Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I was there, upper deck near right field pole. IIRC Sid Fernandez was the unsung hero of the game. Mets down early then big 50 came in and started striking everyone out. There was a surge of energy in the stadium. Everybody felt that if we could hold them to no more scoring we could come back and win. And then Daryl and then just madness and hysteria. Epic night. Still got my ticket stub.
Thanks for this. I'm gonna pretend that it's 1986 for the rest of the night.
Who's commentating? Is that Vin Scully?
Anyone have the radio broadcast from this game and Game 6? I would love to hear Bob Murphy's broadcast of these games.
One of my favorite childhood memories..
I love that YouTube has these.
I like to watch Game 6. No matter how many times I watch it, I still have a hard time believing that they'll come back after 2 outs in the 10th.
I guess I'm spoiled but it's very hard to watch a game without the score box nowadays.
Anyway, for wall-to-wall excitement this game beats Game 6 IMO. Of course Game 6 has the more thrilling ending but this game was start to finish edge-of-your-seat tension.
I often watch the last inning of this. I love it. I was 10 at the time. Brings me back to such an awesome place.
