Youth: Jai Hewlett Testimony 8/13/19

welcome are you shy can I hear your voices are you shy very good I just want to be sure my name is Jai Jai Hewlett I'm from Saint Croix Virgin Islands and I'm just gonna tell you a little bit of my testimony I don't think we're gonna take the whole time but I'm from st. Croix and now I'm just gonna share a Bible verse with you since its testimony night and he says in Revelation 12:11 and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony what is the blood of the Lamb yeah okay so what is the who is the lamb exactly alright so God or Jesus right so they overcame him by Jesus blood when did Jesus died where did he die on the cross very good so this is how they overcame but they also became by their testimony do you know what a testimony is what's a testimony it's a sermon okay anybody else what's a testimony so a testimony is somebody who or some when you go to an experience usually have a testimony right something that maybe you've come out of a bad situation so what we're going to do is I'm just gonna share with you a little bit about myself this is a cruise ship anybody ever been on a cruise ship before just here in in a cruise ship so this is a cruise ship that docked by my Island so this is a picture of syncro I'm just going to let you see a little bit about st. Croix so people from st. Croix are known as cruise Ian's can you see that so I'm cruising so you're from me and you're called a Manor right yeah well you're not something you're probably not from who's from me okay so you're so you know you're called maynard's all right so I'm from st. Croix they call me cruise ins well they call me a cruising so this is the dock here this is another picture of Milan as you can tell I really love the water anybody know how to swim okay but anybody like the water even though you don't know how to swim okay exactly so I really love the water this has been the most peaceful times for me to just be able to go there's many places you could go on st. Croix and just relax and to think to enjoy the environment and God's creation this is one of our beaches home is that beautiful yeah do you have this in me she put her thumb down to do so so so this is this is my Island and I'm just sharing a little bit about it but as beautiful as syncro is Oh before I go there actually this is my current this is when I was really young probably younger than some of you this is me right there with my father and my mother when I was a very young but syncro was there the time I was born in 1989 of August I just celebrated a birthday down September of 1989 a hurricane called Hurricane Hugo came and it's a very big anybody been through a hurricane before is it a fun experience it depends right so hurricanes are very disastrous he said no it's very disastrous and it caused a lot of damage and and destruction so this hurricane came to st. Croix and st. Croix it got so bad that at the time who was President Bush this is a very old newspaper that I got it says Bush sends troops Khoi in other words it got so bad on my island that everybody began to steal from one another is that a good thing no so everybody begun to steal and so people were taken from the stores taking food from the stores they were robbing people it was a very bad time in my island at this time they have to send a lot of army troops it got so bad that a lot of army troops came to try to settle the country because it was in an uproar everybody was fighting it was a very bad place to be I'm gonna just pause there and just kind of tell you a little bit about my story so basically I grew up in st. Croix and the hurricane I know the Lord had something for my life he had a plan for me when I was young and the hurricane came to st. Croix me and my family were under a we were in our house but the hurricane began - can you imagine if you're in your house imagine you're in your house and your roof suddenly begin to raise up and then drop down and raise up what would you do would you be scared okay exactly so that began to happen when I was young of course I was a baby son I'm going by what I was told with my parents who experienced it but the roof began to go up and down and the the building began to shake and we had to run from our house to the neighbor's house and so we went to the neighbor's house and like a couple minutes later our house was destroyed the roof blew off the rain got inside and everything was destroyed in our house if we stayed there a little longer we could have died actually so but the Lord saved us and the Lord was very good to us so we had to rebuild so I grew up in st. Croix and as I grew up I always wanted to know you know what am I going to do with my life you know you go up you go to school what do you think you want to do with your life anybody brave enough to say I think I want to do this when I grow up what do you want to do to the Marines okay anybody else yes look you want to be a doctor oh yeah search and rescue you know we could have used you when the hurricane hit us we needed search and rescue anybody else one more still deciding you change your mind uh what do you want to be what do you say Candis can you say it again oh yeah it's possible definitely so when I was growing up in st. Croix I went to a college called University of the Virgin Islands and there I got into some very bad things I began to drink and I began to smoke I got into alcohol and and some very bad things that I should not have gotten into I'm from there I got I got very bad grades I got FS anybody ever got an F before anybody brave enough to say they got an F before so so I got all amps this is my first time in college of course my mom was not happy and but at this time as I was growing up I went to my mother because st. croix was very bad at the time in the school system the public school and mother sent me to the seventh-day Adventist school and when I went to the 70 I went to school I was not a seventh-day adventists and I saw everybody and I first I didn't want to go because I didn't really wasn't interested in God I didn't want to pray and I thought all we gonna do all these pre and study the Bible but I actually begin to make very good friends and as I grew up one of my friends when I later on when I became in the University of the Virgin Islands one of my friends told me I saw him outside one day you know we did a lot of things together and bad things together he was a seventh-day Adventist he he didn't really leave me the right way but we did bad things together but one day I saw him and he was on the table it was in the nighttime on youth by himself and he was just crying and crying and crying so I came to him of course as a good friend and I said why are you crying he says because I'm doing things I know I should not be doing and I want to change I want to give my heart to God and I tell him well that's good for you you know you should probably do that he says joy why don't you join me and I said I don't know about that I don't know if I'm ready to do that yet and he says so he began to talk to me that night we talked for a couple hours that night because he was he was so hurt inside and he says let's pray and I tell him will you pray because I don't know how to pray so then he began to pray he went he started to invite me to his house as he started to invite me to his house he told me one time we start doing Bible studies and those Bible studies began to grow then I had a good beautiful vegan meal that he that they cooked for me and it was very tasty I didn't think I was like vegan food but it was very good food and so from there I started to grow up I start to get interested and then I was studying Chemical Engineer you know what Chemical Engineer does I can't tell you because I don't know either actually I wanted to do chemical engineer but I wasn't really interested in it I just wanted to I just pick something I like chemistry so I said Chemical Engineer so then I went into school I went into on the University of course as I told you bless you I got I got so mad I got bad grades and I decided you know what I need to get serious so I started to work hard I start to study and then I got better grades but I decided I don't like Chemical Engineer but at this time I was starting to get more into the Adventist message - I was starting to learn more so I moved from synchrony to Florida anybody ever been Florida so in Florida what part of Florida live in Tampa so I was in Miami Florida West Palm I went to Miami Florida first and in Miami Florida I was while I was in Miami Florida I started studying aviation so I really wanted to do air-traffic control I wanted to direct the planes wherever they would go I was so into it I got an internship to let me stay there and I was a good church some some Sabbath our good church and I would start to get interested in aviation and then the time came when I was looking to get a job and I had to wait but then I decided that I really want to give my heart to the Lord because in that time while I was waiting at that time I was waiting a lot of problems began to happen in my life I had very bad relationship problems a hobby with her that my because I start to become a seventh-day adventists I decided when I went down to the church I decided I want to be baptized and when I got baptized it was actually one of the worst years after being baptized and about anyone baptized yet here okay on this side I'm guessing you're baptized so I decided I wanted to be baptized and so when I get back when I got baptized it was the worst year of my life now this is a this is just a picture if you will of how I felt I felt in that year this was 2009 I felt that I was my life was like it's drowning if you can see that way and I really needed somebody to come and rescue me I couldn't get my job that I wanted I told my parents that I was going to UM I told my parents that I am gonna study I'm gonna study aviation they sacrifice for me they give me the money that helped me to get to school and Here I am now I got a call and they said yes we want you to come and we want you to work and I said sure I would love to work but they wanted me to work on Saturdays Sabbath's but I was a new seventh-day adventists and I decided you know what I'm not going to work on salads so I told him I'm willing to work anytime I really want this job please give me this job and they said sir we you have very good grades we need your somebody with your skill to be with us and to help us but Saturday's our most busy day so I told them you know well I can't do it now I can't work there and then as soon as I came off the phone you know what I did next I began to cry why do you think I'm crying ah exactly right I couldn't get the job I wanted but not only that I had to call my mother and my father and I had to let them know that I won't be studying aviation I won't be making the money that we thought I was gonna be making and now I have a student loan that I need to pay off so now as I was um so my parents want to know well why why don't you why can't you get the job did they not hire you and I said they did want to hire me but I don't want to work on Saturdays and that did not went well because my parents were upset with me do you like when your parents are sent to jail it's not a good feeling it doesn't matter how old you are it's not a good feeling when your parents are not happy with you so my parents were upset with me they didn't there was a time when my parents wouldn't even talk with me either they said other things they me and my parents didn't get along for a little while because I chose to become a seventh-day adventists and go a different way and so while this was happening I was really just praying I needed something different to do in my life and then that's when can you imagine that do you know you said you want to do search and rescue right but what's your name Fez Rose rose you say you want to do search and rescue you know what this is what Jesus did for me in that time when I didn't have good friends friends when I didn't have a good relationship when I didn't couldn't get a job it was then that Jesus came to me when everything was going wrong at the time in my life and I was thinking you know what I'm just gonna give up on seven different ISM this cannot be the way it should go as a Christian you know things are supposed to be smoother than this I should be happy right now I should have joy in my heart but I'm miserable I'm upset I'm angry just when I was thinking I was in my room and I started and I never forget it I hear a knock on the door and nobody answered which is strange because I'm all the way upstairs so I'm already upset so I open the door I go downstairs and I open it I need to church remember the church member says brother Jai I just wanted to come and check on you I felt very impressed to come and see how you're doing today so I just began to cry again I know you're thinking to yourself man he's a crybaby right but I just began to cry again I get emotional sometimes so I began to cry again because I was telling him listen I'm giving up on this I'm not gonna be a seventh-day adventists I don't want to be part of religion I don't want to you know why why is it things going smoother in my life and he started to encourage me and he started to talk to me and this is what I knew God loved me brothers and sisters because at the time when I was going through that God sent somebody to my door just when I needed it that same exact day so even if you're going through something you know a good thing to do is don't give up on God but a good thing to do is pray and ask God to help you and God sent me that man and he started to encourage me and he helped me to see Jesus he pointed me up and I no longer felt like I was drowning anymore and I'm gonna skip this I'm just gonna show you this is a whole picture of me I used I don't know if you can see it well I used to have longer here I used to have on what's called Lux so I used to have locks on and then when I was going from this is a picture in Saint Kitts another island where my father is from and I went and I went to I was gonna make a transfer somewhere so I decided I'm gonna cut up all my hair I'm just gonna cut it off and I'm gonna start new in the Lord it was time to get out of the house because again the same thing happened with my parents they weren't happy with me being there because I made different decisions than they expected and so then I decided you know what I need to I need to do something so I ever heard a book called steps to Christ yeah so when I was young somebody a very tall gentleman probably tall his brother John he gave me a book called steps of Christ but I never read it I put it in my room but when I was now when I was searching for something to do when I was searching okay Lord what should i do because i can't do aviation my parents aren't happy with me where should I go what should I do I began to pray and I asked God what should I do and then I found that book because told me I need to clean up my room and everything again everything straighten up so I found that looking cleaning and I and I call a friend of mines he was that youichi finds and he told me he told me about you cheap pine so I made my mind up you know what I'm gonna go to youichi Pines because I need to get out of this house it wasn't the right motive but I just wanted to get out the house so I said I'm gonna go to you cheap pines and I'm gonna save up money so I needed I need a couple thousand dollars do you know how much is a couple thousand dollars is that a little bit or a lot until you become an adult and then you realize that's but you're right it's a it's a lot of money even now for a dog it's a lot of money so I said I need I need I need thousands of dollars I need to go and I need to apply for your two Pines so I said I'm gonna save up and I'm gonna get there and you know what happened I received a meal and I opened the meal I never good meal by the way so I opened the mail and there is a check for the exact amount I need to get to youichi pines in order to become a medical missionary so i said to myself okay the Lord definitely cuz I said I'll take me about a year to gain up some money and the Lord sent it to me in less than two weeks I had a check and I told nobody my plans yet so the Lord sent me the exact amount that I needed just to get to you cheap ions so as I was going I I went from there and I moved to Florida not moved to Florida I went my flight went to Florida where my brother lives and from Florida was gonna go to Alabama where Yugi Pines is so as always there at Florida I asked the Lord for one more favor I said lord I want to know if we are you really leaving me do you really want me to go Yugi Pines so I took that same books that's a Christ and I put my number and my email in there and then there was a I was by my brother's apartments and there were lots of doors lots and lots of doors and by these doors I said okay Lord where do you want me to put this book just one step the Christ book and there was one door that I felt I really need to go and put this book so I went when I knock on the door but I was so shy so I did a knock like this can you hear that so do you think they heard it you know because I was so shy didn't want them to know that I was there so I said well Lord I knocked and I left the book all right and I thought it'd get good I left the book I did some kind of mission everything but I absolutely for our sign I said lord I want to know that you're sending me to you to clients so I went to VG Pines and one month later I got a call I got an email and the email said who is this so I said who is this and they said this you I saw your email in a book that you left in a by my apartment I said oh yes they said why did you put that book there I said oh I put that book there because I was trying to find out where I should go if I if I would just want to know if God was leading me it's a long story so they said can I call you and I said of course so they call me all right and when they call me and I talked her to the person it was a young lady and the young lady asked me well why did you give me that book and I told her again because I wanted to know the Lord's will so she said do you know what happened and she told me a story that I'm gonna tell you she told me just a couple couple days before you give me well for the last couple months I've been going through many problems she says she sure her her husband is getting ready to leave her that she might be losing her children and she says that she says before that a pastor keep coming to her and tell her she should give her life to the Lord she says but because everything was happening so bad and everything was with so much pain she was driving down the highway and as she was driving down the highway do you know what thoughts came to her mind she said you know what I don't want to live anymore so you know what she did she while she's driving off the highway do you drive slower fast down the highway usually people drive fast it's a faster speed limit so when she's driving on the highway she says you know what I'm tired of it she opens the door while she driving and she jumps out and she begins to roll and everything of course you know she was trying to commit aside right she was trying to kill herself she was so in pain right and that's like I'm I'm so glad you said you want to do the search-and-rescue right she was so in pain she would had so much heartache not what she said you know what life isn't worth living so she jumped out a car but praise God she didn't die but she had to go to the hospital she got very banged up and that add to her problems because now she has C she has to pay for the hospital so that they can help so she says so I told her you know I don't believe it's a coincidence the Lord had me come to you for a reason so we began to talk and we began to pray and we began to pray and we began to pray and she told me and I told her you know trust in the Lord they've got a chance and she did and you know what happened next she called me back one day and she told me John you wouldn't believe it she says I spoke to my husband and he wants to continue this relationship and she says because of that I'm gonna be able to keep the children and the house and she says tonight but I told her one thing when I think I want you to pay close attention I told her but what if he didn't do it what if he didn't return your husband and what if he didn't return your your your children would you still have trusted him would you still love him and my question is that to you do you know because you're not too young to have a personal relationship with God do you know that do you do you understand that you can have a personal relationship with God and this is what I wanted her to understand that no matter what we go through that God is always there by our side so she said so we began talking a lot of things change in her life she began to go back till she began to come back to the Lord and so she decides so that was an inspiration for me because it showed me that the Lord wanted to use me in order to help others so this is exactly how she felt and the reason I put this same this is the same picture I felt but it wasn't how I felt this time it was how she felt and it wasn't only how she felt but there were many others who are hurting many others who are in pain and and because I've been chew it because I know what it was to feel like I'm drowning I could help somebody else who feel like they're Johnny Minh anybody our average ever drowned before or her life began drowning in the water before how did it feel exactly right so physically it felt like that but you know there's many individuals spiritually that that's how we felt I remember when I was in Jamaica and somebody took me to some waterfalls and he had this long tree and I decide I want to climb the tree I was adventurous so I began climbing the tree but the tree somehow it rolled and it rolled on top my hand and it pinned me so my hand was between a tree and some rocks and I was kind of just hanging off a tree on some rocks and the waterfall was coming and the water was coming over my head and I felt like I was drowning and I had to like pull my head up just for a little bit of breather and he would keep coming and I was saying Lord this is it I'm gonna drown this is it right there's no way I can unpin myself I was tried and it did hurt because it would cut my flesh the more I would try to pull so how was John and I said lord please you have to do something I'm just then I felt the tree lip up and then I dropped and I dropped into the water and you know what happened you know what lift the tree up it was a another man who was there he didn't know what was going on with me but he went he climbed to the very top earlier and he saw the tree and he got this thought I wonder if I can lift this tree up so he began pushing the tree with all his might to see if he you know cuz he was trying to be strong so he started pushing the tree with all his might and that's what that's what loose to let me not be pinned to the tree and I thought look how good god is to put that thought in his mind and to use that to save me because I was starting to lose my breath I couldn't breathe and I couldn't call out for help because what breath I had I was trying to use it to breathe so the same thing I have to show her and the same thing whatever you're going through you'd like you're not too young or too old I would say to help other people who feel like they're drowning not only physically but spiritually who feel like they're angry for now we'll skip some of these verses so I do like I said I do medical missionary work and in medical missionary work what begins to happen is on you start to look at people you start to treat different problems medical missionaries or what they're known for is helping people with different ailments different diseases can your mom is a medical missionary oh yeah is that right yeah tell us you can talk to me I'd love to talk to her and so even as medical missionaries can you name me some diseases I kind of give you a chicken pox okay any other diseases yes sickness yep so when you sick you have you you have you're a weak immune system say it again pepper seed Oh leprosy oh that's a very very serious one you're right so leprosy and these are some of them right people have different ones type like pressure heart disease liver cancer and you know when you see somebody you know sometimes we could start to think oh that's that's all they are right they're just sick people right but is that it is everybody just sick people no all right so we some what we have to do is not just see the disease but what God want us to do is see what the person for who they are so it's not just about all of this person has a disease it's about remember they belong on to the Lord so remember that they belong on to the Lord so we have to see people for who they are not just for their sickness not just oh this person do you know somebody will have temper problems they have a very bad temper all right you're go we don't need to call any names so if that person have a bad temper we don't say that that person is just always have a bad temper right there's more to that person than their temper so we have to be able to look at somebody and see beyond just what we see in them and I like this I really like this this quote I read once it says Satan is seeking to veil Jesus from our sight to eclipse his life for when we get even a glimpse of his glory we are attracted to him and this is what God wants to use you use you and use me for is to show people even a glimpse if they just get a glimpse of who Jesus are Jesus is they'll be attracted to him so all God wants to do it can you show people Jesus tell me some way down I want you to tell me how can you show somebody Jesus you can go do it the TM and my brother it has a very big one you can go do it to do and speak with them anybody else giving them pamphlets and tracks Amen exactly yeah just being kind you think that's gonna show people Jesus just being kind yes I know you look you look like you're who says yes that's gonna show people DZ's who says no some yes you're right I say like two hands so yes being kind does show people Jesus right is Jesus kind exactly so we're just showing people who Jesus is and he's a very very kind person I'm gonna read this one it says they are those who profess to serve God while they rely upon their own efforts to obey his law and to form a right character and secure salvation their hearts are not moved by any deep sense of the love of Christ but they seek to perform the duties of the Christian life as that which God requires of them in order to gain heaven who wants to go to heaven alright everyone wants to go to heaven so what is your why why do you want to go to heaven let me hear you children why do you want to go to heaven and adults I want to hear up from you too why do why do you want to go to heaven man hey man I love those is a beautiful reasons careful with that anybody else want to sell why do you want to go to heaven what do you look forward to in heaven seeing Jesus amen the immense the same people from all right so before I move on let me ask you who do you want to see I'm just four I love to hear when children talk about having so I just have tags that question oh you look forward to seeing in heaven Sampson and David okay Queen Esther okay anybody else before we move on Adam and Eve that's I really want to see Adam and Eve also so yeah cannula Hannah and Sam well Daniel so it says such religion is worth nothing when Christ dwells in the heart love to Christ would be the spring of every action in other words when you love the Lord that's gonna be the motive the reason why right so love for God says man I want to get to heaven I can't wait I love the reasons you said I can't wait to get to heaven this is a family it's the Francis and the Sanders family there were three families in st. Croix that helped me to get to become seventh-day adventists helped me to be where I am now I just put a picture of some of them because you know what if this was your picture you know this is the faces of those that touch my life and that helped me to get into church so what if it was your picture who touched somebody's life to help them get into church do you think you can do that at your age what do you think you can do it at your age okay so that means that God wants to use you even at your age even at my age God wants to use me to be that face that touches another person's life this is just showing currently what I've been doing this is in elsword we did a health seminar for the community there is a community members came out we made it practical you can see them wrapped up like mummies we were doing hydrotherapy right that you're familiar with hydrotherapy rules yeah so they were doing hydrotherapy so we taught them and everybody in blue that you see in blue where members who are helping to make sure everything goes well I love this part this this is a good friend of Mines he came to the seminar and he had a rotator cuff problem can you do this let me see you do that that's your that's your rotator cuff right so his own was really messed up he could only do that you see you can do this and you're fine can you do it the other way now he could only do this and it would hurt him there was so much pain right there yeah so we should we did the same thing here we did some hydrotherapy like I showed you and when he was done because he could he couldn't even lift something I mean we were done and we did it he says can you do it to me right here I said sure so we did it right there and when he was done he was able to do just what y'all good he says whoa and then he told his business his wife there he says honey look at this I got my throwing my throwing hand again and he was so excited and I tell him okay well take it easy you still got a stretch it you know he was too excited well I guess it too excited he was very excited so after that we all had a good meal because remember medical missionary is not only just helping them but it's becoming friends with people showing them the friendship of the Lord so meeting the people and their needs so we had a good arm some good food with them these are some other children who are ghosts our church there it was a beautiful event that took place and this one I'm gonna I'm gonna skip this one I'm just gonna see in closing I'm going to start to just close off so I just want you to know children the Lord really wants to use you and adults that you of the Lord really wants to use you no matter your age the Lord can use you do you believe that so I want you to remember tonight the things that you said you can do the pamphlets what else you said you can do it for the Lord you can please kind very good what else doors the door who are you who's happy to go do it you know who likes going to it you go wow we need to bring you up to elsword all right so you go door to door right you gonna knock him in some doors just as Jesus I've been knocking on doors in the past can you tell me one more thing that you can do for Jesus yeah you can make your own sermon right and you could say the sermon or you can also be the sermon right how you live your life could be the servant so this is just this is what the Lord has done in my life and I know that God has something he wants to do in your life no matter your age so you're I mean that's pretty much it for tonight I hope you were blessed and I hope you remember that no matter how old you are how young how old the Lord wants to use you in this in these last days as we're getting ready for Jesus to come first I want to see you in heaven amen you want to see me there please guys amen so let's just bow our head for a word of Prayer dear Heavenly Father Lord we thank you so much for what you have done thank you for working in my life Lord and for bringing me into seventh-day Adventism into Christianity into your love in your heart thank you for loving me thank you for these children and these bigger children the adults thank you for loving them thank you for using us Lord and thank you that you are soon to come and you want all of us to be in heaven with you we praise you O Lord God in Jesus name Amen
