Tilted sideways, also has rings Saturn
Not the only planet that has rings 2MASS J0523-1403
Red Dwarf
One of the smallest possible stars in the universe Jupiter
The biggest gas giant in our solar system

One of the biggest possible planets in the universe
Also a failed star The Sun [Sol]
Yellow main-sequence star
Our host star in the solar system Sirius A
Blue-white main-sequence star Pollux
Orange Giant
Fun Fact: It may turn to a red giant if it continues its nuclear fusion. Arcturus
Red-orange Giant
Fun Fact: If it replaced the Sun, then it will suck up Mercury and heat up the rocky planets! Aldebaran
Red-orange Giant

The Milky Way, the galaxy in which our Sun orbits our supermassive black hole, Saggitarius A, every 200 million years. The Andromeda Galaxy will collide with the Milky Way in a couple or few billion years. Other galaxies, as seen by the Hubble Deep Field images. Laniakea Supercluster
Hawaiian = Immeasurable Heaven
A supercluster of galaxies, where the Milky Way is one of 100,000. The Cosmic Web, which there are billions and billions of galaxies. The Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation [CMB], which is the afterglow of the Big Bang. The Observable Universe Other universes with different laws of nature? The Multiverse. *Yellow flare stays at the end* *The yellow flare decays*
That fact that 100% of people don't find this absolutely amazing is beyond me. I'm not a cosmologist or scientist on any level, just a regular person with a regular 9-5 and middle class income and there is not a day that goes by where I'm not thinking about how vast and beautiful the universe is. I don't get how everyone isn't just as fascinated.
I love this video as it starts with Moon as a reference point and adds on bigger and bigger structures in the universe.
Where it says "the universe" it gets wrong. This is the observable universe. Small but important difference! That's how far light has traveled since the big bang. 14.7 billion light years. So the furthest point we can see is 14.7 light years away. Every day our observable universe gets a lightday wider. So the universe itself extends far beyond what we can see. Its true size is probably well outside what we can even imagine.
There is a game out there called Elite Dangerous. I think that will blow your mind.
Now do one the other way! The scale of the small and subatomic is also unfathomable. In fact, we are closer in relative size and scale to the entire observable universe, than the Planck Length, the shortest measurable distance. We are stuck in-between such unimaginable scales! Truly awe inspiring, if you ask me.
Seeing that makes it unfathomable that people still believe we are the only life form in it all.
This is mind blowing. I suddenly feel like my problems are ridicule and insignificant. Soothing, somehow.
I like how they stop it just before it gets to your mom.
How is the size of the universe relative to the age of the universe? Is it simply time multiplied by the speed of light (times two)? Bigger? Smaller? Why?
