being away from my mom is really hard but i moved to england to pursue my music career so i could give her a better [Music] and life together [Applause] [Music] for you i'll be there to feel good [Music] everybody [Music] is [Music] everybody dreams [Music] [Applause] uh [Applause] okay what's your name giovanni where are you from jamaica i'm giovanni i'm 17 and i'm student i grew up in jamaica until the age of 15 until i decided to come to london to live with my dad we share a house with another family the thing with england is that it has more opportunities there's always something going on and there's always someone to sing to the thing i miss most about jamaica is the weather it's kind of cool you know the food and most of all i miss my mom she's a very generous person and she sacrificed a lot for us and that's that's why i think i really love her that much being away from my mom is really hard but i moved to england to pursue my music career so i could give her a better life whatever you do i'd be very proud of you yeah so just go out there and give it your best give it your all well i really want to make you guys proud i love you man love you i have a close relationship with my dad because we play football together playing basketball i think it's it's really like my best friend because we're always doing things together and he's always there and i cherish that support germany performed i get very emotional he's doing what he loves yeah that that that's alone for me is everything i used to watch the voice uk um in jamaica online and to be here now actually doing what what i was dreaming about it's really mind-blowing this is such a big opportunity for me and my family because it can change your lives forever and i'm not going to let it go how long have you been singing as far as i can remember from about five years old like church well your dad came out like i i kind of teared up you know because some people don't have dads and my my mom is my dad and my big brother's my dad honestly so that was a beautiful thing there how old are you there's something about the way you sung that song i felt the emotion and one i like what you did to the song because that's not how the song is i like the twist you put on it you're really awesome bro um just tell us how much this means to you this is an experience that i've always wanted to have so i could be seen by the world basically because i really i really want to yeah i really i really want to help my parents i really want to take them out i want them i want to give them the best life i was 16 years old and um we living in the projects and i remember looking at my mom and saying mom i'm gonna buy you a house one day and she says boy don't you make promises you can't keep i was like no mom you'll see and it's crazy that a 16 year old is saying that to your parents because i remember asking my mom mom you have any money for school boy ain't got no money the idea that my mom didn't have a quarter 50 cents to give me to go to school she goes to show you like i felt you when you said you want to take care of your parents and you have a gift and you can it's going to take focus dedication bro not many kids are dreaming to do that you're gonna do it you will the last pairing is giovanni and he'll be singing against shauna [Applause] everybody i turned for giovanni because i was looking for dynamic charismatic emotional melodic hero i just remembered um will turning and i just went crazy it was a really good feeling i felt like i had been given the chance to pursue my dreams my mom is back in jamaica but luckily i have my dad with me in the uk he gives me all the support that i need i really want to i really want to help my parents i want to give them the best life it just reminded me of like me when i was younger the blind audition was crazy this is like the biggest thing i've done i i felt like my chest and it was just like beating really fast shawna is one of those singers she's she could be perfect [Music] when will turned around i was i was just so happy i like your voice so much that i want to work with you right thank you imagine all the people the song that they're singing is imagined by john lennon i just love singing the song and really get across the message it's great singing with giovanni as well you may say i'm a dreamer out of all the singing battles this year for my team you guys are bringing the most emotion i had to hold back some tears right now when you guys were singing it's gonna be a hard decision for me because you guys sound so awesome on it after seeing their piano rehearsal and then now seeing the rehearsal rehearsal it's going to be a tough one i'm kicking myself because i shouldn't have paired you guys together tonight i'm definitely fighting to keep a place in world's team i think this performance will be the most important performances of my life [Applause] [Music] [Music] us [Music] i wonder if you can no need [Music] [Applause] imagine [Applause] but i'm not the only one [Music] will join us [Music] hope you guys are amazing singers um the person i'm going to send through to the knockouts is giovanni lovely to meet you lovely to meet you too giovanni literally has my whole heart thanking you for putting me through to the next round of course of course there's just something really vulnerable about it and every time i see him i just want to give him a cuddle i saw your blind audition and you made me cry i just thought it was beautiful well thank you everybody i think giovanni is just a special little guy he's fighting for a better life for his family you feel that i want to give them the best life where are you from jamaica i live in london my dad and my brother the thing i miss most about jamaica it's my mom she's seen the audition and you know she was excited made a lot of noise and the screaming and she told me that you know i'm doing good [Music] god knows what is hiding in those weak and drunken hearts the song that i will be singing is people help the people by birdie and sherry ghost because i can really connect with it if you're home sick give me is really hard the songs helped me through tough times [Music] i love when you really push your voice because you've got a natural break that's so lovely that's nice to hear from you so i think i'll start using it now don't think there's a lot of singers that can make you feel every single word that they sing in he could sing barbara black sheep and he'd make me cry sometimes when i go on the stage i feel a little bit of nerves yeah so how do you manage that that's just because you care enough nervous is like okay i'm gonna lose control what if all these things go wrong change the definition to care i could hear that you're singing for something it sounds beautiful i think knowing that i need to prove myself i'm one step closer to the goal which is to take care of my family so i just wanted to do my best and make them proud god knows what it is [Music] oh and if i had a brain i'd be cold as a stone and rich as a fool that turned all those good hearts away [Music] [Applause] oh [Music] [Music] if [Music] [Applause] um you're 17 years old you know that you have a gift and you know what that gift is going to do for your family yeah and to have such a clear true north on where it is you're going and what it is you want to do and who you want to do it for that is that is rare and i'm really proud of you thank you when you are performing up here is it your family that's your focus throughout the entire performance yes my family is my main focus but this song was really for the people that are faced with adversity and difficulties and are not so unfortunate to do to do certain things are defined in hard times in life this is why i try to bring out so much emotion in this song and you do it incredibly well well can you give me the name of the act that you want to take through to the semi-final singer that i'm putting through is giovanni [Music] the song of children for the semi-finals is many reverse the cross by jimmy cliff you just got to continue to connect with the audience emotionally i really want to make my family proud and impress well um i see it in your facial expressions when you hit a run and you you don't land it right that wobbles the rest of your performance try to relax yourself a bit so will could see when i was overthinking and i need to make sure that does happen in my performance this is one chance away from the final it's going to be tough [Music] but i can't seem to find my way over [Music] as i travel along the white lives and this loneliness won't leave [Music] well i guess i have to cry [Music] [Applause] [Music] focused on [Music] yes [Applause] [Music] [Applause] what what do you do there's all sorts of feels going on for you yeah but i do need the name of the act that you're taking through to the final okay i have to follow my heart and that's giovanni to be in the final of the voice feels amazing when giovanni sings you hear that purpose and it's beautiful i have to follow my heart and that's giovanni i was dreaming of this opportunity before and no i'm living the dream it's been a really busy week but it was fantastic to catch up with my family i remember the first time you let the children square you could hear it from that age he had a very good time it was something that i felt good at so i always enjoyed it i'm a family person so to have them around me always brings joy to my soul i'm always going to be doing this for you guys because i want to make a better life for for the family not every 18 year old behaves the way he does japan is just a special person you being in the final is overwhelming i'm so much proud of you words can't explain how far i am of you my mother is my rock the hardest times of my life she was always there by my side and still is to this day i wish you all the best on the
