10 Items to grab when the SHTF!

people hey guys welcome back to the channel prepared wander in the prepared wander man cave today and I was tagged by a viewer to do a video in a discussion on ten items you would grab in a hits the fan scenario so what does that mean you know it's open for interpretation everybody may have a different interpretation of what that means it can be anything from a natural disaster to martial law so I mean you just don't know so I think anybody who does this kind of exercise or challenge is going to come up with something slightly different because in their mind they're going to have a different scenario so the person you tagged me with a second chance George and he has a YouTube channel if you want to check that out I'll put a link below he said some very kind things about me and my channel he likes my channel and you know very flattered I am by no means an expert in the subject matter but for what it's worth I like gear so a chance to talk about gear and how I would use it is going to be I'm going to take advantage of that I'm going to do it so I put together my ten items I have no clue if this is even the right stuff to go with but I put a lot of thought into it it's not something I took lightly I did think about it for a few days I try to come up with different scenarios and try to justify each item on bringing because I didn't want to bring something that didn't make sense so stick around we're going to get into it I'm going to show you everything that I've picked I'm going to kind of explain why I picked it and then hopefully we can get a nice dialogue going in the comments below and people can make their suggestions of what they would bring I'd like to hear that like I said by no means I'm not an expert in this in this field and I don't think many people are because who has went through something like this it's it's all fantasy and conjecture and you're just you're just guessing what you're supposed to bring so 10 items that I would bring in case the Shi T hits the fan alright so this is the items not chosen and I have them all laid out because I wanted to make sure that I had them organized and I counted them properly and it's going to be probably a little controversy and accounting yeah we'll get to that here in a second so first item paracord you know cordage is one of those items that has multiple uses and is not very easy to replicate in the field I mean it can be done you can definitely twist your own cordage out of natural materials but it's a pain in the butt it takes a long time and when you need cordage you need it now so having a abundance of it there's no limit of how much I can carry right so there's a couple hundred feet of paracord real paracord the second item I would bring is a really good sturdy saw something that I can I can process would easily with I can take down trees if I need to I can construct shelters I can remove debris from a roadway if I'm trying to drive my truck out of harm's way next item I would bring is a multi-tool and it since it's one item it has multiple uses those pliers there's a knife or scissors a file a saw screwdrivers so you know the need of repairing things removing hooks or fish all this stuff can be accomplished with a good multi-tool so this one I have is the Leatherman wingman wingman or now this is a sidekick sorry Leatherman sidekick it's a really decent multi-tool I really like it a lot I also have a really heavy-duty Gerber that unlike trade so this scenario but either one of them will work the next thing is what I consider a multi-tool or multi sytem left my tracker and I've done a video on this knife and to me is way more than just a knife it cuts wood it processes wood because of this big curved blade on the front and the forward weight of it it actually does pretty well with chopping it's got these big aggressive saw to use for notching you know it has the curved blade right here which is awesome for making curls and feather sticks so to me why go small on the knife you're going to carry go big and you know I have the multi-tool has a smaller blade if I really need something for small tasks but this can accomplish so much and you know this is my definitely like doomsday scenario item I would pick I'd always want that with me next item I would take is some kind of shelter now this shelter is multi-use this is a bushcraft outfitters Nest poncho is what this is it's a tarp that you can also wear as a rain poncho so that accomplishes two things for me now I have a line kit already built for this a long left taking snakes inside of it so it's all in one kit ready to go so yeah great multi multi use item shelters very important you want to keep dry you want to keep comfortable if you're out and about next thing is the military issue we'll be as some people like to call it and this is just a great comfort item it's a lightly insulated blanket with tie outs that you can wear underneath the poncho you can wrap up in it and make it into a sleeping bag you can lay it on the ground as a blanket it's just use it as a felony or whatever there's a lot of uses for that and in having something that's comfortable to keep you warm on top of the clothing that you're wearing I think is important maintaining your body heat and body temperature is one of the most important things you can do in any kind of situation next item is my canteen set and this is the heavy cover to a titanium canteen and canteen cup there's also a lid that goes to this so this allows me to carry water boil water cook food so I don't need any other kind of water purification tablets or anything else I can clean water with this by boiling it yes it takes longer but then I don't have to eat up my 10 item left with water purification stuff I've got it I have something I have a method of purifying water right here and transporting it very important next thing is a task light the good headlamp is worth its weight and way more valuable than a flashlight because when you're setting up camp in the dark you're hiking our trail in the dark you're trying to do something like fix your truck in the dark pants free light is really important and I like this one because it has a filter that goes over it and darkens it that's a green filter so that's nice that way you can kind of maintain your your vision at night and not alert other people to your area with a bright white light another item is a space blanket once again it's a multi-use item it is a tarp it is a ground cloth it is something to wrap up in and maintain your body heat you know this with the poncho with the poncho liner I have a shelter system and a sleeping system right here yes it's not going to be comfortable it's not going to keep me super warm it's not going to substitute for a zero Degree bag and a thermos pad and a tent of course not but let me tell you you know soldiers all over the world have been surviving out in in inclement weather with this kind of setup and they seem to be pretty well with it it's all about where you position your camp at maintaining your body heat as you go and you know just making sure that you stay dry and this setup will keep me dry and keep me warm for a period of time certainly not the best option but it's lightweight now last but not least is this and this is the Ruger 10/22 breakdown there's always going to controversy when someone mentions weapons or guns as a something to bring and why I chose a 1022 is for a very simple reason that it's a very versatile rifle I can shoot squirrels rabbits birds and if I have to defend myself yeah I can defend myself with it is the best round for that and of course not we all know that it's common sense now does this count for one item or two or three items I don't know so I'm counting this as two I'm counting the rifle magazines as one and the ammunition as the the second or the last item so that should be ten I'd probably even bring more ammo if I could but yeah I think you know I've seen people bring pistols pistols are great you're definitely concealable but they don't always be the same duty for hunting I'm more concerned about food in the long term you know I don't know it's it this is the item that I struggled with was what I should bring it this last item should it be a weapon should be a rifle should be a pistol how many magazines how much ammunition what does that count for items I don't know so I'm probably fudging this a little bit and of course there's one item that is not in here that really needs to be and that's a container to carry all this one I'm not going to carry this in my pockets so if this is ten let's count it out one two three four five six seven eight nine ten left hand is ten all that together is ten there's a couple things that we're not included in this kit that's food and first aid food and first aid are big or heat items that you really need I mean you need food for calories to sustain yourself that's kind of where the rifle comes into play if I have the ability to hunt I may not I may have to forage I don't know I may it may be a scenario where you're scrounging for food and then first-aid really important but there's only so much of that stuff you can carry I have lots of first-aid kits there in every bag I have I have some type of first-aid kit I have a very extensive first-aid kit in my truck so I'm I'm kind of betting that this scenario is something where I'm going to grab these items and head to my truck and then bug out leave the area for an indefinite period of time and in my truck I have tools I have larger knives I first aid kit I have gloves I have hats I have a lot of redundant equipment in my truck already so I'm depending on my vehicle as supporting me in this kind
