World's LARGEST Coconut CRAB {Catch Clean Cook} Asuncion Island, CNMI

yo what's where are you going you've been laying there taking a nap for an hour i started filming you get up what's up happy people i'm robert arrington this is my bro governor ralph torres of the marianas that's our mvp right there that's mr paul this is son james right here captain lawrence is at the wheel we've been on one of the most unbelievable expeditions ever got to say thanks to my crew austin behind the big cam jordan doing all my underwater and drone stuff this is mom very very few people have ever been here we've been here for the past two and a half days and it's been we're heading about 20 miles south to the island of al sinchon not to be confused with ascension island in the atlantic we're in austin in the pacific another incredibly remote island known for the largest coconut crabs in the entire world so big that they could break your wrist with just one claw but we're there we're gonna go try to catch one then we may do some fishing more importantly we're just gonna explore and find out what's there you are riding shotgun behind me is this huge volcanic island called a sinchon and if you see all those coconut trees that's where the largest coconut crabs in the world live the real name of a coconut crab is a robber crab they are extremely strong they have tremendous bite pressure in their claws and they're really good to eat let's go check them out see if we can't find one i can tell you right now this is not staged we don't know where any are we're just gonna go look for them as the sun goes down and it starts to get dark they come out of their holes and they're like aliens it's amazing looking up there and all the all the fruit bats those are called flying foxes [Music] look at all the crabs go look at all the crabs crawling on the rocks here dude look at all the crabs wow uh we call them a gospel in our language a golf yeah ago i don't know what they're called in english good enough look at him right there you can see up there there's the boats western sky this is all lava rock that we're walking on ah [Music] i have no idea what he's looking for right now but once we find one i'll tell you what we're looking for you can see where all that's been excavated and coconut crabs are down in them caves all coconut material that's where the coconut crabs have been eating what is this oh you got a bird inside oh my god what did that really that's a kingfisher are you kidding me that must have been a baby kingfisher that went down huh look at that he hasn't moved since we've seen him things so strong they're wicked strong yeah they're very pretty can you tell me if it's a male or a female it's going to show up okay so now that's a male you see the other side yeah that's a milk females have the string on the site yeah which carries the x look how beautiful the colors are it's amazing how he just talked down into that little cove there perfectly perfectly camouflaged that's a coconut crab hole you can see all the debris all the coconut husks that they've pulled up in there oh my god oh my lord the biggest coconut crab i've ever seen or ever even imagined seeing can we get let's go get closer to him come that right there that right there is the biggest coconut crab you will ever see in your life it is a big one a really big one oh my goodness wow what you think austin that thing is a freak we're filming each other what are we doing we are on the edge of a volcano hundreds of miles from civilization this is not planned choreographed or set up that is a wild coconut crab of epic proportion those giant hooks are what they use to literally rip coconuts apart now walk outside and grab a coconut and try to tear it apart you probably won't be able to but that crab does every day that right there is the biggest crab of any kind i've ever seen in my life that's one of the largest coconut crabs in the world we just caught it live on an island hundreds of miles from civilization hasta la vista baby wow what you see in there austin there's a crab in this hole that ladies and gentlemen is how you wrangle a coconut crab look at this look at this one yeah his claws are broken see that this old nubby right here oh nubby please be careful so have you ever been bit by one yes i have and it was small and did it it was painful really imagine getting bitten by this bigger even this guy here when he pinches it hurts the finger wow look listen you hear that it's another one there's one crawling right here come here hold on look right here look look crawling through the check that out dude this is insane look at that you know the story was that the largest coconut crabs in the world lived here on a sunshine and from the looks of it it's not a rumor it's the truth they have these long they have these long like whiskers that clearly they use for whatever reason i don't know but um a huge rainstorm is coming in right now and we're way up on the side of this volcano so we're going to try to head back down the mountain figure out somehow how to get back into the boat because the last thing i want to do is get injured on this island hundreds of miles from any kind of help i've never been anywhere like this on an island where there's no sign of human anywhere and there's a light shining in my eyes what do you think they climb up these trees for food food he's like a squirrel look at that oh man look how beautiful look how beautiful the little ones are they have like all that blue and just gorgeous colors in them this this coconut crab here is a female to determine if it's a female you see the side of her your belly you carry a some sort of string with a hair check that out that's where all the eggs get carried what an amazing creature all right off you go we've literally just found two crabs while trying to come down the mountain we just saw the female right there here's a medium-sized one right here i think they were trying to meet up with one another they're like hey meet you at the base of the rock as soon as it gets dark hey did you receive my text [Laughter] look at that this place is alive crawling with coconut crabs he's crawling up that tree like a lineman going up a telephone pole more power pole should i say i hope you got your osha certified safety equipment on jack because if you fall you're gonna land head first on a rock mama always told family so for that i say thank you very much and it is now time to cook coconut crab so this is how you cook a coconut crab we're gonna take a can cooker junior four cloves of garlic throw them in there we're gonna take one bottle of water big ol godzilla-sized massive and this is not the coconut crab you saw in the video it's just another really really big one [Music] take him slide him right inside there tuck him down see how he fits in there nice some salt this is sea salt kosher sea salt obey can i get a shout out from all my boys in the chesapeake bay area and uh shout out to my little brother blue gabe he just did a chesapeake bay blue crabbing video put that in there you want to make that meat sweet and easy to peel take some white distilled vinegar right in there about how about that much close it up there's a vent so it doesn't cook with pressure it cooks with convection it's going to create steam in the bottom it'll wrap around and all you need is a heat source coming over here [Music] just like that there we go turn the heat on once it starts to steam i'll reduce the heat to low let it cook for 15 minutes check this out i want to show you something really cool here see there in our onion corn our mushrooms and some garlic black pepper it's a chili garlic sauce taking about a tablespoon of about that much however much that is that's how much we're using all of our flavors are coming together real nice take all of our jasmine rice and throw it right in there and we're just gonna oh look how nice that's coming together perfect now we're going to do put all of our rice right there kill this okie dokie rice is done look at that raspberry right there [Music] when you come out they're going to be hot so have yourself up [Music] oh hello hello come on in look who it is how are you doing i'm man how are you come on in how's it going have you ever had coconut crab before well we are in the middle of making a very special dish [Music] don't get any bigger than that right i think this is one of the biggest i've ever seen to be honest really i'm serious you take the back of a of a butter knife or a spoon and just yeah you just tap it there you go a lot of people when they break these crabs they smash them now look at the size chunk right there and tomorrow it's called zuzu yeah um [Music] you like it all right you guys so now i just took out a lot of the meat out of the legs we're gonna use that as well but i'm gonna do something that i've seen them do here but i've never done this is like the specialty [Music] there's one particular piece that we have to get out of in here can't let that see this we can't let that get into our dish we're gonna come over here and this is where all the fl this is where all the fat lives this is where according to them where all the taste is looking good we're gonna pop this down get our fire going there you go we're gonna turn down the heat just a little bit then we're gonna take our rice the smell is really amazing and then we're just going to start turning that inside and basically we're doing this like fried rice [Music] i've seen them do it like that but that was like fried [Music] you know what this is the god's honest truth i cleaned all this crab meat because i wanted to put it in there and i forgot to but that being said i want to try it i am totally not into that i would have been eating the meat but i gotta try it that's all right man all the favorites and what is that it's almost like a very rich coconut oil flavor like [Music] wow hey come out here you guys check this out
