can stand you're ready to worship the lord if you're at home take whatever posture necessary to get ready and we're going to make war tonight that's what we do in the kingdom of god our songs and our to gather together in the place of prayer and to believe god for what only god can do we are very very excited tonight not only because we have the opportunity to be here with you again but we're very excited to announce also that our students have returned to campus somebody say amen and they are getting geared up to get ready for the start of a brand new school year and once again you're going to have the opportunity from home or from wherever uh you stream this service you're going to have the opportunity to hear from them as they pray as they lead us in prayer and it's so wonderful they add such an excitement and such a vibrant dynamic to this prayer meeting and so we are just so excited to have them back on campus with us and we know that they're excited as well to be a part of what god is doing in these meetings tonight i want to pray as i was reading through the requests that have come in over the past seven days my heart was just really moved to pray for those who are just feeling a sense of hopelessness and helplessness those tonight who would say that i find myself up against seemingly insurmountable odds you would even say tonight that you feel threatened and you feel as though if something doesn't change in your life whether it's a reoccurring sin problem where it's whereas it's a maybe a failure on the part of your spouse some recurring problem that's taking place in your marriage or something on your job and and you feel as though if something doesn't change the testimony of god in your life is is going to suffer you're going to suffer a sense of of defeat and despair i've read as i said a number of requests over the past week of people uh who feel depressed people who are filled with anxiety hopelessness and fear and you know oftentimes in these places it's it's very easy to give way to the voice of our adversary and to believe that where we are is where we have to stay forever it's very easy to become convinced that it's impossible to break free from the cycle that we find ourselves in whether it's this cycle of bondage to sin or whatever it might be just before the service i was talking to a few people about a story in second chronicles chapter 20 and in this story there were heathen nations that had gathered together to wage war against the nation of israel and and the he the nations that had gathered against israel they were so large and they were so formidable that in the natural israel did not stand a chance the the threat against israel was very real and and no doubt there were many even jehoshaphat at first who were trapped by this sense of hopelessness and helplessness in the face of such odds of such assured defeat but although jehoshaphat was initially intimidated by this threat the bible says that he began to pray he didn't try to figure things out he didn't try to do things in his own power the bible just says that he and his people began to seek the lord they realized that if god didn't do something nothing was going to change and in essence jehoshaphat's word to god was god we don't know what to do in the face of these odds but god you do god we are weak we are powerless but you are not and god what you've done for our fathers in times past you are able to do again in this generation and god spoke through the prophet to jehoshaphat and to the people of israel and this was his word to them this battle is not yours it's the lord's stand still and see the salvation of the lord and i believe that this is god's word to you tonight those of you who are struggling with sin those of you who are struggling with marital problems you've tried everything in your power to get yourself out of this and to figure something out but i want you to know tonight that jesus through the cross secured for you an incredible victory he made a way for your sin to lie dormant at your feet he made a way for you to be free from anxiety and depression you don't have to stay there all the days of your life this battle is the lord's trust and believe that what jesus has done is sufficient to free you from this bondage that you're experiencing tonight and so we're going to believe and i just want to share one testimony that's come in it's from a woman from california who said god delivered me from a 15-year cigarette addiction tonight is the sixth night praise god he still answers prayer and i want you to know that what god has done for donna amen give god praise what god has done for donna he can do for you tonight and that's what we're going to believe i'm going to pray and then one of our senior students mark is going to follow me father we come to you tonight in the name of jesus and father we thank you for the opportunity that we have to come to you in the place of prayer father we pray for those tonight who feel surrounded by death lord those who feel surrounded by threats lord those who feel as though they are surrounded by their bondage and their sin father we pray that in the midst of their captivity in the midst of their fear they would look up from whence comes their help their help comes from the lord god we ask that you would help them to lift up their eyes lift up their eyes above their sin above their problems above the uncertainty and let their eyes behold the god who does not change let their eyes behold the god who is able to do all things let their eyes tonight behold the god who has wrought victories for people in times past and the god who is still able and willing to do it in our generation today father let their hearts be stirred to faith tonight that god what you have done through jesus christ is not just for other people but it's for them as well salvation is for them freedom is for them joy is for them god it is the inheritance that you have given us through the blood of your son jesus christ and father we pray that our hearts would be stirred to believe that stirred to trust that tonight and god just as we heard this testimony from donna god that we would hear many more over the next few weeks god concerning your freedom and your salvation that you've brought to your people in jesus name we pray amen and amen um god we just we want to thank you for your love and that you're always there and you see us in our pains and our struggles and god i just pray for the hopeless people god i just pray that you would give them a confidence of your love and that you would just shower it over them with hope and peace and that god i just pray that mostly that their situation that that you would just be glorified through it and that you would just come through and then they could do nothing but praise you and give you acknowledgement and saying no god you you are great and then let that sorrow worship in them just give them that hope god we we can't do anything in our own strength but there's specific times where you have where you have it where you want to come through and you will be glorified and god yeah i just pray for them god i messed up so many times and i thought you left me so many times but god you still remain faithful because that's your character and you're not going to deny your own character that's impossible for you and we just thank you for that steadiness that rock that we can depend on and yeah god i just pray for these people that you would just give them a hope and that there is there's always hope if they're still living god there's o there's always hope we can just cry out to you and you're always faithful you're always faithful god in your name amen [Music] the weapon may be formed but it won't prosper [Music] when the darkness falls it won't prove cause the it i serve knows only how to try home my god will never fail my god will never fail i'm gonna see your victory i'm gonna see a victory [Music] i'm [Music] [Music] hallelujah thank you all of you again for joining us for prayer i want to continue praying in direction that brother ross was praying which is the theme of spiritual warfare spiritual warfare this desire in my heart has been on my heart for the whole week to pray in that direction uh and the reason for it was an experience that i went through uh earlier this month that was a little bit uh unpleasant and maybe even embarrassing me and my wife and our kids took a short trip to new york this is where all of our kids were born we just wanted them to see new york again and they were missing the city so i told my wife i want to go to the area for a few hours where we used to live which is briarwood in jamaica queens i really love that area i we thought when we got married with my wife who would never leave from there we were ministering to jewish people from uzbekistan and uh if any one of you ever been to a jewish ministry you know that you're there for life you know yeah uh and so i i was convinced i will never leave the area but i really i really loved it uh there and then god suddenly uh called us to ukraine 10 years ago there is a park there that people usually don't walk through because of this guy who sits in the middle of the park on a bench and i don't remember really how long he's been there like it feels like he's been there forever uh and i tried to talk to him uh maybe at least once but i forgot that he he gets violent because i haven't been there for a while so this time you know i kind of remembered about the park so being a good christian i got donuts and some coffee and i decided to walk through the park and there he is again when you start talking to him you know sometimes he screams out and people usually don't even go through that alley in the park but uh i you know i i haven't been there for so many years so i went to him i gave him the coffee and the donuts and so i thought you know i did my christian warfare with the guy and i started to talk to him so for a few minutes he was very friendly and then suddenly his eyesight changed and i kind of missed the moment because i'm not really like into deliverance ministry or i haven't had so many experiences like this and he suddenly stopped me and he said listen let me tell you something and the guy you know he has like a bottle on one side and he's holding something on the other side so it almost felt strange that he got like sober right like in front of me uh and i don't think it was the coffee that i brought him i'm not even sure if he was drinking it he said you know how many of your type came here trying to talk to me about god let me to tell you a few things so i was like you know i wanted to let him uh allow him to speak and that was my mistake because the things he started to tell me i knew they were like not coming from his brain because like if i wanted to hurt me you know badly i would start speaking in that direction so he had no like there was no way he had uh information of that type you know so it it was happening very slow uh very quickly so i didn't realize that i'm not talking to a man anymore it's a spirit and he basically told me you know what your coffee and donuts are not gonna work on me uh just go home and prepare better next time you talk to me that's what he basically told me you know so it was kind of embarrassing uh i i remembered at that point already that last time i talked to him he was getting a little bit violent so um i just you know i just left i said uh i said you know jesus can deliver you from that but that wasn't enough it wasn't enough but one thing got into my spirit i said you know what devil you got me mad now because you've been controlling that park for so long and uh it's just one guy filled with i don't know how many spirits he he is filled so okay you want to fight i said i'm going to go back to worldwide prayer and i'm going to name that territory and i'm going to ask the whole world to pray now for that park so this is what i want to do today i have a prayer request too let's pray for briarwood queens new york and let's pray for all other areas that our brothers and sisters are writing in from all around the world because sometimes we christians we retrieve into this position when we see darkness swallowing up entire areas entire states entire countries and we say all these things ought to come these things ought to come but it doesn't mean that you ought not to pray no you should be praying and you should be taking the stand so we're gonna pray tonight and i encourage all of my brothers and sisters online please submit your prayer requests please ride in your cities and towns where you are please please do that so we can stand with you together praying for specific areas maybe god will put something on your heart that we don't know about that you know about the area let's we're going to be doing it i'm going to ask brother roger to come and pray in a few seconds and i'm going to uh name a few of these uh places it says from uh from brother uh rolf uh pray for the church in afghanistan for strength and divine wisdom in this earliest time for mighty spiritual awakening in this nation we're going to pray continue pray for nation of afghanistan pray for the people in haiti that haiti i'm sorry that they can rest in their hearts and find jesus during this time of disaster please pray help us pray against sin and corruption affecting our countries brazil it says decisions god's favor and protection for those who fear him and also there was another uh request from panama the country of panama and they were asking please pray for god to intervene in a division between the churches in the country of panama let's stand up together let's pray for briarwood in queens new york where that uh man has been controlling the park let's pray for your town let's pray for uh your city let's take a stand everywhere where you are and we are going to pray hallelujah lord jesus we thank you god we thank you god you have everything under control lord god and yes these things ought to come but you told us to pray you tell you told us to take a stand lord jesus sometimes it's easier to go in front of the city hall and weigh flags and find ourselves among people we usually wouldn't even do it uh anything together rather than pray but jesus tonight we are going to pray we pray for new york lord jesus we pray for queensland god we pray that your revival would come there revive churches lord jesus revive missionaries send new people there let god put on the hearts of people to pray lord jesus we pray for brazil lord jesus we pray for panama lord jesus we continue to pray for afghanistan oh lord jesus you put us there where we are lord god to take a stand and to continue to pray because as brother ross was saying today already this is the mightiest uh weapon that you have given us all lord jesus please lord jesus help us lord god not to give up help us not to give in to darkness lord jesus but yes devil wants a fight and we will give him a fight but all together with prayer lord jesus and when we go there again lord god we know that your angels already have been there to that bench on on the um in the park lord god and this is how we win this is how we win lord god waging the spiritual war but not a physical war in the mighty name of jesus i pray hallelujah lord jesus hallelujah lord god hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah thank you lord hallelujah father thank you thank you for your goodness tonight thank you wonderful savior hallelujah we praise you and thank you father that you have called us to be a part of your army to fight with you o god and you're the very one that strengthens this army of god hallelujah so we thank you father strengthen our inner man tonight even now by the power of the holy ghost i pray make us your warriors your soldiers in your army o god thank you that you've chosen us so god that you can confound of god the wisdom of this world oh god be glorified tonight teach us holy spirit how to pray your heart and your mind almighty god hallelujah father we lift up these areas of the world almighty god who are stuck in darkness oh god who are captivated by the prince of the power of the arrow god the enemy oh god of our souls oh god we pray oh god that you'd push back hell almighty god you said in your word that if even two or three would agree as touching any one thing oh god it would be done hallelujah so tonight we're asking you for father you'd bring deliverance o god to your creational god hallelujah in jesus name father you would honor your word it says that you said your word and you healed them and you delivered them from their destruction so we ask you almighty god but by the power of the holy ghost you would send your word in this earth you would send forth laborers o god you would strengthen your servants oh god you would encourage them not to give up o god help them not to grow faint oh god raise up people to pray for those people who are weary in your body tonight oh god that they would not lose heart oh god and they would know that their labor is not in vain oh god hallelujah but when the time comes they shall reap oh god hallelujah father give them a heart for those around them oh god we pray oh god that you'd rip the doors off oh god the muslim countries oh god off the communist countries oh god rip them off the hinges o god and shine the light of your glorious gospel o god let your love be seen o god i pray for a revelation of your love would be so great o god that it would captivate the the heart that's in the darkest places oh god because it's your love father i believe that is greater father we know the enemy uses fear and he uses violence that's all he can use but father your love is greater than these two things and we ask that a greater revelation of your love of your son would be given to this generation that they would have the opportunity to come out of darkness and come into your marvelous light and we ask it in the precious name of your son jesus christ hallelujah hallelujah [Music] the spirit of the lord is upon me i'm anointed to bring hope the promise fulfilled in a moment we're still watching it unfold and there's good news for the captive a proclamation for every [Music] amen there's true joy in his freedom i want to pray for those that put in prayer requests for anxiety tonight there's a request from edison new jersey that says please pray for me for the last few months have been struggling with fear and anxiety for the first time in 57 years i will continue to pray and sing my praises there's another one from queens new york that says pray god to be near me and cure all that i face i have anxiety and depression over work my son my life and all life's issues another one from columbus ohio my husband is too stressed out and full of anxiety another one that says rhonda is having anxiety issues she is to start a new job but is unable to sleep needs a healing touch so whether you're facing anxiety because of thoughts in your head because of new circumstances in your life whether it's something that has come out of your control or just a new season that you're stepping into we're just going to pray tonight for the peace of god to rest upon your mind heavenly father god we thank you that you say in scripture to not be anxious about anything but through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving to make your request known to god lord so we want to start off tonight by just thanking you thanking you for the simple things thanking you that you tell us that your mercies are new every morning god every day that we wake up it's a gift already because you've given us life every day we wake up there's new mercies that await us god everything that's happened in the past everything that's happened in the future or that's going to happen in the future god at that moment it doesn't matter your mercies are new for that day for this day god we thank you that you say that your grace is sufficient for us there's not going to be a moment where it's too much because we have the strength and the grace of god to rely on god we thank you that you're just present with us i want to encourage those who are just having those anxious thoughts those that anxiety that wants to envelop them now just to thank god that he's present thank jesus that he is present with you right now i want you to envision that to realize that father we thank you that you're present with us god and we speak to those anxious thoughts those some some of us are facing lies in our mind god that are trying to convince us of things that are contrary to what you have said about us and they're causing us to be anxious god i pray that you silence that in jesus name god those anxious thoughts that want to take over i pray that the still small voice of god would drown out the roars of the enemy in jesus name god if there's new circumstances in our lives that are causing us to just be stressed out because of new seasons and new places lord i pray that you put put us to rest got to think of the student body here tonight i know many have come here for the first time and i'm sure some are just anxious about what this next season in their life is going to look like what what you're going to do in their life and lord i just pray that right now that you would place their mind to rest god that they would know that this is where you've called them that you have a plan for them and that you have a purpose in jesus name god i pray for those that have started school all across the country for high schools and for colleges lord i know that studies and and and going to school can bring so much anxiety and stress in people's life god and i'm just praying for the peace of god to rest on all minds we thank you that that we can walk in the freedom of christ we thank you for your presence god and we just bless you in the name of jesus amen amen we believe that generosity is when you take the opportunity to serve give and advocate for those around you god has already put inside of you everything you need to make an impact in your community and yesterday thanks to your amazing generosity times square church we were able to serve and give backpacks and school supplies to kids and families in need in our community right here in new york city as they begin a new school year take a look at this video and see your generosity in action yesterday today we had the opportunity to be the hands and feet of jesus right here in manhattan you have no idea how much this helps for the parents it makes such a huge impact for them to get new backpacks and they got the color of their choice this is so exciting this is my first time coming and i hope this event continues to help families in the future thank you very much i got a whole lot of kids they go through bags like crazy so it helps to get it back and then you know get them ready for school [Music] my wife ended up going to the backpack jam in 2018 um she was offered prayer and there were sisters there who believed in jesus christ and they prayed for her um for two things one was for healing for herself and for the family and the other one was for god to reach me at my own hope in my own heart a month later that prayer the holy spirit the lord used god came into my life came into my heart came into my spirit and into my mind i woke up different i started believing in god i started believing in the lord jesus christ we want to thank time square church for also blessing others during this event as well um for praying as as a body of christ and we encourage each and every one of you to always seek the lord and we give god all the glory and praises and honor amen [Music] hundreds of backpacks were given away today because of the church whether you were here or not we're filled with our own wisdom but when we realize our need of you then you become god and you do the work that only you can do for the glory of your name alone so lord jesus christ we yield ourselves tonight to the sharing of your word we yield ourselves to the presence of your holy spirit wield our bodies as a living sacrifice to you for your divine purpose which you tell us in your word is only our reasonable service so give us the grace my god to be yielded give us the ears to hear the hearts to learn eyes to see my god this is a dark and darkened generation we now live in there's a worldwide war against truth lord jesus only you you're the only one we've heard it all night you're the only one that can push back the darkness whether it's in a park or a person whatever it is god you're the only one that can push this darkness back and we stand as those early believers in god once did and we confess lord that we need your presence we need your power we need your anointing we need you to guide us and lead us we need you to be god to us lord we need to be god through us for your holy name's sake and to satisfy your own heart that sent you to a cross we ask you to glorify your name oh god almighty glorify the name of your son jesus christ send the holy spirit o god in a deeper way than any of us have ever known in our lifetime and begin to do a work god that only you can do help us to understand god truths that we may have resisted give us the grace to yield to bend our need to you that you can be god to this generation one more time and we thank you for it in jesus name amen amen thank you everyone here you may be seated in the sanctuary and special greetings to all of the the brand new faces those that are returning for year number two at our bible school here at summit international school of ministry and those who are here for the very first time the first year we're going to get the cameras working again next week and be able to show some of you from at least from the back anyway worshiping god so that it's so wonderful for people around the world to be able to see young people worshiping god the way that you do because this is a a generation that would have you and i believe that the days of young people believing in jesus christ have come to an end well we've come here to prove that to be false that's not true we are the army of god we're the soldiers of christ we're the church of the living christ and we thank god that he's going to use each of our lives for his glory in the days ahead so welcome welcome those that are with us online for those that have joined us from all around the world tonight our predominant prayer requests are coming in from canada the us from finland from kazakhstan we have 12 in from kazakhstan tonight from brazil from nigeria and from the uk and ireland these are the predominant prayer requests that have come in this evening as well as many more from around the world i want to talk to you tonight i want to share a word uh for people in a similar condition to the prayer request that i'm about to read and after we share the word of god we're going to be going to communion together so take this opportunity at home in your fellowship group or whether you're with people or alone or part of a connect group with times square church and get some bread and some crackers or some juice and be prepared to celebrate the victory of our lord and savior jesus christ on the cross for you we're going to celebrate that together after this word is shared this evening and we always encourage you every week when this prayer meeting is over if whether you're alone or whether you're with other people stay and pray stay and pray remember those two words well three words actually if you include and but stay and pray pray for god's holy spirit to come and empower you pray for the ability that only god can give to stand to be a living witness in this generation just stay and pray pray for the baptism of the holy spirit pray that god would fill you from the crown of your head to the souls of your feet for we can't do what we're called to do without the holy spirit of god in this or any other generation i want to speak to charles tonight in malawi who says please pray for me to stand still in christ and that the lord equips me with the resources to win souls for the kingdom of god well charles first of all you're wise to pray that the lord would would help you to stand still in christ that's that's really what we're going to talk a little bit about tonight and kata from chile crying to jesus for help i feel no strength or desire to live the baby depends on my care i've known the gospel for years but i often can't rise up and even get out of bed ken from florida says prayer for my sanctification to fall in love with jesus to be kind and to quit drinking uh ina from washington says i've walked away from god again i'm struggling with depression please pray that god would show me mercy and love i know that he is near and shane from saint catherine's canada shane says that i'm tired of trying and failing i'm tired of trying to be good i'm tired of living in my own strength i need living water i need to be filled with the spirit and so we're going to believe that that deep cry of every heart that is submitted tonight is going to be entered as we look in the word of god and i want to talk to everybody online who's and everybody who's here who's going through this kind of struggle or wants to make a difference in the kingdom of god and in this world to i want to talk about how to get to the place of moses getting to the place of moses now it seems like an odd title but you'll understand it as we dig into it a little bit first corinthians chapter 2 if you have your bible with you first corinthians chapter 2 and we're going to begin reading it verse 1. the apostle paul the great apostle paul the apostle paul who was a master theologian the apostle paul who had understanding of the mysteries of god in a deeper way than probably anybody in his or any other generation peter the apostle said he writes things that are hard to be understood he understood mysteries he was he was taken by god into into heavenly places and these he told us in the word that he saw things that were not even lawful to speak about god loved this man drew him up into his presence gave him revelation paul had the spiritual authority to direct the church he could stand against devils of hell he could he had a word from god in the midst of storms he knew how to bring people to safety but listen to his testimony about himself because we ask ourselves where did paul get this power how was the power of god made so powerfully known through this man's life here's one of the keys he says and i brethren when i came to you did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of god it didn't mean that he couldn't speak or he wasn't wise but the wisdom he had and the ability to speak that he had came from god this is what paul was saying it was not that which the world offers it was not i was not eloquent in my delivery and and i wasn't standing before you in such a way that you were drawn to me and not to christ that's in effect what he was saying and it's very easy for those of us who stand in pulpits to unwittingly draw to ourselves because of eloquence because of talent because of ability because maybe quite often speakers have an ability to phrase things and put things together that leaves their audience standing looking in awe and speakers can often unwittingly turn the attention of the people away from jesus christ and to themselves the evidence of that is when people leave the building talking about the preacher and not talking about the savior isn't bob wonderful didn't bob preach a great message today isn't bob this and isn't bob that and the reality is they've lost sight of christ because bob was way too big he's much bigger than he should have been and paul says i brethren when i came to you did not come with excellence as speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of god for i determined not to know anything among you except jesus christ and him crucified in other words i didn't i didn't want to bring any i didn't want to focus on anything i didn't want to bring anything into your midst but this amazing wonderful redemption that was bought for us through the cross of jesus christ and the incredible power of god that is available to those of us who believe in him when his holy spirit comes upon us we are taken from where we are and we are made into that which god would have us to be not that which we desire to be but that which god desires us to be it's incredible because when you look in paul's life he's technically saying this the way up is down the way to strength is through weakness the way to wisdom is through acknowledging that we don't have any wisdom in ourselves it's when we're empty of ourselves then suddenly god is available to doing us what only god can do i was with you in weakness in fear and in much trembling in my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom but in demonstration of the spirit and of power that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of god here's what paul is saying there was there was nothing in me when you looked at me there was nothing in me that you should desire me or even desire to be like me you looked and you saw a frail vessel you saw a man who was not with you in natural strength but actually in weakness who was not overconfident but was wholly dependent upon god to the point where i stood before you in fear and in trembling and my speech and my preaching were not such that your focus was drawn to me but you looked at me because you were being strangely moved upon in your hearts you were being moved upon to draw closer to god then you looked and you came to the conclusion that only god could be giving this man the ability that he has only god could be speaking through him because as i look at him in the natural there's nothing about him that should cause me to be feeling the way i am feeling i'm telling you when god finds a surrendered vessel there is power in the words that god gives to that man or that woman and you might not be the most eloquent speaker and you might not be the most magnificent looking person that ever stood and spoke about jesus christ but there is something in you of him that causes the heart to tremble that's hearing you there's something in you that causes the words that god gives you to go right through the center court people are sitting there listening and they don't fully understand it but they're saying it's as if you're speaking to only me in the room and it felt like your words were going right through into my heart and examining the contents of my very soul and not just leaving me in distress but lifting me up and giving me courage to go forward into the future to believe that what god has done for you he can do for me as well we do an incredible disservice to the body of christ or to the seeking sinner when we draw to ourselves as if the sinner has to look something like us to say that the spirit of god is upon them best that we should be weak that the weak among us could understand that there are no respected persons with god but what god does through one he is well able to do through another now paul had gotten to the place where moses once was and in our generation i want to suggest it's a place where we need to return to it's a place where you and i need to be again if god is going to use our lives in any measure of glory in this generation now let me explain what i mean by this in the book of acts chapter 7 when stephen the young disciple just before he was stoned to death is making a i say a brilliant defense of the gospel of jesus christ if you read through it it's an amazing defense only the holy spirit could have given him the words that he spoke but in his defense he takes a measure of what he says he talks about moses now in verse 20 22 he says moses was learned in acts chapter 7 verse 22 moses was learned in all the wisdom of the egyptians and was mighty in words and deeds so here's this man moses he's drawn out of the river he is raised by pharaoh's daughter as her own son he obviously has access to the finest education he's got access to fine culture he's taught by the greatest tutors in the nation he's going to be a ruler he's going to be a leader in egypt and stephen says under the inspiration of the holy spirit that he is he is mighty in speech he's got an incredible command perhaps you can just see him standing and be on on the steps of the palace he would have been in and giving a narration and everybody is listening to him and thinking this is our future leader this this is this man is a great leader and he said he was mighty in words and in deeds so that means he had abilities that were given to him to build to do things perhaps to put together armies we don't know exactly all that he was doing now when he was 40 years old it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of israel and seeing one of them suffer wrong he defended and avenged him who was oppressed and struck down the egyptian now here's where it gets interesting in verse 25 it says for he supposed that his brethren would have understood that god would deliver them by his hand but they did not understand he supposed that they would understand he had this inner knowledge of what his life was supposed to be but you see the problem with moses and which was the problem with many of us is he outran god he ran ahead he was ahead of god and the brethren didn't understand because the messenger was there but there was no evidence of the presence of god we have no shortage of that in our world today we have no shortage of that in many church buildings where the messenger is there the messenger is speaking about the things of god the messenger is talking about deliverance and talking about callings and talking about what god is going to do but there is a strange absence of the presence of god and i don't know about you but i don't want to live there i don't want to be like that i don't want my life to be like that i'd rather die tomorrow and just go home to heaven i don't want to stand and be and be speaking about god and god is not there and talking about what god can do and god is not doing it in our midst now he has this inner knowledge of of what he is called to do but the problem at this point in moses life at 40 years of age is that he's mighty in words and deeds and somehow it must get into his heart the time has come now god didn't speak it he spoke it out of his own heart and he headed out at 40 years of age and he's got influence in pharaoh's court he's got an army behind him and he's probably strong and he's got muscles he's got all this stuff he's got a sword by his side he's called to bring a whole nation out of bondage and into freedom that's the calling on his life and he heads out just as a messenger of what he's called to do god is not with him yet because it's not the appointed time isn't it amazing and instead of bringing millions of people out of bondage he buries one egyptian in the sand and that's there was a victory of sorts but it was rather dismal compared to what he was called to do when we head out to do the work of god in our own strength there can actually be victories but they're very small in comparison to what the victories could be if we learn to wait upon god if we learn to let god be our strength and didn't head out in our own strength to do it see moses went out mighty in words and in deeds but paul said i stand before you not with excellence of speech or of wisdom look at the contrast at this point between the two men now moses is going to now be taken into a truth that's going to take him 40 years to learn it can take some of us a long long time to learn this truth to get to the place of moses to get to the place where god can actually use our lives in a greater measure than we could ever be used with any amount of natural zeal or natural wisdom or natural strength natural ability of influence and authority i mean and good can be done don't misunderstand me but the good that is accomplished could be so far beneath think of it the contrast one egyptian and he's called to deliver a nation there was a victory it was very very small he did succeed in defeating one oppressor but he was called to bring a whole nation into captivity and i i just wonder sometimes how many of us fall so far it's not that we don't get to heaven don't misunderstand me so there's no condemnation here our names are in the lamb's book of life but what a what a shame one day to get to the throne of god and find out what our life could have been you imagine you finally get there and then you see the video of what life could have been and you just but you were too strong the lord would say you were too wise you were too focused on yourself you had too much confidence in your own ability and you headed out to do something that you weren't you weren't ready to do now in exodus chapter 33 after 40 years now 40 years of being in the wilderness 40 years of of looking after sheep not just in the desert but the bible says in the backside of the desert i mean the desert is bad enough but the backside of the desert is as bad as it gets that's like as far into dry places as you can go and he's he's finally an old man he's got a stick in his hand and he and of course the scripture tells us he encounters god in a burning bush and it's at this point that the lord calls him to go out and do the work that he's called to do and moses is now at the point where he's lost all confidence in his own ability he's lost his ability in 40 years of just being out in the wilderness he lost his ability to speak he's not eloquent anymore he's not mighty in words or deeds anymore he's hurting sheep how mighty is that maybe he might have built a fence somewhere a corral or put some stones in a pile but he he wasn't building palaces and pyramids and these other things that they were prone to do back in the land that he came from it's at this point that god calls him and you and i know the story how he goes in not on strength but in weakness he no longer has an army all he has is as a brother who delivers a one-line sermon that he's too shy to deliver himself but he's a man who's walking under the authority of god and god's power is now walking through his life he brings all of these people out of captivity and into the wilderness heading towards a place of promise and as they're on that journey the people decide as he's gone up in the mountain to talk to god they decide to make a golden calf and the scripture says they send a great sin against god in what they did and the lord spoke to moses and he said i'm not going to go with you lest i consume i'll not go up in your midst in exodus 33 3 said i'm not going to go up in your midst lest i consume you on the way for your stick stiff neck people he said i'll send my angel before you in other words i'm not going with you but i'll send a messenger before you and there'll still be victory there but it was at this point moses says if your presence does not go with us do not bring us up from here in other words moses said what i'm saying today if you don't go with me i'm not going it's as simple as that we did this once before do you remember god 40 years ago i i went up with a message i i your presence wasn't with me but i had the word and it was the word but your presence wasn't with me and the people didn't recognize what you had destined my life to be because you weren't with me and we we did this 40 years ago and that mistake sent me into a wilderness for 40 years and i'm just not willing to go there again so if you don't go with us don't move us because i'm not going for how will it be known that your people and i have found grace in your sight except you go with us so we will be separate your people and i from all the people who are on the face of the earth moses is just saying look everybody's got ideas in this generation about god they've got ideas about they've got ideas about culture they've got ideas about country they've got ideas about marriage they've got ideas about right and wrong in and out of your house there's just so much speech there's there are so many people there's so many voices everywhere some are against you some are for you some say they're you're speaking through them and he says but the only thing that really makes a difference is if you go with us if you don't go with us we are just like the people around us we're we're going in our own strength we're going with our own wisdom we're going to our own destination even if we think you're leading us there and all we are is just another group of people with an argument in an ever degenerating society and moses said i'm just simply unwilling to go unless you go with me and i think that's the place we need to get to again in the church of jesus christ every last one of us would say god i'm not moving until you lead me as that one prayer request said tonight just help me to stand still and see the salvation of the lord again help me to stop trying to procure my own freedom listen a lot of you online tonight you you headed out before god that's why you failed you you felt you had a word from the lord and you told everybody god was with you and you went out you fell flat on your face just like moses because you you went out ahead of god yes god had a plan and a purpose for your life but you got you got you fell over the top of your skis man put it that way you went just a little too fast for god now you find yourself sitting on a couch tonight listening to this preacher preached this word and you've gotten to the place where moses was you're getting to that place where paul was you get you're actually coming to the place where god's power can now become your portion when you when you arrive at the place of saying god i am not going if you don't go with me i'm done trying as as our last prayer request said i'm i'm done trying to be better i'm done trying to change i'm done trying to to get free in my own strength i've had it god how will the people know i belong to you unless you go with me unless your presence is in my life and the lord said to moses exodus 33 17 i will also do this thing that you've spoken to this thing that you've asked me for for you have found grace in my sight and i know you by name god was saying to moses i'll go with you because you found grace you found the place of mercy you found the place of power you found the heart that you need so that the glory of god can be made manifest through your life i love you he said and i know you by name hallelujah hallelujah i want to tell everybody here tonight in the sanctuary and everybody listening online he knows your name and you have found grace in his sight it's not about your success and it's not about your failure it's about getting to the place of saying god if you'll go with me i'll go if i'm but i'm not going without you i'm done trying to do this thing i'm done trying to live the christian life by myself i'm done talking about the victories i'm done just being a messenger i'm done with going to church and coming home all excited because the preacher got all excited it lasts till monday and i fall right on my face again i'm fed up and finished with all of this stuff if you don't go with me i'm not getting off this couch and the lord looks at you tonight and says good i've been waiting for you to get to this place now you found grace in my sight now i'm going to go with you and your testimony is going to be all about the grace of god paul said i determined to know nothing among you but jesus christ and him crucified your message is not going to be about how you did anything your message is going to be about what god has done for you through his son jesus christ it's not going to be about human wisdom or human speech or human power it's going to be about the mercy and the power of god and your message will be one that can touch every heart and every soul in every place because you've been at the bottom you know what it feels like to be struggling but you also have learned what the power of god feels like in a surrendered vessel we have for too many years in this nation in america in particular we have spent all this time building ourselves up just to go out and fail and leave our nation in bankruptcy it's absolutely mind-boggling when in reality the power of god is found when we finally get to the end of ourselves i've said it so many times in the past and i'll say it again the end of ourselves is the beginning of god when when the womb is barren and only god can give life when we're four days dead in the tomb and only god can raise us when we're too weak and too young to find a giant and only god can give us the victory when we feel unlovely like yesterday and we we know that only god can give us the mercy that is needed now at the throne of the king when we're called at the time of our greatest weakness as was gideon and time and history just unveils it before us for those who want to see it is when we get to this place that moses was in this place that the apostle paul found when he said when i'm weak then i'm strong he wasn't just filling words on a page to write in scripture he understood something that we've lost in our generation of of constantly building up the natural man and sending us out to do the work of god to find our nation plunging ever deepeningly into darkness no it's now it's time for the drug addict it's time for the drunk it's time for the depressed it's time for the single mom it's time for those that feel hopeless it's time for you to rise up in the power and strength of your god and be a voice for god and be a testimony for god not just a message about god but god with you which is the hope of glory that's what paul said it's christ in you that is the hope of glory not bringing a message about christ but christ bringing his own message through you through a surrendered weak stammering vessel moses stood before the most powerful influential leader of his generation and it must have been so humorous i'm convinced the only reason farrell didn't kill moses and aaron right on the spot initially is because it was so humorous that this old man would come and challenge the greatest army on the face of the earth with nothing but a stammering tongue and a stick in his hand praise be to god he was so weak he couldn't even deliver a one-line sermon he had to have his brother deliver it but it was in that place of nothingness that god became everything that god's hand could move god's power could be made known see this is why moses said god i'm not willing to go with a message i'm done with going to church and trying to get excited by the preacher forget it i'm done with it i've i've done all that i've walked all that and some could say no i'm still sitting depressed in my living room i'm still drug addicted i'm still an alcoholic my marriage is still falling apart my kids are still rebelling against god i am finished with looking for somebody else a messenger to make me excited about the things of god and so if you're not going with me i'm not going and god says good i'm glad you finally got there i'm glad you finally found the place of strength you found the place where the glory of god now will be made known in your life and through your life none of us want to go there in the natural we're almost repulsed by the idea of becoming weak isn't the whole thing about becoming stronger of greater influence and authority and a lot of people strive for it in a lot of places build that natural man only to send the people out powerless and to watch their generation going into darkness no we got to get back to the place of moses we've got to get back to that place where we're not standing in our own strength we're standing in weakness and in fear and trembling and our speech and preaching are not with persuasive words of human wisdom doesn't that describe a lot of our preaching today but in demonstration of the spirit and of power every day now every day even when i'm exercising i find myself crying out oh god go with me oh holy spirit baptize me again in your strength my strength is failing but your strength is never ending my wisdom is limited but yours is infinite my speech can begin to stammer but your words have the power to create a universe so help me god to let you be god and take me to where you want me to go and give me what you want spoken when i get there in jesus name tonight for those that are listening online it all begins by just admitting that you need a savior you can't save yourself who are you trying to kid you know it now you can't get free on your own and many who are listening to my voice you have no assurance that heaven is going to be your home but i tell you tonight you can't have that assurance if you simply admit that you need a savior don't make it complicated i led my dad to the lord after 26 years of him resisting the truth of the gospel when he finally finally admitted he needed a savior you know there's a hymn we sing heaven came down and glory filled my soul it was amazing for an hour talking to a father i'd never known my whole life a father who was free with his emotions a father who could talk about forgiveness in heaven for one hour the most glorious hour i've ever had with my own dad that that last hour before he went into a coma before he eventually died where he gave his life to jesus christ as lord and savior just admit you need a savior you don't have to go another week you don't have to go another month of failure you don't have to live another day of depression just admit you can't save yourself and understand that god loves you remember he said to moses you've found grace in my sight and i know you by name god sent his son to die in your place and to pay the price for the wrong that you have done which the bible called sin which separates you from god so admit your condition and understand that jesus christ died because he loves you it's not because he felt obliged to do something for you he did it because he loves you and just start just with your mouth say jesus you are my lord don't make it difficult i give you my life i give you the rights to my future i give you my failure i give you my frustration i give you my addiction i i just put it all into your hands and and if anything good is going to come out of this mess called my life it's going to be you that does it and when you do that when you finally get to that place where you're not trusting in yourself anymore you watch what god will do in your life you just watch the peace that will come into your soul even tonight when you pray with me and the pathway that will start to open up before you don't outrun god remember that you wait you wait he will lead you i'm going to ask you to pray these simple words with me tonight in your heart lord jesus christ i can't save myself i can't even change myself and my life is far short of what it should be but i thank you for loving me in spite of my failure you came to get me and so tonight i i'm not going to resist you any longer i i give you my life my heart my future and i ask you to change me and use my life for your glory this day forward you are the lord of my life and as you did through moses or esther or paul use me lord to set people free from the power of hell and i thank you for it in jesus name amen [Music] we're going to go to the communion table now we're just going to celebrate the prayer that you prayed tonight and the victory that god's going to give to you in the future this is a good night this is a really really good saying this cup is the new covenant in my blood this do as often as you drink it in remembrance of me for as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the lord's death until he comes praise god thank you jesus thank you lord god we just thank you for people who have surrendered their lives to you tonight whether it's for the first time or whether they're just finding the doorway to victory god we just wanted to say thank you jesus for your mercy thank you lord for raising up an end time army god of of not the noble and powerful and strong but the weak and the afflicted and the addicted god the nothing's a nobody's a society but this is who you are and it's what you do lord and so god thank you for giving us an understanding that we don't have to be strong for you to be god in us and we give you the praise and the glory god for then the devil can't condemn us anymore and we thank you and we bless you in jesus name now if you prayed that prayer tonight with me please
