fancy doing some fishing need to fast travel whilst encumbered or perhaps you just want to be able to steal things from right in front of people's faces we've got all that covered and More in today's spoiler-free video Starfield keeps on surprising us with newly discovered secrets and game mechanics that nobody knew about before so today I'm gonna run through 15 of those hidden features and game-changing tips that you probably didn't know about number one as well as having animals that can be only found in certain biomes on planets and even some flying creatures did you know that there are also aquatic creatures on some planets that can only be found in the sea find a landing area that is directly on the edge of an ocean and you'll see it's marked as being Coastal land at one of these areas head in the direction of the sea and you may well find some unique swimming creatures that you can scan and or shoot just remember that not all oceans are made of water so be careful before you jump into mercy of burning acid number two whilst we're on the topic of sea creatures and scanning did you know that sea creatures and flying creatures can be scanned from much further away than land dwelling animals even without having your surveying skill upgraded so you don't have to shoot every bird or weird flying jellyfish down you can simply scan them from afar though if you do want to just shoot everything killing creatures does also automatically scan them number three once you've fully surveyed a planet and been rewarded with some sweet sweet survey data to sell on you go and visit Vladimir on the eye orbiting around jemisin and select the bottom dialogue option asking him about the artifact search being a full-time job he'll tell you that he will actually buy survey data from you if you then sell this to him you'll get a better price for it than if you sell it to any other Merchant number four whilst you're on a planet and encumbered you are unable to fast travel you can however fast travel directly to ground-based locations from your your ship whilst encumbered this is especially useful for accessing your infinite storage containers located in the lodge you can go to your ship empty thousands of kg and supplies into your pockets and then use your surface map or planet map to fast travel to the lodge where you only have to crawl your way a short distance in order to deposit all your goods into your safe keep in mind you can't do this in Reverse as trying to fast travel from the lodge back to your ship whilst encumbered will not work number five a small tip for moving whilst encumbered is that if you aim down the sights of your gun whilst walking you won't drain any Oxygen this is Handy if you're really encumbered and your O2 is going down very quickly and it's just a bit easier then stop starting to try and avoid taking damage number six gear marked as rare epic and legendary just means that it has one two or three traits on it gear levels however that range from basic through calibrated refined Advanced and even Superior actually dictate the main main stats so an advanced gun with no perks for instance is gonna do tons more damage than a basic or even calibrated legendary version of the same gun it's easy to get excited about legendary items but make sure you're also looking at weapon level and especially gun damage as this jumps up massively and will soon make some of your older legendary items no longer worth using number seven if you're getting bored of the tedious monotony of climbing up your ship's stairs every single time you want to get in the cockpit then remember you can use your jump and boost pack inside your ship to just hop right up there nice and quick number eight if you've been given or stolen a ship or I suppose some people might actually buy them and you aren't quite happy with the contents inside you can select modules such as the Habs within the shipbuilder and then scroll through the different variants of the same module and then just snap them back into place this is a super easy and great way to quickly adjust an existing ship to have more crew slots or extra workbenches if you don't want to worry about moving loads of ship parts around to make a new section fit or having to upgrade your engine or your graph Drive in order to carry the weight number nine if you need to level your shipbuilder skill by placing unique modules a good way to do this is to grab a random ship that you own that you don't really care about go to edit it stick a new Hab on it somewhere to give you lots of lovely little blue slots to stick things onto and then just shove different items from the structural list of components onto your ship make sure you meet the minimum requirements for the ship to be able to save it and then you'll quickly get your skill leveled up you can then go back in after saving the ship delete those items and put different ones on again to level it up further just remember they have to be unique modules you can't just keep building the same piece over and over again this is super cheap to do and you can save even more money if you like by deleting some of the guns and other non-essential items off the ship as well once you've done this you'll soon have your ship Builder quickly leveled up and as a bonus have a beautiful spare ship just like mine number 10. it took me a while to remember that I should give a weapon to my companion and longer still to remember that I actually have to press a button to equip it to them what is even more useful to know than that however is that they only need one ammo for that gun and they will have infinite ammo this means you can give them a heavy weapon with giant exploding expensive hard to find shells drop one ammunition in their pocket and they'll be firing out explosive death all day long albeit with the accuracy of a particularly bad Stormtrooper number 11 as well as equipping guns to your companion don't forget you can do the same with spacesuits clothing packs and helmets to convey even more Buffs to them number 12. the chameleon trait is pretty commonly found on wearable items and it makes you invisible if you are stationary and crouched this literally means you can stand right in front of someone's face crouched down and steal all of their stuff it feels ridiculously broken and should probably be patched to be honest as it kind of devalues any effort going into stealing anything but enjoy it while it's there if you like an easy life number 13. once you've stolen everyone's stuff you can actually get rid of the red mark on it very easily to clean it and make it look legit go to a vendor that buys stolen goods like the trade Authority sell it to them and before you close the inventory screen scroll down to the buyback option at the bottom buy back all the items to what you sold them for and they will no longer be shown as stolen and are at least technically fully legit again it's probably something that will get patched at some stage but for now it still works number 14. I've covered picking up items before which is done by holding down the pickup item button rather than clicking it but as well as picking items up you can also rotate them in various directions by using the left and right trigger on controller or left and right Mouse button on PC and you can throw the item by hitting Exxon controller or r on PC number 15 and finally a tiny tip for controller players but one that is very handy you can move around star map using the d-pad and it is a lot easier the star map is horrible to navigate on a controller so this just makes it a bit more bearable though I think it's still pretty rubbish and could do with an overhaul so that's everything for today I hope you found something in there that you didn't know already make sure you let me know about any tricks and secrets that you know about in the comments down below and drop a like And subscribe if you want to stay up to date with all of my Starfield tips and guides videos thanks so much for watching my name's Ben we are the beard guys and I'll see you next time thank you
