hi everybody welcome to Henry's blues and boogie woogie piano videos it's been a while since I did a tutorial so I'm gonna do a little refresher here called 10 licks every boogie woogie player must note so this is 10 cool key licks that should be in your repertoire if you're gonna be playing boogie woogie so let's get to it hello so this is what we would call the basic boogie in the left hand left hands were thought about for this kind of music so put a little finger on the C the G we just play this what I'm doing there is keeping my little finger on the C my thumb on the G and then my thumb moves up to the a yeah [Music] there you go us number one you can practice that all day now because we're all in isolation is number two variation on this one hand in the same place but instead of striking the keys like this [Music] [Music] and then when we go around the cords it goes like this [Music] [Applause] [Music] you there you go that's number two now move on to number three we got a little bit more complex we put our little finger on the C middle finger to the E flat when we go around around houses it goes like this you there you go number four it's again slightly more complex and we're gonna put some more notes in this is called the walking bass line and because that's what it does it walks up and down the notes and it goes like this we start with our little finger on the C [Music] all right which is the same thing we just played is the space between two notes [Music] [Music] which is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay number seven nothing works you know yeah the series and a little more complicated this is one gumbo lots of people come by during the Lewis and Albert hammers and Pete Johnson have all done there version air this one and you hear it a lot a lot of rock and roll music little finger on the sea [Music] alright number eight this series just like what we just played but with an extra note come in and the extra note we put it in is the B flat so we're gonna play what we just played [Music] you [Music] cool number nine this air is moving into some of the stuff that Albert Hammonds made lunch Lewis would have played back in the day the series is more corn based so we have our little finger on the C [Music] you can play this one really fast [Music] okay now the last one I'm going to show you today this is in a lot of jazzy jazz inference boogie-woogie pieces mainly by Oscar Peterson we use this and in some of the western swing boogie woogie stuff like moon Mulliken those guys barrel more and little finger on the C [Music] together around the structure goes like this [Music] okay so that's it I hope you've enjoyed the video and if you think you've learned something from this and you think you appreciate the video then please feel free to donate to the channel with the PayPal link in the video description but for now I'm just going to leave you with this too [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
