🍉 When to Pick Perfectly Ripe Watermelons Grown in the Garden - Best Time to Harvest Every Time!

Hi YouTubers! I'm Al Gracian from Albopepper.com. Watermelons are one of my favorite crops to grow in sub-irrigated planters. Right alongside corn, zucchini, tomatoes & peppers, You can actually get quite a large plant and fruit in a fairly compact planter. Check out this watermelon that we're gonna harvest today! It's a monster. But how do know when to pick it? Do you tap it? Do you check the color of the underside? Well here's the best gauge that I've seen: It’s this little tendril right here. When the fruit is still growing and ripening, this curly pig tail is green just like the rest of the vine. There's no mistaking it. It's this one, right alongside where the fruit connects. But, once this puppy dries up, your fruit should be pretty well done. All of this vine is growing out of this small root zone and sharing a planter with this beast of a jungle. Look at all them peppers. But the star of the show is this huge melon. And this tendril has been brown and dried up for several days now. So I'm gonna give it a shot. Looks like it's coming in at 26.8 pounds. NICE! Now for the moment of truth! Let's cut into this bad boy. This is my favorite variety: Sangria. Mmm! Looks like we have a winner. It's so good!
