if you were to click on any video on youtube even this one and change this part of the link from watch to w-a-t-h-c the video will instantly change into this creepy mess if you change a video's link from watch to watch without the h same thing did a youtube employee do this is this the devil don't worry i have all the answers so let's examine this video for a second it's a bunch of weird rotating baby heads on a creepy looking background with some strange audio playing in the background the video's title is just a bunch of sixes and the same goes for the channel's name there's also a pinned comment with a discord link i decided to join the discord and wow it is just a mess there's people joining every three seconds it's completely unmoderated and it just has the same spooky vibes as the video now clicking onto the channel itself the only other video on the channel is another creepy video with similar themes as the first one if we go to the channels tab there's one other channel named ilomo if you click on that channel and go to their channels tab iluomo shows up again infinitely the more you scroll the more i luomo channels appear if you click on the videos tab the first video is whoever owns this account reminiscing on the old days of youtube and going through old channels on the wayback machine the second video is where things get really weird the video is titled yap was here and the description says yes your teacher is dumb and can't paste a link the video itself has almost 1.2 million views but why this channel has less than 6 000 subscribers and has one useless video that blew it up the answer is in the comments i luomo has posted two timestamps of the misspelled youtube.com watch link at two different periods in history using the wayback machine for those unfamiliar the wayback machine is essentially like an internet time machine you can use it to view what web pages looked like years ago so today if we were to type in youtube.com w-a-t-h-c it would take us to the weird creepy baby video instead when clicking on these wayback machine links both from two different days in july of 2021 it takes us to two different videos the first one is of a youtuber named time works edited to sing rick astley's never gonna give you up no i won't rick roll you in this video i promise i lied the next one is of that same yap was here video that means it's entirely possible to change what video the viewer sees whenever they misspell watch as w-a-t-h-c but how well if we go back to ilo almost channel you may notice up in the address bar the channel is actually named w-a-t-h-c so i figured well typing w-a-t-c also brings you to the creepy baby video so let me see if there's a channel with that same name using youtube's new channel format typing c slash and then the channel name takes us to a channel with that name it has no videos but if you click on their channels tab there's ilomo again and a topless woman for science i also clicked on that channel and there's really nothing special besides their featured video also being the yap was here video but clearly all of these channels are connected however we still don't know how they're causing youtube to redirect us to this creepy baby video okay so let's dissect the youtube address bar for a second every video on youtube has watch question mark v equals in their address bar followed by that video's id when you click on a new video nothing changes about that address bar except for that id so let's say we wanted to visit a youtube channel and not a video for example my runescape channel you type in youtube.com c slash colanellors but you may know youtube's older channels like smosh can be reached by typing in youtube.com smosh since they've been around since before youtube's format changed to need that c channel name and obviously they kept their old links so let's try something what if we took a video link replaced watch with smosh and pressed enter that's odd it takes us to smosh's channel page even though we had all that extra junk behind it in the link since smosh's channel is in a video it ignores the question mark v equals and the video id and just takes us straight to the channel now let's say we try to go to ilomo's channel w-a-t-h-c using this old format and obviously it brings us straight to the creepy baby video so here's how it works iluomo who owns the channels named w-a-t-h-c and w-a-t-c has essentially made it so every time you visit their channel using the old format so without typing c before their channel name it instantly redirects you to a video of their choosing in this case the creepy baby video this is actually an old youtube feature where partnered youtubers could have their channel redirect to any video of their choosing ilomo who actually goes by yap remember the yap was here video revealed today why he did this on another channel named raymundo2112 yap belongs to a discord server where users essentially bet fake money on how well a youtube video will perform yap decided to change the links on his channels to redirect to the creepy baby video made this meme and spread it all over the internet of course it spread like wildfire like he hoped and because he bet on the video's success in discord it made him a virtual youtube betting millionaire as for that weird discord server pinned on the baby video it's actually owned by one of yop's friends so there's nothing creepy or haunted going on there now other internet sleuths have noticed that if you change watch to wat it'll instead take you to this minecraft christmas video with no title although iulomo yap is nowhere to be seen on this channel yap revealed that he's friends with who owns that channel so don't worry you're not cursed youtube isn't haunted it's just people taking advantage of a weird old mechanic but the only way to be a hundred percent sure you're not haunted is by pressing the like button
