now that summer's around the corner we all dream of the moment we can put on our swimming suits and dip right into the pool [Applause] but beware pools can be dangerous and mysterious places too from horrible diseases to laughing ghosts here are 15 bizarre things people found in their pool number 15 a crocodile imagine you're an older lady now imagine waking up one morning during your holidays getting ready for your early aqua aerobics class and happily strolling down to the caravan park swimming pool only to find a 5 foot long crocodile in it scary right the reptile was simply enjoying a relaxing dip in the swimming pool and refused to get out i mean can you blame him the rangers were immediately called to remove the animal so the aqua aerobics class could go on as scheduled but the croc would not go without a fight the rangers had to chase it around the pool for a while under the gaze of the horrified tourists when they finally managed to catch him with a scoop net they noticed the croc didn't have any markings so it was probably a wild animal just trying to get a refreshing swim to escape the heat or maybe that croc simply had luxurious tastes and the swamp just didn't do it for him anymore who knows how it got there but the elderly group staying at the caravan park that summer will never forget the incident before we go on like this video smash the subscribe button and click the notification bell right now or this centipede will crawl on your face when you're sleeping [Music] number 14 a cow what would you do if you were a cow and you were being chased by two dogs this cow has the answer just jump into the pool it happened in alabama the poor cow was desperately trying to escape the dogs when she decided to leap into the pool to save her own life i guess cows don't know the dogs can swim the terrified cow then tried to exit the pool without luck realizing you needed hands to use the pool ladder but when one of the dogs leaped right after her into the pool the cow panicked and just started going around and around in a frenzy finally two cowboys came to save the day and you guessed it they were riding their horses they lassoed the poor animal on the first try they managed to direct the cow towards the shallow end of the pool so she could get out however the dog remained in the pool and he was also having a hard time getting out so one of the cowboys just called him towards the stairs so he could climb out both animals are fine now a bit shaken up maybe what a day what the heck alabama number 13. a car if you ever find yourself being chased by the police one thing you should never do is drive your car right into a pool that's what happened in california when two cars started driving so madly even the deputies stopped chasing them for safety reasons but one of the two cars wouldn't get too far it was found in someone's backyard pool and the driver was nowhere to be seen apparently he fled the scene to avoid charges also in california and in the middle of the day an elderly couple did a similar thing but without the police chasing them they just drove straight through a fence and into a private pool fortunately one of the residents there was a former marine and knew exactly how to deal with the situation he was in the middle of a conference call when through his window he saw an suv take a dive right into his pool unreal the 67 year old driver and her husband were fine and the police say they weren't under the influence of drugs or alcohol so watch out for elderly people behind the wheel grandma is a public menace number 12 a hot tub loving bear when it's very hot outside it's normal for all kinds of people and creatures to try and cool down yeah you heard me right all kinds there have been a few sightings of uninvited bears taking a dip in people's pools and hot tubs it doesn't happen all the time but it does happen it's almost like they're saying hey i'm gonna take over your pool now what are you gonna do about it it's usually a mother with her cubs and as cute as the little ones are you don't want to get too close mama bear is always alert and very protective of her furry kids and when that happens there's not much you can do bears are very cute but they still are wild dangerous animals and you should never approach them so just sit back in front of the window and enjoy the show until they decide their pool party is over and proceed to go back to the mountains they make themselves very comfy every time too almost like the tale of goldilocks and the three bears just the other way around the next step would be for them to invite themselves into your house to take a nap in your bed maybe a bowl of oatmeal number 11 trespassers what would you do if one day you found a complete stranger nonchalantly having a good time in your pool it would be almost rude to ask him to leave no but in all seriousness this happens a lot sometimes people just help themselves and they don't necessarily want to rob anything they just want to chill in someone else's pool but if that scares you it's totally fine to call the police because it's illegal to trespass private property and they shouldn't be there also often trespassers are under the influence of drugs or alcohol or both and that makes them unpredictable and potentially dangerous it's what happened to a woman from ontario one day she was running errands and when she came back home she found an 18 year old guy skinny dipping in her pool he also took a shower inside her house and ransacked her fridge there are also people who want to use the outdoor showers and sometimes to hide their identity they'll literally take a shower with a plastic bag over their head people are weird so watch out for hungry crazy trespassers and next time you leave your house make sure you lock the doors and the gate to the pool number 10 hey have you ever peed in a pool if your answer is no you're probably lying i do it you do it even michael phelps does it and now there's a way to calculate exactly how much p there is in a pool scientists basically measure the amount of ace k in the water ace k is an artificial sweetener that lots of modern food has as an additive the interesting thing about that sweetener is that you can't find it in nature and when we ingest it we don't assimilate it we pee about 95 of it so the amount of ace k found in a pool is basically equal to the amount of pee that's there cool shrek huh but the results will gross you out the scientists tested 31 pools and hot tubs all over canada and here is what they found there was pee in all of them they say that for 222 000 gallons of water there's 18.5 gallons of pea and apparently hot tubs are on average three times worse than swimming pools they did this study just to remind people that pee makes chlorine react and create chemicals that can be irritating for your eyes and lungs so we should all probably stop peeing in the pool i don't know about you but i'll think it over next time i want to take a dive number nine bullets on board unless you're trying out your new gun and shooting inside your pool you do not want to find a bullet there but that's what the residents of a neighborhood in ionia michigan complain about finding all the time how can the people of the same area all find bullets in their swimming pools well because they live 1400 feet from the saranac lowell state game area shooting range you'd think the people of the shooting range would put up some kind of fence to protect the nearby homes from wandering bullets but the only thing they did was moving the practice targets east because most houses are located south the mischievous ammo still seems to find a way into people's pools though and the residents aren't happy to be honest with you i would immediately move out i mean if i had a pool i'd like to enjoy it without being afraid of accidentally getting shot don't you think and apparently most shooting ranges are not necessarily well designed so ammo does get out from time to time if you're looking to buy a house i would recommend a look if it's close to a shooting range you know just in case number eight coyote wild animals often fall into pools some of them can easily get out but unfortunately many of them can't figure it out and they die of exhaustion and stress like this beautiful coyote that was so tired and scared they had to give her cpr to bring her back to life if you want to prevent this one solution is to have in your pool a built-in staircase so the trapped animals can climb out of it something that also works is to have a motion sensor so it can alert you and you can go to their rescue although you might be annoyed after a while if the alarm goes off at every leaf that drops into the pool the coyote hero was finally taken to the animal hospital but sadly she had rabies and was probably put down [Music] and that's why you should always be very careful when you approach a wild creature because rabies is transmittable to humans and is a nasty disease try to use a net cleaner and always wear gloves but the best thing to do is to call animal control so they can help you save the animal number 7 snakes if you live in australia you're used to finding dangerous animals everywhere and maybe that's why australians don't seem to be scared of anything at all when it comes to wildlife like these three boys that found a six and a half foot long snake in their pool and they are absolutely not scared they actually seem to be enjoying themselves and can't stop giggling to be honest the snake looks far more in distress than the boys the snake believed to be a python had barricaded herself in the water filter and was trying to hide so the boys manufactured a rod with a dead frog as bait to try and lure the reptile out that didn't work but the snake finally makes a break for it and slithers along the pool edge escaping all the attempts of the boys to catch her at one moment one of them did get a hold of her tail but he quickly let go as she started to desperately thrash herself free the snake finally managed to climb the edge of the pool and slither under the wood deck finally escaping the three fearless boys what for us would be a terrifying experience for aussies it's fun and games only in australia number 6. pippo hippos are the most dangerous animals in the world for human beings and usually you're safe if you just stay away from their territory but what if you found one swimming in a pool in your own garden that's another story this did happen to a family in botswana they woke up one morning to find a two-ton male hippo submerged in their pool they said that before the animal decided to visit them the pool's water was crystal clear and blue and the very next day it was all green dirty and brown the boy even said the hippo poops a lot fortunately the family wasn't too scared because the father works as a safari director so he's used to being close to wild animals it still must have been very intimidating to have such a massive creature invade your property like that there's a hipper and it has been in the pool for around 10 hours the gate crasher stayed in that pool for about 10 days and he left behind 100 kilograms of poo needless to say the family had to drain the water and thoroughly clean the pool these kinds of events are extremely rare the safari director thinks that it was linked to the terrible drought that happened that year and he doesn't expect any more pool guests anytime soon number five so apparently people do a little more than just pee in swimming pools can you guess what i'm talking about yeah cause i already said it well i'm gonna say it again i'm talking about poo yeah it's gross i know apparently pools are full of poo and the culprits are obviously children so there's no way of stopping it from happening now remember how many times you swallowed water while playing in the pool as a kid or how many times you didn't take a proper shower after swimming in the pool yeah scientists think that might be the cause of the rise in diarrhea cases during summertime basically if one kid has a stomach bug and goes swimming it'll infect the entire pool the chlorine we put in the water kills a lot of the bacteria and parasites that's why people don't get infections or get seriously sick but the disinfectants don't kill the ones that can cause runny poos so if you get sick stay away from the swimming pool for a while if you're still considering to ever go back to a pool or water park if you're not totally grossed out for your own sake try to never swallow the water ever number four dead people we all know that lots of people drown in pools all the time children in particular but what are the chances of three members of the same family and of three different generations drowning all at the same time it's a mystery that's hard to crack it wouldn't make sense that three people would just drowned right away like that an 80 year old girl her 33 year old mother and her 62 year old grandfather were all three found floating dead in their pool in new jersey the neighbors think it might have been an electrical issue in or outside of the pool since an electrical contractor was called earlier that day electrocutions and pools are rare but they do happen the police haven't confirmed that to be the cause of death so far the family had just moved into the neighborhood and everybody said they were very nice and friendly the bodies were discovered after a neighbor called the police because she heard screams for help she thought someone had gotten hurt but the reality was that her next-door neighbors were dying there's no words for that family it's very sad law enforcement is completely puzzled by the events the strange fact is that apparently other family members were also inside the pool when the incident happened so it's a complete mystery number three machine gun found in the water at children's pool we all enjoy playing with water guns at the pool they're good fun it's a different story though when the games involve real guns in la jolla california they found an actual assault weapon and lots of ammo in a children's pool apparently someone reported it to the police when he was walking nearby and he noticed the gun in the water when the officers arrived they confirmed it was a high-powered mach 10 a weapon that is illegal in the state of california unless it's carried with the proper documentation along with the machine gun they also found 44 mismatched bullets of different calibers and apparently the gun had been dumped in the water shortly before they found it police tried to figure out what could have happened at the children's pool to leave such a scene behind maybe it was a gang-related incident or a drug deal gone wrong whatever it was they chose a very unusual setting for a situation that requires such a destructive weapon in any case everybody's very concerned given all the incidents that happen in the u.s involving kids and guns and the police remain very alert number 2 ghost now we've all heard ghost stories about abandoned hospitals houses and typical medieval castles but have you ever heard of a haunted pool well we didn't find one but three swimming pools that are still today the settings of ghost sightings the first one is at the mineral springs hotel swimming pool in illinois today the place is completely abandoned and derelict the actual pool is at the hotel's basement and those brave enough to venture down there have heard distinctive laughter and the sound of splashing water although the pool has been drained years ago there's also the queen mary cruise ship swimming pool in long beach california the ship hasn't sailed the seas since 1967 and has now been turned into a museum open to visitors many people go visit the museum just to get a glance of the ghost that haunts it a woman dressed in 30s fashion that walks around talking to herself and last but not least the mccarran park swimming pool in new york it was one of the biggest pools in the u.s back in the 1930s it was made to receive 6 800 people today it's abandoned and empty but it is still possible to visit it and many people have reported to see the pool full of water and people in their swimming suits wandering around number one diseases there are many diseases that can live in water and consequently you will find lots of them happily infesting your backyard pool because pools can be nasty business some people decide to put lots of chlorine in them and that can cause skin rashes and in the worst cases burns and disfigurement but as strong as chlorine is it doesn't kill all diseases for example the parasite that causes diarrhea survives with no problem in pool water and if you go take a swim you will very quickly regret it how does that parasite end up in the water though well because in most pools there is some percentage of fecal matter which can also cause eye illness commonly known as red eye due to irritation after being in contact with poo the bacteria present in pools can also enter your eardrum and cause serious infections in some cases even reaching your brain and seriously endangering the person finally if you ever drink the water you can get a bad case of food poisoning and swelling of your internal organs so swimming pools are not always fun and games all this sure makes me rethink my summer plans i don't think i can ever get into a pool again what about you have you ever found a bizarre thing in a pool also check out our other cool stuff showing up on screen right now see you next time
