hey what's going on guys in a cat5 I talked about it on Facebook and if you are aware of me on Facebook its facebook.com slash nsz 85 and I ask different questions and I get involved different ways different conversations mostly in reference to firearms but specifically the wife and I were talking and we decided that it would be beneficial for people if I made a video for people who don't know anything about the ar-15 variant or just recently obtained one or bought one because of all the political stuff going on people are concerned that they're going to get banned so they go out they pick one up but they're not sure what everything does so I'm just going to go over everything all the way to loading the magazine for those of you who haven't followed my channel this is my ar-15 that I I built from two blank receivers all the way up to what you see now so let me just get started with the basics of the ar-15 let's go ahead and start with this here this is the buttstock this is the part that goes against your shoulder okay it looks different ways this is a Magpul a lot of times they look a lot like this this is one from damage industries okay so that's the buttstock that's the part that goes up against your shoulder then you have the castle nut the castle nut is what holds on the receiver end plate that holds the receiver extension the receiver extension holds the buffer and the buffer spring you have your pistol grip use the hang onto it your safety trigger and you have your bolt release and on this side you have your magazine release this is your ejection port and this is your forward assist this is your takedown pin and your pivot pin rail or handguards muzzle brake or compensator alright so that's pretty much the basics this is a four end grip this is an optic these are fitted back up sights and then in here we pull the charging handle you'll see the bolt carrier group this is the ejection port when the bolt comes back or if you charge using your charging handle it opens up okay it stays open until you close it that's all the set is the forward assist is if now let's say your bolt gets stuck okay right about here you can jam on that forward assist and the teeth right here gets caught by this and pushes it forward okay your magazine release is what releases the magazine now let me go over the magazine real quick a lot of people that may be new to semi-automatic rifles but maybe have shot handguns think that you still have to load for like a handgun but you don't all you have to do these are dummy rounds by the way you just load straight down just straight down it's actually a lot easier than pistol I always give it a nice tap that forces all of them backwards okay now when you load a magazine if your bolt is closed like this if you have a full magazine that's why some people will tell you only load it to 27 or 28 rounds out of a 30 rounder because when you put this in you have to force it up against the bottom of the bolt I'm sorry the carrier and that forces the bullets down so if you have a full magazine you could very much go to put it in and it's going to end up like this bring it up and it's just going to fall out you got to make sure to give it a nice healthy whack don't be gentle see do not be gentle with your air 15 it is meant to take a beating don't worry if you get scratched or banged okay it's an air 15 use it like one when you put a magazine in don't be gentle just whack it in there charge around in the chamber now some people don't understand how the air 15 works so you have a round in the chamber in this case I have a dummy round okay you pull the trigger take it off safe pull the trigger when it happens when you pull the trigger is that the bullet comes down the barrel and goes out the end and all the gas and pressure behind it come in to the gas tube through the gas port and it comes all the way down the gas tube I don't know if you can see it in there see that silver thing that's the gas tube and then that comes back and the gases go into the gas key which forces the bolt carrier back ejects and another one goes in then the trigger resets so again trigger all right now notice that the bolt stayed open why is that that's because on an empty magazine the bolt catch is forced up by the spring of the magazine which is right here now typically it just kind of looks like a ping-pong paddle I have an additional piece here obviously just for ease of operation that I find to be easier and what happens then is this is why it's so much quicker and people argue this and I don't care but it is I was an 8k guy before I was an AR guy but it is so much easier to reload an ar-15 drop the mag put a new one in release the bolt and you're ready to fire already so that was Reese's The Magazine this catches the bolt so if you don't have an ambidextrous look I'm sorry an ambidextrous lever like this on this side of the rifle the left side you just give this a healthy whack and that puts the bolt forward so we covered that now let's go ahead and cover a basic tape down all right so you want to make sure that it's unloaded let's just say you have a magazine on the right you want to drop the mag clear it okay there's nothing in there and then on this side of the left side of the rifle you have a pin here which is your takedown pin and your pivot pin now mine are a little bit different because mine are the battle arms development enhanced pins this is the enhanced takedown pin and the enhanced pivot pin so mine are a little bit easier to take apart but basically you're just going to push these from this side and on this side you're going to want to grab your takedown pin which will done allow you to open up from the lower receiver and the upper receiver and then you take out your pivot pin that'll allow you to separate both okay so this is the lower receiver the lower receiver is the part that's considered the firearm so the lower receiver if you were to buy even just a blank stripped lower receiver that's what you need to do the background check on and everything because that's considered the the weapon that's where everything's is held in place the hammer the trigger safety buffer okay all that stuff is in the lower receiver let's take a look at your upper here okay here just separate it here's underneath now to get the bolt carrier group from out of here all you have to do is just pull back on the charging handle until it just is real mouthing you can pull the bolt carrier group out and then hopefully you can see it here this is the charging handle okay comes out and there's a little there anyway you just got to make sure that it's past that notch when you go to put it back in which I'll show you here it just drops into place through that notch okay because then it can't come out and let's eat up okay so you got that then you take your bolt carrier group make sure that this bolt isn't like this but make sure it's extended and you're just going to put that in there like this so you got rests right there into the charging handle and here actually what I'll do is I'll show you this is what it's doing inside the rifle this is what it looks like so when you pull on the charging handle you're pulling the entire bolt carrier group back into the buffer because the gas key which is this part right here goes into this hole and then this lip right here is what this rests on to pull back so this is of course upside down but you put the charging handle in first oops like that make sure that's extended gas key goes into the charging handle and then we're good to go and then put it back together go ahead and push the pins back in everything's good there now as far as cleaning and lubricating and all that goes I actually have a video specific to that and I'll put a link to that video below it's how to clean lubricate and field-strip your ar-15 so feel free to check that out if you guys have any questions comments concerns or anything in reference to this video please send me a PM or leave a comment below hopefully this video is helpful for some of you have a good day
