- These are 10 huge shopping secrets only the most experienced
Aldi shopper will know. Hey guys, great to be with you. I am the deal guy, Matt Granite. Welcome back to the channel. I love shopping at Aldi. I love saving you money and if this is the type of content that you'd like to see, please give this video a thumbs up. And if you subscribe and
turn your notifications on, I can promise you'll save a lot of money and you'll be a member
of my frugal family. One thing that I've
realized in the comments from the last video that
I shot pertaining to Aldi, I uploaded all of these
things you should be buying and some of the lesser known
products and these subscribers of this channel not only educated me, but you guys really
watched out for each other and if there is insight
that you have to share, I'm gonna welcome you guys to please do that in the comment section
that makes these videos so much better before I get to these 10 huge shopping secrets. I just wanna remind you guys that on Mattsdailydeals.com
my own personal website, I've got tons of deals, coupons, and savings to rock your world. A reminder, I do use affiliate links. So if you're kind enough to use one of my links, I will benefit monetarily and thank you for that. Now, so you can benefit monetarily, saving secret number one. In my last upload, I did mention that the
Aldi spices were one of the best grabs that you
could possibly find LD or Aldi, by the way, no matter
how you pronounce it, I respect you. I've got maybe a bit of a Canadian accent on some of my things, but that's fine. The spices that you'll buy, whether it's garlic powder, paprika, you're looking at a dollar
in some cases per spice. And I'm going to take you inside my local Aldi
throughout this video. So we can actually compare
a lot of this stuff. But what you might not know, actually comes to me from a subscriber. Tyler commented on my last Aldi video, that he had an interview
and tour of the store and the manager let him know that the spices were made up of McCormick leftovers. So you're paying a dollar
for name brand spices, which is an incredible thing that you might not have known. So yes, you're getting
huge bang for your buck on the spices, but you are in fact buying
into something that is sometimes 10 times more expensive from another grocery store so keep that in mind as saving secret number one. Shopping secret number two
is also a double whammy. Number two is very appropriate because I don't know
if you guys are aware, but you get a double back
guarantee on Aldi products. Now, while this does not apply to non-food Aldi find items, national brands and alcohol, you will be able to return any item for
a replacement as well as a refund. So this is not for those
situations where you, you don't like the flavor of the marinara you purchased. This is for things where
the quality is not up to par maybe something has clumped or is just not really performing
the way you would like it to perform, Aldi will not
only replace the item, but they will also refund your purchase, making this the best
grocery store guarantee. You will see anywhere. So I'm gonna remind you guys, if something is not up to your standards and we'll talk about customer service and some great ways to approach
grocery store with some of my other shopping
secrets in a few moments, but this is huge and I wanna make sure it's on your radar. Shopping secret number three, there is a place online
were many Aldi employees from around the world all sound off about their favorite products and you might not know this form exists I'm going to give you the link to it it's in the video description box, but before we get there for a lot of grocery stores and a lot of retailers, the employees are sworn to these crazy non-disclosures, they're not allowed to speak publicly, unless it goes through
the company's PR arm. That's not the case for Aldi. Now for Aldi, there is a Reddit page and if you guys aren't familiar with it, Reddit it's a forum compiled of all sorts of sub pages where people can
contribute photos and blogs and videos in some cases. But I'm gonna let you guys know that for Aldi, when it comes to their
winking owl, branded wine, and many other insights that you can find. You're not only gonna score recipes you are going to score insight
from actual store employees that all come together. Now this isn't sanctioned by Aldi but it is definitely encouraged
from what I've learned, speaking to store employees and managers so you can get that insight. This is great especially if you come to a time again, where you're doing
curbside pickup options, and you can't wander the store and speak as freely as you'd like, there is a resource online and that can bring huge savings and bang for your buck
specifically for some of those hyper hard to find Aldi items that are huge bang for your buck. Now, the fourth shopping secret doesn't really bring any bang for your buck unless you follow it. Now, I hate to say it guys, but the toiletry island toiletry
items as a whole at Aldi are not a good purchase at all in fact, I would really
avoid it if you can. No store is perfect in every department. And while Aldi does check the box for many wonderful resources
for toilet paper, for tissue, for even things like toothpaste, these are products you want to avoid. On toilet paper in my estimation, you're paying 40% more. Their toilet paper is not
that great to begin with and if you were to go to Target, I'm not even gonna bring Walmart up as a savings because there
is a crazy amount of cash you will lose going to Walmart versus Aldi but for those of you that never wanna step
foot in a Walmart again, let's compare it to Target or even Amazon 40% more on
average for toilet paper and then for things like toothpaste, guys, if you go to CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, you're paying at least a
dollar less at those stores in comparison to Aldi. So I'll just throw this
on the list as a negative, but something you definitely wanna know. Now for savings secret number five, there's a huge piece of insight tied to that in terms of saving once you get into the physical store, but as you get that shopping cart ready, I don't know if you guys are aware, you don't actually need to. You always have a quarter. So there's two things that
I'm gonna work into this. First of all, if you go into
an Aldi and there is a cashier, they will generally loan you a quarter they're very receptive to this, but if you don't wanna do that, there are different ways
you can beat the system. I'm telling you don't walk off the shopping cart, return it, and then you're not
taking advantage of Aldi or anything that would not be fully legit, but there are shopping cart
quarters that work in all these shopping carts in
different colors that you can tag to your key chain, that you can purchase
some work in American, some work in Canadian stores, depending on where it is that you're shopping. So please read everything very carefully. There's an Aldi key chain that you can buy. This is, someone has actually, branded them as Aldi, which is kind of fun, different merchants
that do different things and different things
that you can actually put into your shopping cart. So it, it depends what you're buying, what style you like. There's also quarter
holders that you can attach to your key chain or the specific branded quarters, which is kind of fun, but this is something
where you don't always need to be scrambling for a quarter. For shopping secret
number six, Trader Joe's, the sister store to Aldi
is very even tempered when it comes to sales. The idea is that everything
is always at the lowest price, and they're not really huge to push the whole savings coupons or circular thing the Aldi mindset is a
little bit different, Aldi has some insane specials, but the best ones are
actually advertised online. So if you guys have not
bookmarked or subscribed, there's actually a huge
differentiating factor between the Aldi printed ad and the Aldi digital ad. And just in terms of the research I've done, you guys are going to find much better deals advertise online you just enter your specific zip code, and they do vary significantly
from store to store. So for the 89 cent red
grapes from California, that 25 cent or less loaves of bread, and some of the brand name offerings, which are actually getting a little bit more aggressive right here. I just wanna remind you guys that you can set shopping lists. You can do it all. You don't need an app. You can do this from the categories that are all advertised, but some of these deals you find are going to be incredible and you will actually
only know about them. If you visit the website first
shopping secret number seven. Now this is something that's
from my personal experience. I actually did read a
few comments from folks that can second, this experience that I've had, and this is how to get an
automatic reduced price on the spot. Now, if you guys have
been in an Aldi store, I'm sure you've noticed
there were fewer employees than ever before and also the cashier work at this fast paced record setting
speed to help get you in and out of the store
as quickly as possible, which is a little bit
different from Trader Joe's. Now, with regards to Aldi, they do save money by
putting fewer employees into the stores and fewer managers. What I can tell you based on my research as they are compensated well, and they're generally a very happy, helpful group of people
with that being said, when it comes to different products, and you wanna know whether
or not they're on a markdown, or if there is a markdown that's available at a
specific Aldi's store. If you seek out a manager
and you ask the manager, if a product is marked down or going to be marked down, some Aldi managers were
actually willing to mark that product down on the spot. I know that sounds crazy I know I seem again, overly excited, but it's worked. I asked about a specific cereal. Is this going to be
marked down anytime soon? And the manager said, "I actually haven't seen
a marked down in a while here's the markdown take it and enjoy it". The other time I experienced a
similar tactic being employed was I approached a store
manager because I needed to buy an inordinate amount of Deli meat and Aldi actually saves a lot of money by not having those
traditional Deli counters and the savings already
built into the meat, which are awesome. Nitrate-free wicked I had to buy something like
10 pounds of Deli meat and it was for a test that I was doing for another video but anyhow, the Aldi manager actually slashed the prices for me on the spot and said, "you know what, just take the rest of this. We wanna clear it out. Thank you for helping us". So those are at least two instances where they were very responsive if you've had a similar experience, please share that in the comments, but that is definitely
savings secret number seven. Savings secret number eight, I'm sure you guys have noticed at your various Aldi
community, local layouts, they save a lot of money by not
unloading all their products onto store shelves and having you actually
buy products from boxes and I'm sure you've also
noticed there's a lot of empty boxes around the store. If you see a box laying
somewhere in the store, you have the full right and encouragement of Aldi staff, assuming there's nothing
in it to pick it up and use that to place your
groceries in when it comes to time to check out, why? Well, Aldi charges for bags, as many other grocery and retailer stores do, that's how they save money. There's also a cost for boxing and different things at different stores. If you see the box, grab it, they encourage it it helps remove debris
from their store areas and you can also use this to carry all of your groceries out, nicely to your car. And many times managers will actually help you
carry out the groceries in these boxes if you do need help. For saving secret number nine, shop on hump day, Wednesdays. I have no life what so ever and very few friends in addition to the amazing
subscribers of this channel, I'm actually gonna talk
about the subscribers of this huge savings tip number 10. But before we get to there, I canvas the stores
regularly with all that time on my hands. I look at when products
are being restocked, when the deliveries are occurring and Wednesday in most communities is actually a magical day at Aldi, why? Well, the stores are
generally refreshed early in the morning on Wednesdays and from what I have found that's when all of the mark downs seem to occur I don't know why that's
the sweet spot for them. Some stores are just
exclusively a Saturday and then a Monday and a Thursday for other retailers, including Trader Joe's, which we'll talk about another time and by the way, subscribe, if you'd like that
information and insight, but Wednesday's a magical day at Aldi. So keep your eyes on Wednesday
and shop then if you can, and for saving secret number 10, there are very specific products you need to buy at Aldi, they are life changing. The quality is incredible. And before we get to
the German roots of some of the products and why shopping German
is actually a great way to go for product lines, the diapers and wipes,
BibleBeltBelle left this comment, your grandmother picked up
a box while she was there one day, they were a 10.99 versus 20 plus. You were skeptical. I was skeptical too. I'm a father and I've noticed this and I can completely attest to what you shared and so can a lot of other people as well. So I wanna mention, if you are looking for
baby related products, actually as good as the
Kirkland signature products, which I can attest to being a dad and I just wanna mention to the subscribers out there, the other products that you've identified, which are the best bang for your buck, German chocolate, imported
German coffee, the wine, which I alluded to in another video, which is actually not German so I'm not gonna mention that right here and the sausage. If the product has a German route, I can assure you, there is no better place
to find that product other than Aldi the quality, the way that everything is so extensively tested
before it even appears on store shelves. This is the way to go. And I should mention Aldi is
not paying me to do this video I should have said this at the beginning. It's not a sponsored video. They're not endorsing this
in any way whatsoever. This is just based on my personal fines as a shopper from speaking
to other people in this YouTube community and the
subscribers of this channel, who've really helped me identify some additional great finds, including the baby shampoo
that Vanessa mentioned in that other comments. So there you go. I hope you guys liked this. Please leave a comment, help steer the conversation
past this upload, keep it going, help each other. You'll help me. We'll all save money together and if you did like what
you saw, please subscribe, turn your notifications on, and I can promise my next
upload will be filled with even more insight. And that's thanks to you guys. I love you, bye bye.
