4.8 seconds further back and he's at the head of a queue because he's got jack hawks with right up his tailpipes in the number 14 bright yellow lexus rcf gt3 uh and then right motorsports part long he's about to eight seconds further back and six ahead of the lamborghini urakan number one of brian sellers that's your top six in gt d'atorna in lmp3 jerome blankenmoreland leads the riley jewel number 91 by 20.2 seconds to his teammate felipe fraga in the number 74 car colin brown is just on a hundred seconds uh behind them so right on the tail end of the lead lap in that class because they're running about a minute 41 so he's a minute 37 back the gt le mander two carv corvettes are a couple of seconds apart nick tandy in the lead now of the corvette racing train eight wheels of c8r sandy has got by garcia and he's heading for the hills he's uh pulled out 2.5 seconds and 3.6 further back it's color to philippe in the first of the bmw's the number 25 car then in third 12 and a half seconds ahead of his teammates four in lmp2 here on matheson motorsports origin with a healthy one-minute 15-second lead out of the rejoining number 11. so that is actually going to go out a little bit from that we're boys now behind the wheel of united all the sports third place number 22 origami in dpi ollie player by 14 and a half seconds from the zero one of kevin magnussen so that's acura dpi from cadillac dpi my shank racing number 60 the pink and black car just coming through to the end of another uh lap now through to turn 11 and kevin magnussen as i said in second position he's just on the shoot between nine and ten at the moment then it's harry tinkle just a second and a half back and charging and took almost half a second out of magnuson last time around in the white with red and blue stripes mazda number 55. he's got 1.8 seconds on philly albakirk who is holding station at the moment in fourth position in the number ten that is the cunningham and although the gloss black and blue car and then it's 40 seconds back to fifth place number 48 the ally cadillac simon paciono at the wheel six seconds between him and like to file for mustang sampling the dark gray and gold number five uh people durrani somewhat hamstrung uh at the moment has got pace in that car stuck in traffic at the moment uh and some 12 and a half seconds further back in seventh position suffered with the pit lane speeding penalty when mike conway i think was driving the car and that's that took them out with a lead remember they're now a minute and 16 seconds away from the lead that's the situation with an hour and seven minutes to go in the ceiling six hours of the glen on imsa ridge and it's a tv [Music] uh quickly some pit stops before we go to the pit stop sequence with jeremy shaw adam has a vp racing pit report we've just seen the 28 allegra motorsport mercedes into the pit lane daniel morad taking that car back over fuel and tires for them and the 42 nte motorsport audi into the pit lane marcus paula not getting out of that car fuel and new tires going on waiting for the tire stop to be done they still have yet to change the right rear fuel nozzle should come out here soon but the tire change is going to take a little bit too long for them let's wait and see if they're able to get it done not a very clean stop for this car oh wheels spinning on the jacks before the car dropped down that's a drive-through penalty 42 just took themselves out of contention jeremy short pit stop rotation or the sequence uh at least uh tell me what you know and what you reckon they're talking rotations that was a an uncharacteristic error there for uh marcus parteller but yeah big changes during this round of pit stops number 60 no change there that comes out with a very handy lead actually extended a little bit from 10 to 15 seconds now but in second place it's now the zero one car who elite fought ahead of the number 10 as did the number 55 during this round of pit stops the number 60 car did a lot longer than everybody else 26 laps on that last into fuel that's going to put him in better shape for the final pit stop of the day we won that later than the number 55 which is strong he's now in third place as harry teagle in that master uh and just a second or so behind kevin mike so that's going to be a really good scrap all the way through the end of this race and philip albakirk has he doesn't seem to quite have the pace to be perfectly honest as his two teammates in this race maybe that's an illusion to me but he he the other guys were weren't losing any ground and he has done plus they last round a lot of time drawing that round the pit stops don't really know why yeah odd one that isn't it really is two corvettes then leading out in jt le lamont nick tandy has had stretched out for two and a half seconds he's been pulled back in traffic to just on half a second head through the tour of the boot to turn seven beautiful uphill sweeping right hand corner point the car at the sky through comes people durrani in the 31 red white wheeler engineering cadillac putting another lap on the gt the board leaders turn eight much trickier than it looks turn eight looking at the pick a breaking point and then the camera seems to help till about halfway through the corner turn night and tandy is being held up by the allegra motorsports at gt le mancha and that's what was slowing him down a wee bit got through now and he's under the front straight completes another lap of just over 63 minutes to go and all his callers gtd leader in from turner mortis board and answering the drive through is the audi and there's been an incident at turn one and it's a not a small one lost on the exit to turn one spearing across the track into the right-hand side full course caution 63 minutes to go turner motorsport have got the pit stop done there might be able to go to the end from here it'll be close if there's a long clear up that could be a massive massive stroke of luck for the 96 car everybody else will have to pack up the emr safety vehicle one of the cayenne gts's the zero one car already at the machine oh my goodness me that's a big incident everybody having to slow down i'm very pleased to see by the way everybody is slowing down it's the tower motorsport number eight car by the way that has gone in the driver's door is open and it's gabby aubry that's behind the wheel of that car the very laughable frenchman he's out head in hands he knows you i think he knows he's made a mistake he's healthy enough to vault the three-layer guard rail on driver's right and he doesn't want to be talk to seen or anything else sitting talking to the emr safety crew debris all over the road at the exit of turn one that jeremy looks to me and we haven't had the opportunity to to see what happened but that looks to me very much like the classic over the curbs at turn one and the car snaps around and then bites spears you into the armed corps on the opposite side of the track if it's not it's a bounce off the left hand side and the impact's been so big that it's bounced him all the way across to the right but whatever that's been a big impact there at the exit turn on for gabby aubry yeah it really has and because we don't know there's any other cars involved because that's a guardrail on the left-hand side of the track it's a long way off the racing surface particularly when the drivers are told not to use that run off here they are they are enforcing the track limits being the the red and yellow curving and the white line at the exit of turn one there's a distant view that was it was the curb it was the curve and went inside first yeah yeah into the outside pouch the body work went to drivers left the car actually stopped in the middle of the road and then gabby was just rolling it i think clutch dipped trying to get off the middle of the road which he did rather well with what was left of the tower prototype so yeah my first thought over the curb lose the back end bite and into the right hand side uh he's over the other side of the armcois out of the car out of the tower motorsport machine this is going to be a decently long uh clear up as we move into the final hour of racing of the seal and six hours of the glenn which starts now live on himself and imsa tv thanks very much indeed to all of our volunteers at the glen uh great work all over details but before that as i say we're back here on thursday and friday for three more events under the imsa umbrella well jeremy now i have got the strategy software open and i'm doing frantic calculations how long is this yellow going to be who's going to roll the dice somebody will roll the dice i have no doubt at all the gt cars have a little bit more in terms of track time per fuel stop i can't see any of the dpis unless this is a particularly long stop all of them had what four or five laps at speed before that yellow came out at least some of them more than that yeah we'll see some of those particularly the ones at the back in uh dpi coming in under this caution i think number 48 the number 31 most likely and the number five they're definitely going to come in because that will mean their final pit stop will be shorter um and i would i would be surprised to see uh the difficult decision is for the number 60 car because that was out in front it's uh it's running long gold fuel most of the other cars in any case so therefore requires less fuel the interesting thing is whether the top three will come in and and give up potentially give up contract position in case one of the others doesn't so but but i would certainly expect the last reading to be in the pit lane now for a splash another 48 i was in 12 laps again anyway so that's pretty much that's halfway through it so i'm sure they'll be in um and that's going to be really interesting uh the lmp2 cars they just both made their hits off to a few laps ago in any case under green yeah so i would expect the orders to remain the same their number 52 and the uh number 11 they've had a fabulous battle all the way through this race i think guy smith is a couple of laps behind in the united sports entry calendar 22 so it's really just between the 52 and the 11 as it has been all the way through it gt lm yeah that is interesting john isn't it because they were lasting between best about 20 minutes ago so they i think they're all going to need some fuel so they must come in now under this course period then they can get to the end so i was going to see all of them in and advanced they're very definitely with the corvettes because they were in several laps later four five minutes later rather than 24 and 8 laps later than 25 so therefore require less fuel which means they'll be standing still a short amount of time yeah good point at gtd uh most of the leaders had made pit stops right before or fairly soon before this caution period but actually no they hadn't had they 14 16 12 23 uh there'd be a bit of a gamble if they stay out there number 96 42 and 28 number 42 with that surprise through penalty did it lose a lap uh and it hasn't got the wave round i think the answer to those questions is is back on the lead laps that's great news for marx's partner uh and he therefore will be on the semester because everybody else he has made his last bits up and served his penalty so that the cars are particularly good shape and gtp then of 96 42 and 28 over the last one that's correct with 53 minutes to go the prototype fields are coming in this will be tight i still think they'll need a wii splash depending on how much yellow we have left the remains of the taliban sport car have gone we're opening the pit and we'll cycle through how much racing do we have left that's a question i can't answer for the pitstop sequence before the pittsburgh sequence we've got a shift for this racing field pit reports and this is interesting because bill riley is playing the strategy two and i'll be three we'll get that moment fuel and tires will leave albuquerque in the 10 continental acura fuel only for the mazda this could be a ploy of brilliance goes out and gets positioned position ahead of living at 12.65 increasing accuracy the zero one of kevin magnussen all those cars you can kill only and then tires for philippe albuquerque but track position is invaluable and lena gage has pulled a blinder well interesting that none of them needed a huge amount of fuel jeremy so you would have been sitting there if you were doing all four tires i have a suspicion that there was only a couple of tires added to some of those dpis will get the definite on that in a wee moment but no michelin tires for the 55 mazda and they've set tinks out uh they've probably taken on the radio before we go green and rile them up and basically send them out on full attack but look at the time on the clock with nearly 50 minutes these cars can do maybe 42 maybe 43 minutes flat out i i this is gonna be amazing if someone gets to the end from here uh i i'm very interested to see we've got drama we've got drama at the end of the and six hours of the glam whatever happens now and we've still to have the gt dear tortoise stops uh as well um jeremy and the gt lemon the gt lemon cars will be fine they can do about 50 minutes but the dpis i'm not sure jeremy i'm really not sure no it just depends how long this course period is quite frankly whether there's any additional cleanup required there uh if it's uh if it doesn't last another 15 minutes then yes we're going to see splashes for the dpi cars um so you know it's definitely it was the right call to come in if this is a long cautionary period then you know they maybe can get to the end from here whereas if you haven't stopped you probably couldn't get to the end so you know if it makes sense there the strategy called to not change tires on the number 55 is that the only one that didn't change that you saw 55 did not change tires the zero one did not change tires and the 60 did not change tires 60 degrees that's very interesting 60 should be beat now because that would require less from anybody as well yeah well well the thing is jeremy it's highly unlikely isn't it that anybody can any of those cars can make it to the end unless we've got another 10 or 15 minutes of full course yellow so everybody's going to have to have a splash so what you've said to thinks there is you've got to burn the fuel and go full reach until i tell you to come in for your final splash and at that point have you built up enough of a gap above everybody else we know that mazda can't be quick we'll talk about that in a moment uh vp racing fuel pit report for the gt c adam fuel and tires for the lexus and the tires that came off of alex's look a little bit more have to say was surprised on that fuel only for the aston martin the heart of racing red light at the end of the day is a smart cookie next out is the number one call another racing lamborghini that car taking fuel and tires as well now admit like goes green third in line is the right motorsport porsche fuel and tires for patrick wong and then fourth was one of the two lexuses i think that was the fourteen yes ahead of the sister card number four a bit further back but the 88 also the great stops of that porsche cat lake jumped up a bunch of places too also this helps the number nine porsche as well which had that stop that shear called where johnny knots the senior pit lane official for insert was making sure that the window net was fastened and given the thumbs up he was happy they lost quite a lot of time there well all right that time custom made a couple positions on track but they're all going to push up again behind the safety card that is a fast car with a fast driver and lawrence vancouver will be set on again on full stud by the team we'll wait until it all shakes out and how quick final wave buys happening now final wave buys happening now so i think we can have something in the region of 43 44 minutes to go that's going to be really interesting for the dpis really invested in the dpis lmp3 bill reilly splitting the car splitting the strategy the 74 riley technology card leading the initial endeavors and the points for robinson they came in and pitted the 91 jerome blink walling stayed out let's see how this one finishes jeremy sure this is going to be utterly absorbing for the last 45 43 whatever it is minutes of the six hours of the glide just what we need to finish off a very busy weekend between great racing but this one edge of the sink stuff all the way to the trigger yeah brilliant this is the only seven change in this race number 55 guys becomes the fifth different leader and uh inside the final what 45 minutes or so now in this race 55 car is out front and that's where that team wants it to be that was a team that won here called their first victory as motorsports here at watkins again two years ago this is the only time it is and we didn't get it last year but because of the pandemic so that's a very very key indeed to uh uh to to get back into the victory but did he start off the season so well with the podium finishes that streak was broken last time out of detroit but they slipped to fourth at the end but this is going to be an absolutely incredible contest contact uh in the line behind the station as to between the number 10 which is the cunningham and the zebra one of kevin madison neither of them giving up they're both in third at the moment and there was definitely a little bit of leaning going on there all handbags at the moment uh adam what do you reckon as they came out the pit lane the cadillac beat the acura out of the pit lane i do remember saying that um i'm a little confused right now well actually i can check that because uh i can have a look at how they came out with the pickle in fact scroll back far enough you keep your eyes on that zero one came out a full second ahead of the curve on the exit uh so we'll just check that from the overhead as well it was it was quite tight but uh it wasn't tight at all why they should be that going on now interestingly the acura has got a head there of magnuson now this could be interesting because if they have to reorder here which they might have to do this might take another lap and then we get down to 40 pins i'll be the worst with those deep between cars jeremy getting the bucks out to take themselves potentially so yeah they definitely did oh what a race to speed uh that was our footage he's rather our fourth intervention from the c8 safety car we've had two hours and three minutes on the doors of great flag racing after the third time of asking saw that lovely weight car she has more news on that the last stop i thought the team's already took that two tires sure what do you have thanks to matt for letting me know the 60 the meyer's increasing accuracy that's been so fast today well they gave bolivia pawn number on the outside tires only so two tires for that car let's see how that strategy plays out can upset the balance of the car it's a it's a good thing to do but far better to put them on one side of the other rather than the front on the back because that really at the start of the run would have said it don't forget they've only been out for nine laps so it's not as if those ties that came off and did an awful lot of work so i i kind of like that call um we see it much more now in uh in sports car racing jeremy that we used to and we're gonna get one more lap we are gonna get one more like it's gonna be 40 minutes i reckon everybody will be okay oh hang on a second now what's going on here i think we're gonna come to the cast coming back for another splash of fuel here jeremy and if they're gonna do that they might as well take tires because there's no further weird bikes so if you're gonna call four rich to the end you might as well take four four new mission attacks small but if you've got him isn't that the case absolutely right yes uh nothing to lose there for those as well in the gt uh corey g says uh wasn't that a passion for caution for position i went to a really racist thing i looked at what i've just happened red lights on drive straight out the pit lane ah just stopped by kobayashi just about got it pulled up somebody screamed radio timmy stop stop stop sorry stop stop stop coming message that will make gtlm fans around the world very happy the order has been given corvette you are allowed please do not hit each other see i told you they say to get it again but they just said it again yeah uh wow well that's an extraordinary error from the uh from the atmospheric sampling and driver entertainment in some respects i also saw some overtaking going on there as well and i i'm not sure if you do that you get to go back and do the split either so no clue what's going on here let's see what and i can't answer the question about the 10 and 001 because there's no doubt in my mind both of the data and on the visuals that kevin magnussen big philly alba kirk out of the pit lane but that's not how they're lined up for the start and magazine might just leave it there of course and if it's a penalty then what will happen there is that car will be taken out of contention because it will have to be a drive-through but not out at all that like duval blew the red light on the exit kobayashi front wheels off the line he hasn't left a bit late i think he's fine uh i can't see this here another lap of caution another lap of caution now figure out that 10-0 he's coming in for a splash of fuel now again let's see if they're just splash you're gonna get held with the red lights so a splash of fuel if you haven't got brand new tires on it stick right here on it surely if you've got the blade oh i'm presuming we're getting that penalty called on the mustang sampling car um but we'll wait to have that official officially confirmed here michael jensen in the 52 and uh is that really stephen thomas in the 11 i thought it was tristan nunez in the 11. both down the pit lane for a splash and dash so both of those lmp speed cars are good to the checkered now uh the prototype class spirit has happened uh we've still got cars coming through so is that why we're still under yellow because the prototype class split wasn't completed because we had cars down the pit lane that's interesting it's an interesting way of prolonging the yellow news for those guys to to to rejoin the back of the pack yeah i think they were resetting it it's now showing the zero one of kevin magnussen ahead of the ten of philippe albert so i think it took that extra lap yeah two exactly two extra laps absolutely agree um harry tinknell is almost in the passenger compartment of the corvette the lights are out the lights are out it's going to be a 37 36 and a half minutes dash for the checkered flag to the checkered flag of the sun and six hours of the glen if you've just joined us now oh my goodness uh your timing is about perfect it has been the hall of the race leading up to this last gap dash how hard could the cars at the front of the field that did not stop for extra fuel how hard can they push there's plenty out there that have got fuel to the end they'll be able to go full rich we know that the 60 has got two new tyres sitting in second position for my shank racing in the acura here comes harry tindall where's your money now those of you in the grandstands get on the edge of your seat because you're gonna be there for the next 37 and a half minutes we're back to great flag racing tignel weaving left and right down the front street to clean up and warm up his michelin sticks gets through turn one immediate challenge for third position off the track from the number 10 philippe alberkirk he won't be allowed to keep that even if he gets it he's made up a position off the track that won't stand the team will might as well tell him to lift off for a moment and let them go back ahead of them the problem is it's so tight there if he does that he might lose a position but like duval it's got a penalty coming anyway in the uh black or dark rear should i say and gold car adam the tears stop plus 64. out of it [Applause] and the 31 wheel and engineering cadillac were both being of positions great restart jeremy shaw from harry tinkle did exactly what he had to do yeah superb uh now though he's got uh they all got definitely all the same fuel there's only what's 35 minutes or so remaining in this race but uh it's not going to be flat out to the end from here i don't think they're going to have to save some fuel so management is going to be important there and the now that has that track position that that generally is key three four wides coming through the traffic at the moment with some of the prototypes that were out of position and making those pit stops very late in the yellow flag period including the number 11 the win or the sports car that one easily spotted with it yellow flashes on the front of the blue doors of the car stephen thomas chris nunes thomas merritt did a good job today bit of dirt thrown up at the exit of turn number nine as everyone is jostling for position further back tickles across the line and has a second a full one-second lead over olly part doesn't sound like a lot but this is not just a drive-through for the number five this is a stop and sixty-second hold for blowing the pit lane light the two corvettes have got a great restart where are the bmws fired in the gt dear tornado traffic further back down through the field in gt tournament bill overland leads across the line for turner motorsport and remember they're cycled to the front because they got their pin stock in as the yellows came out and in second position that was brian sellers going through in the second position there side by side two porsches and the two lexus all disputing position going into the inner loop with 35 minutes to go this gtd battle has really been set alive we worried earlier on what was that thinking about why was i stressed about it we were worrying earlier they were spreading out and now we've got the top four eight ten twelve cars all battling at four position it's the top ten with jeff westfall they went across the line in 10th position in the 39 carbine with perrigan outing the dark rear with green flashes they're all on the lead up in gtd bmw still trying to fight that with bill auburn he's in between the two gt bmws nobody stalled him uh trying to be sure that he's not driving that didn't see them anymore he's still got the pieces he has indeed [Music] 30 odd minutes plus of course where you are in the track if you've just gone through for the second to go you've got another 3.4 miles so add a potential extra lap onto this [Music] perhaps not critical but certainly worrying for the cars that didn't do the extra splash at the front of the field harry tank though setting himself a pace one thirty three four for the top three cars last time around they can't go quicker than that by the way the damage to the left right over the mastered up it's finally so there's no worry about that rattling and causing that car to get the big ball flag and have to be pulled in now it's just not there anymore so there'll be a little less downforce on the left right uh don't tell harry that he just drive around it that's what harry does well this time at 32 9 for the leader 33 flat for body block blah with two new tires dignal on the tires that he has had on for what nine fast laps well they're about seven that's not excuse me before the other flag two corvettes at the moment tandy versus garcia being told race don't crash yeah we've heard that one before actually we've seen it battles dear tournament we've seen grit last battles uh last half an hour last night between corvettes nick tandy his daughter ava is seven years old today i'm sure she's been allowed to steal a little bit later down in bedfordshire in the center of england just after nine o'clock over there and dad doing a great job at the moment at the head of the field been a good time for nick sandy and duty arjuna tandy racing team principal there they knocked up their 100th win in competition recently in their 15-year history and i'm sure the team who affectionately called nick and i mean effectively just calling boss they'll be tuned in as well hi fellas congrats on everything you've achieved and the boss is doing a good job at the moment tracked down to your gossip before the yellow came out got ahead pulled out two and a half seconds lost it but he's there again now at the brook of the failed half an hour to go magnificent stuff don't forget come on your point of rising observations questions rats whatever hashtag michelin paused uh mitchell prt hashtag prt and himself please and we'll have a chat about that in the post for sure gotta see it fits to the left-hand side of turn 10 got a real overtaking spot there is checking at 1.4 the bmw into the inner loop that was a bald move by garcia and the bmw a huge speed with the double tour on the back straight into the inner loop my goodness what a pass that was garcia takes off now is there a problem for tandy or did he just not get the run out of the top of the hill and turn forward he's under he's going to be under pressure any second now by conor felipe top four within three seconds in gt lamont garcia lights the afterburners heads for hall with 29 minutes to go corvette bmw number 24 corvette number four bmw number 25 324 425 that's how it stands at the moment in gt level what a move by the king of spade tony or garcia jeremy yeah that was a good move wasn't it uh uh on uh for for the lead uh of this race and uh that's uh it was super tight i mean they were they weren't far away from being three of breath there was a really bold move also by the bmw john edwards really got got his uh got his elbows out there to move up into second place beautiful beautiful reading of the situation by john edwards got in behind the yellow corvette and use that tool from that car major issues being reported adam from the corvette what do you have all in the rear of that car so there is trouble afoot for nick tandy 28 minutes to go let's see if the car can make it to the end of the race is that just attempts not up on the car the car not sticking that would be certainly cause for concern with this much time left in the attacking gt d bill opelin has a two second lead from brian sellers paul miller racing overnight engine change in the lamborghini number one and then four seconds back to marcus paul tala for nte sport they're coming back from a penalties of course for that car wheel rotation in the pit lane then ross good another good run for heart of racing take the mastermind he's right there as the leaders racing line up into turn seven and they tore the boat magnificent skill that's the battles continue down towards 37. this is the second place we're talking about here and the mazda is putting a bit of room it took the 2.7 seconds all of a sudden as part and madison scratch between themselves not too far back for the albuquerque does the same thing three turned on and up the hill at turn two what in marvelous run this is me at the front of the field nearly three seconds for take them down now we'll be talking to lead again on the pit wall the fuel number is what's gonna i think is what's gonna count right now another three seconds he's got that three seconds so now how can they get the 25 26 minutes to the end magnificent still turner the fall of the battle they've had down through the years of this season as well uh jeremy they can't honestly they planned this strategy but they were in the piece of the right side and the right path to deliver on that he's built auburn and he's got the lead in gtd right now yeah and uh he's gonna leave two half seconds over the second place which is blind he's going greyhound from the box potter and the rest of that [Music] next couple of corners which was critical to allowing him to gain a little bit of breathing space now over that to pursuing oliver olivier accurate uh [Music] along with the endurance that driver added above jonathan burrito there was no doubt about the pace of that car they've taken the tracks when the yellow flag came out but just on the hour to go and they've turned that into an opportunity can they stretch the fuel to the end now hashtag michelin prt at himself what a cracker this is me and we're back with the short form of the insider sports car championship that race live on friday also michigan pilot challenge and im's a prototype challenge all on friday with the practicing qualifying on thursday if you're gonna come to the glen in person tracking three series short weekends the two corvettes then split down by the bmw tandy under pressure from conor felipe might not even be on the porgium here has the fastest lap of the race in that car that's what might be all he gets the leader in the 55 harry tigner on the back straight heading down towards the inner loop and he's got the battling gt tier tournament check that gt le man cars in front of him almost to touch a few performances ago at the bottom of the hill set one of the united auto sport cars either the two or the 22 and it looks like colin brown is trying to get to the head of the p3 he split the two rileys which were looking fairly comfortable passes uh sorry pasture up or blinker ball and it's philippe fraga now just two seconds ahead of him jeremy that's exactly right john and uh jerome blechmann he led at the restart the flag as a guy in the movie not only that draga set a new fastest lap of the race in lmp3 just uh two or three laps ago as well yeah just a couple of laps ago that one is 70 and 141.1 it's 10 quicker only than colin brown he's got a two second advantage so it's been a great performance once again from felipe fraga and colin brando he's going to try and track down he possibly can ian's just tweeted at him he says look this is lovely it's a very cool video game advert but can we get back to the release there are more than a few elements of that don't disagree [Music] porsche sitting in behind the porsche of right motorsports big time tandy maximum defense at the moment through turn one and the 25 bmw of connor fellaini had to go outside the track limits there to try and get round taddy up to the top of the hill at turn four now can he get out the turn four better than he did when he was leading mean time albuquerque right with magnuson durrani closing down on them that's the third spot on the podium there magderson in the 0-1 cadillac albuquerque in the 10. cunningham an altar acura and durrani in the red white whale in engineering number 31 they're all scrambling scrapping for the left last step of the box [Music] meantime the leader now here's interesting the leader number 55 coming to like davao who's had the stop and hold for 60 seconds [Music] and is there a final twist because that is a quick car and harry will not wonder to hold him up like default sitting in seventh just on the end of the lead lap we are speculating here that the 55 car can go to the end the mazda [Music] [Applause] uh adam that could update us on that from the vp racing field panic report and the multimatic mazda team pits uh just checking in with the drivers now but the last i heard they were good to the end of this one so uh chelsea and isabelle your boys should be okay on this one oh they'll be biting their fingernails in the south of england at the moment 20 minutes to go third spot on the gt lemon podium still up for grab lead in lmp three still off for grabs with colin brown now within a second and a half gt dear tournament well three and a half seconds back this sellers eight seconds to paul tala but paul tala's got ross good on his gearbox at the moment uh for third place paul teller in the nte sport audi and the heart of racing team looking for another podium finish and at the front of the field the gap is a second and a half between first and second then three seconds back to third and then three cars within a second for third place magnusson for cadillac chip ganassi connie mcconaughey minolta engineering jeremy this is what you call a grandstand finish this is what you call an imsa finish yeah this is brilliant stuff and the gap between first and second uh it was down to just just over a second is that back up to you just less than once just less than two seconds as they cross the line there with 18 minutes remaining so we've still got been about 10 laps left in this race there's still plenty of time here and you know it's not they could probably get to to the finish we've seen these guys get really good fuel consumption particularly a bit or higher wasn't it yeah they stretched out uh their fuel loads quite substantially but this is a much faster track than mid ohio it's not quite so easy to do here so it's it certainly isn't over yet but and it's not easy to do if you've been pressed by somebody who has no fuel issues and you're trying to fight through traffic so you're on and off the throttle all of that sort of thing you're just burning fuel at that point lift and cost is not in the lexicon of these drivers right now there's a win up for grabs there's a win in the championship there's a win in the michigan endurance cup there is a win in the seal and six hours of the glen what are the classic sports car races in north america and the world fuel saving is not going to happen here they will run these cars until this splunk and we might see that we actually might see that here at this kind of pace a 33-1 for the leader last time a 33-8 for the second place car tick no lead stretches out to over two seconds now the slide rules are right the calculators are right but at this point he's got traffic [Music] that big long train of gt cars he's now going to get passed cleanly he's going to catch some as it goes up through the through the s's it's going to catch him actually it's a pretty good place i think it should be quick enough through the esses so you can just blast past somebody a couple couple of on the outside of the final part of this it's now onto the the straight towards mazda with the smallest engine both in cylinders and capacity of any of the dpis traditionally it's not been great going through traffic because it loses momentum and then has to build up again but ting they'll don't tell harry that he's carving through this i know he's doing one of those challenges on gran turismo where you've got the past 64 cars in four laps to the left-hand side of the heart of racing aston martin to the right hand side of the ate audi r8 lms he's just totally liza forecasting and the lead is still 2.6 seconds jeremy with the traffic now behind him and ollie platt now having to do the same thing awesome driving place picked his way through as well he'll be on the outside it's turn nine going past the nte sport audi that was paul tala giving him a little bit of room then this battle hang on the ball for third's gonna go through that as well i'd almost pick up that here comes the zero one right in there and oh durrani's through durrani's got through on the zero one so durrani leads the zero one so dorado up to fourth magnuson down to fifth philippe albuquerque down third so a huge change around him that battle through the traffic albert kirk now third in the number 10 cunningham and older but durrani is trying to get back on terms with him he's got past magnuson as well so that's now the battle for fourth and fifth going down to the inner loop durrani defends to the inside magnuson goes to the left can't get that one done and ahead of them is philippe alba kirk all three of them in the outer loop together oh my goodness take a breath with 14 call it 15 minutes to go two and a half seconds at the front of the field for tinknall nothing at all between third fourth and fifth albuquerque durrani and magnuson in lmp2 it's five seconds between nunes and michael jensen jensen took a second out of nunes last time around though in that battle and they are on the same lap gt lemon it is garcia for corvette number three the yellow car by three and a half seconds tandy still holding on somehow to third place by the skin of his teeth or if you prefer a tenth of a second felipe fraga has got colin brown three tenths of a second behind him for the lead in lmp to lmp3 and bill auberlin has only got has got four seconds on paul miller racing's brian sellers but adam that story might not be over in gt tier 2 at 1 43 in the afternoon it was the final warning issued for the number 96 trigger motorsport bmw i commented on that because aidan reed was behind the wall at the time race control has just said over the im system hey turner check your private ims could this be turner motorsport getting a drive-through penalty for excessive abuse of track limits we've got 13 and a half minutes to go in this race and it is so important that the logarithm does not go off at turn one turn eight or turn ten and with faster cars lapping it's harder to keep it on the line and now we've got four cars in the mix jeremy shaw for third place uh behind fellate alba kirk the number 10 holds it at the moment but then pretty much everybody else other than like daval is in with a shout out yeah that's right i think okay yeah camille kobayashi got a little bit of traffic in the early part slaps a drop back just a little bit but he's still not far out of it and we know how much of a charger kobe actually can be so he's uh so many sites here that the other uh potentially they thought the helipodium finished sebring unfortunately simon pagano was well a minute i think over the drive limit time he drove for four hours and one minute out of uh six consecutive hours during that race the limit was four hours so they've got penalties put to the whole back of the pack which is very unfortunate for that team but it's been a good strong run here in the later stages 12 minutes to go and phillipe albuquerque for a moment looks back and there must have been a moment there as he was looking these mirrors that he thought he'd dropped people to ronnie it's not the case he's still in there gt that's still very much up for grabs the riley number 74 goes through the battle with uh fafcar laurence van tor up into eighth position he's got pat long ahead of him then jack hawks with then daniel morad that's up to fifth position and they're all only a second and a half apart not between them the whole lot uh right up to daniel morat and marcus paul teller in fourth position paul tala two and a half seconds away from third ross good now seven seconds away from second place brian sellers who's three and a half from bill auberlin and last time around ruskin did the fastest lap of the race for that heart erasing aston martin and at the lmp3 head of the fields still colin braun right with colin brown right with felipe fraga to drop the weir to eight tenths of a second it was a tenth and a half the last time i looked so there is a little bit of fight in philippe fraga he's picked up his piss just a tiny bit to bran paula brown is fighting back so all all classes have a portion position at least still up for grabs down towards turn number eight and colin is right with him there's one car to the ncaa sport audi again going through turn eight fantastic drive here comes the battle for the lead in lmp3 towards the end of the track the blue and orange number 74 on the front straight behind that it's the white and tangerine car across the line 1.1 seconds between them this time lmp2 right together now as well this is ridiculous i need two heads and more hellos here for brebel brooks would you like to come and commentate we have battles for major positions in all of the classes at the moment a second and a half miguel jensen as i suggested he might be jeremy is catching tristan nunes and he's still got nine and a half minutes to go we've got time here to have proper finishes in all five classes yeah we certainly have it's been a tremendous murder race i think pretty much the start finishing olivier now he's certainly on the move his last two laps quicker than harry [Music] i've just taken a deep breath because i might not get another one nine minutes to go himself radio and tv together live across the us on xm two or two if you're driving at the moment and listening on xm find somewhere to pull over because this could get very very loud and exciting indeed in the last few minutes with major positions podium positions championship implications in all five classes still to be decided fractions of a second between cars that are battling for the win in category five different classes on the circuit at the same time and we've got five proper races at the front of the field the lead that harry tignall has amassed now has dissipated down to one second as pla with newer tires on one side of the car let's not forget is beginning to plan and scheme and build his plan to get back to that lead car platt has not got back to like dubai so that hasn't been a factor in trying to put that car under pressure what he has got in front of him now is a battle for third place in gt le man he goes past the bmw of connor de felipe on the front still the red white black car he'll get down the inside of nick tandy in the third one but plot will not and so there's a breathing space again for harry tignall plot has to go through in turn two and does so that gap that was six tenths across the line jeremy eases out just a little bit tingle had to make that move that turned two and did that's giving him a tiny bit of space this is just tremendous i think i think they might catch uh look at the lap times there was a second and a half quicker last time around we thought we had a bit of traffic there for it but against the birthday foreign could be a factor for the leaders here with still seven minutes remaining that's another you know that's four laps and they're only about got three seconds less than that i think behind the number five car to put a little lap down he's not going to want to go on that down of course no he's gonna make it easy for anybody no uh and you know he's got a championship to run as well but there's no cadillac in the fight here there's no team car there's no manufacturer allegiance here so we'll keep an eye on that but tignal at the moment with six minutes left how can he have there been at mazda motor sport and multimatic what are the numbers seeing because now it's down a fuel i reckon fuel and tires there's no doubt that tingle has the performance there's no doubt that they multimatic chassis and the master engine has the performance now through to another fast gt le car and again he goes through nice spot on the track to get through there hurry yeah and a great driver there by john edwards uh he saw what was happening there in his mirrors he made sure he left plenty of room for that prototype to go through behind the other one coming on to the uh longest straight here you're right he's caught default the leader of the race and in dpi has caught default players has to go a little bit wide around the vasa sullivan the lexus and now three wide into turn six but tignal can't afford to be conservative here he's on the ragged edge place held up again a little bit behind the leading gt levonka of antonio garcia there's a traffic jam in front of him down towards turn seven he's got to get the car the right hand side deval actually might be helping him out here flashing his lights he's waking up the drivers in their own personal battles from third fourth and fifth on down in gt le mans that there's faster cars coming and then the blue flags showing there's a plastic car behind it all just for the battles that they're in so duval working a bit like the snowplow at the moment and just giving harry the opportunity to pick and choose he spots there now the question is what happens when he gets right on the tail of duval well devals squeaked out the pit and across the line it's 2.2 seconds with four and a half minutes to go that traffic that particular little scheme of traffic that's got the way of mazda jeremy it has but as you say it's still falling after this maybe so that's going to be another three laps isn't it so cool crikey this is uh fantastic stuff just tremendous racing here and uh olivia fly here he's a little bit unlucky there i think where he puts some of the the worst of that traffic but there's still plenty of time for the same thing to happen the other way around [Music] four minutes to go still battles going on oliver ascii by the way it's just put the fastest fastest lmp three lapping of anybody at 141 6. oh my goodness so much going on lmp2 just a new day it's just steady the ship a little bit miguel jensen's dropped to all of one and a half seconds behind there's holly clark pixie square through this traffic it's just a 1.8 second gap what do we say in endurance racing multi-class racing traffic given traffic taken away you can gain a second lose a second it can happen in a blink of an eye somebody doesn't see you your back wheels you're off the circuit look at the wrong pull another 24 vf four seconds the margin between them that's the first and second garcia in the yellow card corvette and jonathan edwards in the black bmw it's their goal on to the start finish line [Music] and they're in gt team traffic as well the two porsches the back machine and right there as well on the front of the field bill auberlin desperately wanting to steer within the white light he's halting onto that four second lead from filter from brian sellers in second place 96 blue and yellow bmw from red white black number one lamborghini from aston martin vantage ross good in third position those are the biggest gaps in the top three four seconds and seven seconds i don't think there's four seconds in seven seconds between any of the other top threes to be honest quite extraordinary at the moment two tenths of a second john edwards down behind tony mccarthy and gt lemon colin brown has dropped a little bit 1.7 seconds as felipe fraga has maybe tied this to perfection with his michelin tires what performance has anybody got left now mazda lead by under a second coming round with 140 to go it will not be white flag this time around or will it no it's not it is it's white flag but only just by about a couple of seconds 3.4 miles to go wow that was right on the edge the white flag was held down the countdown clock they're doing 30 ones the best that they've done is a 31 they're doing 33s at the moment it was about one minute 28 woman at 29. so absolutely correct showing of the right the white flag [Music] three miles now traffic plus still trying to get on terms tingle still hasn't got past like divali's right with them now he's gonna have to make a decision here goes around the outside sweeps around the outside and then to the inside of one of the p3 cars that's the riley i think as they go through the outer loop and into turn six like default that was very fair driving by like duvall steered to the inside with the leaders coming and he'll pull to the right again coming out of the two of the boots on this the final lap under two miles now to go like default chapel really really fair driving they'll be disappointed blew the pit lane red light that took him out of potentially being in this battle because he had more fuel and would have been able to turn it up to the max the last time we were at the ceiling six hours of decline it started what we called the summer of mazda we're in the autumn of mazda's career in dpi but they win again at the glen harry tindall takes it to the line and off right at the end for the zero one kevin magnussen out of fifth position it's tingle pla alba kirk so mazda acura acura bill power in gt lamont excuse me gt dear the bmw win gt d'atorna from paul miller racing who replaced an engine overnight to take seconds racing team on the podium again in third with ross bringing that one home corvette and antonio garcia get the checkered flag by just eight tenths of a second ahead of edwards and conor felipe has gone through into third so nick tandy couldn't hold on to the corvette and in lmp2 by a second tristan nunes brings the win all to sport number 11 car home what a weekend it's been for them with all kinds of spins and issues for michael jensen and the rest of the pr one matthew supporter sports number 52. guy smith in third for united order sports yeah magnuson doesn't finish so it will be kobayashi and the i like cadillac in fourth durrani and the rest of the whaling engineering team in fifth position so froggett held off brown in lmp three riley core riley uh in the top three there and mazda have won mazda have won i'll see it again mazda have won speed consistency reliability and brilliant pitch strategy they took track position at the last pit stop not tires and left it to harry tignall to convert all the hard work that had been done beforehand by the team by jonathan bomarito and by ollie jarvis the 55 master wins the sealants six hours of the glen jeremy short i think it's without a it's run out of fuel it's run out of fuel on the slowing down lap saw has saw has people to ronnie oh my goodness how close was it that's how close it was tinks is out of fuel on the slowing down lap if he's got his team uh i wonder if he's got his form with him can we give him a ring [Music] uh we've got also a drive through for camwin kobayashi i think that will take him out of of fourth place i wondered whether that was uh why magson ended up in the gravel trap because they were battling for that position on the previous lap yeah uh magnuson had been told to hit a fuel number uh and he was taken out to turn eight uh the zero one car was struggling and the chip ganassi car was struggling on fuel uh and magnussen or hit from behind by kobayashi so they'll both drop down people durrani and wheel and engineering then will move up to fourth position so even after the end of the race we've still got drama kevin magnussen with all the good magnus and family hair comes from his mother's chains he told me on wednesday harry tignell has never been happier out of fuel on a racetrack sitting on the side of the car punching the air with delight and waiting to be picked up special care out of the car helmet already off unhappy i'm sure now might get back fifth position it depends what penalty they assess to kobayashi it was a drive through [Music] and after the elation of victory and the realization harry tinknell taking deep breaths sitting on the side pod of the victorious number 55 just breathing it in the last time we'll see this car in the six hours here the mazda edemitsu program coming to an end at the end of this season and is this to be a second summer of mazda has tinks is heading to the side of the track it was that close jeremy it was that close it was brilliant wasn't it nice bottle of water by one of the spectators brought to the edge of the track so that harry tinkle thought it was one of the corner workers yeah absolutely brilliant stuff so that tinx can get a breath he's left absolutely nothing from him or the car jeremy out there the car got back to turn i think that's turned seven isn't it but it got back to and look and you know if if they had to do that extra lap i mean you talked about it when they took the took the white flag three seconds yeah three seconds exactly and he wouldn't have got home that's an excellent point excellent point uh coming up michelin post race tech we'll stay with our colleagues on tv and on the pa for a moment it's going to be a while before that car gets back and we can start the podium festivities so stay with us here at the track on the pa and indeed uh if you're watching on television jeremy's doing some quick calculations and we'll try to get the a couple of uh drivers to speak to us if not we'll get them in michelin post race tech hashtag michelin prt what a race what a race let's uh recap the results for you then unofficial at this point and with penalties to be applied certainly uh in the dpi category mazda motorsport in the 55 car wins it by a second at the end from my shank racing with kerb again in the number 60 acura in second place and philippe alberkirk brought the cunningham and although accurate dpi home in third the number 10 car next across the line uh people durrani that was the wheeling engineer ring racing cadillac number 31 then it was the number 48 ally cadillac racing but that car has been assessed a penalty on the last lap so i i don't think it will stay in that position kevin magnussen ended up in the gravel but was the last car on actually didn't complete the 200th lap but it was now so where was like default he is scored in seventh position he was just ahead of the leaders no he was behind the leader since they went across the line yeah so he was a lap back as well yeah magnus had already completed that 199 so that's why max is ahead of juvenile and kobayashi we'll have to see what that penalty is for uh kobe issue whether he falls just behind magson or whether it's a steeper penalty than that uh which would drop him behind eval as well yeah that'll have a points uh a points implication as well lmp2 no uh no doubt what happened there window to sport and the 11 car have taken it by just a second from pr1 matthews and motorsports in the 52. uh then it was uh the united auto sports origin uh three laps further back in in the 22 car in gt le man corvette two bmws and corvette with the three 24 and 25 on the podium nick tandy after the final stop uh i had 40 sweet to the lead before that final stop but the back end of the car not playing ball for nick in that uh run to the chequered flag and then p3 another second and a half separating the top two riley motorsports number 74 ahead of court auto sports 54 and we have uh the third place riley motorsports number 91 car all lease years of course and then gtd turner motorsport will turner good but today lucky but you know what there's no asterisk well done bill oberlin still had to bring it home and does that and wins for bmw and for turner motorsport in the 96 and the rest of the team what a turnaround for the lamborghini hurricane team paul miller racing had to change an engine overnight last night into this morning and the number one car comes through on the podium in seconds with aston martin vantage in the shape of the hat the heart of racing team in third place for the number 23 another podium finished jeremy uh give me what you can with points oh yeah where do you want me to start gtd at least at least yeah we'll leave these dpi in case i see something change yeah exactly right in the gtd then uh the well the the points leaders won the race so uh bill bill oberlin and robbie foley will extend their lead it was only 11 points over remedy anderson and uh and roscoe and it'll now be extended by 50 because the aston martin finished in third place such as the point system nowadays that's a 50 point gap so uh that's uh so that's that's the situation there in third position now will be i think brian sellers and madison snow in gtd and gtlm again the uh points leaders won the race antonio garcia and jordan taylor uh jessie crone john edwards in august so far first will move up to second position in the points the head of conor d philippi and the the other bmw 966 so 1001 to 966 tommy miller nick tandy back and forth on 9 59. [Music] and mp3 again the the top three points scorers uh finished in one two three position so guard robinson will extend his lead in the championship over jonathan bennett and colin brown it was 20 points and 50 points uh jim cox and dylan murray they finished in third place so we'll fall another 20 points back in llp2 the win no the the points leaders ben keating michael jensen scholar halfway they'll have 734 points stephen thomas tristan nunes and thomas merrill will jump from fourth to second on 700. so 34 points behind uh john ferrano and gabby aubry will be in third place overall the uh ricky taylor and philip barbecue they will still lead but the gap that was what's 79 or whatever will be difficult i can't figure these numbers out they're too big but it's now just a 31 point margin between taylor and albuquerque over jarvis and harry tinkle oh brilliant stuff uh shay can you give me a very quick michelin endurance points update uh before we head to the michelin post race tech show uh yes in terms of the prototype it is championship extension for the number 10. they have 33 ahead of the 55 mazda which vaults themselves up into contention with 30 points in p2 it is still the eight tower motorsport car in contention but the 52 now has a one point advantage over them lmp3 i'm pretty sure robinson and scott andrews have it wrapped up they have 41 points ahead of oliver askew on 33 so all they need to do is start the three segment we'll start the race for petit le mans and the three segments should have that done it is the three car not only leading the championship but leading the endurance cup they have 34 points ahead of their teammates on 32 and in gtd it's basically just as close as when we came in the 16 right motorsport porsche is leading 28 points it's a tie for second place faf motorsport and paul miller racing on 27 and then back in third place morrow engel with 26. uh perhaps an irony that a multimatic driver had to be brought back to victory circle by a porsche now they'll be building their dpis shortly for rule out at the end of 2021 we won't see them in competition until the uh until 2023 season uh let's uh head down to the media scrum uh sure adam who do you have in this vp racing uh report down there ryan smith is my hero because thanks to him we should be able to talk to antonio garcia and first jordan taylor jordan 21 wins in the insta weathertech sports car championship now you are the leader in that but the first win in watkins glen sail in six hours how does this feel yeah it's awesome i mean yeah you nailed it i think this is the one of the only tracks that we haven't won here on the empty calendar i think lime rock might be another one i don't know if i've won there uh maybe a couple of polls but yeah watkins gun was always a big one the six hour especially we finished second here back in 2011 um with otto haas where we probably could have won the championship with that win so it's been a long time coming but it's great to be back here with corvo racing the first time here with the c8r and with no testing and to come out here and you know win the race and have a possible one-two uh just an unfortunate event for the four at the end there but uh yeah i can't be prouder of the whole team a long hot race you leave with both championship leads that's gotta make the uh what four days off even sweeter yeah it definitely makes it nicer it's good to have a couple days to rest on it you know have the guys go through the data and see where we can improve for next week but uh it's gonna be another fight next week and we'll try to maximize the points again hey jordan it's handoff in the hagerty global broadcast center uh well done fantastic stuff uh that seemed a bit difficult at times to get into the rhythm of that race with uh with a couple of safety cars at inopportune moments yeah it was definitely an odd race especially with how you know the lmp3 cycle to the front of the gt packs every time and then we kind of have to drive through that and then you saw at the end with a couple laps to go how we caught you know a big gtd pack mixed with lmp3s and it makes in the the prototypes and the gtlms coming through and it was it was mayhem so uh it was crazy but at the same time that's part of him so that's what makes this series great that's what makes sports car racing amazing and thankfully antonio you know kept his head cool and and brought it home we heard there was a problem at the the rear of uh of tandy's car at the end do you know anything more specific from that and were were you worried it might affect you yeah i mean we only heard what he was saying i don't think any anything was seen on the data um but the guys will go through the car we've got a couple days off now to have a look at it um the car is still relatively new so this is you know good testing to get these endurance races under our belt uh before we up head overseas yeah good point uh lemon in august of course this year congratulations to you and the rest of the team that was a bit close for comfort at the end with us those german cars right up your tailpipes uh don't celebrate
