okay that 350 is driving nice put a couple hundred kilometers on it now so there's a couple things I need to finish up yet though mainly today's episode we're gonna focus on the box and we're gonna make some custom parts that's gonna set this truck apart even more than it already is so let's get into it here we go [Music] [Music] okay so now we've got transmission but we can't move the truck from here we're gonna replace all of them running moving track we got Ash cut to laser cut caterpillar letters out of aluminum I'm going to pull the Box off I'm going to undercoat it the same way that we did on the front okay okay so to finish off the tailgate we've got a new panel from built not bot Industries and while the stock panel has three plastic clips that go through large holes in the tin it gets bolted through the back the new panel does not so I had to figure out how to attach this panel securely to the tailgate and oshka came to mind so we got Ash cut to laser cut caterpillar letters out of aluminum unfortunately I asked him to make them out of three-quarter inch aluminum which was actually way too thick so how to shop in town cut them in half again now we have a set of two so I started by powder coating them with the cheap Amazon powder coating system and having never done it before it was actually really easy basically I borrowed Kevin's little toaster oven and set them up on the grill so that I could just slide them in once I powder coated it the tin allows you to ground the strap to it and you magnetize basically your polarized the powder and it sticks nicely to the letters baking them is super easy and then drilled and tap them to secure them to the tailgate and to the panel now anybody wanting to come across has no chance of stealing them [Music] the batch looks good [Music] [Music] that's a very nice I like that that turned out good let that cool okay so these are the holes for the letters while my letters are drying in the toaster oven I wipe this down on the bottom I'm going to put a little bit of adhesive on the bottom and then put a piece of wood up against it and hold it tight so that will because the letters are holding the top half on I just need something to keep the bottom from just vibrating so basically just a cushion in between there see how that works out here we go thank you [Music] okay so I can cook but I've never actually baked before but I think for my first batch of baking that's not bad I like that I think the key there is a little bit rougher than the rest I don't know why I could maybe do that again but uh oh I like that nice new hobby powder coating all right we'll pull these off and start popping them on the tailgate here we go since I didn't like how the PT and E turned out I just sanded the top off on the Belt Sander and hit them again so easy stick them in the oven while I put the double-sided tape on the back of them and then we're just about ready to bolt these denim [Music] thank you okay so about a year ago I said we're not gonna do the little things until the proof of concept is done now in the last video you saw that uh we're driving it and that it is a really nice driving truck um I got lots of little stuff to do yet but I wouldn't hesitate to actually drive this anywhere I've got 200 kilometers on it now and uh man I love this thing I think we're probably gonna end up painting it because it is such a nice track we'll redo the trim on the outside I don't think we're gonna do anything crazy stance wise or or anything uh um whatever we might do the reverse shackle kit on the front that will level out the front all the hard starts are fixed because it was just air in the system thing fires right up now so we are good to go very ecstatic with that tailgate okay so first things first uh we button everything up inside the cab for uh Motorama and then we had some shifting issues so I need to clean up that wiring yet but I'm going to pull the Box off first then we're going to finish that off I'm going to undercoat it the same way that we did on the front and while while the box is off we're going to finish off the wiring put the uh trailer plugs in for the fifth wheel even though we don't have a fifth wheel I imagine at some point we probably will it's because James won't sell me his fifth wheel from uh vnr even though it's just in a trailer for over a year James just sell it to me also going to do the tailgate and a couple other small things and then we'll start towing with it we have to go to Pennsylvania this weekend so we got a six hour trip and I got about a day and a half to put this together here we go [Music] thank you there was a little stint of our fake spring and that's when we did our test driving on the transmission but then winter came back again a real winter so it was all snow in that again um so I turned the heat off in the shop back then so I couldn't undercoat it when I turned the heat off it's got to be nice and warm now we're gonna wait and let this all drip off nice and dry we'll blow dry it clean and I will undercoat up into here but I won't do the wheel wells the wheel wells the stone chips get in there too much and uh get in behind there don't want that to rot but yeah nice southern box absolutely nothing wrong with this thing so if we'll dry that off and we'll get to work on the truck itself here we go this event sanded everything down nicely um just got all the little loose stuff off yet and just scuffed up the paint that's already on here just so that the new stuff would stick on so we're about ready we'll uh we'll put it in a non-windy spot and uh splash some undercoating on it I'm using rust-oleums resistant like corrosion oh wait corrosion resistant doesn't sound rubberized paintable undercoating I use it on the rest of the truck and really liked it so [Music] okay unfortunately the trailer plug from Factory wasn't long enough to reach the back because we've got a giant ass truck so we'll put this one in for the fifth wheel plug and then I've already teed into it when I was doing the wiring into this nice heavy shielded cable and I already ran that to the back so so when the Princess Auto grabbed a trailer plug and air fittings um so put the trailer plug nicely right here that's where they are all on all the trucks so my plug Works nice for the trailer and then I've got the airline back here too this was just to verify the pressure from the sensor but I'll disconnect that and we'll make a nice holder and everything for this we're going to put um air parking brake on our race trailer so you can't steal the trailer unless you have the truck to match and then when we go to hotels we can take the cords from here into the uh hotel with us then at least it'll slow them down if nothing else uh but they won't be able to remove tires or pull the trailer away without that air cord so um yeah let's make a bracket and get these parts on there here we go [Music] thank you okay so that's what it looks like uh that's it all connected at the back there I'm going to fill that with grease pop the cover on and it's actually really nice cover verify that all of them match with this one same terminals right up at the same time so shut up trailer plug lights back here and uh and air nice here we go okay so grab the feather neck out of a out of the wrecking yard but um this one's pretty rotten and rough so I think we're going to use the old one it's just that the filler neck is too small so I'm just gonna take a hole saw and cut that out because I think the taper on the inside is exactly the same for this hose and even those hose is in great shape you got to cut all the welds off and then I'm going to try it first anyway it's not difficult to get at this one and uh unhook it if I need to afterwards so I gotta find the right hose because diesel likes to eat rubber and plastic we don't find the right one so we'll make do until we'll see if it works if it doesn't fix it there we go there's a hack for you put your drill in the Vise and then push down on two or whatever you don't want the file links to fall into and gravity will pull all the filings nicely out for you genius sometimes my genius is just just crazy I might be a Clarkson I don't know I honestly believe that sometimes my genius it generates gravity maybe I should do one of those DNA tests before related [Music] okay I made it up to here with the loom and then ran out of my big stuff so I need to order some more room and I don't have the proper Tech clamps to bolt it down so everything's zip tied he's gonna pull the Box off one more time but it's okay it's protected it's not gonna go anywhere um good old zip ties to the rescue in the meantime the box is all nice and dry and uh take a look at this doesn't that just look beautiful underneath there it's brand new so that should be protected for a while so we can drop the box back on it again bolt it down for the second last time here we go [Music] there's the box back on really bolt it down nice and tight and it's not so bad because uh even though I have to take it off again James is watching this video and he's like okay I wasn't gonna sell them the fifth wheel hitch but I know he's got to take the box off again it's the right thing to do I'm gonna call them and tell them to come pick up that fifth wheel hitch but anyway a few more things to button up and uh we're ready for the road trip here we go okay so I got the trailer and I think it's a 28 footer I can't remember it's big so we'll see how uh we do we're just gonna drive it a little bit with the trailer on and then we're gonna head to Josh's and get the new tune in there because it's 190 horse we're gonna go for the 330 tune so here we go I think that guy wants our trailer video okay so initial thoughts are I really want that 330 horse tune because it's doable but it's not like a comfortable drive it's not that it's really like lugging it's just and it's lugging a little bit once we hit uh yeah 55 mile an hour and uh we'll get the last gear it takes a little bit so um yeah we're gonna stop off of BNR we're gonna drop the trailer off there um because we're actually leaving for Pennsylvania tomorrow it's ridiculously long though we'll have to pick and choose where we go for parking so so yeah but a cruise is really nice it uh nice and straight and steady I got the brake controller working unfortunately I just had the temporarily put in a manual one because I think we need to program the uh the built-in one and I think we might need the can bus from the dash to make it work properly so anyway we'll worry about that later we got we got working trailer brakes we got one light out so we're grabbing that in the morning they're ordered that and uh we should be good to go here we go it's slow winding up pressing operation it's a nice drive empty but then yeah with the trailer the trailer was empty but I think it's a 28 footer right so she was that leaves a lot to be desired but I'm glad I drove it now you get to appreciate the the 330. exactly I I'm glad we didn't go straight to there that's uh yeah yeah so no issues this time no we're connected up just trying to find where I buried the file on my laptop get it LinkedIn and uh we'll be happy thanks okay so we had a little issue with our tune and that's because the 330 tune requires a atmospheric pressure sensor so that is not wired into my harness from the school bus so um I'm gonna tie into my boost pressure sensor for my 5 volt and my ground and then I need a new sensor wire for um this atmospheric now this goes into the oil pan but you can just lay this around anyway what's happening is it can't tell the difference between atmospheric and and the boost pressure so then the um it won't tell it to add more fuel so basically I'm running with like 15 throttle which is worse than it was like I have less power now with the tune than I did with 192. so we'll throw the sensor in it will be like a whole new track hopefully here we go we got the atmospheric pressure sensor plugged in only one thing left to do go for a little test drive I've been I think we got her there we go okay so I was recording the troubleshooting that boost leak but unfortunately I uh it was leaking out of here but I switched the setting on my camera and lost the audio but there's two rings that hold this boot on and right underneath the ring it just wore and it wasn't leak at five pounds of boost or less but after 10 the noises got louder and louder and that's where it is so I replaced the boot already I'm gonna order a new one of these it's good to have some spares in the truck anyway because when you got no boost you got no power for going uphills we've got big problems so I've got my coupler just my abs piece into my intake and that charges the whole system but you can only do that very temporarily because it does spin the turbo so put your air on it put regulated boost into it for whatever your max boost is gonna be if it's 30 pounds but 30 pounds we can start with five ten work your way up generally if you got the leak stopped at 10. um the leaks aren't there that's when the boots start popping off after 25 30 pounds so um started every time you do it just to get some oil back in the turbo again but you can pressurize that check for leaks and then you should be good to go I'm gonna fire the truck up we'll air that up check for leaks one more time and we take down the road again thank you oh and I put this on the lathe and I just shaved the hair off so I got a bit of a lip there because without that your boots will pop off [Music] is this thing just blowing up but I didn't hear any leaks so we should be good I'm having one issue where sometimes it limits me to 9 to 60 mile an hour to yeah 60 miles an hour and that's fine pulling a trail there but empty I'd like to go a little bit faster but then sometimes it'll go to 75 no problem I don't know what that is some sort of safety I gotta talk to Josh again and see if he can turn that off or if he knows what's going on [Music] more wine that's terrible whistle and that shift so I gotta get that figured out because there's a little spot between two gears oh some nice and quiet but it's limiting me to 95 kilometers an hour I want to go faster quiet that is that is so nice that that'd be quiet man I got nothing but good stuff to say about it because it is a super quiet truck for an old OBS with Bradley doors and old window seals and that I can't believe how how quiet it is an hour cruising right along we'll throw the trailer on there we'll see how she acts then very nice okay so this is our 28 foot car hauler we bought this a while ago but I've only ever used it to help people move but I'm glad that we finally have the race car in there and this is what this whole setup was meant to do reliable truck that pulls our nice trailer DNR borrowed it put a nice hole in it I'm gonna figure that out yet but it's got nice cabinets in the front uh one door is broken so we're gonna replace this with a toolbox and Slide the cabinet over so I can lean in the door grab whatever tool while I'm working on it it's got really nice lights vinyl floor all covered on the inside but we'll have a whole other series on this trailer coming up when we paint the bottom protect it we just put new tires I got all the lights working did a little bit of work to the ramps but uh let's see how she pulls with our typical load in it here we go [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] the shifts have to come a little quicker there's a little spot there but I've got 70 there oh that's always nice oh that toe is so nice not bad ride at all actually like comfortable lies it's got to figure out this limiting to 60 mile an hour not that I want to do that with the trailer but you gotta empty I'd like to go a little faster temperatures are staying super cool fans aren't hooked up yet I'll get to it but as soon as the thermostat opens at 190 she hangs out at 193 194. transmission temperature about 140 and I don't think that fan has come on yet either I think that's about the same temperature but 180 190 that fan kicks on I was worried about that transmission cooler not getting enough air back there but it seems to be just fine I love this truck which is why I had to build the Silverado and the compound turbo P pump Cummins because I figured if I didn't I would never drive that truck again oh what a nice view [Music] oh just pulling right away such a happy truck building a truck with a bigger engine than you actually need and not making it work so much better than the smaller engine for fuel savings and making it lugged all the time she's just super happy all you hear is a turbo whistle 4pms that wine and the Hydra boost but somebody said that could be my filter making noise throughout that filter so I might disconnect that filter again and see if the noise goes away and that's a way to eliminate that I see the trailer needs a little bit of work because my door is coming apart I can't lose that piece all right I'll make a new one seems like he's still there on the way home okay now that we've lugged it with the higher tune we've got 650 kilometers on it now we go back to the shop drop the oil and we're ready for some uh T6 synthetic I think all the break-in has been done we'll check that oil um and then uh we are good to go nice just a quick stop at tombsley here see if he's got some parts that we need and then we'll head back home again okay if you guys have been following along the series you know that we've got T4 into this engine that was a initial break-in oil we don't want to run synthetic in brand new engines because we want the parts to seat into each other synthetic oil is that much slipperier that it doesn't really grab and mate each other nothing on the magnet so we put T4 in this initially and we want to make that engine work as hard as possible went through all the gears and tried to put as much of a load as we could on this engine and I can't do it without taking anything apart so I drop the filter down have to lean it to the front and then push it up the back and then go up very simple well I was back uh working in the tractor dealership the first thing we would do after rebuild was put the tractor on a Dyno which ran off PTO and we were running for 15 minutes full load as the dyno went on from one minute to 15 minutes you could actually see the horsepower increase on the output of that engine and generally gained about 10 percent over those 15 minutes so now that we've done that we've got about 850 kilometers on it which is about 600 miles all that break-in stuff is happening all the metallic pieces aluminum and everything is seated into each other nothing crazy but you will have a lot more metal in the oil on your first oil change you want to do that relatively quickly after that oil change we're gonna put in our T6 running a really good synthetic oil is really crucial on engines with the Huey system because it does use the engine oil to fire the injectors so not only does the engine an oil have to lubricate the engine and maintain temperatures it also has to fire the injectors at a incredibly high pressure built by the Huey pump now I finally have brand new engines where we can run the good stuff the T6 in there so this kitty cat is going to get T6 the rest of its life okay so a couple other things we're going to do with the truck um that annoying noise and the booster somebody said they put this aftermarket filter on the frame and it was making the same noise so I do have a coupler I'm going to take the filter right out on the next test drive and see if the noise goes away if it goes away it's the filter if not it's probably the Hydro Boost um and another squeak something was hitting the windshield so I just took the um valance off because I think it's actually coming from outside so um if the noise goes away then it's on the outside if it goes if it's still there it's something on the inside pretty simple diagnosing I also have a catch can to actually go from my vent I didn't like the factory plastic big tall one from cat so I'm going to put this nice one in from poly Big Boy size for caterpillars but we'll Mount that securely and then it's got a nice drain on it fill us up a little bracket that'll bolt right onto the power steering Reservoir just on the side and it'll tuck nicely right behind the intake it's almost like I designed this intake just to fit this canister because again it is a big boy canister she's uh she's got some girth to her okay so I got my filter bypassed I got my hose ends capped on the filter so they don't get dirty I got my breather mounted and um I guess we'll see if it makes any noise probably won't start as good because um forgot air my hose system again now but we'll take it for a quick little Drive I'm not even out the drive but yet I can hear it that rattle is gone though so that's something see what happens when we speed up [Music] okay so I still hear the whining noise so it's definitely a Hydro Boost um but the rattle on the windshield is gone so that was definitely the balance so we can turn around and fix that okay so since the filter is not making the noise the Hydro Boost is I went online and some guys said that the seafoam trance tune might actually do the tricks but Canadian Tire and grabbed a bit of this we'll siphon some of the power steering fluid out and top it up and just drive around with it it says that it's good for transmissions and power steering fluid systems so um who knows regardless uh we have a red top steering box for it um and we're going to throw that in we'll probably do that same time we do the uh reverse shackle kit because I watched when the steering goes the shackles on the truck actually move as well the front shackles they they move back and forth so it should tighten the steering up with the reverse shackle kit because the front has a bar between the two of them that'll actually protect a radiator really good down below there as well so it's a good investment it's on its way and that will be the next video and you know the projects are pretty well nearing the end when the front drive shafts going in now we did have this one in already we sent it out again to get the slip yoke and the drive shaft itself this goes in our transfer case and even though it does slide because our axle goes up and down quite a bit actually um you guys said don't do that because you're going to tear your transfer case apart so uh what we're going to do is drill and tap the Yoke where it slides over top put a set screw in there don't need anything excessive just need to hold this in place because this goes back and forth fine and then um that will go up and down with our axle because this was out of a GM and it's got the independent front suspension the front ring and pinion doesn't move it's bolted in place so it does work on a GM with our solid axle we need to have this extra slip joint so here we go foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] I need the if anybody's got it I need the piece the bracket that bolts the side of the Allison and hooks up to the uh shift linkage on the um on the transfer case because now we do get stuck I can I can crawl under the truck and stick it in gear but when we bought the transfer case I didn't get the shifter linkage with it so it's never quite fun okay [Music] okay so uh we've got a pile of stuff done a few little things to do and we'll keep making videos on the truck but I'm happy to say that with almost a thousand kilometers on it the truck is finished um it's driving perfectly it's doing exactly what uh we needed to do it pulls that Audi just awesome and even though I can pick away at all the stuff we're probably gonna focus on the Audi and other projects just for the summer because summer time and I want to drive it we will not be driving this in the winter so it's a good time to get the stereo right now one of the speakers is out all these little things and the more I look at it the more I want to paint it um so we'll we'll run into that later we'll decide how the finances and stuff are but um to see the whole truck coming together exactly the way that I hoped it would that dream we had three years ago really really cool so thank you guys for sticking around I know that this is a favorite of uh a lot of your guyses and the there will be a pile of content on it still but more driving and tuning and uh alignment things like that but for the sake of the build this is basically the build now I did a lot of extra stuff that you might that that puts this build in a different League welding in the fire uh wall things like that but you don't have to do that I did show you guys that in an OBS you can make the cat fit with the sledgehammer just push that firewall back a little bit you don't have to rebuild the transmission you don't have to rebuild the engine you don't have to get new injectors and Huey and all that you don't have to weld the firewall in and on a lot more of a modest budget you guys can do this cat swap as well the wiring is super easy Once you understand the can bus with the automatic um and and all the sensors and stuff that's involved with that it's not not a big deal or just throw a manual behind it have some fun rolling gears and and whatever it is but uh I really so far happy with this cat engine it's been a lot of fun Jose thank you very much for uh selling us this truck and trusting us with this truck um and we hopefully will be able to tow the Audi back out to California at some point go for a nice cruise and let him drive it but um it's the end but it's not the end so um I just wanted to put that out there that um I really appreciate all of you guys uh helping out by watching and buying the after Kitty shirts and the merch and stuff like that and to everybody that helped involved with this build especially Scott rebuilding the engine Excalibur transmission those two huge things that now we can safely drive this thing across the country so as always get out there and work on it guys the feeling the Goosebumps that you get driving it and smiles puts on your faces unlike any other thing out there um so I really want to encourage you guys to work on your stuff get out there get filthy because if you're not filthy you're not rich there we go this is very disoriented thank you
