nirvana it's the WeatherTech Raceway at Laguna Seca good afternoon everybody and it is just into the afternoon as the cars are ruling 11 corners that will test the mettle of every single driver engineer team and particularly the Michelin tire engineers this afternoon hello there I'm John hind off trying to be sure and Adam are the insert rid your team alongside me as we break together insert TV and its original word right at the top of the short for our great friend and colleague Brian Hill who can't be with us this weekend and he's fighting some health battles Brian you much missed we anniversary season for insert Adam what we have got this weekend is the final of the Michelin Sprint Cup in GT Daytona and it's perfectly poised one separates Zachary rubbish on and Trenton and Maria front Parker so the championship leaders in GCD for the whole season long championship are actually trailing in the sprint championship they have to finish one place better than that number nine five Porsche in order to secure the Sprint championship but they also have that season-long battle that they can knock out today to if they leave with more than 35 points of an advantage so Myers shank racing going to be earning their money today in terms of the strategist keeping track of just where that line is and for Zachary rubbish on a faff well they're all in they want the Sprint Cup Jeremy as far as the @jt Lomond bottle goes Porsha Albert wrapped of the teams championship we heard an ambition of countdown degree just how competitive it is between the two sets of drivers there with Nick Tandy and Patrick Bailey at the number nine eleven with a little ground to make up on their team bits yes indeed that they came in here separated by just 11 points so that certainly is possible to overcome that in the other classes too in lmp2 with just five points between Matt McMurray and Cameron castles and saving the same challenges with PR and Mathis and most sports and performance techno sports so that's all to play for and you know that GTD overall season championship yes if they if the number 86 team leaves with a 35-point advisers they wouldn't need even need to go to Patil anymore but with the fact that the points play all the way down and is desertin going to be 15 16 cars at at petit Lamar they don't even need to have a 35-point any lot less less than that going here so really they're just gotta have a a good solid run here and whether they finish they gonna be pretty much unbeatable so it's been a great season for that buyer shank racing we've clear back Iranian team and GTD and as far as DP is concerned the front of the field the front will knock out why Acura Team Penske at they're chasing a championship as well but they've got some competition they do because that 31 will and engineering Cadillac that want the championship last year with Felipe Nasr they're still in the hunt they are not yet out of reach of that championship well Elio here not out of it either they're a bit further back and so er pranker in Jordan they're still in it too and hang on a second five cards in the field actually still have a really good shot at the prototype championship assuming not all goes according to plan for Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron and it has gone according to plan they've been on the podium every single race this year since Sebring that is a very long streak that they have to keep going particularly considering the year ago they were on the podium here odds are in their favor Thank You Jeremy Shaw alongside mate John Hanke dog out of our eyes and there's a good pack up side-by-side great flag is in the air car passing turn the line they go underneath the Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca bridge at the two Acuras have broken away at the front of the field that they drop in water - maybe a little bit wide one of the Masters coming up through the inside that'll be the 77 of Tristan Nunez and this side-by-side contact there Nunez for a moment made up a couple of positions with that Hana drop back outfit back behind and John Taylor Utley very glossy black number 10 Cadillac that's right in the mix there wow this looks like that five laps great for Scott Card's not the very top of prototype racing in episode that was a forceful start and here's the 77 master having lost a few positions now having a big lead battle blue turn five of the inside of the lease at deeply I have John Bennett water start to the race and Jeremy that would have been a few hearts in mouths there the Technium master then we've got three in the world coming in here almost lost one of the bullets in that gun before we got started yeah Christina was like a catalyst to escape that it was I know Felipe Nasr on the grass has really lost a couple of phases right right a cape on back again though so yeah as a dramatic start straight I think if we're expanding around there that's the good news and for the master there John's a palm reader comes into this race third in the points and not out of it by any means no indeed and we've seen this place throw up very very odd things in the past remember last year we didn't even get one of the championship contenders to the great flag well at least that hasn't happened this year Montoya has put in the fastest lap in of the race but that's off the green flag so let's not worry about that right now 2040 minutes was what we started with the two Acuras are being in there beat for freedom through turn four again and they're brilliant aware got good half a second call on a second now back to third place that's John Taylor settling in that it's the 55 master of Jonathan Bomarito who's in fourth position after all the hardship Rajee of the first lap in GT Lamar BMW have held the top position coming from Paul with the black number 24 car in the hands of the SE chrome Ford GT and second Dirk bula the 66 that's a red white blue car in the 2016 come on winning livery and in third position the second of the BMWs top lock twist right number 25 GTT Corey Louis lead from Paul position the top of the corkscrew on the first lap side by side almost contact JDC Miller car that was certain time a trimmer in the 84 car grooming him in a pin I think with John Bell in there but no harm no foul John I think just had to go off the track for the moment one minute of 17.3 8 3 is our first flying lap cars full of fuel that's very quickly adidas their Thunder past us and now everybody on the pit wall I think to bring a slightly bigger sigh of relief at start maybe breathing eat normal where rather than party or holding their breath it was a bit like that it was it was very very tight out there and a good silent utd by the way by by Cooper McNeill who's found his way past a Bella racing last year's Champion's Trent hitman in the 86 championship contending Acura in second then Kevin McNeil in that 63 car the white Ferrari that Jeremy was bench dick there Zachery rubbish odds only half a second further back in the fat Porsche and there's a man who needs points for the Sprint championship as well Kim in to the Michelin spring Cup standings with the specialist the Sprint Cup standings just a point ahead of his nearest rivals who are in that number 86 car so at the moment the championship is going to Trent Hinman and his team the number 86 MSR Acura that's outside it is it's a simple one for us we don't need to do much arithmetic which is probably just as well it was a dinner play on the Friday afternoon but I was its killer guess what I wasn't there that much so basically whichever of the 86 and the nine finishes higher up the GT Daytona standings they will win the Michelin Sprint Cup the inaugural Michelin Sprint Cup pea in 29th year for the drivers that is not for the team Noah stack those will say mr. one the races and the recent Zachary is leading the points right now it's because he did that brace it a Detroit with the park place car and finished on the podium so that gave him the points that means he comes in here with a one-point edge over in the overall championship leaders that's one something they want to continue cracking pair setting at the front of the field as the GT delay that disappears off the top of the corkscrew it's the two Acuras they were blazing a trail at the front of the field Ricky Taylor won bin at 16.7 3 award at last time around terms of the risk that's the new one 117 what 69 reverse set last year but I color brown in the Oregon Gibson 0-7 saw already on the third flying lap of the race we have a now the battle in GT t the street cars and a street fight although we're on a road circuit number 86 of Trent hitman is climbing up from turn six towards the highest part of the circuit here and he's got Cooper McNeill and the Porsche of Zachary Robichaud Acura Ferrari Porsche Aswad but yep W sitting in behind that as and that would be Robbie for Lee in the number 96 the liqui moly white red and blue car behind that the bright orange and green McLaren a marked Club in the hips of honoring Grand Prix powered by McLaren cars so that car doing really well had a fabulous lap going in qualifying yesterday but a red flag came out but couldn't quite get that when we went back to great they tied it GT Limoges coming out of turn but before it's still the pmw Alessi club for poor lady mentor full of a Ford 66 their top lock twist the 25 BMW then it's a large factor in the paddock list of the two Porsches his teammate his damaged six position behind the forward of Ryan Briscoe that's the 67 car they blew a red car and he's got yang Magnussen right on his tail pipes at the moment as their head out onto another lap entrant had been their backup in the second place and he's got back ahead of Cooper McNeill and the last couple of laps so the champion leader in second place right now and that faff car is to position behind him so the plaid Porsche needs to get ahead Lautrec Kidman and Mario Farber Co he was gonna very short he's going to win that terse WeatherTech Sprint Cup championship we are a new fastest lap on previous lap actually new lap record I woke up one more time the second-place car but this lack a little bit quicker quite good that back but another fast lap by the two leaders and they're extending their lead now already by three or four tenths of a second per lap over Jordan Taylor in third place I should have given you fair warning if this Jeremy but East era scenario in the Michelin Sprint Cup in GTD well we can get an absolute tie because there's only one point between the drivers at the moment and we must go down far enough where there's only one point but it's I may not presume we got the wins after that yeah well and Zachary has two wins right well you know so even if it's the tie down points it would go to Zach indeed right okay so that is the one scenario where the 86 car could finish ahead but if they were far enough down the field just to have a one point spread between the two positions then it would go to the driver of the number nine Porsche is that one place I ask that now yes so that we weren't scrambling for that because scriptwriters here that tend to just want to keep us on our toes I jest of course but live sport particularly this summer has been extraordinary and throwing up the unexpected and the miraculous in some cases already 10 minutes have elapsed let's take a look at the Cadillac in race summary and the update tells us that the two Acuras number seven of Ricky teal and number six of juan Montoya a 1.3 seconds apart Jordan Taylor is the best of the Cadillacs in third position as he heads over the top and falls off the edge of the world at the corkscrew now diving down under the WeatherTech bridge third position but already some three seconds away from the back of the two white and orange accurate in lmp2 it's the 52 don't kill it ahead of Cameron castles by nearly six seconds there so they've had a really good start 52 from 38 BMW Paul sitting car in GT LeMond leads the Ford GT of dirt mullet but only by half a second two seconds further Buckley's team here at the 25 white BMW then the first of the Porsches with Lawrence van sir at the world GT dear torna Corey Lewis from poor position leading a cracking battle with Trent hitman in second in the pick a black hole or nation number 86 Acura NSX gt3 then it's the black and white Ferrari Cooper McNeill a 63 WeatherTech car in third I'm not talking about the gaps here because there's no need to they're actually tied together with a very short punching string at the moment as they come out of turn number five going up the hill was a little challenge of the inside goodbye the Ferrari as the leader is beginning to lap that bottle and that leader is Ricky tail that goes up the hill now that she can't lock in risk updates Cadillac V Series real drivers never take it off siding through the traffic regulators because you know that's what you realize Jeremy's that you tell quick please put the tape sharper to the downforce corners we're talking about race tubes Acura NSX Ferrari Porsche these are proper sports cars and they look like they were tied to a tree that yeah and heads-up driving if I trip him and he saw the thank you Pence is coming on the inside let that go before he turned into the corner was able to maintain his position as well a couple of slight change another five car of the Philip albuquerque's managed to get past Johnson for Murray today and for fourth position on that last I front Johnson must have made a mistake somewhere or else it was who in traffic would keep rely on that one because that she's falling back a bit more on this lap could be just traffic but that number five car we need to take a bit more risk perhaps number 38 the p2 car that fell behind a few off the GTL engine the first couple of laps of race the camera castles quickly worked at the way past them and pulled well a well away and he's going quicker and quickly so it's a good laps with Cameron castles right now in pursuit of Dalton Kellett yeah the exclamation from Bay that Jeremy was giving that information as the 55 cause in the second position Trent hit but down to third goes down to fourth does he round the outside that's got championship implications for the Michelin Sprint Cup and the are caused through and that puts a career or be shod in the box seat as far as the championship for drivers is concerned so is there a problem now for the the number 86 car lost two positions in the space of three or four corners has dropped a long way back Kurt behind the number 63 WeatherTech Ferrari remember the Ferrari took was ahead of the Acura for the first couple laps then they change back again now it's back again yeah and the goober McNeil is pulling away from those two so it could have been that trend kind of lost his momentum in the traffic as some of the prototype cards are coming past him but keep an eye on that we know the tire degradation is a major factor I just wonder if he had to go offline Jeremy and he's got him in a pickup on the ties and he's gonna have to clean a little bit because his pace now seems fine but he's had to give up another position he also did a couple extra qualifying laps did hitman so he may have slightly older by a couple of three laps can't see that making that much difference in the tires a law as J's pointing out in my ears at the moment is another heat cycle on the michelin's great crowd in attendance and the infield party looking a picture plenty people Ekron who qualified on pole position for rear her letter but Lanigan BMW has held that lead from the start and for the last 11 laps has fallen in the red white blue 2016 LeMond winning livery on the 66 Ford GT trying to close it down trying to get the lead third position the team car to the leader that's the white number 25 top block twist he's coming over the top of the corkscrew piece we're just a little bit from the best of the Porsches championship leading Lorentz factor in the 9.2 Porsche he's only a half a second a Ryan Briscoe he's closer in the 67th car that's the blue and red Ford GT Chip Ganassi machine but at par but in a very different approach having a very different approach to there is we end that most of the teams rather than taking Turner turn about to do the qualifying Lawrence patio has done all the qualifying this year therefore started all of the races that normally means that unless there's an incident or a slight change of tactics that it's certainly in the shorter races Lawrence does one stint and Earl does the last two we'll see how that plays out today also it means that Lawrence could fork this on set up for the Carver qualifying and Earl for the where our leader is about to put a lap on the GT d 4th position car and has done Lawrence van to will fall in behind Ricky tillery's they go down to turn 11 the final left hander all the way down to mistake we have a new leader the red number one on the side of the 66 so what's happened there because that's quite a big gap almost two seconds for that new Ford apologies as I was checking the earlier on the GT the mock cars around about 130 235 now the lead in GT Lomond was being held by the BMW but coming out of turn two a couple of laps ago there was a stutter in a coffin the car just didn't seem to want to push out of the corner that was all the information the dirt bill of Enid and he slipped through he's putting up a couple of seconds call out three seconds three two half seconds now so I'm not sure what went on with yes he could scar his last that was a 125 and he's holding up his teammate top bludvist now we're a dirty lose a 23 for exactly where again I said to be common issues so quickly with the BMW one year after dr. sick 15 laps into this race only it's a long long way to go it's gonna be a lot race if they're gonna have to study for tires every 20 laps or so they've only got ten sets for the weekend Jeremy in GT GT lamorne lmp2 and dpi have 10 sets of brand-new bhishma to start the weekend GTD what you have eight it is you do true through the beers no question about it just watching lmp2 by the way don't kill it had a pre big leader of sub state one state but Cameron castles accountable 38 for performance that most of us he's close that right down now to just a couple of seconds was a lot more than that not so long ago let's go to Adam for an update from the pit lane nobody in the pits yet which is good news you look anxious yes doesn't it get a little bit antsy they have both of their second drivers that's Patrick belay in November with their helmets on sitting all the fit bark still sitting there to the engineers and listening for all the information they're going to need but they are the only gtlm team right now with these second drivers with their helmets on everybody's getting ready ish BMW is definitely another team is putting their drivers etiquette socks on and all that but a Corvette they still have pretty children at Ford well there's no information whatsoever of getting their drivers ready gotta think Jeremy that qualifying was in very different conditions and the tire choice for qualifying would have been predicated by predicated on the warm conditions in air and on track and I wonder if those tires maybe aren't giving the grip that they were expecting on what is a much cooler afternoon now with the search just for the moment or two at various press about the core course just behind clouds and I wonder if there's getting trouble getting heat into the tires quite the reverse from what they would have expected and that's a warm qualifying on Saturday particularly for get pushed off line here and pick up the marbles on top those on those Michelin tire so yeah and look into third place now that Jordan Taylor is close right in on the two accurate so that Cadillac you know the Cadillac is always pretty good on its tire where it's often much better than the other cars and they were kind of hoping the Cadillac teams were hoping they was going to be hotter today because then they they think they might even more of an advantage under the Acuras of the masses and everything else but your tailor is really doing an excellent job in third position answer just to point out the big advantage that the Cadillac cars is a truckload of torque so going through traffic if you just get out of the power bar the little bit of turbocharged cars it can take you half a second or a couple of tenths for the engine just to punch back into the power band well you've got a much wider power and torque band on the big v8 of the Konica Minolta cadillac racing TPI v number ten then you maybe have it some of the more higher revving turbocharged engines the Cadillac has always been very very good indeed through traffic and in maybe that's just helping out Jordan tiller he's also got the advantage of courses the drivers that are being lapped have been walking up to some extent by the fact that the two leaders have gone through once in a while if you're in a midst of a battle no matter how good a driver you are too easy to miss them the first or second blue flag to but well that could be again half a second a couple attends here it's all that makes the difference Dalen GTT torn a cracking part was going on through the field as the prototypes come through Philippe in NASA just going past the number 33 append Keating sitting in here at the position for that wins facilities but Christina Nielsen in seventh at the 57 pattern caterpillar sponsored and I saw that's the Acura NSX down to the final quarter for those two and through comes the master as well pushes Keating just a little bit off like just what Jeremy was seeing just went Ben he's trying to put some pressure on Christina ahead through come the prototypes you've got to give them room because you don't want to frustrate them our Porsche keys to the race patience in traffic that stands for those who are peat pastures well as the ones who are doing the passing you don't want to throw your race away for the sake of one corner when you could have eased out at the throttle and let a faster car through coming about half an hour just half an hour just under half an hour complete it 25 minutes down still the two Acuras ahead Ricky Taylor at Brad Montoya nine tenths of a second apart seven from six Montoya does not like sitting behind anybody even if it's his teammates he'll see that car ahead as a challenge to catch and a challenge to pass did a decent block pass of a couple at the hotel this morning to be honest time to get me wits about me certainly wasn't going to give me any room in the air make sure that right hander as I came out of the parking area Ricky Ricky Taylor least John tillery's brother in third position and then a big gap six and a half seconds back to Filipe Albuquerque he's got Jonathan Bomarito in the 55 Mazda right behind him but they're fighting their way through the leading cars in GT detour at the moment now Bommarito gets through and past the number 63 Cooper McNeill in his own race of course he's nine and a half seconds but Cory Lewis who's done a fantastic job for the number 48 Paul Miller racing Lamborghini team he's up the road gone in GTD so now the third and fourth position cars as they go through turn five and up the hill the six that pretty left hand the attorney just on the brow just that that big invisible hand the downforce will get you through the left-hander now all already up to the corkscrew my goodness knows cars climb the hills very very quickly indeed nothing between them so that is a proper battle on the circuit as they're charged now through turn nine to the right-hander at ten put their entrance coming up on the left-hand side from the number 55 minutes it's all crystal red or miss of the air backed by the Cadillac driver it's only lemon got nowhere near there to the left-hand side of the truck way needed to me so is that Filipe Albuquerque making just a little mistake or is it the first sign of grip going away for the Cadillac he's wide in turn two as well but that might be the cutback as he's caught Cory Louis now this is very interesting indeed not too far behind either Philippe at NASA at the number 31 red white Whelan car you just watch out for stuck something Karcher for me the first sight of him just struggling to get to the apex as in comes be chicoy Berg in the Cadillac number 85 Adam will keep in either the optional truck is that just four tires already it's tires and pure they're gonna put in fuel one the driver change so Misha is staying aboard they're cleaning off the windshield not doing a tear-off yet but it is for new Michelin tires going on this number 85 Cadillac a little bit earlier perhaps than we might have expected barely a half an hour 30 minutes in to this rod okay yada out laughs a couplet Pierre slaps formation laughs call them what you will but I would have thought Jeremy surely somewhere near 40 minutes we would have expected from the piranha types and again and the final corner Albuquerque struggling to get the Cadillac to the MX unless he's not trying to get it to the MX and he's trying to find a bit of grip somewhere us die struggling he's really struggling he is right now Andy and he's losing time to draw Taylor and up Ted car who's who extended that lead from for five seconds out to eight seconds now is pretty much a second a lap each and last couple laps he's lost at the number five car in relation to the number tenth and as you su can see the number 55 Mazda is a looming they're pretty large in his mirrors but it's certainly it's it's gonna go competitive run by five Number five Gardner it's a good battle between these two you often spare one sport comet is talking about the undercut and the other cut to expressions that I dislike intensely if I'm honest but what then I'm talking about is the performance advantage of getting into the pits and putting on a new set of tires and when you are doing that early you get the performance advantage you can make up time on anyone who stays out for a few laps like longer that is the undercut the other cut is where tires work better towards the end of their life and a view called set the tires perhaps don't have the performance in there if you stay off long stout longer you get a performance and time advantage by staying out that's an overcoat it's very much an undercooked track here as Philemon NASA has come into the pit Li and out of some of the GT LeMond teams are getting ready to number three corvette crew is up on the wall with pit board in hand as well and there the next pit box behind the 31 crew and their sister ground the number blank and tires so Felipe NASA sang aboard for one more spits more new tires going onto this car they've done the right side so far they are running around to do the left's as well and you'll hear a rumble of a Corvette coming in very soon as Antonio Garcia is up on the walls that means on Magnussen at least we'll be getting out they will be doing a full service for that cart Whalen engineer there is no specialist that's four stops track that's a four stop race for guys who were stopping this far I mean that this is extraordinary stuff people are really struggling early on here you can see the drivers very good drivers struggling to hit their the apex the pocket bit in the middle of the corner and that second agent of these guys so they're having to drive around that they're having to adapt what they're doing Corvette into the pit lid and gone absolutely fabulous pit stop by Corvette Racing we've expected that and they've these cars of course have made their first top but the Corvette stopped a long while early yet so it's got the Michelin some determined pressure that's been a poorly it's a 4/5 and six but with the cars ahead to stop that's a really interesting scrap that's going on through the final corner now and out onto the main straight the Ford is back ahead sort at the end of this lap they're in exactly the same position as they were at the end of last up but I think at least three times well it'd have to be an even number what did four times then yeah the position changed on that lap outstanding stuff by both guys not a hint of training and pigs on pushing people off the track fair respectful clean brilliant racing in GT love up and as you TD the number 86 Acura just fallen behind the McLaren for the last the fuel to go in on the number 911 they should really get driver change and tires done in the time that it takes to fill the tank they have the cars already off its jacks the flat-six engine is fired up they're waiting they're waiting this is taking a niche it was feel terrible now the Porsche engine fires up and disappears from right in front of us the school that exhaust out behind its tank car now he's still in the pit lane but the pit lane speed limit is gone so he can attack this left-hander it's really tight you've got to be careful up call the tires out he comes that Jeremy so that has paid off that is the performance advantage that they had with new Michelin's odd what some people would call the undercut it's going to have worked at least for the number three car when that BMW number twenty-four cups into the pits yeah that's right Oh faff Katya no that's okay that's officer number 63 car that he'd been dicing with for second place in the class before 22 seconds behind the class leader Corps newest extractor only 31 laps of racing that's enforced a pit stop that is almost a pit stop 360 compass racing coming in fuel at tires from a club at least no driver change for the McLaren we did see the driver change by the number nine car which should be moving anytime soon exactly rubbish on his out we'll get a word with him in a moment's time now that we've got some of the first drivers out chicken go grab them for interview and in fact we have done just that as Cooper McNeill pulled himself up the second position having a great fight early on Adam is that Cooper how good it it feel to be battling up there at the front of the field yeah it felt great but to be honest it's just a testament to the hard work from the team the story of course oh by the tech guys have been first surveying all year we haven't had the best season but three podiums in the championship so far over the cars pretty good earlier on Friday so really happy happy with that so far so good I mean there's a long way to go what's gonna be the biggest issue this weekend seems like everybody else to struggle in a bed or Ferrari seems to be pretty light on it on her feet so works out for the best driver change is done tire change you nearly complete car drops off the jack stands fires up just waiting on the field now they go a light that comes on at the top of their gas probe to tell them when to remove it the light one brand and the man pulled it out immediately that was 13 laps longer for that BMW and four cores the Corvette to take the late Tony up Garcia then sweeps past John Edwards who is still in the pit lane he's going to lose second position as well as through cause Joey at Italy and rightly happy now it is a short the gap will he be able to get out in front of the third place go back it's gonna be a drag race out of the two parts the certain he's just ahead of the third-place compact this is crucial call tires then for John Edwards here comes the Corvette number four goes to the left goes to the right gets a lock side of the bridge and will go through into turn four and take that position Tommy Milner then hop into third fantastic stuff and the front of the field Tonio Garcia leads from Joey Han second from Topman the third from John Edwards run the longest but lost the lead because of that performance disadvantage to the class that stopped earlier and Corvette Racing surprise surprise surprise they got their tactics right well we're back on lap 22 but their bid it work if the race was to finish off on lap 40 but the with 40 bits means there are almost certainly they're gonna have to make an extra pit stop compared certainly to that BMW so there's a long long way to go but it's fascinating to see these terrific strategies at this point in the race well they're not far off making their second stop if they only get another 22 23 laps out of those tires Jeremy we're about four or five laps away from them coming in again on day and the time where the tire will improve drew drew in a day I think it won't be you'll be more Robert lay down and that'll help alleviate what difficulties the teams have been having to some squeezed there but number 44 is Andy Lally who's taking over the wheel of that car off a really good first hit by John probably fell back a little bit in the early stages but close up onto the main pack of cars in GTD tell you what Corvette have crapped this with Andy had to think Antonio Garcia at the moment as Jeremy said we've still got an hour and three minutes to go how will that balance out they translate at that early pit stop nine laps earlier than the Ford GT in second 2.1 seconds the lead there but they may have to be making a stop they could have adjusted that tire strategy remember the GT LeMond cars the all these fishermen showed runners here who have the choice of compacts and they'll have been working with their own dedicated Michelin tire engineers just to work water work through the options and what the change in temperature from practice and qualifying on Friday and Saturday has made here into the pits the leader of GTD Waterston this is paid by Cory Lewis and surely he'll be getting out giving Bryan a run an hour pretty much an hour 58 minutes in this repeat that is extra very impressive and sellers has already installed in the car with four new Michelin tires well I think we've got a lot of Geddes breath box in it before you try to have a word with him that was very nearly an hour in the car brilliant stuff just see if tour TV London has because the two leaders can't get through more traffic more opportunities formative but more opportunities for Tianjin and they're coming through to the Michelin Sprint Cup leading number nine Porsche or at least the driver who's just got out of that Sammy will be shot is leading that and through caused the number six and he's got past the bright yellow Cadillac now can the second place accurate to the sim yes he can trap the outside going into turn five that only leaves Jordan Taylor and the Konica Minolta got to do the same here maybe at the squeeze pass before turn six but he'll have to have racing accurate this is gonna be fun very quick in and out for that car but they have lost grabbed oh I just think this deal yeah yeah I mean another 48 car by staying out so long the gap before totally real I became could McNeil book number 63 character pizza gap first a second in GTD was 22 seconds right now that was on that 431 eight the eight laps later he went that number 48 car came in and that gap between the two cars now they're both back up to speed is less than 10 seconds so by staying out longer at the 63 car on fresh tires was able to crawl back more than half of the deficit than it had before yeah but a second and a half to a second and three quarters per lap if you average it out that's a lot of performance advantage to coming in early the cats out the back now though Jeremy for that so everybody will have seen those numbers they'll all be crunchy possibilities and putting the values into their spreadsheets to see what the computers spit out yeah but they went to full a full hour before making that stop well it's a two hours 40 minutes of you're a dick to me we've already seen this season if you equalize the tasket salinity freeze time still yes absolutely you as we had in the last six minutes Brian sell us with a half a minute lead over Tony Wilander in the 63 Ferrari he's got 26 seconds on Andy Lally who's driven as happy Lallier race as he could possibly think perfectly judged to bring that number 44 Lamborghini him in the third position has now pulled a couple a second on Scott Horrell it's Katherine Legge in fifth position ahead of Jeff Blake a more race update that is fifth in GTD they're heading to turn five now and they've got a bit of slow traffic ahead of them paint Jack Hawks with him often I say that Jack Hawks with his slower traffic but the Lexus just hasn't been in this race today they'll go away scratch their heads look at the hopefully with some answers for what to could see them on our next and final race of the season great race ten seconds to go another half a second that I'm Cynthia Garcia took out of John Edwards on that on that last lap but I don't think it's going to be quite enough he saw three seconds behind the 25 we butts did but no no it was a great team effort he's been fast all the way through the the practice of qualifying is he who who put the car a qualified the car Denis oh yeah it's been it's been a great day for a cutey pets gave me a new beat they've been a dominant force this weekend quite frankly they've been fast as they keep in every session and they've done exactly what they need to do to control this race and put opposing firmly well one had had enough time to do the arithmetic he records 12 points the advantage in the DPI championship yeah was seven is being extended by 5 because Nasser and Durrani finished in third position - that's exactly right well the techs print Cup championship Zachary Robuchon he's won the inaugural running of the shorter form of our championship which comes to an end here this weekend's not even a smile on your face release it there we go that's better a champion for the first time this year then it's still open going in Appetit them all for the overall championship so it's a pretty good day for you yeah you know it's not obviously not the result we wanted we almost got that podium but at the same time we did what we had to do to secure the championship it's not the way you want to do it looks like the accurate guys had a hard day but you know we'll take in very happy with what the five team is done this year congratulations thank you very much well there's our first champion of the Year crowned in terms of the drivers the WeatherTech Sprint Cup champion on his own because he had to swap teams earlier in the didn't work could have gone to one of the races so well Doug - Zachary Robbie shot one hand on the trophy for the overall for Montoya and did Cameron baby 12 points without the correct take that chair - 74 to 262 I would say going into the final round Oh double pointer anything like that just regular points opportunity five points for the win yeah at that second place by Elio Castroneves and the seven carve really important to keep people Durrani from scrambling a few extra points there are still presumably in second place in the championship yes they are as far as the GT LeMond championship is concerned despite a rather anonymous race from Porsche this weekend Earl Bamber and Lawrence van tur will actually increase their lead in the driver's championship over their teammates at least Nick Tandy and Patrick peel is seventh and eighth position of course everybody else will Klaus them down a wee bit puts I think really you've got to see it's between the two Porsche crews and winner-take-all at Betsy Lamont yeah very much so yeah the management Garcia closed closed up by seven points on PA and Tandy they were 10th behind so just a three-point deficit now from second to third but it's a it's a commanding lead now for van - and bamboo came in here with 11 points and it's now well I told you - attorney gone out by one toe just 12 points ahead so still all to play for potentially at petty LeMond in the championship for manufacturers there Porsche you know they've already clinched clearly I've cleaned that GTD Jeremy that one's going to be interesting because our championship leaders well we're down in 9th position now they'll still pick up points for that I'll let you work that one out as we speak - Corey Lewis who put in a yeoman stint in the first first part of the race they're almost a full hour that was a great stint from Corey Lewis get things started and what a way for Bryan sellers to bring it home but hey your first win in a little while since the 12 hours of sebring how does this feel oh it's I guess you could say it's been a long time coming this one feels very very special for sure and it's been a dominant weekend for us here at Paul Miller Racing and hats off to the whole team I mean we were on and off the track we had everything we needed Brian was a huge help getting me up to speed here a little bit in the girly on the weekend and when it came down to race time we we knocked it out the park and I'm just so proud of everybody on Team Ryan did an awesome job there at the end and this this one feels good for sure Congrats to you guys I want to jump in with Brian really quick because this is a momentum you need going into your and Paul Miller home track isn't it yeah it's great I mean I think you have to look at this race and a lot of times it's put on drivers a lot of times it's put on crew but today I have to say was all down to our engineer large gear Singh he did a fantastic job the car was great and one of the things we focus on all week was tire degradation and we were able to just run consistent I think ultimately that's you know that's that that's what was able to get us the win did you have to change your strategy and the balance of the car between the way that you ran the strategy with the long and the short stints yeah I mean we had a plan going in I mean you don't know the whole plan as its unfolding inside the car but when we came out in the 86 was in front of us and the 96 was in front of us I'm like thinking to myself I don't know maybe maybe our plan in the beginning was was bad but in the end it gave us a short fuel stop to the end and a long run on the tires but we knew that the car would be able to hold it so it was really great first win here at WeatherTech Raceway let's take her for Brian Sellars congratulations thank you and the GT T manufacturer Buttle is extraordinary Jeremy yeah it is Acura came in here with an 8-point edge over Lamborghini under unofficially I record Lamborghini will lead leave here with a one-point advantage 269 to 268 over Acura and Porsche then on out of this either they're only seven points behind on 261 so that's the overall championship in the GT d in the spirit world Tech Sprint Cup championship clinched there this is the final round by his a career robot great effort by him all season long the but let me just get back to the team to the team split manufacturers Porsche will will win the GTD manufacturers championship minions were tech Sprint Cup Lexus will hold on to second I reckon by one point over over Lamborghini in Acura and that'll go in favor of Lamborghini because that that's the that win Acura has not won a race in the Sprint Cup this season surprisingly how's the overall championship then with that rather in GTD with that rather interesting performance for the the leaders there they had a healthy late yes it'll be a 31-point lead fourth our backer and hitman so that's that's a few minutes turn up and start the race that's not to say they're not that's okay they've done what they needed to do well we'll leave Jeremy to continue adding up Adam is waiting to speak to the winners in GT the morning fact he's in there now so Ganassi team and all the Ford Performance guys and forward but you know my family and friends that are here that support me all year long after the races when I don't win when I'm angry when I'm not hunt when I'm hungry and I'm hangry you know this one's for my wife and my kids you know my parents good to be here I wish it could have been excited I had a good feeling about this but my brother's up there and a lot of my close friends so this is a this one feels really good I had a feeling I mean it was comfort from the get-go so it was a time to set sail Congrats both you sure Adam with our JT lamorne winners and just knit me back the GTD teams championship in the weathertech Sprint Cup Jeremy Shaw that's this all of the front running teams had had pretty horrible weekends so that what that means is that my Shack racing with curb agajanian will clinch the GTD teams championship in the in the Sprint Cup by a considerable by actually a fairly comfortable margin actually extending their lead by one point over a Vasus 11 the penultimate round of them so WeatherTech Sports Car Championship here on the Monterey Peninsula full green race for full two hour and 48 minutes worth of excitement strategy strategy playing out for the teams in all of the categories the next challenge is something very different in date ten hours at the newly named to mission and race we're at Road Atlanta of course we'll be there from early in the week with some special programming including a special midweek mortis board from Porsche in Atlanta on the Wednesday and we've got a special Porsche
