[Music] well guys today we're gonna take a look at this little guy this is the RCS jackknife more than a dozen of you have asked me for this in the last couple of months but not a one of you gave me the link I had to go didn't find it on Google but I did find that a lot pics calm oddly if you typed in jackknife if it doesn't come up in the search results you have to type in RCS only then well you're gonna look at this little guy $24.95 and I think that's probably one of the bargains of 2018 let's take a look and then I think you'll understand why that is first of all my impression out of the box of this thing is that it is feather away this thing it has a composite handle it's just very very light it weighs 18 grams which is just a little bit over a half an ounce to add a little context to that this is my everyday carry pocketknife I use it on the metro somebody tries to crowd me I might stab them with it but anyway that's neither here nor there carbon fiber handle and it's made from titanium this little guy weighs twice what this does so just amazingly light you have a little pocket clip so because it is so light you don't want it to blow away I guess but you don't want it riding down on the trash in your pocket you got a clip you can hold it just like a normal pocket knife so that way it's not going to get lost rotating it around you see we have our tension tool here what I found on Jack knives is this is the part that always gets lost when I pull out my jack knife to pick a lock because I have to that tension wrench is not even in the same County it's a long-lost this one's a little bit unique first of all we have a compression fit up in the front and there's a compression fit in a little slot in the back here you can see a bend that maintains the compression in both of these areas and by doing it that way for those of you with headphones you might want to take them off for a second I'm gonna bang this on the bench and I'm going to prove to hit it right here trying to break that thing loose no way doesn't even come out it's very slowly in there yet it's really easy to get out too all you got to do is just take your thumb and overcome that's that band the spring tension and we do that this thing slides right out of there it is a medium thickness which brings me to my first modification if this were mine I would probably taper the end of this just a little bit mediums are good all-around tensioner but in cast in case you come across a lock with a really small key way if you taper the end of that you'll guarantee that you have a tensioner that will fit into those those locks alright continuing on around here you notice we have a little lever this is the tensioning lever to keep all of a picks in place so again they're not going to be fallen out of their most Jack knives that we've seen they have a little knurled knob a little wingnut up in the front you never know how much is too much tension or not enough see they usually made out of brass so you're constantly stripping those things out this was made out of Steel and it takes all of the guesswork out if you look I reckon Amish they've left a little slot here on the side of the housing but let you get your fingernail in there you slide it down 90 degrees and that releases all the tension on your picks and allows you to freely rotate them all out of there let's take a look at these picks see what we get come on spread out here spread out all right this first one on the very bottom here is a lot like the peterson reach so if you're picking medicos that's really with that style of pick is for another thing I found that style useful for is using as a bypass knife if you've got unshielded padlocks that's a nice shape to be able to allow you get it right up inside of there next one we got an El rake or City rake will play with him in a little while we have a W rake for those Connecticut axe or you can also use them as standard rate but most often that's used for kinetic type attacks to bounce your keys almost like a simulated bump key we have a very nicely shaped short hook and by the way all of these are 20 thousandths of an inch thick so it's a good middle ground thickness let you get in Paris in tricky ways and yet tough enough to manhandle and bully around some of those master locks we've got an S rake or snake rake we have a ball so if you're gonna be facing some wafers it's a the the round ball so if you have double sided wafers you have a double sided pick you don't have to take it out roll it over and put it back into roll to pick the other side you just leave it in and alternately rake either side and then if you're gonna pick some dimple locks you can use this also for single pin picking or even raking you have a half diamond again all these are twenty thousand of an inch thick so how do we use it well let's take the hook let's choose him slide all the rest these guys will rest the guys all the way put them in all the way down and then rotate this up all the way to that stop so you can't over tighten it and it's not gonna allow you to strip out that screw and it is really tight once you've got that in there you could put a lot of tension swell seized up in there it's going absolutely nowhere one of the best locking up mechanisms I think I've seen now something to keep in mind it is a composite handle that's you know there's a trade off you want something really light and compact composites a good material but it's gonna mute some of the feedback that's okay because your fingers gonna be down here and this is probably going to be used for picking a padlock that you come across you're gonna be holding him in your hand and picking him so you're gonna get feedback through your holding hand and also through your finger it doesn't totally mute it but and again I'm guessing here I would say 80% of your feedback is gonna be transferred simply because this thing is clamped up in there so tight so why don't I go ahead and find some locks around the lock lab and let's see how well this thing works in a real-world environment all right guys a little shout out here - Dave Christopher I've been looking for a way to fit the locks that he's sent in a while back and now this is a perfect opportunity I was looking for some locks with some decent bidding to give this thing a true test and I wanted locks with perhaps security pins and pretty good tolerances to be a little bit of a challenge for this thing all right the first we're gonna take a look at is the abus 55 45 and I chose this one simply because of the awesome bidding it's only four pins but this is about the pick not about the picking right we're gonna use the tension wrench that comes with it slide it right in there and we're gonna take that hook again this tightens as far as it will go slide it in now these are these do have spring tension on the core so they're a little bit of a challenge to get tension correctly so you have to overcome the spring tension and then apply a little bit more but not too much because then you're gonna start seizing up all the pins hard I am on pin three little click on pin 2 had a little feedback on that when the rotation on him yeah there we go in one no he's got an open we had one spool on this one that I detected pretty good feedback on spools I felt it all not only in my hand but also in the tension wrench which that gives you your primary feedback I still felt it through the finger that was touching on the pic itself all right that's the that's the short hook let's try some of the others on this little guy this is a 55 40 and this one is more of a breakable so rather than use the hook on him let's try some of the rakes so let's put him away and pull out let's first try this guy try the city rake make sure he's tight and just for comparison just to see how close we are it's not really that close but again you're gonna rock this tool it's really designed to put in there and kind of rock it up and down while keeping light tension and work those pins into place so let's try it see if it works we got a good chance all right slide them all the way in well maybe it wasn't locked was put him back all right now he's locks I'm all the way in okay I knew it was gonna work probably pretty well based on that bidding but I didn't know it would work that well it is locked and that's how easy it can be was that was totally unexpected and let's let's try something else that's again that was just too easy let's find another rake let's find the snake rake where do you go there he is we'll try that little guy look spun them around locked in place alright now again these do have security pins so be very gentle on the tensioning if you over tension with a spool pin we're gonna end up getting a fault set so let's slide him in light tension and then just rake and I've already hit a fault set I've already hit that suppose I'm going to lighten up and see if I can just continue to rake and maybe I can rake that spool in place and there we go how do you use that fifty five forty from abus not bad alright guys this is the rcs jackknife not a bad deal if you're looking for a really lightweight very inexpensive jackknife lockpick kit take a good look at this one this is it this is a bargain of 2018 I think lockpicks calm is where I found this search
