Why don't we see the jacket much anymore? I think I've seen Paddack wear it once on the basepaths

There is a rule, by the way, that no one may bat while wearing a jacket, and only the pitcher can wear a jacket while running the bases.

Of course you can wear whatever you want under your jersey...

I can’t believe he swung... twice! A lot of the time it seems like they go up there and take pitches until they’re called out on strikes. Or don’t!

I remember this World Series well but not this particular AB. In any case, what a time to be a New York sports fan.

Watching pitchers hit is not fun.

This is why pitchers hitting is beyond stupid.

the final home game for these Mets at Shea Stadium for the season their whole business is in their final game period down three games to one game five Yankees it bends out lighter on the mound for the Mets the starting lineup today keys will lead it off tonight with Jose Vizcaino at second base Eric Jeter back the number two spot in short Darren David Justice is hitting third in left field Bernie Williams cleans up that Tino Martinez at first Paul O'Neill and right Jorge Posada does the catching Scott Brosius Bennigan's padded pitches and bats night coupla changes to the Mets lineup tonight differently in the outfield and on the infield Agbayani Payton and Bubba travel in the outfield tonight Trammell his first start taking the place of the struggling Timo Perez it on the infield its Kurt Abbott place of Mike bordick and in the center defense left-hander Al Leiter house 11th post-season start without a win that's most postseason starts history of postseason LCS Division Series and World Series without a win a fart is heavy to the right-handed batters he's very tough to lift that's why he gave him only 17 home runs he uses a two-seamer that's the outside basketball of state lines was talking about and he changes and control on the other side of the play and an occasional changeup occasional curveball very serious conversations happen at home plate when the umpires gather and they get the lineup cards John Stearns wearing a microphone for us had this to say to the men in blue here tonight all I can say is I hope we see everybody again this weekend like Sunday I'm talking Sunday night it's Saturday all right gonna go seven here we got to get the most revenue Chris shampoo Sandhya John thinking of the industry right right here's Jose Vizcaino leading it off for the Yankees with Jeter and justice to follow haze settling in over this Shea Stadium crowd from the fireworks that just happened as the bench took the field away we go Game five plan with us this guy you know started the first three games of this world series sat out last night's game and so far four out of 14 this series against the backs to the right side Alfonso so with that out of the way outliner will work to Derek Jeter putting together fantastic season numbers he's heard as he walks in what the reason Jones using my leg three two daring the second time up what was to be the winning run the third run in the third inning against Bobby Jones why nervous is inside with ball one Tjader is it at 13th consecutive World Series games that's a strike one ball broadcast also available in Spanish by utilizing the si P but not your television Derek Jeter that's up in the light to ball a lighter is one of the few pictures who can continually come inside when he's behind in the count he has that much confidence in that cut fastball inside the reason that most pitchers don't come inside exactly what most hitters look for and look finishes Derek Jeter off with the first cutter but on the one oak pitch inside corner fit inside and finish nasty slider out of the strike zone can be very important for a liner to get through this first inning unscathed we know what a high-strung guy emotional guy he can be out there on the mound always a danger perhaps being a little too pumped up we know what happens when a pitcher gets two pumps up the ball yeah it's a good point because last year game six in Atlanta National League Championship Series Al Leiter did not report it out the first inning was 5 to nothing Braves David Justice takes a ball that's would battle back in that game tied it lost it 10 to 9 in Atlanta in the 11th inning on that bases-loaded walk and he pet getting ready for his turn on the bound two ball and a strike late into the bullpen one more thing the game possibly one ball one strike two out nobody on first inning for the Yankees talking about emotion it's very difficult for pitchers to do that because pitchers can't run out fuels can run it out infielders can run they hit they run the bases of pitchers can find that small mound three balls and a strike on Justin justice touch strength too one of the reasons Joe Jory wanted to keep Andy Pettitte in a Yankee uniform the way he performs in big game series games the men's lineup brought to you by Coors Light penny on bionics leading off in left field to see what he did this season out of that spot that Alfonzo Piazza sure a tremble in the middle with Payton habit and Al Leiter pitching and batting ninth no score after a half inning and a strike right down the middle - I'm Bionic the Yankees have gone 12 straight innings with at least one baserunner until al Leiter's set them down 1 2 3 one ball one strike people peres sitting this one out at the start struggling at the plate even miscues in the field tricky hop throw Brosius you can see that little nine for Brosius Tino Martinez saving the infielders a ton of errors this year Andy Pettitte in this postseason - and oh he's similar to Al Leiter and they both have cutters the biggest difference is that lighters cutter is heavier than Andy Pettitte he's had also improved against left-handed hitters only one left-hander has homered against him this year that was Robin Ventura on the sixth they've got the 10th of June working faster from the windup in between pitches ball one to Alfonzo only two out of 16 in this world series after bass hits and RBIs game after game in the first two rounds of playoffs late swinging a ball and a strike 12 starts for Andy pettite his last home run allowed that was Detroit gloss the agents - let's have to find that against the st. Louis Cardinals they scored in every first inning in the NLCS a total of 12 runs they've had one base runner in the first inning in the first four World Series games off the glove of Posada not off the body of Alfonzo in the catcher too now full count free to all function Brosius became the first two out you know guys you would assume the Mets facing possible elimination here in the World Series the guys might be wrapped a little tight before the ballgame Mike Piazza was really tight little air guitar he's a one there in the outfield before the ballgame today listening to some Motley Crue one way to get your arms loose before games he's got a symbol behind him at his drum kit playing the symbol behind his head had nice symbols on I'm Sherri had the whole thing go and that's one way to loosen up before a game the numbers for Piazza during the postseason in this world series four out of seven seas homered twice he bats with two out nobody on in the bottom the first spreg won one of piazzas two home runs in this world series last night of one leg off-balance muscled it into the bleachers in left-center off Denny Neagle that made the score 3-2 that happened to the third in it and there was no more scoring the rest of the night smokin Joe hanging out here at Shea Stadium you see earlier in the year when we covered a Saturday game no balls one strike two out nobody on that one two thank you punched out the first ball that night didn't think he did this offensive piazzas had trouble laying off up in this World Series we've spoken in the past about how he's a good lowball hitter Yankees continually challenging up around the letters and Mike's having a hard time laying off of that pitch most hitters are jammed like this they don't hit it hard enough to get it by the shortstop but again that Piazza strength as he muscles it past Jeter - gives him a tent game the first inning in todd zeile to walk into the batter's box this world series with scored strike one don't expect the big league by Mike Piazza at first base he was picked off by Andy Pettitte in Game one in the World Series over the last five years the most in the matrix four foot on the bag of softball hmm Toby close to Tino Martinez and a one ball one strike count on Zeile kids we used to say get a big lead don't be a face sticker tonight Mike Piazza is a base sticker and be petted asking the home plate umpire Tim McClellan if it's okay on this cool night 61 degrees into that pitching hand Jeeter tourism five is through one inning a two-out hit by Piazza the Mets strand the first runner of the night second inning now now store Al Leiter a perfect first inning with a strikeout of Derek Jeter mixed in and now Bernie Williams Tino Martinez and Paul O'Neill bad for the Yankees here in the second no score burning old 415 in this world series that's wrong Burnie hit a couple of balls hard last night but into the evening over four we talked about it last night amazing that a team we on the verge of what the Yankees are on the verge of and that is three consecutive World Championships for in the last five years and yet their cleanup hitter who's been their cleanup hitter basically throughout the guy who has not hit much of anything in his career in the World Series one ball one strike outside 2 1 now three balls and strike Burnie was having a difficult time reaching that outside pitch the ball on the outside part of the plate it's a common problem with hitters with an open stance where that left foot is pointed toward third-base now he's more straightaway I think those swings that he's just had the best swings at Bernie Williams had in the four games that we've had I mean those are authoritative swings that he just took on that cutter for now Leiter when facing a lighter even when you take a good swing to hit the ball foul with the toy on the inside part of the plate three balls two strikes Thanks you hear golfers all the time talking about how you look better over the ball you look better over a putt Bernie Williams looks better at the plate tonight eighteen career World Series play he wait and gets a piece of it the New York Mets are eight and four here at Shea Stadium in their World Series history they have never been a limit at home in a postseason series Bobby Valentine to these Mets trying to get the world seer Yankee Stadium for a game on Saturday night breaks through and some of the Yankees baleen wounded up the instructor Chris Chambliss squared birdie up a little bit tonight talk about the swings leading to the homerun what hammer that pitch this is a cutter that doesn't cut on TV hit against that front side powerful swing that's a swing Yankee fans and mr. see now Martinez box it in but Bob and I were talking about look at the pitch pinch hit hard and he takes a pitch check swing better slang there right there a pitcher one out nobody on and fall against one up an end of the all part of the game Paul O'Neill certainly understands that Al Leiter moving on Neil back with that tailing fastball I don't really have a problem with that no sir below the shoulders at the belt pushing off the plate trying to work that outside corner to an O now 9 out of 16 in this world series been wearing the Mets out kind of a surprise that they've waited this long to come inside Williams puts the Yankees on top here in the second inning now 2 & 1 on the deal you have to go back to game 2 last year's World Series for the last hint for Bernie Williams back to the 98 World Series was last RBI I'm trying desperately to get the early interesting point Joe because this is the 41st inning of this world series 14 the Mets have had the lead for the Yankees stays inside full count Dave Wallace the pitching coach for the Mets guarantee that he's coming second strikeout for lighter this is the ideal place to pitch left-handed hitters that's where you tied them up tailing fastball inside high thigh high Paul O'Neill thought the ball perhaps hit the ground before going into the mitt of Mike Piazza but that was not the case trying to buy one more swing any way he could sure two-out nobody on Posada takes a ball or hain't bounding the number seven spot for Joe Torre tonight same look at the bottom end of his lineup as Tory put together for Game four the only change is the top two spots cheater let off last night made an immediate impact Soho hit second and second tonight is Vizcaino playing second leading off Jeter batting second otherwise the same cast one ball one strike on Jorge Posada kind of it and the Yankees are finished in the second but not before Corning Williams gets his first hit of this world series he made it count that puts the Yankees on as Game five goes to the bottle center but one airship has been with us throughout this world series seen by millions in its ongoing goodwill toward Budweiser the official beer of Major League Baseball and the World Series up above down below at Shea Stadium this game goes to the bottom of the second the Yankees on top one to nothing a home run by Ventura takes a ball hi you go back through the postseason history of Andy Pettitte big games in the World Series for the Yankees he's only 28 years old he won the clincher game four in 98 back diego's seven and a third innings no runs on five hits of three nothing win with a series tied two games apiece back in 96 he won Game five in Atlanta meeting John small onda nothing the Yankees up three games to two that World Series headed back to Yankee Stadium he's won six in that World Series starting his run to a two now on Ventura that one to nothing win in Game five in the 96 World Series as we look at Mike Hampton who would start on Saturday night against Roger Clemens if the Mets win this game and that one nothing game that was the last game the Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta where they moved across the way to Ted Turner Field the two tuna Ventura even with that postseason and World Series success even with Bennett being a young left-hander the boss George Steinbrenner had lost faith Deer Park Texas Jerris stays alive the count stays three and two and the call was out very close the Yankees trading Andy pettite last year's trading deadline but the baseball people of the Yankees stepped up and said we can't do it young left-handers this talented this stable too hard to find - Andy pettite landed it three balls two strikes on Ventura in the bottom of the second and here's Andy pettite talking about that situation at last year's trading deadline the wasn't for Joe I definitely would be gone I believe I think you know that the organization already gave it okay to go ahead and get rid of me and and it was understandable Jill Stud stood by me and I knew that I was going to funk and you know that I'd get out and that you know I was strong enough mentally and physically to get out of it and you know I told him a lot for that but it misses to Trammell ball one Joe telling us before the game that Mel stottlemyre had a lot to do with that too and makes it to a no story telling us Mel stottlemyre was so firmly behind Andy Pettitte that's all I needed but he knew for himself these guys don't come along very often big strong and in pitcher one out the second since that trading deadline last year during the regular season Pettitte since that deadline is 26 12 most wins by Yankee Bordeaux of the postseason three balls and strike they paint next hate launch in five out of 17 in this world series there was obviously a chance that your mommy Valentine made the decision that Timo Perez would come out of the lineup for tonight's game Kate had a chance to lead off Bobby Valentine likes Agbayani in that number one spot productive out of that spot this season during the regular year there is paint batting in the number seven mommy likes the fact that Benny Agbayani should the bottom part of the order for the Mets get on base he's a guy that can drive in runs out of that leadoff spot and he's really developed a lot more patience at the play the ability to lay off those tough pitchers that it falls behind you Kurt Abbott waits on deck say something if we can explain two balls no strikes one on one couple of days about Zanesville Ohio matter of fact it's probably gotten more mentions in the world series this year too this is the third one but Jay Payton and Kurt Abbott are both from Zanesville Ohio visit vomit town over twenty-five thirty thousand leave around twenty five or thirty thousand that's on the outside corner to along pretty good representation for a town that small that two of the same lineup in the World Series hitting back-to-back seven and eight with events tonight Abbott on deck eight will credit loose BC something he likes up on the couch in one two balls two strikes good downer right there wicked dirtballs Andy Pettitte that it fell behind Ventura back in struck a bombshell Oh on paper ouch be off right here but remember that Andy Petitte pickoff move he has not shown to the Mets tonight how devastating it Jokke wasn't funny rookie Wilson goes over to talk to travel as the sign try to get a runner to third base so he can score on something other than a hit you can certainly can't defend staying put and still three and two on paper I don't understand that strategy right there ground ball pitcher I'll throw is that Andy Petitte pickoff move that's produced 42 pickoffs over the last five years that wasn't even his basket right there that was just a show me move over to Bubba Trammell at first base can't be so concerned with that so that it changes the way you play the game right ramble stays but there's a the right-center field that's going to get down Travel will go only the second and because the men's did it's first at second with one out here in the second John Stearns the bench coach for the Mets had this to say about the move of Andy Pettitte des moves so good week you're not running to steal the base anyway wait until he releases the ball it's up to the hitter to put the ball in play if the Mets are running there Bubba Trammell ends up on third base this is why Bubba Trammell does not go to third base you can't take the philosophy that a pitcher's move is so good that you can't run on a base hit one strike to happen avid has had three plate appearances in his career against Andy Pettitte he as a hit has two walks in the lineup tonight the struggling Mike bordick one out of eight in this world series four out of 33 broke it back first two out at second I all she'd and the jammed with that cutter and Jeter making sure of one the positive head back now three 458 on the so second and third two out a line 58 at the plate during the regular season by his own admission now later as one of the weaker hitting pitchers in baseball Andy Pettitte trying to pitch around a walk-in a signal drops down a side first save a run scores in the game his time I think you will get they said on this a running double clutch by Tino Martinez and that is rare it the initial double-clutch by Martinez throughout the entire timing of the play ped of trying to find the bag fall at the same time doesn't come up with that toss from the egg put two out pass process mence slow rollers for the mix here the second and then take in a one-run lead Scot crunches tried to barehand this ball it's tough when the ball bounces that high come to gauge the bounce and it goes under his hand after the fun RBI infield hit five egg let's take the lead now it's Alfonso so two official scores rulings on the ball dropped down by lighter the button down the right sighs they've given an error the pitcher pet I for one ball one strike and Alfonso Brosius reaches down for the ball and comes up with air and the Mets come up with the lead one RBI in this world series I in the first two rounds combined do it too in there sitting for the beds a one-out walk and travel a flair hit to right-center by Payton after Abbott grounded out Leiter drop-down a bun and error on the floor at a slow roller now Fonzo pops it up right side this guy you know Leiter's saying love it I'll drop one down and put pressure on the defense that work too tired back after this from your local Fox station Al Leiter finished running the bases now he's back to the hill third inning two two on the Mets lead coming up tonight and every night is the 11 p.m. regional sports report on Fox Sports Net 30 minutes of nightly Sports News completely dedicated to local home team to check out the 11 p.m. regional sports report nightly only on Fox Sports Net on your local cable or satellite provider before the start of the third inning let's go down to Keith Olbermann Keith Joe Al Leiter was about halfway to the plate from the on-deck circle before that bunch when he realized he had the wrong bat his head not sure what he liked about the other one looked like I had a little bit more pine tar on it but there exists a possibility he has a bunting bat Joe alright Keith as it is to the one that's there and breaking ball misses to Brosius four go on Brosius that Pettit and Vizcaino for the Yankees at a short-lived one-run lead broken bat conseal nobody in baseball can chew up bats like out lighter we were kidding in the NLCS it should be out lighter who signs a bat contract and here is changing bats to you suggested his bunting back Lichter certainly familiar with hitting being a nationally good German Andy pettite just walked to the plate with his jacket on he saw that too had to get hauled back from the bench he had his his warm-up jacket on as he got near the batter's box and had to go back and give it to the batboy before taking his it back no balls one strike strike two inhibitor shot stop thinking - on credit oh four five at the plate this season during it 1 & 2 strike out for a lighter at bunt by a lighter not only got the first run-in got the second one in to get an error on the place of two unearned runs two big ones for the Mets down three games to one runners on at first and third make that second and third and Leiter finds the seam between the pitcher Andy Pettitte and the first baseman Tino Martinez momentary juggle but if Andy holds on to it they just get lighter now two out nobody on this condom go on you're right about that Papa there is a timing play right there and that momentary juggle in the bare hand of Martinez threw off the timing of cutter one ball one strike growing up a bench fan in Toms River New Jersey Tim talked about during the opening that Al Leiter was originally a Yankee wound his way eventually into a Mets uniform not only they're number one or number one a starter with the bench this season but very active in the community Roberto Clemente award for the work that he does off the field strike two out nobody on this guy you know take strike two just on the corner with this guy you know back-to-back strikeouts in the third four on the night for Al Leiter the Subway Series continues tonight Game five and after 2 and a half 2 to 1 Mets Al Leiter talking to his catcher Mike Piazza after the top of the third inning even if he pitches well here tonight we'll be talking about that fun first thing and then he'll talk about the way fish inside of Piazza with seal and Ventura to fall - no on the Bexley bottom of the third hang the Yankees their twenty-sixth world championship one strike you got to muscle the ball up the middle for a base hit his first time up Mariana will be a factor tonight to the left side for Brosius thought out if Mariana Ribera is called upon late in the game obviously we have to be Lloyd the Yankees on top Joe Torre telling us that it will be for one inning and one inning only and could change but son that's unlikely because the Mets are the Yankees have a 3-1 lead and go against that this early in the series definitely a different style to managing this game for Joe Jory opposed for obvious reasons but go on with what you say about Rivera he worked two innings last night through a lot of pitches and that would be probably the main reason why Joe Torre would be unwilling strengths to a nonzero bounced into a force out his first time up so on - to conseal who is managed by Joe Torre for the early years of his career in st. Louis some thin years for the st. Louis Cardinals Joe Torre and Todd Zeile left st. Louis the same day at 95 that's on the inside corner and strikeout number two for Andy Pettitte over pole so seal is gone that's the second out here in the third inning Joe Torre was first hired here in New York the headlines were unkind to the hiring selection of George Steinbrenner bringing jewelry to New York he advantage with the Mansi and managed with Atlanta and Shirin grounds to the right side backhanded staff on his Guyana after that time in st. Louis he certainly had the weapons to work with starting in 96 for the Yankees they want three or four World Championships it's the st. Paul companies trivia question who was the last player to steal home in a World Series game Tim you're exempt from this you've been around a lot longer than Bob will help Bob I leave this one up to you Derek Jeter first of all outside it was obviously somebody with blazing speed an alert baserunner hits up baserunner wills or Ricky Henderson somebody that can really burn down the bases one ball no strikes Jeter you know the answer this by the way let's look at the report okay Derek Jeter the cutter gets inside on Derek that's where American league pitchers is what they try to do is working inside is the most animated picture in baseball once he releases the ball and before he releases the ball David Justice now with one out nobody on inside drives justice off the plate and again as Leiter did with O'Neill back in the second he moves a lefty off the plate he did it to Paul O'Neill twice now to David Justice Hales talking about that very back in the second talking to Roger Clemens of all people down in the Yankee dugout Roger Clemens wondering if he will get another turn this season he is the scheduled starter for in six of necessary on Saturday night two balls no strikes justice goes the other way takes care of the first two retired by Al Leiter stay with the pitching beam and look at the game six starters if necessary the Yankees lead this best-of-seven three-games to one Mike Hampton against Roger Clemens a rematch from Game two Clemens was fantastic two hits taken out after eight said his back stiffened up on him a little bit struck out nine walked no one threw 112 pitches here's Bernie Williams who top put over the board's back in the second for the only Yankee Ronnie takes ball one funny about the scoring in this game so far Bernie Williams has hit one about 395 feet of the Yankee run and the two runs scored by the Mets went accumulative 140 feet left side through the whole Williams two for two and this top of the fourth inning continues Abbott and Ventura did not have a big hole between them that ball had enough topspin hikage sway to the outfield for Tino Martinez one on two-out Martinez flied to left his first time up he is hit an all for World Series game so far mismatched up we wicked on left hitters choose him up Tino Martinez over the top of the cutter 14 for 116 on the year were left-handers off out Leiter for a $1.99 a a verge opposite field the a two-out hit by Williams Martinez foul for the match you related bottom of the fourth inning now in the Mets bat Bubba Trammell who walked and scored his first time up leads off against Andy Pettitte and say strike one over the inside corner Tramell then Payton and Abbott anybody gets on Al Leiter very to the back for the second time tonight the st. Paul companies trivia question who was the last player to steal home in a World Series game let's roll the tape Rebecca October 1964 Tim McCarver on your left whose battery mate Bob Gibson that's maxvill swinging and missing that's our buddy Mike Shanin on the front end and it's Tim McCarver Game seven of the World Series in 64 stealing mom the last player to do it does that count back in the double stay absolute nice slide by Mike Shanin at second base by the way we went in one on nobody out to check on travel by the way the last straight steal of home here's your wondering Jackie Robinson Game one of the 1955 World Series and yogi still contends that he was out one on nobody out here and jpeg weights single and scored his first time off he floated a hit his shallow right on the plate Trammell stopped at second then after Abbott broke his bat grounded weakly to short the runners moved up to second and third Leiter drop-down a bunt error to score run that play to tie it second that's it ball hit by paper score at four six talk about Jackie Robinson here is Jackie Robinson and Yogi's reaction ripping off his mask and to this day contends that he was oh it does indeed over 42 retired throughout baseball for the late Jackie Robinson here's Kurt Abbott The Bachelor runner at first painted one out these meds the leads that these Mets are taking at first on a step and a half to steps of the most you confuse the base runner at first with the first base coach they're right next to one another Aminah stood by play Abbot's got a little pop in his Betty it's six home runs during the regular season but hit only 217 was bothered by a bad back this problem back there so far this postseason he's 1 out of 11 we don't want to mix lead bottom on the fourth here in game five we can't use Kurt Abbott a hard-nosed player as a World Series ring to his credit his ex manager Jim Leyland who is no longer managing for Tyler Russa the st. Louis Cardinals something that Bob brought up earlier it's already paid Benny Agbayani in the leadoff spot more of an RBI man the chimo ferret this an important event for habitat he could get the top spot its Agbayani the first base open now working on his bunting right there with first base open there's no way you could pitch around act by honey because Edgardo Alfonzo would be the hitter with the bases loaded three balls two strikes Andy pettite in 1973 around here filling this stadium 3 1 with the shattered back a semi-smile from derek jeter as this crowd reacts to Derek with the business end of that shattered back look like Garrett County got caught up in the front of it with his glove down there member Roger Clemens almost caught it in his glove and after Jeter handed it to the batboy his crowd erupted with applause we have another situation cuts three-two-one out the pitcher on deck a running situation Bobby Valentine did not do with Bubba Trammell Oh see if he does it with Peyton running his habit fouls it out of play there's Jeter fighting back a smile with all that happened in Game two thankfully the focus has returned to the game of baseball and not what went on on the mound we saw the reaction of Andy Pettitte II your first instinct is to follow the flight of the ball and then your peripheral vision you see the barrel of the bat coming your direction Pettit bottle was a lot closer than it was so again a 3-2 pitch doesn't run and again a foul oh boy this is got you shaking your head yeah I don't understand I mean if he does run and there's a hit to the outfield Payton goes to 30s we at first running situation also if you don't run and a ball is hit relatively hard and a middle infielder third base DoublePlay pitcher leads off the next inning the move of the picture should have nothing happy but it only underlines yet again the effect that Andy pettite and that moon has on the running game yeah and the Mets are overreacting as a result in my view of the 70 pitches that's two on one out second walk handed out by Freddie terrific it better it last time battle wider runners on at second and third and two outs where the münster into nothing mishandled by both Martinez and Petitte Petitte charged with an error had tied it egg by a nice hit with the meant ahead expects a bunt here first and second is Tino Martinez sneaked in behind is the guy who makes as Tino Martinez Norma of Abbot cause the play is on he's behind it and Kurt Abbott is dead that changes the a liner waits for the first pitch I'm breaking balls in for strike one Larry scuse me got to be a little Larry whenever a first baseman is behind you in that situation reason for that in a bunting situation runners on at first you're in first the first baseman is always in front of you when he's behind yourself it's on boys runner at second two out neo2 delighted and this game is through for Game five finish with putting there's the pickup Pittsburgh and after four still two to one match this copyrighted telecast is presented by authority of the Commissioner baseball and may not be reproduced or retransmitted in any form accounts descriptions of this game may not be disseminated without expressed written consent of Major League Baseball 5th inning now those two are becoming fast friends Billy Crystal but ceiling we crystal putting a movie together that involves Julia Roberts maybe there's a role somewhere for bud Paul O'Neill leads it off here in the fifth egg O'Neal Posada Brosius we talked about how lighters dominance against left-handed hitters this year Game one Tino Martinez and Paul Tannen hitters got two singles in the second inning against out lighter what's so great about that the only time that two left-handed hitters have gotten hits against Leiter in the same inning this year it's too far inside two and one the combination of justice Martinez and O'Neill check into this game combined average of 173 lifetime against Al Leiter three out of nine to hit left-handed pitching well this season for the Yankees Lichter can handle these lefties O'Neill that's why lighter works O'Neill inside you Paul becomes so conscious in the temptu swing it l spoiled it mine are not only hand in handling lefties in that first game right-handers were only two out of 16 and lighter was it line for the win until Armando Benitez blew the save at the night all state too far inside full count Neal was at that pitches person - combination of a heavy bag lighter keepin the ball left field up the middle Abbot to his left starts to argue Lee Miceli getting Paul the first place now Jojo especially since he's been so hot another look fine played by Abbott growing on the run close see why O'Neal was arguing Flagg he beat the blood Lee Mazzilli the first base coach for the Yankees what's that sensor on when it's a guy like Paul O'Neill on a close players Posada the left field one of the most temperamental players in part he's an intense player he knew that an argument was coming right there Mazzilli came in in the first move for Mazzilli was see a forearm to the chest of O'Neill to get him out of the way it was very close and the Yankees did not get the call a lot on fire on plays like that those gloves are so big that's really how you have to make the runner is safe if the sound of the glove beats the sound of the bag the runners out now a check on Posada is on with one out for Brosius who's over one after Brosius and Pettit inside corners right piazzas glug continuing to move after he makes the catch of the pitch and that's a very good point Joe because what that means is the action on Leiter's pitches and cutter is continuing once it lands in the mid that's always a good sign for a pitcher when that glove continues to wiggle to the right side first too late and it's a runner at second two out with Bennett coming up Brosius grounds out to Zeile unassisted and Posada safe at second by played by Zeile who makes the play sno-cones in a bed steps on the bag and then the high throw Posada safe Posada it looked like slit too late in the second base Jam to need perhaps from those plays where as a runner you don't know exactly what's going on behind you as you're running to second base you don't know whether seals going to throw to second for the force out whether he has gone to the bag to make the tag now it's betted with a runner in second and that's a ground ball by inches inches from tying this game in the about four inches that's where it landed it's clearly foul I'm Andy Bennett brought only one bat with him from the Bronx he's gonna have to borrow on for it shaking those bees out right now we laugh but that is his pitching hand yeah you have to go back out and take the mound that may be a factor in his control top of the order will bat for the Mets in the bottom of this fish what will the score be 2 to 1 Mets right now runner at second two out should stay that way Alphonso hands of Andy Pettitte he'll go back to the mound we'll take a rest for the moment he's doing his job halfway through it to know on this ajuna one Mets lead bottom of the fifth inning in game 5 this week on America's favorite pregame show cherry sits down with folks quarterback Peyton Manning to get his thoughts about life on and off the field plus the Vikings are off to a 7 o start find out the quiet reason behind their undefeated season so far join JB Terry Howie Chris plus Jimmy and Jillian for the wildest NFL pregame show on TV Fox NFL Sunday at noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific only on Fox rub it back for Andy Pettitte hit the ball off the end of the bat foul down the third base line then grounds out to second base another ball hit right off the end of the bat see the reaction both hands full of bees right now home plate umpire Tim McClellan actually gave headed a little extra time to regroup before he began to throw his warmup pitches but he seemed to be able to control the ball and throw within the strike zone at least it is a warmup pitches so on by ani walks in top of the order for the Mets the Fonzo and Piazza to follow on by Ani an RBI single did that back in the second right one on my on e at his 13 game postseason hitting streak stopped here last night Benny Agbayani stations here from Hawaii he's the lead story on the nightly news he fouls it back in its own to bene received a call from x-men Sid Fernandez the left-hander pitching for the 1986 World Championship net day before the series garden hog biani went that's one third strikeout for probably telling Benny beware of that slider in the dirt out of the strike zone Benny going to so one out and then garner Alfonso will try to get something going this is as big a story as the Mets have right now what has happened to Alfonso he hasn't liked his approach at the plate said he came to the game yesterday with a different mindset but he was still hitless last night no for three he's old for two tonight left a couple of runners on back in second he's 2 out of 18 in this series all-star second baseman one of the best players in the game cheater another one of the best players the games right here's Piazza the Yankees are doing such a good job on a guard Oh Alphonso and when Mike Piazza comes up normally it's with nobody on the advanced scouting done by the Yankees for this World Series and they started early like most teams did knowing they were going to be in postseason the advanced scouting gun it was so strong throughout their entire organization seemingly it Piazza goes into left-center field well hey the advance scouts to CAIR paris they found a way to help these Yankee pitchers deal with Alfonzo but Piazza now 2 out of 3 tonight and 6 out of 20 in this world series breaking ball on the inside part of the plate talk about how now lighter found the seam on the infield between the dinger in the first baseman Piazza finds one in left-center I really think that breaking ball to Mike Piazza is a dangerous pitch because generally it ends up down around the knees or lower and as we mentioned earlier he's in tenshun a walk here for seal to put two on with two odd for Ventura and this is easy decision for Joe Torre most good local good off-speed hitters because most off-speed pitches have to be down zeal is over to tonight but 8 out of 19 in this World Series hitting the ball extremely well and vet tourism for two tonight under 180 for the entire postseason you'll get a chance with two on two out the only left-handed batter this season that is home on Vandy cut before Robin Ventura can make that plain coming back on June 10 strike one beyond Cecile the runners that it blew it by of 91 miles per hour on to mence and that's outside numbers for Ventura and his career against Bennett 5 out of 19 way justice back so the intentional walk to Zeile after the devil by Piazza works Ventura is open 3 after 5 five 2 to 1 Mets one wiser blimp in its eye on the sky camera I'm proud to provide you with these live shots 1,000 feet above Jays Stadium throughout New York tonight's Game five of the World Series while baseball fans this Bud's for you a lighter back to the hill top of the order for the Yankees Vizcaino Jeter and justice 2 to 1 Mets down three games to one stays grounded out struck out one of the heroes back in one ball one strike Game one in clues including the game-winner in the twelfth inning josé has gone over ten since then liners stamp it we want to send along condolences and our prayers to the Brian Cashman family we understand the general manager for the Yankees Brian Cashman is not here his wife Mary's mother Barbara President died today so he is not at the ballpark today with his family and we're thinking of them what a job Brian Cashman has done Bob Watson set the foundation for this Yankee run a general manager as Jeter stands who's on Watson's watch the cheater was brought to the big leagues for Brian Cashman instrumental in helping the Yankees get back here some of the retooling that he did they're in the middle part of the season really paid off and David Justice is at the top of that way enjoyed with getting Sammy Sosa worked out a deal if it was agreed to by Juan Gonzalez but they went to justice and justice ended up bidding 41 home runs driving at 118 the eyes after he was acquired I failed my time the first pitch Knox Jeter on the hit the ball out Leiter kicked the ground Newell was gone hitting streak the derrick jeeter a to to score in the top of the sixth inning that's on the corner one and two quiet talk the ah the bases at Yankee to win this game just as wet two out interestingly both homeruns the Yankees have hit tonight we're in about the same spot any Williams in the second inning about bottom of the letters inside part Derek Jeter bottom of the letters inside part same results Williams at the plate now he made it one to nothing with that long ball back in the second Jeter just tied it to there's one inside - a No that's in the bottom of the sixth inning will have Trammell Payton and AB is tried to come inside twice and Williams has made him pay twice you'll come back in there especially with the count two balls no strikes low to make it 3 No Joe Torre will allow Bernie Williams to swing away on the 300 count choose your pitch no you talked earlier about how animated out Leiter is out there on the mound probably the most animated player in the big leagues great shots back in the fourth inning after the base hit by Bernie good thing he has ears or you pulled that hat all the way down to his shoulders here's Tino Martinez with one on two out a check on blowing now lighter does not have a great pickoff move Bernie Williams does not have a good mood to second base either only 13 stolen bases one of the big reasons why is not a good base stealer his legs are too long and makes him fleet in the outfield and once he gets underway he can track down balls that have enough hang time he has a tough time generating speed from a standstill at first base Tino Martinez is over - he's flied to left is fouled out to third that's a blonde a one-run lead here in the 6th inning too far inside a ball a strike all O'Neill next either here in the sixth or leading off the seventh by Al Leiter to appeal down to the third-base umpire Charlie Reliford finally he did it Releford said that Martinez held his swing and a strike runner at first with two out he's making noise here in the 6th inning Jeter tied it with a homer a two-out walk to Williams to the three ball one strike count on Tino Martinez came into this game hitting 87 of the postseason on the corner full count take off the first for the shortstop habit damage is done Derek Jeter is putting together figures in the World Series event December grades in the history in this game he goes deep the sixth inning in Game five these two left-handers making their final starts of the 2000 season as Petitte missed the inside corner with ball one to Bubba Trammell will be Trammell Payton and Abbott 2 to game bottom of the sixth inning now that's facing elimination here tonight staring at another world championship on a backhand Jeter attack my Tina we said earlier that Tino Martinez saves the Yankee infield a ton of errors of the course of a year and here's another one quick tag to get the sliding travel we're heads-up baserunning by Bubba Trammell the only time you should slide into first base is to avoid that tag and he recognized that quickly and tried to get inside underneath the tank Pitino got him on the back as he went by to one out the batter is painted maybe bloody his nose look like now perhaps not ball one to bait over the years we have seen all sorts of bad things happen baserunners who dive in the first base like that Dave Holland to the Phil dislocated thumb getting often last year separated shoulder position blood art headband base hit Payton is on with one on here in the 6th inning but Scott Brosius playing that no doubles defense at third base law comes up on him woman he does slap it down it's a gonna be a base hit knocks it down to prevent pate going to second base we talked about this infield surface before Game three one of the tougher in fields to play in all of baseball a lot of bad hops on the grass as well as a dirt it is a hit and now it's abot Joe for one he was walked his last time up then picked off strike one got Abbott up now and then the pitcher Al Leiter we'll be next based situation Bobby Valentine telling us before the series started that his runners against Petitte would perhaps trying to steal third if they were on second but forget about stealing second base here to spawn the number 8 hitter up one would typically try something like that five bases during the regular season no balls two strikes one on Emma stays up there head run on for the Mets first base with one out ball one to Abbott on September 24th and eco one is 100 to get surprised fifteen Yankee starters have 100k temperature has been dropping as this game is worn on 61 degrees in the start of the night one ball two strikes on Kurt Abbott that's fun abbit in the lineup tonight taking the place of the injured and struggling Mike bordick bothered by that sore right dump bothered him last night was bothered in throughout this postseason numbers aren't good for Mike will be a free agent at the end of the year when will the end of the year be tonight in the 1 2 to Abbott foot off the toes of the left foot nobody's warming for the myths if that does get ahead pitten gets the third it's going to be an interesting decision for Bobby Valentine with a man on third base in less than two outs but with nobody warming I was tapped the lent liner hit for itself one to two of the - hips in the inning lighter walks in the last time / nabek was on first base with one out pink was on it Andy Petitte and Tino Martinez our tennis was he meant the time whenever that first baseman's behind you you're the runner at first there's a runner on at second base beware Andy pettite picked him off situation right here now Martinez in front of Abbott Throwdown this Derek Jeter was there and the Yankees nearly picked off their second baserunner of the night that matter punched through the ball it's an automatic pickoff attempt you know one of your middle infielders will be there at the bag to cover and Jorge Posada comes out of the chute puts the ball right on the money only good baserunning by Jay Payton allows get back in ahead of the I'll tell you to play here the brochures to charge in to go to Jeter at second base because Abbott is playing is very conservative at first base it's to Martinez the sacrifice works three for a second and third with two out other thing you have to do on this play is to get one out I'm necessarily believe Martinez was thinking about that but see Brosius has charged in bringing to the Fed penis Texas you're out much easier for a left-handed draw first-base Keith was part of the ceremonial first pitch here tonight one of the best ever at that particular play right up to 100 pitches at number one and in Giordani RBI tonight attitude second - out - Oh count on my eye in this situation so far the post I'm by Ani 5 out of 10 in his career against Andy Pettitte that was a key pitch right there the count goes to 3 & 1 at bayani could be a little cheesy but a check swing on the cutter right that's a big strike right there now bottom strike zone but it steps off as Payton flashed down the line third Oh they strand two they've left eight a 2-2 game after six Bengal their local Fox station scam goes to the seventh ending this they were bringing the tailgate party to you with NFL this morning on Fox Sports Net a full two hours of morning madness to get you ready for kickoff Chris Myers leads the NFL this morning breakfast punch for Chuck talk trash talk bagels and doughnuts and in committee and Jay Mohr and you get the most raucous and rocking Sunday morning pregame show anywhere NFL this morning this Sunday at 10 a.m. Eastern 7:00 Pacific only on Fox Sports Net on your local cable or satellite provider seventh inning of Game five and Al Leiter back to work Paul O'Neill Jorge Posada and Scott Brosius the 6 7 and 8 hitters will bat for the Yankees O'Neill hitless tonight hitting all of the first four games his struck out he's grounded out more one not in front one ball one strike Joe I was interested in your question to Joe Torre before the game a good cutter from Leiter a one doneall about whether Paul O'Neill is going to come back next year or not and Joe said quite candidly it's his call he can play for me that's a quote for Torre before the game two balls in a strength said Paul O'Neill has decided whether he's going to even play anywhere next year this is his kids during the season is winding up his career one of these years this might be it according to Tori two balls two strikes where you are I talked about that loyalty between these two and Joe Torre is as big a fan Paul O'Neill camp loyalty pays off vesting so far nine out of 18 in this world series it is paid off looking for pitch to hammer here on three one Oh Yankees put the leadoff man on here the seventh-inning it was the one out 10 pitch long to Paul O'Neill that allowed the Yankees to eventually tie the game in the ninth inning against Armando Benitez that was one if one find out if you Posada has not sacrificed all go ahead run it first to the Yankees with no money out for sada one out of two tonight got Posada up now Brosius on deck and then the pitchers spot there is action for the Yankees out of their bullpen Neil stays at first here's Al Leiter talking about pitching to this New York Yankee lineup they have so many guys in that lineup that that could care less if they're two strikes out now pitch is off go deep in and count that makes it a lot more difficult on the pitcher because you realize that every pitch has to be a quality pitch and I just I respect all of them and understand and know that they have a good game plan against me they know mine what I'm trying to do and I also know what what they're all about so that's the whole fun or the cat mouse if it's your catcher hitting one on one out here pitcher liner catcher Piazza hitter brush 273 averages Knobloch starts to get ready and now takes the batting glove off with Andy pettite knee on-deck-circle he was going to be the one still may if the situation is right one ball one strike but Pettit is out in the on deck circle there's a runner on at first and Joe Torre elects to use a pinch-hitter you'll probably go to Glenallen Hill for extra-base power if he needs a single if O'Neill's on it second you'll go to Knobloch we heard that from Al Leiter he said prior to yesterday's game I've already fun Jeff Nelson's getting loose already thought about their lineup pretty sure what their lineups going to be no one I'm going to throw to the first hitter I've thought it through already one ball one strike Tramell throw it off bet it stays in the game this time he remembers to take his jacket off performing things and would one-on-two away top of the seventh inning Andy Pettit who is old for two tonight including the postseason with the regular season old for seven on the air he stands in not Joe Torre true to his word telling us that he wants to get seven innings at least out of Andy Pettitte he's gotten six that's why he's hitting here gennadiy Al Leiter hitting book strike one outliner doesn't move around all that well he had arthroscopic left knee surgery about a year ago right after the season ended for the Mets when their season came to a close after Game six in Atlanta of the League Championship Series didn't offer at it crowd here does not agree did he pull it back in time I think so yeah good call one ball one strike count bets in the bottom of the seventh-inning will have Alfonzo Piazza and sealed besides the I believe leave all different shapes and sizes same message on the corner one and two been bringing signs into this ball park since 1964 was 1962 team managed by casey stengel zeal I'm is stretch casey stengel talking about the fan support and the signs with the early days for your generality I even have to stop and look at it I think I made 15 mistakes this year reason the placards instead of watching the picture or watching the hitters to take my man out now I'll have to say another thing about it they're sticking with it flying overhead the bud 1 airship joining us for this world series one of the coolest nights of this world series but wiser the official beer of Major League Baseball and the 2000 Subway Series man's helping to put this Subway Series back on track and send it to the Bronx this is the best half inning for them to Bill it to with the meat of their lineup piazzas seal again standing pen game one start for Andy pettite the seventh inning is when into trouble against the Mets after a quick guy to gave up back-to-back singles he walked a man pinch-hit single to drive in a couple runs later in the here's how Fonz over the count of one ball one strike leading off that's have scored in only two of the last 15 inning second ending tonight and the third inning last night other than that dominating pitching from the world champs to to to a function now bonds are very good lowball hitter as he proves right here this is what situations where you do not guard the line you hope that Piazza hits a ground ball he hit middle infielders Piazza tonight against three with a single a double rare chance for three this is a very very difficult pitching situation that it runs the cutter in we've got a lowball hitter at the plate and to get the ground ball you have to keep the ball down expect him to go back outside the Piazza to trying to ice the ground ball he came in there the third time third time Piazza was ready top hands that one the former 60 second round pick of the Dodgers at 19 wait one on nobody out 2 2 game game 5 over 2000 World Series this is Swank by Piazza you can tell by the body language right there Mike Piazza disappointed in Vista Alfonzo two balls two Mike Piazza the on-field leader for this Mets team during the season 113 runs batted in and a centerfield big out picked up by Andy Pettitte as he retires beyond sir for the second time tonight at some job on pitching by Andy Pettitte after missing sad with the first pitch balls in this up and in the backdoor swag fine job of pitching by Andy pettite it's one thing to have a scouting report on a hitter how you want to go about getting him out it's another thing to execute it as well as Andy Pettitte did right there to Mike Piazza now it's shield seventh inning a 2-2 game seal tonight is struck out and fit intentionally walked strike one it is rare when time seal goes up and swings at the first pitch particularly if it's a breaking ball he swung in fewer first pitches than any other national leaguer across your application three home runs in his career against Andy Pettitte nicely played by Posada ball one good glove work by Posada like a first base gun shield the world series started Bobby Valentine told us that he would hit run with todd zeile more than any other men obviously a hit front count but he's been reluctant to run a Zeile took strike to two balls two strikes twenty-one pitches on the night for Andy pettite the chiptune walk out third situation at Valentine read to the couch you have to sit in the other two times two I'm warning signal strikes up it's up to Ventura the curve tightly rep it is Alvah turn one talking about trusting or stuffed with Andy Bennett going to a 3-2 curveball visit that the truth it's inside a ball and a strike on Ventura who is 3 out of 19 in this World Series Andy pettite working in the seventh Travel has been on base twice tonight waits on deck let's down the line think they'll send the runner here yes okay this checking three balls two strikes runner at first two outs and goes without saying Tino Martinez playing behind him but because of the pickoff of Kurt Abbott earlier you can play behind him now because Alphonse is not going to retune Ventura strikes out and Andy Petitte threw seven strong in it back-to-back strikeouts to end the seventh five on the night to left-handers coming in tonight Andy Pettitte through seven and eight Chuck Knobloch will be the pinch-hitter bat for Vizcaino to start this eighth-inning take on Al Leiter a 2-2 game so now block Jeter and justice this kinda hold for three while he was in there and or one Knobloch was not in the game last night pinch-hit to start the night bigot the single against Benitez and in all probability Chuck will take the strike off Leiter either guides one of their two balls a strike number 104 is ball three to number empty that's bullpen empty is lighter brings on the 3-1 now big rip on table sometimes you take that - okay you're going to get a fastball down the middle three and one pictures thinking you're taking again do it again now block trying to jumpstart the offense here in the eighth-inning preacher the answer that was not easy Knobloch went after ball for number one Mike Piazza went alone for that ball to come down eyes as wide as saucers that was close now Jeter who's 1 for 3 tonight with a home run since letting that time this game tonight groaning Williams back in the second one out the sixth inning to tie the game Lichter keeps it away from ball one Trust is next two balls no strikes one Derek Jeter only twenty-six years old talked about the World Series now versity is piling up sit an 18 of the 19 World Series games participated in it on top of that a 14 game hitting streak with that home run back the sixth now John Franco's working to the last two games and getting loose for the Mets in their bullpen - one to Jeter - - managers have telltale when a pitcher still has his stuff for powered away to one fastball of the Czech slang so white is still throwing the ball very very well top of the aid to to score a 2 2 pitch to number 2 right Leiter very demonstrative on the mound he wanted this pitch but it was low coming to cheater while you are seeing too many performances by any the checks one pitch you can see that ball cutting in with that tight spin to get Derek Jeter with a second out now into our David Justice takes ball one justice is grounded out flied out struck out - 4:18 in his world can't make the play and continue ball stayed down a lot of times on a ball like that guys in the dugout will say stay down stay down and fall stay down lighter anger with himself out there on the mound that ball was not hit particularly hard he didn't make much of an effort to make the play on the mound that made it a tough play for Kurt Abbott up the middle have given justice a hit now and one on two out out to the bound is Dave Wallace Bernie Williams tonight has had the best night of any Yankee at the plate against Al Leiter he homered in the second singled in the fourth walked in the sixth he came into this game old 415 and he'll get a chance to face Leiter again Dave Wallace going out to the mound to talk to Al Leiter and obviously there's none of one none of those how are you feeling type of thing it was how to pitch the Bernie Williams he is hurting twice bass balls cutters inside walked his last time up he's with two out all keys have built the three games to one lead going all 4:15 to the first four game tonight put - the second for the home five the signal walk in the sixth the a and it's a one ball one strike Tito Martinez on deck for the Yankees for the Mets at the bottom of his eighth inning it will be Trammell Payton and Abbott the 6 7 and 8 hitters with Leiter due up fourth get the feeling that Al Leiter is going to try to give Williams out away if he makes a mistake away it's just a single inside long ball two balls in the strike that pitch inside and then go back outside lighter giving us much she does bring in the ball to the plate Williams hops out of there you don't see that too often home plate umpire Tim McClellan because Bernie Williams was not looking up is ready to pitch and McClellan went up to protect Bernie Williams who got him out of the batter's box I am John two and one we welcome you back to Shea Stadium bottom of the 8th inning still a 2-2 game this Sunday catch the best professional figure skaters in the world as they compete in the grand slam super teams of skating Brian Boitano Katerina vit Brian Orser and Nicole Bobek headline a star-studded field of olympic and world champions it's round one of the grand slam super teams of skating this Sunday on Fox check local listings for the start time in your area we Soho takes over at second base this guy you know pitch in for by Knobloch and uh Knobloch is gone and now pitching is Mike Stanton after seven strong innings from Andy Pettitte allowing two runs on eight met hit Joe Jory did make the double switch meaning that Soho the new second baseman will ban the number nine spot pitchers in the number one spot and it might be the one time where you don't protect the pitcher but you protect your only we don't know how it's going to play out so who is the last infielder the Yankees head so the Yankees can't pinch-hit for the pensioner is necessary Princeton's are so all against Benitez magic Bubba Trammell against Mike Stanton World Series numbers are staggering breaking ball is over but low ball one as an ER a of 1.08 against the Mets since 1997 11 innings pitched three hits with 13 strikeouts one ball one strike a tremble as the Mets bat here in the eighth inning realized that as a team they're hitting 237 in this world series the order is that graphic show right spot in this Mets lineup tonight that's backing out of play strike two I'd like to correct something I said I said the Yankees were out of infielders they do have played Bellinger as an infielder he has been flip-flopped on the outfield and the infield so Bellinger is of so I want travel to the left side brochures to his left good boy keep in mind that Scott Brosius was guarding the line against travel at a long way to range to make the blood nice is JP 2 out of 3 tonight 17 home runs during this is first full year in the big leagues twenty-seven-year-old rookie three armed operations while he was in the minor leagues finding his way to get to this level batting with one out eighth inning of a 2-2 game 85 taking ball one Andy Pettitte is seven innings tonight two runs on earth one in one on pate abbit the shortstop next straight back and straight to 93 miles per hour the velocity has been impressive for bikes and is both season even though Mike Stanton is a left-hander as of course Andy Pettitte is he has a different style of pitching it goes a four-seam rising fastball in a curveball a bigger one than Petitte whereas Petitte throws the cutter and sinker also you saw the splitter grip Stanton will use that occasionally also so a different type pitcher than Andy Petitte one two balls two strikes that was the splinter they're hanging outside the one thing you do not want in this situation is to get beat with anything but your best pitch he's got two of them fastball art curb - to paint it looked like a splitter out of the strike zone and an anxious Jay Payton goes down to the second out here in the eighth tumbling splitter out of the strike zone one song we have not heard tonight by the way is who let the dogs out the dogs are still in that a category of a good or a bad thing okay's if you're a Mets fan it's a bad thing because when they're winning dogs come out here comes Billy Connors out to talk Bobby talked about these numbers at the start of the night this bullpen trying to stay strong here in game 5 basically it's been a three-man bullpen this year for Joe Torre Jake is Jeff Nelson Mike standing on the mound right now and of course Mariano Rivera to close them out doc Gooden and Jason Grimsley two other pitchers in the bullpen I've not seen action in this World Series and David Cohen faced this is one hitter Mike Piazza in the fifth inning last night happened now with two out nobody on ball one on deck is the venture lighter not Pratt with his batting helmet on ball one strike on Abbot mats have sprinkled onto their roster a couple of emergency catchers in Todd Zeile Joe McKuen perhaps a possibility off the bench right now the one 1 & 2 just blowing the ball the Yankees in the ninth inning will have Tino Martinez Paul O'Neill and Jorge Posada for one two pitch Georgia in - right goes to the ninth day Yankees up three games to one this game tied 2-2 well they only change its not on the mound it's out in right field Timo Perez takes over for Bubba Trammell so they improve their defense out and right the same guy all about Al Leiter ninth-inning 121 pitches on the night he's gone through 8 2 runs five hints post-season high by the a liner goes to work in the ninth inning trying to keep it to two big bats for the Yankees Tino Martinez first up he's over three to Martina's strike out to the lighter you seems to be improving as the game goes deeper at cutter and nasty and Tino Martinez punched out by Charlie Reliford the third-base umpire now it's Paul O'Neill adding 500 out of 18 a walk tonight the only time he's been on down the left-field now bases empty O'Neil Yankees in the night writer making terrific - I know like hang in there Mike as the answer just couldn't squeeze if the heel of the glove instead of the pocket of the glove and O'Neill stays alive get out of play O'Neil struck out on a foul tip back in the second that Beyonce grabbed see the intensity part of these two players a lighter Paul O'Neill their emotions in this situation why would you ninth-inning a 2-2 game the World Series Yankees they're 26 world nine strikeouts and three in a row any through five strikes you O'Neill the first one the next one a foul ball now Posada in this world series one RBI during the regular season at 28 a prebuilt defense if you ever saw one third baseman on the line to prevent the double-a ball down the line the outfield is deep Al Leiter is due to lead off this ninth-inning one ball one strike on Posada even down three games to one they handed the ball to a lighter for tonight's start is not disappointed teammates are these fans and two and one in the top of the age the first two hitters in this ninth-inning he's 2 & 2 on Posada defensive swing from Posada posada struck out 151 times during the regular season number one the five in this 2,000 probably thinking how can Posada take this very close Wow that's exactly what Victor is on the line a two-on-one the top of the ninth inning continues as Posada reaches for the second time tonight Brosius will bat Barna Scott brushes his effort against the Padres the World Series of 1998 in that series when he hit 471 that was his second home run of bat game he's on top of chef John Franco up in Brooklyn rooting for the Mets warming in the for 140 on the night we show home would be next in a the baseship on with two out a lot ice for Brosius his first hit of the night and brushes pulls one opening up for that cutter but now the outfield will move into normal depth and the one thing you can do against Luis Soho is playing shallow in right field Posada is not a fast runner and if soho hits it hard to the opposite field paris has a very very good arm and there could be a plan to play so with two on two out Louisa ho a bet outliner with a season-high on the night that continues Frank on the bullpen that's Oh so innocently with the two-out walk the two-out hit by Brosius charging the flow rumors easily from the field meeting to bases if the ball goes in the dugout grown by a fielder as you can see Brosius between second and third so he scores after Posada draw was online but Piazza block the play it's for shuttle and the mechs but to you as they take a 42 ninth-inning lead Valentine out to the middle part of the talk to the second base umpire ed Montague where the runner should be its the upper throws the ball and hits the runner and goes into the dugout there are two bases awarded as you can see in the background Scott Brosius was halfway between second and third I think that's what Bobby was talking it here's the throw again sonna it goes into the dugout and here's Brosius right here you can
