That brave woman made that call and escaped in 2016. This is an incident that happened in 2010:

The worst came in June 2010, she said.

Hildreth told Bucyrus officers she’d been assaulted repeatedly by Grate, including multiple blows to the face and being grabbed by the throat. Part of her hand also was fractured when she said she’d raised it to defend herself. She was able to get Grate to let her go to the emergency room, and she initially told staff she had fallen.

When Grate left her alone in the room with a nurse, she was able to tell hospital staff what really had happened, according to a report. Police were notified, but Grate took off running and escaped arrest that day.

He was apprehended four days later, when Hildreth told police she believed Grate was hiding inside her couch and officers found him there. Grate was sentenced to 180 days in jail for first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence, but still called her from the jail in violation of a protection order.

Hildreth said he also sent her letters addressed to her cats. She left him after that June incident, and said she believes it saved her life.

“Before that night, I feared he would kill me,” she said. “That night only strengthened that fear. ... I now believe more than ever had I not left him I would be dead or one of my children would be.”

I feel like anytime I hear a 911 call, the dispatcher has a slight attitude.

Woman whispers for help in a chilling 911 call. A woman called 911 whispering her plea for help.

Ok but did a woman whisper for help to 911?

As soon as I heard the police shouting at the guy, my first thought was "they caught you mother fucker!".

I know I'm paying too close attention to the details, but this video becomes significantly creepier when you notice the dispatcher and caller traded bodies at 1:14.

If you're hiding from someone like this, can your text 911 instead of calling? I understand that calling allied them to get info for your location and such, but are 911 dispatch set up to receive "emergency texts"?

Always wonder how many times a dispatch gets called with someone pretending to order a pizza to get help.

I was just getting ready to go to bed. It's not happening now. I'm not sure if she was in shock, or just really had her wits about her, but she did phenomenally.

Minor nitpick, but the CNN people got the people reversed at 1:17 in their subtitles.
