Pretty impressive. Every single spacecraft in this video seems much smaller in its movie or game.

Like seriously those Star Wars imperial ships would need a huge mass transit system like the NYC subway just for people to get around. In the movies you only really see a few interior rooms and the exterior shots don’t give you the full person like this video does.

Edit: just doing some math, even if these big ships had mass transit systems built in it would take like 30min to travel. “Commander you have a meeting at 2:30 in section H154-63 subsection B724. Better leave now it’s a 20minute commute”.

It would have been fun to show Nibbler’s ship from Futurama.

Everyone skips the most successful and longest running (since 1961) sci-fi series and Space Opera Perry Rhodan :(

This is an amazing work though, would be super fun to have it as an interactive virtual room.

I like that the Earth went from a scale reference to an actual ship, that was a nice touch.

I found this to be way more fascinating than I'd expected.

  • Huh. A Pelican dropship is the same size as the Millennium Falcon, and bigger than the Rocinante.

  • Thunderbird 3 significantly outmasses the ISS.

  • USS Enterprise seems... way too small? By, like, a lot? Hell, even the Enterprise-D seems undersized. I thought these had, like, 9+ decks and were effectively small cities.

  • The Aurora is as big as Battlestar Galactica. Wow. Feel like it should have made an even bigger splash.

  • Past about that point, it's really hard to have any intuitive sense of scale.

  • Good ol' JMC Red Dwarf. That's the size a proper long-range autonomous spaceship should be!

  • One of the nice things about W40K is that it has a sense of scale. Interstellar empires do not dick about.

  • I always thought the Traveller was, like, the size of a small moon.

  • The Star Wars "my dick is bigger than yours" Star Destroyer / Death Star size escalation thing is very tiresome. And Starkiller Base is stupid. Honestly, that franchise should have picked a scale range and stuck with it, rather than going for endless one-upsmanship with itself.

  • High Charity is much bigger than the Death Star. OK.

  • Honestly, smh at most of the starships in the megameter range. Looking at you, Destiny. Get a grip.

  • Wait, no Culture? Shame.

Overall, really cool vid!

Can someone give a guess to about where the size limit would be with todays technology, given we had unlimited resources?

Even if we build it in space, when we go to planet sizes, the installations own garavity will crush the center of the installation.
