Why The Legend of Korra is a Steaming Pile of Garbage (Part 1)

avatar the last airbender by both me and many other avatar fans is considered to be one of the best animated TV series of all time the amount of attention to the characters in the amount of detail that they put into this kids show it's just absolutely phenomenal I can easily make an entire video on why avatar last airbender is just a really good series but there's plenty of videos out there that already do that for me you saw the title you saw the thumbnail today I'm gonna be breaking down and analyzing avatars not so appreciate sequel The Legend of Korra stay tuned for today's video [Music] so The Legend of Korra takes place after Aang is dead and the order of the white Lewis was tasked with finding the new avatar also known as Korra episode 1 we are about to be introduced to the new avatar the person that we are gonna watch enroute for new avatar has some big shoes to fill but this is something new something fresh this is the new avatar this is the avatar are you freaking kidding me no no no no no no no ok maybe I'm being a little harsh on her she's a 6 year old hothead so what it's not like she won't learn to be disciplined when she has to are in the four elements oh well slap my butters take a bosom Bologna on it because none of this makes any sense you're telling me that she just one day was screwing around and just happened to been earth fire and water and you want to remember how long it took Katara to learn waterbending she was able to swish water around like she owned it from the get-go it took training under a master for her to learn it properly and that's not even mentioning the few years that she had have experienced beforehand I understand the writers of the show wanted to make something new other than just another avatar going on the Avatar journey but then why they just continue the actual avatar series the story that fans would actually want to watch they could have expanded on things like Zuko's mother and actually mastering the four elements Sokka and toss life after the war azula's mental state and future villains but instead of doing that what they decided to do is make this yes and in a matter of two minutes they took bending the major art form in the after universe and turned it into an entitled child's plaything if this is a bad omen of what's to come then I don't know what is anyway we felt like a decade into the future and core is taking a firebending test the fight is cool don't get me wrong it's really not important so we're just gonna skip over it one of the order of the White Lotus members tells Cora that she really sucks spiritual training because she completely ignored it what exactly stopping core from biessing her way into the spirit world anyway I mean she's done that with everything else so far anyway core head's through another part of the South Pole to be trained in airbending by Tenzin and is that sky-bison wasn't that boy sky-bison left Appa oh well I guess they're deciding the whole time so one of sentence children's actually asked Katara about Zuko's mother and she looked like she had something to say but then this all craps thing comes along to interrupt her and call her old you stupid piece of crap so Tenzin can't train Korra and airbending because he has a life and Korra hates the fact that he has a life he basically acts like he doesn't have one I don't understand why are you making me wait and he flew across the world to stay one night just to tell Korra this what but Korra can't go to the city with Tenzin because the city's far too dangerous for an avatar he could Bend three out of the four elements with ease [Music] the court decides to file tents in anyways because she literally has zero patience anyway well the city court has to get food for her pleura bear-dog but it turns out you can actually buy money without food wait what but turns out that you can't actually buy food without money even if you're the avatar could you imagine well at least she goes fishing for her polar-bear dog anyway Korra runs into some thugs and long story short she destroys them and the street and is surprised when she faces charges for it but then Korra gets bailed out jail by Tenzin who also decides to take all the responsibility for the damage that korra caused so moral of the story kids as long as you're the avatar everyone else has to deal with it so Tenzin decides to send Korra home because she blatantly disobeyed my wishes and the orders of the White Lotus but then he goes back on that because he can uphold hangs legacy that way and then Korra announces to Republic City that she is the avatar even though the city is so dangerous a core I should probably just stay private like how dumb can you beat the old dead literally said that the city is so dangerous so like why I'm over on the subject there's an evil dude that has a very nice voice so the avatar has arrived early episode 2 horse starts are airbending training and she sucks at it like she literally wrote she literally runs right into this pillar the first pillar she sees when she's supposed to be touching it the next day Tenzin wants core to meditate but she literally gets up after like a minute of meditating to get something to drink I bet you feel really good about your decision to train horn out Tenzin the court decides to go to an airbending sports event despite Tenzin's wishes where she meets another guy who bails her out of trouble oh dude you do not want Korra trust me you really don't and Korra basically tells Chinese knockoff soccer that she's the avatar by telling him that she knows three out of the four elements and he for some reason doesn't get it until his brother being the only logical one at this point blurts it out to him also did a quorum make an announcement in the last episode that she used the avatar I mean how did they miss that so in the third day of course training she still sucks at airbending and she literally burns down the obstacle course and frustration I bet I feel really good about your decision to train for now Tenzin Sakura and Tenten get into an argument and she just cannot accept the fact that she sucks at airbending so she calls Tenzin a horrible teacher funny that you should mention that Quora because Tenzin taught me lo how to airbend Melo's 5 years old this 5 year old has somehow managed to have more patience and intelligence than you this is your third day of airbending you are 17 years old and are acting like such a baby like seriously so maybe Tenzin isn't the terrible teacher maybe you're just a terrible student the court decides to go back to the sports vent and join Chinese knockoff sokka's team because the other dude had his feelings hurt or something so during the event quite accidentally earth bends when she's supposed to be a waterbender and this causes her to be the center of attention at the sports event in Tenzin overhears this commotion going on on the radio and he puts two and two together and figures out Wow Korra literally went to the Sports Arena event despite my wishes the same student that burnt down the freaking obstacle course just today Koren Tenzin get into another argument I'm taking off the filter from Avatar The Last Airbender was a courageous 12 year old who was a bit careless but also had to face a lot of troubles on his avatar journey the only element that Angus buys to Bend was fire and the reason he despised it was because he accidentally burned someone that he loved due to him being careless and did not let go of the disappointment that he felt in himself until he was forced to because even if he doesn't want to he's avatar and he has to fulfill his duty but Korra has possibly got to be the most sorry excuse for an avatar that I've ever seen because core sucks at airbending and she hasn't done anything within three days remind you three days she had to suddenly want to give up on it because it's just so hard you were given the only airbending teacher in the whole world and you just spat on the idea of the avatar and airbending and once they'll swoop you arrogant okay filters back on the middle of the match core literally moves like an airbender even though she literally just argued with Tenzin that it was useless eat that convenient because of that Tenzin apologizes what are you apologizing for what seriously horse episode 3 Chinese knockoff Sokka sucks at Sunny Management Chinese knockoff sarkis sucks at money management yes we can clearly see that Korra anyway Marquand Chinese knockoff Sokka need to make thirty thousand dollars in order to go in the upcoming tournament but like how they even make money in the first place because the money that they do make just basically gets stolen from this guy in the neighbor front wait what do they eat but anyway Chinese knockoff Sarka ends up going into a shady business in order to make money and turns out that when you go into a shady business you get kidnapped and that's exactly what happened so Marco has to go get his brother back in court comes along too because she's the main protagonist of the show and she has to get as much screen time it's pretty possible but when they arrive to the place it seems a little off but usually there would be some thugs hanging outside so Marco decides the best plan of action is to be very stealthy because of the too subtle and they could easily just take his brother in anyway imagine find the shady dudes but they're being taken away by even shadier dudes Sakura and Marko end up catching up to the shady air dudes and genuinely cool fight scene breaks out but they get destroyed by them anyway because they're cheap walkers so the evil masked dude wants to bring equality to benders and non-benders by taking away benders bending but like he's a bender himself he's literally using energy bending to take away bending even the pose for energy bending is similar so like this dude is a big hypocrite how does no one see this the people of this revelation have brains of literal potatoes from not being able to figure this out but anyway korimako managed to break out Bolin I mean Chinese knockoff Sokka episode 4 core is afraid to have her bending taken away because she knows that without her bending she's nothing she's not wrong though Tenzin goes to a council meeting and he disagrees with the dude named tarrlok to go after the revelation because he's evil totally bad even though he literally has no evidence on why he's bad also Marco gets a girlfriend yes this is important to the story but anyway tarrlok rolls up on Tenzin's house and tries to convince korra to join him in the attack on the revelation surprisingly korra declines she finally did something that I actually agree with what I like get to Korra a ton of presents try and convince her to go to his house wait so Tarak decides to get a ton of presents for Korra in order to convince her to lead the revelation until eventually he gives her an invitation to a party just because the city's throwing you this big to-do don't think you're something special you've done absolutely nothing I honestly could not have said it better myself even the one thing that Cora had going for her she flushed down the toilet because she got pure pressured why do I even try anymore and after Court takes out a group of normies she's feeling pretty cocky about herself so she decides to challenge the master boy to a one-on-one match you realize he could just not comply ambush you and take away your bending in one fell swoop right would you look at that that's exactly what happens because the villain has a brain our showdown while inevitable is premature although it would be the simplest thing for me to take away your bending right now I won't well I should scratch that he doesn't have a brain because it said taking away her bending he just lets her go run free like dude how can you be so divine this episode is purely based around Cora's affection for ma CO and Chinese narcho side as a fixture for Korra also this is why I said Asami is important to the story in the last episode I wish I was kidding this episode starts off greatly with Chinese knockoff Sokka thirsting about Korra to his brother I'm gorgeous you know what you are gorgeous my guy no homo but you realize that core is just gonna friendzone you like she did the first time she met you right meanwhile core is having the hots for maka she wonders how she will win over his heart so she decides to take a little kisses advice and confess to him but she gets snide then Chinese NACO Sokka decides to try doing the same thing to quired directly after she confessed her feelings Marco you know what I could use some fun okay pure yes wait she accepted it this can't end well and Marco suspects that Court is just playing him in order to make him jealous what kind of game are you playing I don't want to see his heart get broken wait a second you're not worried about him you're jealous I'm with Asami yeah but when you're with her you're thinking about me aren't you get over yourself but Korra's master plan actually works and he catches some feelings for her but Marco has a girlfriend there's no possible way that he's just gonna go in for the kidney dude what is this freaking episode Chinese knockoff Sokka saw the whole thing go down his girlfriend on his first date cheats on him with his own brother I don't want to see his heart get broken episode 6 so evil masked boy wants to shut down the bending arena because bending bad so Tenzin and the rest of the councilmembers decide to shut down the pro bending match because they will put too many lies danger but for some reason everyone has a problem with this who cares about the sports of it if there are lives that ripped but I agree with the avatar why must you bend your morals for the sake of plot it's so dumb without watching it I already know the arena's just gonna be destroyed oh and would you look at that that is exactly what happens this entire episode is based around the arena getting destroyed and these dudes cheating in a pro pinning match and I obviously don't care about that so that's why we're completely skipping over it but what did you think was gonna happen with the terrorists announced that he was gonna destroy the arena and then you just leave it open oh well what happens the terrace destroys the arena and you can't do crap about it because he decided to plan ahead did you think that he was just gonna be stupid and not remember that there are mendel vendors out there I'm pretty sure anyone with a brain would figure out that if they use electricity against metal burners then it would be really effective oh my goodness this episode was dumb but at least it wasn't as dumb as episode 5 and this fight scene was kind of cool episode 7 blue in arrest Chinese knockoff cabbage man because apparently he's part of the revelation of course jealous of Makos girlfriend again around Avatar is that I call back to the last airbender movie where they couldn't pronounce how to where they sue it also this may not be important to the story but boy is Jax like why don't later send him to take care of evil mask boy also sure the core focus on training instead screen round whether is a freaking revelation going on also core overhears knockos girlfriend's dead try saying that three times fast talking about the revelation she conveniently did in a public office while Korra was at his house because he just couldn't do it any other place but nobody believes Korra suspicion because they like Asami are you that jealous of me and Asami what don't be ridiculous that has nothing to do with it also this too comes along to confirm course theory that Michael's girlfriend debt is indeed a part of the revelation Korra literally gets everything handed to her doesn't she so they had to fight this beat robot and Asami for some reason completely destroys this guard after taking only a few self-defense classes even though those guards are trained to deal with stuff like this how does sell episode eight get his friends to help them look buna might be shut down but we're still a team the new team avatar Bullen just for that you've been demoted back to Chinese knockoff Sokka Sakura and not team avatar find a group of cheap lockers and take them out but then mr. snake it's all angry because he wanted that moolah credit so then he made a law were non-benders of a curfew they're freaking benders so Court decides instead of waiting for Tencent to talk to tarrlok in the morning that she would go confront him herself when I said you guys are patient score I meant it as a joke I didn't think it'd be actual reality well this is a kids show so I guess none of it is reality okay shut up so then the best fight scene in the whole series so far breaks out just look at this fight the choreography the animation it all just it's fantastic man I just there's no way to get around it I honestly wish this fight sequence was a bit longer but then mr. snake blood bends without the full moon no watch there better be some majorly good explanation for this because they didn't just bend the rules of the Avatar universe he just freakin broke it all so why doesn't court just break out these ropes using her firebending what did she just forget out of reach out of her freakin nuts oh nine Lin manages to break off course friends out of jail [Music] get fly was down and he really did downgrade back to Chinese knockoff Sokka didn't he so they go looking for Court in a suspected equals territory let's try this way what if Gore's not down there did everyone just forget what Lin did two seconds ago maybe she should be picking the tunnel also Asami starting to get jealous about ma KO and Korra and Chinese knockoff Sokka blurts out to her that ma KO did indeed kiss korra so why is it saw me getting suspicious now cuz she considered the fact that maybe marco is concerned about his friend that's been faking kidnapped Solan manages to find her police officers but there's no sign of korra so everyone thinks huh we got screwed over by tarrlok didn't we meanwhile core is having flashbacks about blood bender who the blood been without the full moon but the explanation that they give has got to be the stupidest thing i've ever seen they literally just compare metalbending to blood bending are you serious this is their explanation this does not even explain how they do blood them without the full moon they just compared to metal bending which is just completely asinine the way Toph developed metal bending was by taking the fragments of earth inside the metal and Bend that that is how she was able to learn metalbending but this no no they literally take the comparison of metal bending and blood bending as if they're somehow in the same category because they're not this analysis it's just that's so stupid that everyone takes this asad evidence you know what is the real icing on top of this cake that we call a plot hole he could do it with his mind he's not doing any sort of water bending movement he just look at them won't you scratch that he's not even looking at them you just pluck venenum blood Bettina's water Beni therefore you need to perform some kind of movement to make it work hold on I need to take a break after that oh my anyway mr. snake serpent is actually a snake himself and tells principal Tenzin that tarrlok did indeed kidnap Korra and tar-like blood Benzes way out of there which still doesn't make any sense and no I'm never gonna let that go I put it on the freaking grave did everyone just forget that guitar Conor blood bending by waterbending your own body he's nobody gonna mention the missed opportunity that they had to seek out guitar for wisdom and not account her blood bad thing because Korra could have used this later episodes like dude also ain't going into the Avatar state shunick cancel out blood bending unless he was automatically waterbending in that case I I give it a free pass without a full moon well then give us the freaking explanation also mr. snake tries he uses blood bending on evil masked boy but it doesn't work and that confers my theory that he is indeed a freakin waterbender so there you go he is now confirmed to be a hypocritical leader you're welcome also they tried to electrocute Korra while she's in the box but for once she uses her big brain and this is probably the coolest thing that Court has ever done in the series huh episode 10 is literally nobody gonna explain how they're able to blood been without the full moon so he confronts ma Co about his feelings for Korra and he'd use me in a very stupid way my man maka literally dodged the question when his girlfriend's like so what did you do with Korra he's like oh well uh could we not do that right now and so she breaks up with them so almost gets captured alongside the other council members marco reflects lightening which is pretty cool not gonna lie corner ooh toe runs Lin does something cool for once and is annoying so anyway Lin decide to sacrifice herself in order to ensure that Tenzin and his family could get away but you just could have like stayed there and cut the nets so you could also be there to defend them and it would prevent you from getting your bending taken away are you dumb oh yeah and there's this dude named I wrote that sounds exactly like Zuko and that's really friggin cool but his voice doesn't match his face at all tell her we will be arriving in three days time and then I look forward to winning back Republic City episode 11 you're the most loyal brave and selfless person I've ever known you basically just described everything that korra is not what kind of people do you know Marco cuz if Cora is at the top of your food chain as far as friends go then there's something wrong dude but anyway the ships that Iroh brought in are being attacked by the Equalists who put bombs under the show and so far I got a say that I enjoy all the scenes that I rose in like I think he has the potential to be a decent character I just hope he gets a decent amount of screen time so IRA almost drowns into water and Cora has to say 'then my guts telling me it's time to end this probably because we're in the middle of episode 11 sakura and marco find mr. snake and it turns out that mr. snake's brother is actually Ahmad I was not actually expecting that but that just proved my theory that Oman is definitely indeed a bender so some backstory on the two bros so mr. snake's father got surgery settle down into the Water Tribe and made evil mask boy and mr. snake but then one day he found out that the two bros could waterbend so then their father tried the absolute crap out of them he then revealed to his children they use a criminal to Republic City because that's totally something that you would tell your children at a very early age so you want to teach some blood bending and then he taught them how to do blood bending without the mo what Stella then one day their father told them to blood bend each other but after mr. snake felt what it was like to be blood bended he refused to do it to his own brother mr. snake's father was furious so evil masked boy blood bended him in order to protect him then you ran away without his brother or his mother Big Brain top so my thoughts are mr. snake development it's okay it's really nothing to write home about but it's acceptable episode 12 the finale so core begins to expose Oman for some reason people are believing her I mean where did I even bring in the evidence and these are Oman followers so why would they believe the avatar so mana has to take off his mask in order to prove his innocence anyway amana's somehow captured Tenzin and his kids but did they escape like two episodes ago well I guess it's convenient for korimako to have some backup during round one against Oman did he literally find you just because you're breathing too hard Wow you should have at least waited for him to leave the room you dimwit Sakura gets off her bendy taken away meanwhile there's this actually cool fight going on with Iroh and the freaking ships dude I really hope Iroh gets a bunch of screen time holy crap well anyway back to the main lame gore getting her blending Dickon away story one of the mines minions caught in blood bending Cora did you have sounded any more monotone my guy then Paco somehow he manages to use his lightning well he's being blood but okay so Marco tries to run away but is almost immediately blood bended and then is most definitely smacked on the walls like a freaking rock up in any way Marco's about to have his bending taken away when suddenly Cora air bends are you freaking serious I was even possible well they're bending take it away like two seconds ago this show just cross the line made a kid that crossed the line a hundred times and then that same kid married a girl who crossed the line a thousand more times then that same girl married another girl who made freakin Cora who cross all the lines known to man what so core starts attacking Oman with her airbending I hate then Oman blood bends her and then she just overpowers his blood bending because she can but like he's controlling every muscle on her body did they just forget that no no Mon exposes himself because he water bends right in front of all the equalists and his makeup comes off his face so not only is his story out but he's also confirmed to be a hypocritical liar and to top it all off I freakin called it something I want to know though is just why was he using makeup he has a freaking mask half of the money for the equalist must have gone to this man's makeup collection then Oman escapes on a boat with his brother because they totally don't have any conflicting morals or anything but mr. snakes credit at least he ditches blow them up but even if mr. snake sword was kind of forced upon us it's still a character arc and with the end of a character arc comes a new one Cora gorgeous had all for bending taken away other than freaking airbending was the one thing that Cora had now that most of it is taken away from her she can't do anything about it unless she works with what she has airbending poor could train yourself to the be the best airbender in the world she could humble herself as a character and learn to grow as a person and heck maybe she could visit the grew about unblocking her bending because he probably knows a thing or two about that and way is that Aang you're finally connected with your spiritual self but how who's clearly stayed in episode one by this dude that Korra completely ignored her spiritual training and Korra meditating in a box does not count are you kidding me why did she just visit the Guru to get the avatar state should just been given the Avatar state that's just so stupid oh and to make matters worse she has all four bending back could the writer is not seriously and on a sad ending because this so-called happy ending has got to be the stupidest happy ending I've ever seen for the whole season it was building up to Korra getting her bending taken away and then when she gets her bending taken away she's gets it right back why was the point of this whole season they literally gave Korra insurance for whenever she would get her bending taken away because she gets it all back and she is the Avatar state to what the crap so not only did she air bed on a plot armor alone but she also got off her freakin bending back oh my I freaking hate this show secondly she should have even been able to airbend in the first place because she had her bending taken away and I don't care for saying oh well Oman could not protect her airbending because she had never done it before if it were even possible for court to airbend the Noman would have been able to take it away meaning that by that logic she was never able to airbend in the first place until she had all four other elements taken away but she's the freaking avatar Korra should not have gotten her bending back she should have gone to the Guru to figure out how to get into the Avatar State are you kidding me right now course should have gone to the Guru learn how to connect to the spirit world learn how to get into the Avatar State then she go to the spirit world find Aang and get Oliver bending back at the spirit world that way it would be way more acceptable for her to get her bending back and they do that in the second season that's literally named spirits but instead of doing that the writers decided oh what's up ain't come back from the dead for a few seconds and give Korra all her crap back oh yeah what a dick miles will give her the after state what were you guys smoking when you made this episode I rate The Legend of Korra season one I saw one point five out of ten I think I physically lost brain cells from watching this show and I still have three seasons left well expect the season to review in the next upcoming weeks I would really appreciate your feedback on this video because this video took way longer than I expected I'm not sure when the season 2 review will come out but I'll probably announce it somewhere but thank you guys so much for watching this video I'm gonna go bang my head
