10 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING AN AK 47

[Music] thanks for watching another video so currently I have around 2000 rounds put through the century Arms visco and the arsenal sam-7 and I've been taking notes right because these are my first two ak-47s so I'm kind of writing out things that are different than the ar-15 things that I like things that I don't like things that you might have to spend more money on because you want to modify it all of that stuff so I've come up with 10 things you might want to consider before buying an ak-47 let's have a look alright guys the first thing I want to mention is getting a good front sight adjustment tool because it's a cost that I didn't expect to incur when buying an ak-47 I'm like why do I got to buy another tool - it's just the front sight post doesn't make any sense but as I researched there is no sense in buying the $15 ones the $10 ones buy this one if you want to help support the channel I'll leave a link for it down at the bottom this one is $35 but it is super adorable this heavy duty man and the way this works is you slip it over the front sight post and as you tighten it down that pushes the pin out there that's gonna take care of your windage and the elevation is here you're gonna set that right down on top of the post and unscrew or screw it depending on what you want to do but yeah I didn't expect to have to spend $35 on a good tool but this is gonna fit a large majority of your front sight post and it's not gonna break that's the key thing so that's just one of those major things you got to think about before buying an ak-47 well we talked about the front side so we models will talk about the rear sight and this is pretty much what you're gonna be dealing with when you look down the barrel of an ak-47 right there even if i zoom in on this it's it's that you knots is very very small and you're also going to notice that there's an absence of a rail system so if you want to put an optic on you got to make sure you got that side mount which the viscous does not have let me show you the Arsenal so the Arsenal has that on there for your optic so when you're out there shopping make sure that number one it's got this side mount and number two that it's straight just another thing to consider when you want to purchase an ak-47 alright the next thing to consider is this rifle gets really really hot all right when I was out there shooting those 2000 rounds this entire section gets hot and I mean this entire section meaning this little band actually gets super hot - and this handguard is very small and a lot of times when I reached over and I track to grab my regular grip you know my pointer finger what accidentally just graze it and it is boiling hot so this is a very small handguard an expression I was trying to take measurements in different places I had to really make sure to avoid this front section so now I get I understand why people like to pull larger handguards on this thing because every component up here gets hot so that's something to consider when you're when you're shooting in a cave and you're not too familiar with the aerodynamics on you gotta make sure to be careful where you put your front hand all right let's have a look at the safety on here cuz it is different than an air 15 it's on the right side of the rifle and you will be manipulating it with your pointer finger either this way or rolling your hand over so some people might be like I don't want to mess with that because there's nothing on the left side of the rifle to help you take the safety on and off so it can be kind of weird at first but the Arsenal let me bring that in here it's got it on both sides so here is the safety on the right side which is right here and for those who just want to have it your way here is how you manipulate the safety on the other side so when you're out there and if you just don't want to deal with learning how to work a different safety system you might want to look for a aq variant that has it on both sides alright again if you value consistency in your training you might not like the fact that you have to rock the aka magazine in like that right sound like a pistol it's not like an ar-15 and then some people even train with the way when you graze a trigger guard and you knock it out by hitting the mag release that way so some people might not like that and if you have a shorter magazine because you don't have that lever sometimes it's a little bit harder to rock it in and out now another thing since we're in this area is so this is an X Tech magazine you can see there's a little bolt in here the ak-47s don't have last round lock back but if you have one of these magazines it'll lock back like that but the only problem is is when you release it it snaps forward now I think these are valuable because I like the fact that when you do when you're on ammo it locks back and you just drop any after rack it anyway but that's one of those things were people that are used to air fifteens it might be like I don't like this rocking action and I don't like the fact that when I take up the magazine if you have one of these last round walk back mags that the bolt is gonna close another thing to look out for that's a common problem with ak-47s especially for a noob like me is this section right here on the stock so you can see that it kind of sticks up further than the receiver here just like that so it's higher so when you're taking the dust cover on and off you got to be careful or you're gonna Nick the front end of the bus stock so taking it off normally isn't a problem right just gonna push it in and it'll come off with this no problem this happened when I was trying to get it back on and you know most people just tell you to put it in lining up right in the front in here oh yeah I just put it in here once it's in in that section right in there just like this then all you got to do is push it straight down while I push it straight down and the spring kicked it backwards and it was a mess so now what I do is I kind of line that up right on the top and then I push that all the way in making sure that that front is lined up right in here first like that then once that's in there then I said of slamming it down I hold it in there and let it go so just be careful if you're going to keep the wood make sure you're good if you shoot a lot of air 15's and you've never shot an 8k you might not like the fact that the charge handle is on the right side of the rifle ar-15 guys we're used to kind of pulling it this way if your charge handle is big enough you can pull it from the left side but now it's on the right side so you're forced to kind of support it with your forearm grip it like this charge it like that maybe get it under your arm pain go underneath I charge it that way so if you're an AR guy you might not like the fact that the charge handle is on the right side of the rifle alright the last thing for me is the length of pull on this buttstock because when you shoot this thing you don't shoot it with your face here you got to get your face here and here is why now for naturally for my size this feels comfortable but I need to stretch my neck so I can get my cheek right in this pocket up here and what that does is it makes me pull this rifle into that pocket in my shoulder I noticed that when I got lazy or if I was shooting really quick and my face backed up here this rifle is gonna rock up and down its gonna slap you in your cheek or even your chin so when you get your face up here it really makes you pull the aka into that pocket now there's no buffer spring in here like with an AR and pretty much ARS are soft shooting compared to this guy and it big ol straight back like this but if you don't get a good pull into that pocket in your shoulder you're gonna get slapped in the cheek or even the chin but guys those are the last considerations I have for you before buying in ak-47 alright
