every Sunday morning and from a very young age start singing in the choir when I was about 16 songs of praise came to my church and some producer said can I get that girl to come and sing on this dance track it just opened up a whole nother world of professional singing backing vocals all of that being a backing vocalist has been absolutely amazing I've been very very lucky I've worked with some amazing people but I feel like it's time for me to be meaner I live at home with my son his name's Carlos he's 18 he's lovely he's my bodyguard when I see one with stages inspiring this one was amazing killer Mito who didn't turn around forget one of them the reason for me to be here is I want to have the moment of being Michelle I'm fully free now and I feel like now is the time I want to make myself proud first my son my family you're so used to tune everything for everyone else which is great no I'm not complaining it's wonderful but then you kind of need a minute to sort of find - who you are I'm not singing the ease and ass that's easy I can do that now it's showing Who I am it's a big risk because you're showing us everything you're made of your voice grabbed me your boys came out and push the button I didn't push the button you pushed it you hijacked me which is great right so my question I have to ask you did you record a lot I'm saying um okay like where you been can't I can't not not turn she has all the ingredients you just it's just too much but which is great I mean I'd rather have a whole lot than a little bit and you got a whole lot I'm intrigued what made you wait until now to come for the shine I love my job I've worked with the best people but I just felt like and not in an ungrateful way but it's just my time I want to have a chance of singing my own song that's great welcome to The Voice I paired Michelle and Tim because a lot of folks and my team are nervous about Michelle's experience her vocal capabilities so Tim someone who could stand the heat the song you're gonna be singing is by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas nowhere to run I'm gonna try to outperform her but she's a massive powerhouse [Music] they're both awesome he's not the song you're gonna be singing is I can't make you love me by Bonnie Raitt I love that song [Music] my audition song was a big dramatic song and this song will show a whole other side of me obviously I'm a backing singer but it's a whole different ballgame singing by yourself am I good enough to be at the center stage can I really do this it's nerve-wracking so today was band rehearsal and I'm not very well at the moment got a really bad throat I wasn't even thing because all you gonna do is hurt your instrument I wouldn't mind just to hit one time with the bands she insisted on giving it a go but I'm just really concerned that she should probably rest I'm just not feeling myself not feeling ready not feeling prepared my confidence is like not not great in the moment so I'm just proud I'm gonna be all right [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I'm not used to being up here by myself and you guys just made me feel so welcome yeah just look you know just it's like acceptance that's what it feels like to me I was trying to keep my peace until you got done saying it's all I got to say it's glass okay the second singer through to the quarter-final is [Applause] how about you perform I'm everyone thereby Chaka Khan oh my god that's a big song it's a very powerful song and in our minds we know that Shahrukh Khan is like the ultimate but I think Michele is just as dominant it's a high key right in the top of my register though I was just having a little bit of a scaredy-cat moment thinking should I take the safe option and just bring it down a little bit anything but at this stage you can't take the easy option it's a real party song so I'm just gonna like go for it hold on one second just too much going on in your head we were doing piano hustle you were singing the emotion now you're trying too too damn much he was why I was thinking about movement and overthinking it as long as I just relax smashed [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Michels performance was stellar like all the other singers of the show sing great and then there's Michelle and the other singers know that I know that people were gonna pick Michelle thankfully the viewers believed in me enough to get on the fans I feel so grateful I definitely would not be where I am today without my family they've been there every step of the way this whole time before I got on the voice when I was bracketing in four years and they've helped me to raise my son and I felt guilty for a long time about that I am super super super proud and pleased for my mom just seeing her on the stage is just an inspiration she just makes me happy I just want to make her happy and support all the way to the end to hear him saying all these lovely things it means that he understood that I'm working towards something and it means everything's heavy support of course so we're gonna go with get here by Oleta Adams I've never sung that song before I would have said it's not something that suits my voice you know at this point I totally trust will I know that he's gonna work with me we're gonna work with the bands just to make it my own now it's just for me to do my homework and really bring it on the night and make it happen I've got my game face on now I want to get into that fine [Applause] [Music] you can reach you can reach me with you you know he should play for my mom and and the message you just told your son is the same thing my mom used to tell me so my mom and my uncle were like he passed away but he would be really happy you're with your rendition of the song [Applause] it's the finals what song would you like to sing I'm so scared just like making the wrong choice is there something in your heart that you want to sing I'd love to sing Purple Rain because I just really loved that song oh man it's an epic song and I just hope that I'm able to really capture the song it's either gonna get me through get me that contract or it's gonna send me home she sings with this emotion of I've been waiting this my whole entire career I think he's just you know it just hit me was coming home today and the people that love her the people that support her and push her all here we in for her what an emotional moment this whole world could have fill up the love I have for my mom mom means the world to me [Music] my family believed in me so much as far as they're concerned I'm a winner I want to prove them right as well I want to be a winner I never meant to cause you any sorrow [Music] I never meant to cause you
