Woman's Dream Tiny House Even Has A Walk-In Wardrobe

often when people see a picture of a tiny house they think that it looks a lot like a big doll's house and here in victoria we have found a tiny house on wheels that might have taken that idea to the extreme albeit in a very functional and incredibly beautiful home [Music] hi dolly hi bryce lovely to meet you nice to meet you too what an absolutely beautiful home you have here thank you how did you actually come to be living in a tiny house oh it's a long story in 2013 i saw a tiny house truck somewhere in new zealand and i just fell in love with it and i and i thought oh i think i could live in that small space like this one so that's how i started being inspired and you're originally from the philippines aren't you yeah i grew up in the philippines and i migrated to new zealand in 2005 and i moved to australia in 2015. when i told my family that i'm gonna be building a tiny house on wheels they [Music] thought that was weird and my my brother actually laughed at me because it's unusual for filipino to be living in a small space because we have big families although my dad he was more supportive of me and he even asked me would you bring your tiny house here in the philippines when you retire and i thought that was funny and you have found a wonderful place to be parked this farm is absolutely gorgeous yeah i love it here how did you actually come to be parked here on the land so the owner of this farm they conduct tiny house building workshops and i attended one of those and after a year when i was already building my tiny house or i have a builder building my tiny house i contacted them again and they told me why don't you come here perfect yeah so this house is it connected to main services so you're plugged into water and power yes i'm connected to the main so to the electricity and there's a rain water tank over there and i'm connected and what size is this tiny house it's 7.2 meters long and 2.4 meters wide and from the ground it's 4.3 meters high very nice it's a really comfortable sized home isn't it yeah yeah yeah this is the the size that i really can live with because uh before deciding what size my tiny would be i tried other tiny houses on airbnb and tried other sizes and i know that the 7.2 meters long one is the one that's believable for me how long have you actually been living in your home now one year one yeah i moved in august and yeah started really leaving here in september well i would love to see the inside of your home and see what you've done okay come on in thank you wow this is actually like a giant doll's house isn't it yeah that's what they all say it's a giant doll house so some tiny house owners they named their tiny and so that started me thinking what am i gonna call my tiny house i can't call it some other names because this tiny house is an extension of me so i should call it dolly but give it a little twist so tiny miss dolly on wheels can you tell me a little bit about the inspiration behind all of this design well actually i originally wanted to have an arch roof and i wanted my kitchen in the middle and there's so much things that i wanted before but through the process it just changed so this is not my original design and the design of this tiny house just sort of evolved and just based on my gut my feelings if something makes me happy then i will incorporate that into this tiny house so when i designed it it's not i'm gonna decorate it that way or that i i originally wanted a bohemian rustic kite but then look at how different it is it's white and feminine and because that's me so it's not the idea of having this design that seems cool and nice but it evolved based on what is me based on my personality and this really does look like a kitchen that just wants to be cut down this is my happy place because i spent a lot of time in the kitchen so i just have to make sure that it's really what i wanted so what are your absolute favorite things to cook in here anything but lately i've been baking brownies nice yeah i think i want to just perfect baking brownies that is a worthwhile endeavor anything in the pursuit of deliciousness i'm a big fan of and can you tell me about the design of the kitchen and what we've got here this is an l-shaped counter and it's made from mountain ash hardwood and i have lots of covered spaces in here so yes so just so plenty this is what i love about it is there's so many storage spaces and i made the floating shelves myself because i want to showcase all the items here i don't want the cardboard that's closed and these plates i made them myself so i just want them there they are beautiful and it really is a nice way of doing it that everything that you don't want on display you've got plenty of room to roll away but you can create these really nice feature accents in the kitchen yeah and look at my egg house that is very cute and of course being on a farm here as well i'm sure you've got no short supply of those and they're free i really like the stair design here too yes and there's something you need to see a pull out drawer i love this that's beautiful lots and lots of storage built into these stairs then yeah and then this here is a dining table is it yeah it's uh this one is actually a coffee table which i bought from a secondhand store and i just took the the top because i like it i like the the wood and this is an ikea drop lift table which is handy when i have guests so we can eat together and then what about this space up here that looks really cozy so this is what's unique about my tiny i have a two level loft and one serves as a guest loft and it's a seat that converts into a lounge chair and also a bed if they need to sleep over so should we go up and take a look at it yeah let's do it quite a neat little ladder you've got here as well yeah so you're using the space as your office too yes i do so because i can stand here so if i want to be standing i just move this a table over here in here and you can just work on my computer it is so great that you're actually able to stand up in this loft yeah that's the benefit of being sure i can stand down there and i can stand up here definitely i'm sure that i am not going to be even close to being able to do the same i think it is just a little bit more awkward for me but this looks really really comfortable try it thank you and you have a wonderful view of the rest of the house from up here don't you yeah yeah so my friend would be sitting there and i would be cooking and yeah it's a nice view of me cooking so what do we have below us let's take a look all right no way is that a walk-in wardrobe yeah that is ridiculous a tiny house with a walk-in wardrobe there is no way that i could stand up in here but wow what a great idea this is one of those things that i never thought that i would see in a tiny house yeah a woman needs her walk-in wardrobe fair enough too and you've even got a washing machine i have a washer yeah it's a smaller um size washing machine because the regular size won't fit in the door so i had to choose a narrower size washer and you've got a great collection of all your clothes and makeup and everything you've even got a little vanity in here yeah yeah and i have a collection of earrings um living in a tiny house you have to be careful about buying clothes because there's not much space for it but earrings i can buy as much as i want because i still have a lot of space there then again this is still more space for clothing than i've ever seen in a tiny house before especially because you're the perfect height to be able to do something like this as well and what i love so much about that is that you can really see just how customized specifically to you this tiny house is yeah yeah and yeah that's why i customize it according to my needs so that's why i have a level loft ones for the walk-in wardrobe and one is for the guest loft and then what's next door to us here that's the bathroom should we check that out yes cool i'll see if i can get out here standing up again and then this is the bathroom yeah oh this is lovely beautiful basin as well yeah this is a salad bowl and this is an off cut for my kitchen sink and i just put them all together and made the floating sink by just using a metal bracket absolutely lovely and then you've got the composting toilet there yes and i made that myself so good job yeah it's just a bucket system so i have a bucket inside and i just made the box and just attach toilet seat in there and then a good size shower back there yeah it's a regular sized shower even here in the bathroom you've just got all these plants everywhere that's one thing that i really love about this house is just how many plants you've got everywhere yeah i just fell in love with with plants especially hanging ones i just like the one at the back so yeah they're beautiful and they really do just improve the air quality don't they yes is there a painting of your house yes so my friend has a friend who's an artist so i commissioned him to draw me my tiny house that is so cool and i love the way that it's depicted and the most quintessentially australian scene possible yeah that's his idea [Laughter] and then up here is your sleeping loft is it yes yeah can we take a look yeah go up first thank you wow now this looks like another room that is straight out of a doll's house yeah i love this pink inspired bedroom where does your love of pink come from because you see it everywhere in this home yeah i don't know i just love pink um yeah it could be a mid-life crisis [Laughter] well plus it's just one of those colors that does make you feel really happy right yeah yeah i think pink is a universal color and everyone needs pink in their life and there is something about this house that it does have that almost childlike quality in the most wonderful way because it feels like a little bit of escapism in here like a little fantasy and it feels like i don't know it's hard to say like a cake that's wonderfully decorated you know it's sweet and it's just gorgeous and just makes you feel good yeah i like i told you before this tiny house is an extension of myself so it's sweet and cute and childlike yeah so i designed it based on how i feel and it just came out like this one now that you've been living in the tiny house for a while how are you finding life in the space every day i wake up and it's like waking up and am i dreaming it's like living in a dream um i like it i wake up in the morning and i pinch myself am i still dreaming it's always like that like a honeymoon that never gets over yeah and i like that i'm in a farm i live in the city for three years and i just moved here in in this farm where all you can see is animals and nature and i love that it's so peaceful i don't like the city where it's too crowded and too noisy i get away from all that now i live here and it's heaven and what about the cost of this home so my builder has a model that i like and it's around 75 to 80k and i told him i only have 60k 60k is just my budget so can we work around that so i was able to get this tiny for 65k i always wanted to have a house before i wanted to have a house by the beach and then it changed i wanted a house on a hill and it changed i wanted a tiny house and so i love this tiny house because it's mine it has always been my dream to have a house and this is mine so now that i have this tiny house i can have this on a beach or up on a hill or anywhere i want it to and all my dreams have come true this house what i really love about it is just how packed full of your character it is walking into this home it's impossible not to feel
