[Music] [Music] [Music] glory to the most high wow we are embarking on an amazing season we just came through 10 days of our come on in everybody this is the most amazing times that we are in and i'm excited about it amen amen we've just gone through ten days of all we are right into yom kippur the day of atonement yes our god is set aside a day which is the holiest day of the whole year on the hebrew calendar now we know we don't have to take animals to a high priest to allow him to atone for our sins jesus is our high priest jesus blood atoned completely for our sins but we remember what he did we remember that we're not under the law we under grace and we're able now to move into the presence of god without a mediator but we celebrate so we're fasting we're praying and we believe in god amen amen remember we're in this new year in the a pay bet god is coming to the house he's inspecting your house but today we're celebrating yonkapoor the day of atonement and guess what i got a special guest my brother from another mother rabbi israel abraham um is is coming um and um you know he and his wife his old family has been a tremendous blessing to us we've known each other forever and he's going to come and just unload unpack the revelation of where we are what god wants us to do in this season of holy of holies in this season of dedicating ourselves and moving into a place of atonement and alignment and attunement in jesus name get to know past sit back let's go into the word with my brother come on rabbi israel come on amen shalom shalom i'm israel been abraham and i'm going to talk a little bit today about yom kippur and what i'm gonna ask holy spirit to do is to sort of open up the atmosphere of our lives as we are preparing to enter into one of the lord's feet stays and you know i want to begin with the scripture that's in lamentations and it says this in lamentations 3 39-41 it says why should any living mortal or any man offer complaint in view of his sin let us examine and probe our ways and let us return to the lord we lift up our heart and hands toward god in heaven now that's lamentations and that sort of sets the atmosphere as to the attitude that we should have we have just experienced rosh hashanah which is the head of the year it's the day of blowing and we are in between uh the time of that moment in yom kippur in fact there is a shabbat called shabbat shiva where we are preparing this is turning this return to god and rosh hashanah we have been preparing the whole month of el ul the 40 days between the first of elul and we enter into yom kippur and what we're doing is we're really examining our lives we're really asking holy spirit to speak to us in a very truthful way so that we can really present a reflection of heaven in the earth so this is a time where we are very pensive we are contemplative we are we meditate on the word we allow the word to speak to us but more than anything we're really allowing the word to examine us so often we examine the word but the word examines us it's the standard by which we are to be measured it's not going to be the world system it is what the lord says and so it's a time where we are preparing to some of you may be fasting already you're praying you may be having corporate prayer in your in your communities but really it's how we look to heaven as heaven is looking to earth and when we look at yom kippur it's a day that god established it's a day of atonement and we can see all of the feast days mentioned in leviticus 23. however specifically yom kippur you see it in leviticus 16 and 29 and leviticus starting 23 starting at the 27th verse verse is what it should be okay i want to read uh just a portion of it uh 26 actually the lord spoke to moses saying on exactly the tenth day of the seventh month is the day of atonement it shall be a holy convocation for you and you shall humble your souls and present an offering by fire to the lord you shall not do any work on this same day for it is the day of atonement to make atonement for your behalf before the lord your god now you can continue reading that up into verse 32 but we see god is establishing these are the lord's feast days i know many people say the jewish days but these are the lord's days they are his appointed time it's like an appointment with god heaven is always as i said always wanting to speak to earth and one of the ways that heaven does that is through the appointed times and so when we look at this season we are in where we are able to really examine and that's what's so wonderful about the lord he is always wanting us to to return he's always wanting to have relationship with us yom kippur a day of atonement is considered the holiest day on the jewish calendar it is the the day when all of israel during the time of moses up until messiah this is when they would enter in in the high priest will go in and i'm going to talk a little bit about that in a minute but yom ki yom kippur concludes the 10 days of r as we call we have these days of our lives begin with rosh hashanah and yom kippur is the conclusion of it and so when we look at where we are we're sort of midway right now yom kippur day of atonement uh act one meant we can say that it it is an another name we call it in hebrew we'll say which is the holy day it's the day we don't most jewish people they know when you say the day you're referencing yom kippur kippur actually is a term that it's it's written in hebrew it's it's which is really plural and it's plural because of the fact that when we you know when israel would go into and meet the lord they would go in and ask god to cleanse them of their iniquity of their transgressions of their sins so there's a plural there so that's why we say yom hakapurim it's it's the plurality of yom kippur and when we look at what it is it is it it it points to two things it points to the purification for israel because that's what god used to to purify them he he established something so that there was something to follow if god doesn't establish it then you can't follow it and if he god did not establish it you should not be following it but the purification of israel is seen in the torah it's seen in the feast days on yom kippur it was it was a time when they would enter in as a nation corporately every person individually had to go but they also with their as one body of as a nation of people and the second aspect is for those among the nations who turn to god through the salvation of yeshua then there is a cleansing and a forgiveness so we have israel is dim you know we have israel who demonstrates that and they still do because many believers are jewish and that's one thing we have to remember you know believing doesn't mean christianity it's the acceptance of god's invitation and that invitation comes through his son now the the word kippur there's a root and it comes from the word kaffar and kefar which is probably derived from a hebrew word kopher which is ransom and so we're looking at the word ransom when we're looking at it parallels to a word called you know we know it as redeem and redeem is nothing more than an offering that is used in substitute of something and so when we're looking at the word kapoor it's also a covering it there's a covering that's taking place and so the term covering with a kapoor you can say ransom all those things kofir but it goes down to what was actually in the tabernacle as well as the temple there was there was a caporet the capret was the covering that covered the ark of the covenant in hebrew it covered and sometimes it is referred to as mercy seat which is really not quite as accurate as it needs to be because a better term that should be used is the place of atonement or the place where everything becomes one with god and that's amazing gabaret um it is it is where the sacrificial blood would have been sprinkled on yom kippur the high priest the koh nakado within once a year and so when we when we look at that it's so important to look at the word sacrifice so we have capourette and it's this covering it's the place where god is is accepting this sacrifice however what is the sacrifice what does that really mean and some have heard this before but for those who have not when we look at the word sacrifice it is quran quran in hebrew is not necessarily the loss of something or the forfeiture is something because so often we see sacrifices as i'm giving something up i sacrifice and sacrifice when you have it from that perspective sometimes implies some sense of loss or some kind of suffering and that's not the case because when the animal was sacrificed the animal didn't suffer so to speak as it was brought into the holy place the most holy of holies but the word sacrifice corbon means it's rooted in the word gorov which means to draw close or that which is brought near to god so a sacrifice is not necessarily a loss of something but it's something that's being brought close to god it's it it means to come near so those of you who say i give sacrificial offerings you're bringing something close to god and he doesn't see what you give he sees the attitude by which you give it because it's attached to that okay the tabernacle when we say the cover note of the sacrifices you know there were various ritual acts throughout all of these days and yom kippur had a very elaborate ritual and again i encourage you to read leviticus 23 starting at verse 26 and i'm not going to read it because it's a lengthy description there but it was meant to cleanse is what it was meant it was meant that the so that the individual including the high priest as well as the nation of israel they would be cleansed so that they would be able to draw near to god because god instituted sacrificial blood as a cleansing agent is what he did it purified the effects of sin on the defilement of sin and i read that leviticus 17 11 it says for the life of the flesh is in the blood okay i have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement so this is something that god establishes he establishes that this is what is going to be used to make atonement or to cleanse okay in ancient times yom kippur required action he required action from both the priesthood as well as the people it was this young people was not passive and the high priest was to make an atonement through the sacrifice and the people uh did their part when they practiced self-denial in other words they would refrain from work they would fast that was their participation and and all of the israel all over they had to do their part individually but it was a collective day of atonement and so by god's command the high priest he followed those specific proto he followed the pacific protocol that was required and on yom kippur you know he would bathe he would dress in this white linen he took off all that priestly he didn't wear the e5 he did with the blue he had to go in in this white linen because it represented his righteousness it there was nothing of himself he had to go in in such in a humble way and so when he put when he puts on that white linen that the garment that he wore it was he was entered in because there was a sense of there was purification taking place and he was going to go into the holies of holies the most holy place okay and it is in that place that the high priest he made two sin offerings he made a bull for his house and a goat for the people and the priest would lay the sins of the people on ahead of a second goat and we know that you know that's pretty that goat was determined it was chosen by lot and this is where we get the term escape goat and afterwards the high priest what he would do he spoke the sins and the iniquities of the people he put them on the head of the scapegoat and then he that goat would be removed into the wilderness and the one that was sacrificed would go into the holies of holies and we sort of get that example with barabbas and yeshua okay the this may all seem great to read about but how does this apply to believers some of you out there may be saying well i know i'm born i'm not jewish i'm not in israel what do i do and so we have to ask the question how does yom kippur apply to the believer today and what does yom kippur have to do with new covenant because we have this covenant of yeshua well to understand yom kippur we must see the tabernacle as well as the temple tabernacles mishkan michigan in hebrew and the temple is bait is uh mcdosh when we see those two we have to recognize that they represent their their their they are a physical representation of a spiritual realm and we can sort of summarize it very quickly we know that there is an outer court and this is all in exodus you go to exodus 25 24 you can go look at the when god establishes the tabernacle the pattern because god tells moses follow the pattern that you saw in heaven you know it's a pattern and so we have the outer court where the altar was with the animal sacrifice which represents unclean it represents death death is always unclean okay we have the holy place which is where the table of showbreads it's where the menorah is is where the altar vincent is in front of the veil and that represents sort of the clean of the clean or sanctification and then the ladder portion of the la the last realm is the most holy place which is holy which represents healing so you have unclean death clean purification then holy healing to be holy is to be healed it's to be set aside you know holy means not to go i go to church and i do everything right holy is to be set apart by god and since those who are believers in messiah have been set apart by the lord through his son that means no disease should be able to afflict us that means healing is available yes but i don't want to go down that road some biblical scholars believe that in acts 27 and i think in verse 9 that it mentions uh it mentions fast and they believe that that term fast there is referring to yom kippur and it failed during the time of the latter part of september october and culturally that was extremely important because usually sailing and you'll see that in the scripture because it talks about sailing being dangerous usually sailing the sailing season by jewish calculations and the rome lasted from chapel oat which would have been the spring the feast of weeks also known pentecost it would have gone all the way through until the feast of booths which is sukkot okay often times it's referred to as feast of tabernacles but the sailing period that's when you would sail and so historically speaking when you read that scripture in acts 27 and 9 it makes sense that possibly you know we're talking about the fast of yom kippur and that's in the book of acts because of the time of the of the sailing season would have been because no one would sell after support and it's very doubtful that they would ever sell in november because the seas were just too dangerous so we have some cultural background as to why we believe it is the fast of yom kippur in acts but in first john 14 it says in this love not that we have loved god but that he loved us and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sin so yom kippur reveals the high priest work of yeshua it is you know yeshua is a kohin hakka doll or the high priest but his high priesthood is after the order of melchizedek and you can see that in hebrews 5 and 10 in hebrews 6 and 20 and in fact all the book of hebrews points to a lot of the rituals of the tabernacle yeshua offers his own body up as a perfect sacrifice for sin and his shed blood gives us complete atonement no complete atonement is given before the lord through him and in second corinthians 5 21 it says for our sake he made him who knew no sin what he made him to be sin but he knew no sin so that we in him in him in him we might become the righteousness of god so for our sake he he made him to be sin but he didn't know sin okay and so when we look at the levitical ritual system of the temple in the tabernacle the animal sacrifices and all that they had to do the blood the spattering the this and you know there was so much involved it they all foreshadow the true and abiding sacrifice of yeshua you know because it is in yeshua that the reconciliation between god and man takes place hebrews 9 and 22 says and according to the law one may say mos you know one may almost say all things are cleansed by blood and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin now we look back in leviticus in 17 and saw how god established what was to be used for the atonement and how so we have a reference to what is being said here yeshua is the propitiation he's the expiation for our sin in romans 3 25 you see it in in first john 2 2 and actually in hebrews 9 24 i'll read just a couple of verses for christ did not enter a holy place made with hands a mere copy of the true one but into heaven itself now to appear in the presence of god for us in hebrews 10 14 it says for by one offering he has perfected for all those who are sanctified so yom kippur is it has a lot of language for salvation so it should be extremely important for those who believe in messiah yeshua for believers in yeshua who is the scapegoat it is a picture of how messiah who is sent as the atoning sacrifice for our sin in fact first john 4 10 it says this like the scapegoat yeshua receives our iniquities and transgressions and takes them from us unlike the scapegoat his sacrifice is good for all and it's good for all time not just not just then but now and always rather than needing to repeat it from year to year because up until yeshua they would have to offer the sacrifice over and over again now young could work yom kippur can be a challenge for for believers it can be a challenge especially if you're not used to the feast days you don't understand them you say all that's old testament that doesn't apply to me but every feast is a foreshadow of yeshua so it does we you know many people say well what do i do do we fast and confess our sins like the rest of the of israel like the rest of the jewish community i do we rejoice and the knowledge that we have uh been granted a lasting forgiveness in messiah whether you're like what do we do people would say well he fulfilled all that why do i have to do that well first and foremost let me address a jewish believer jewish believers view yom kippur as a time for identifying with israel okay therefore is a time for introspection it's it's it's a time for asking the difficult questions it's a time for having the courage to hear the lord it's a time for allowing the holy spirit to bring the changes that are necessary from us surrendering from the obedience and this is how it is seen it is also a time of intercession it's when we pray for people our loved ones we pray for nations remember israel stood as a nation though they were individually there but they were one nation before god so it's a time where you know this is cutting away from the things in la in our life and really press him in we know it is yeshua who is the one who makes us one with god we know that however believers in yeshua can still observe yom kippur and for those of you who do observe it you recognize that yom kippur is about the focus of one's heart although we particularly focus on our need to repent and and the forgiveness on that day we know that we have received the ultimate lasting atonement through yeshua the messiah son of god we know that however there is a wrong way to repenting sometimes people repent and i'm gonna talk a little bit about that okay so what does that mean repentance that happens out of self-interest is selfish let me define that for you it is when a person is repenting because of how you've been affected okay it's how you've been affected it is only out of self-interest you're only really concerned you know i'm tired of this so let me do this there's no genuine heart examination okay excuse me there's also i repented a repentance a repentance that is self-righteous are self-righteous and that's equally as wrong as self-interest because that's what a person is repenting to earn their righteousness do you think it's a it's a works that's no it's all on yeshua neither self-interest or self-righteous can atone any sin only yeshua's blood only his sacrifice can do that um [Music] when we have either of those as the motivating factors [Music] it will not it cannot demonstrate the lord's love and grace at the level of messiah because of the self effort that is involved it can't do it like king david like he said in psalms 51 and 4 he says against you only you have i sinned and done what is evil in your sight so that you are justified when you speak and blameless when you judge now we know what he had did with uriah and everything but he he's going before god and he's recognizing against you and only you father have i said and so when we are in this season of yom kippur and we are repenting and we are confessing and we are praying and we are fasting all of those terms can be summarized in one word it's tishova it's repentance literally means return it is the soul's capacity to return to the lord as it was originally intended and though we pass through life and we are defiled by errors and mistakes you know it's it's simply the opportunity that god gives us that he carves if you can imagine he carves out a space a window in time yom kippur is the window and he comes into that window to see who shows up all of us experience seasons in life where we can get in very dark deep places we can get off course things can happen that's life and sometimes those things can be so devastating so dark where it seems like there's no way out but the truth is with god there is always a path toward light always he wants no one to perish whatsoever and and and there may be some things maybe in your life where you you were involved in the doing uh in the undoing you you may be the victim of someone else's wrongdoing and the result of that has placed you in a dark place in a off place from god where you can't you know you think i've messed up too bad there's no way but i can tell you today god has a first love for you that is available to you always so we can confess and repent at any given point throughout the year but in this moment in this season of yom kippur is extremely special because it is a day that god said i will meet you whatever the circumstances are i encourage you to take responsibility for your part return to the lord trust that he is able and willing to create that path that will move you out of that dark place into his light you know godly return should only be concerned with the fact of how we have rebelled against god not what someone has done to us not what possibly we have done or said to someone else it's always as david against you and only you father have i sinned so when we are in this yom kippur make sure you think of that when you have thought something when you have said something when you have acted in a way it was against the lord when we look at the vertical nature when i say vertical i'm saying toward heaven the vertical nature of rebellion it removes our ability to have a horizontal demonstration of that experience because rebellion is there there must be a real vertical experience in other words a real encounter with god a real encounter with heaven for there to be a horizontal reality for you to have relationships with with yourself and with those around you in all relationships come out of the relationship that you have with god okay we are to seek the lord while he can be found we are to call upon him while he's near it says let the wicked forsake his way let the unrighteous man his thoughts this is isaiah 55 6-7 you know let him return that's to shabbat let him return and he says the lord will have compassion on him and and and like god will pardon and this is you know we know that god is speaking to israel but this is for all those who are who call upon the name of the lord god spoke to israel in malachi he says i have loved you and you know what's so amazing the response in the prophet he says well how have you loved us sometimes many of us have that attitude and don't realize it when we consider the qualities of the lord's choice they're very unique it is unlike human choice because human choice is an exercise of decision making and typically that exercise of making decision is specific to whatever it it you know is advantageous to you our characteristics are of an object or something that you need so it's based on you are the subject of your decision and the lord is not that way the lord's choices are made within the essence of who he is and they are not contingent upon anything god doesn't choose based on a mood based on what he wants he's creator he's got everything the earth is his everything is his so he doesn't have to get anything that he creates is his but his choice to love us is out of the essence of who he is i want you to think about that recently i shared something and it was an amazing thing that god opened up to us because the question i ask you is when has god ever stopped loving you when has he ever stopped loving you never never god has never stopped loving us humanity creation everything is created this is our starting point that's where you begin that is not where you end that is your starting point i call it a portal moment god's love is not contingent upon anything his love is unconditional when he's speaking to israel at the time in malachi it's an eternal love it's an everlasting love for his people but it's the same language that he uses for the world for god so loved the world he gave his only begotten son whosoever believe shall not perish but have life eternal the key is not only believing in yeshua but believing in the god believing in the love that god has for you when you believe in the love that god has for you you're able to receive the salvation you're able to receive the power of yom kippur as blood redeemed born again eternal sons of god we know this is in yeshua the greatest commandment that he gave is to love the lord your god with everything all your heart soul mind strength everything our entirety of our being is to love him but it's not a love apart from the love that we have it is the love that god gives to you that you love out of okay it is a love that causes us to cleave to the father it's it's a love that gives us a an experience with righteousness and holiness it takes us into the supernatural into what is always present in god that may not be present in the earth because of defilement of sin it's blocked because of sin there's a veil a go-between can't get to it what's so amazing about cleveland to god god is all around us constantly wanting to to touch our lives so that he can touch the earth and through us and one of the things that he does it is through dreams and visions dreams and visions are a form of god pleading to you guys when he shows you something he's trying to wake us up when he speaks something to us so god is always speaking but yom kippur reminds us that there is no self-effort there is no might there is no power but it's by the spirit who calls us his it is the resurrection of yeshua it is the blood that carries his life that brings us into this place the lord's appointed times are holy days in their own merit with their rewards this is extremely important jewish people the way you know we regard me when we look at the appointed times there's sanctuaries within time there are opportunities to engage the spiritual world they we enter into a holy dimension we receive the blessing from eternal father it's not just a religious ritual it is actually an experience it is an encounter that shifts us from one plane to another these are elevated moments all of the lords these days but we're into yom kippur and if it's considered the holiest day and holy means separation it is the greatest moment of our elevation because we're coming before him through the blood of the lamb who has atoned us we set aside our life with great intention it's not rushed it's not religious but it's out of the relationship we have with the father we set our life aside for prayer real contemplative time with the lord we draw close as we present ourselves a living sacrifice holy and acceptable because this is our reasonable service the feast days continue you know when we when we look at them and we take them into consideration they allow us the experience of an annual cycle of sanctification that keeps us on track with the lord especially yom kippur we grow we mature in messiah we we we have the privilege it's a privilege and honor don't ever think it's your right it is a privilege and an honor to avail our lives to the lord in this time because we get to connect to something much greater than us he draws us by his loving kindness and it's just a simple matter of obedience the biblical feasts we know they're prophetic outlines of yeshua and they provide for us a foretaste of the kingdom of heaven the kingdom of god they are sort of the blueprint that points to the kingdom it's not you know it's not when a person dies and going to heaven the kingdom of heaven no it is the rule and the rain through the perfect sacrifice to be sure right now now is the time there is an accounting of the soul there's a you know we there's an accounting that we do it's where we go and we as i said we look at the word over our lives and we begin to really allow the holy spirit to speak to us the necessary corrections but also show us the wonderful joyous moments where god has been pleased there's a clean slate for all who believe and are able to receive in this time to be born again is to be someone you've never seen in the earth yom kippur provides an avenue to reach another dimension of who you are that you've never known before so that you can demonstrate the lord's kingdom in and through his love that you have received it is the greatest demonstration of our love to god when we show up for the appointed times we humble ourselves we fast we pray we don't pray fast but we fast and we pray and we ask the holy spirit to remove all that defiles us we confess our sins with our heart and intention of never going back to answer to that name again let me let me explain what i'm saying a sinner is is a person that is answering to the wrong name they may answer to lust they may be answering to pride they may be answered to the name of you know some of you may be answering now to the so to unforgiveness and to to to bitterness some people may answer to sexual sin some people may answer to greed and you know you're answering to the wrong name it's what you're doing okay that's why i often tell people when you want to see salvation come upon a person's life pray the prayer father let them hear you when you call them by their name their real name who they really are and you for you who have been wounded and you still live in the memory of that you know and when you when you live in a memory it creates an image you you you live out of that memory and you present that image to the world and you don't realize that's what you're doing but ask holy spirit to remove the effects of the sovereignty of a person in other words that person made a choice whether they realize they did it whether they did it on purpose is irrelevant there was a choice made and the effects of that choice has a power over you which is why you're still hurt so we cannot undo what they did but we can ask the spirit of the holy spirit to remove the power that affects us because of the choice that they have made ask ask for that as believers we want our life to always reflect you know where the lord wants us to be where he has us in himself so we return our hearts that's first love so often we say lord i give you my heart there's even songs that say i give you my heart well if you've given god your heart your heart is no longer in the room of earth but it's now in heaven so tell me what does it receive what does it have now that you're able to to carry inside of yourself so we return with the whole heart ask god to return your mind you know you uh are you you're telling him really lord i i turn to you i'm returning my heart to you i turn my mind to you that means i want his thoughts i wrote my mind renewed you you return your tongue your turn tongues oh it's james so it's a it's a it kindles a lot of fire so you're saying i want my tongue to become a fountain of life it's what i want it to become but it begins with your heart begins with the new renewing of your mind all unforgiveness and bitterness will cause us to miss opportunities in god and so we ask god to to sort of release us so that we can be reconciled there's a thing that we say in hebrew and i'm going to close here because yom kippur is a day of covering it's a day of of unity across those who believe and we get to come into this beautiful place and it's in the eternals of god and it's when we say [Music] hades what did i just say i said turn us back to you o lord hashem adonai turn turn us back to you and we shall return and we shall be turned we shall return renew our days of old so in this season of yom kippur turn to him who's never turned away from you but who has provided a way of first love and light field life through and in the life of yeshua amen shalom [Music] wow i know i know you were blessed that word just blessed me tremendously you know he he has a king sense of the word of god um he's trained under some amazing amazing minds and god has just given him revelation of the spirit of impartation and impact and i know that word just it it just blessed me all over you have to listen intently follow closely and hear what the spirit of the lord is saying thank you rabbi for always coming through and blessing us amen amen come on y'all give god praise for the man of god amen amen amen look if you never make jesus messiah your lord of your life i want to do that right now the bible says confess with your mouth and believe in your heart and you shall be saved now that's just the first part it's not the only part the first part is getting introduced into the kingdom getting in through the door but you don't stay at the door you go and explore the kingdom that means you have responsibilities in the kingdom not just to get saved as an insurance policy but to live as a son of god and i want to give you that opportunity now to rule to reign and have authority by coming out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of his dear son
