[Music] foreign [Music] I'll admit it I'm not the best driver I fit that stereotype Asian women driver I get super stressed out driving in LA traffic I can't parallel park to save my life and changing lanes when nobody will let me in oh forget it I'll just see you tomorrow one of the reasons that I got a Tesla in the first place is because besides it being an electric car I wanted the most technologically savvy and relatively affordable car that could help me with my terrible driving skills and make driving less stressful but is autopilot on Tesla actually worth it when you buy a Tesla you have different options when it comes to autopilot there's a basic autopilot which is free there's enhanced autopilot which is six thousand dollars and there's full self-driving which is a whopping fifteen thousand dollars now when it comes to finances I'm personally willing to spend on things that improve my health and my safety iPad Tesla full self-driving for over two and a half years now and today I'm gonna go over autopilot options at Tesla offers and which one I think is actually worth it what is up everyone it's everyday Chan my channel is all about making every day yours if you're new here hit that subscribe button so you don't miss another video first off I just want to say that none of these autopilot options are 100 hands-free they all require active supervision and you have to move the steering wheel every 10 to 30 seconds or so as a safety mechanism to ensure that you're actually paying attention if you don't you'll get locked out of autopilot for that trip and be sent to autopilot jail autopilot comes with every Tesla with no additional cost it comes with two features Auto steer and traffic aware cruise control it only works on the freeways and when autopilot is turned on Tesla will follow the Lanes on the freeway it's kind of similar to cruise control that iPad on other cars such as the Lexus but way better because it will actually steer for you and follow the veins so you don't have to steer and you don't have to put your foot on the pedal which is awesome I love this feature and I use it all the time especially because I commute a lot for work and also we take a lot of long road trips it does a great job staying in the lanes however sometimes if there's a large truck next to me it gets a little too close to the truck for my own Comfort I'm a pretty nervous driver so in these instances I disengage autopilot and just manually drive myself to turn on autopilot you'd push the right gear stock on twice and you'll see the gray steering wheel turn into blue you can adjust the speed by using the bright squirrel reel and moving it up and down you can also adjust the distance between you and the car in front of you by using the right squirrel reel I love that autopilot is free and comes with every Tesla it makes commuting and road trips a thousand times easier and alleviates a lot of driver fatigue however one big thing that the free autopilot doesn't do is change lanes and follow around so if you're looking for that you may want to upgrade which brings us to our next option enhanced autopilot enhanced autopilot is the next level autopilot that Tesla offers and currently it's six thousand dollars it has additional features such as navigate on autopilot Auto steer summon smart summon and auto park a few years ago enhanced autopilot was not even an option but Tesla brought it back in 2022 and that's the thing about Tesla they're always changing their prices and their options first let's talk about navigate on autopilot it is a super useful feature when you put your destination into the GPS the Tesla will exit the freeway automatically and let you know which Lanes you need to be in to follow the route there are a lot of times where I'm on a freeway that I've never been on and Google Maps is telling me that I need to get onto another freeway but I don't know which lane I need to be in so I end up making a last minute switch which is really stressful and can be dangerous navigate on autopilot tells you exactly which lane you're supposed to be in to follow the route and so it alleviates all that stress my husband loves this feature and he's always on navigation on autopilot but for me I'm a very conservative driver I like to leave plenty of space from the car in front of me because I've been rear-ended before and because I didn't leave enough space to the car in front I ended up hitting the car in front of me so it was basically a domino effect so if there's a lot of stop and go traffic I'm usually not on navigate on autopilot just for my own comfort and when I turn off navigate on autopilot it does not tell me exactly which lane I need to be in to follow the route which makes this feature a little bit useless for me in these instances however in normal free-flowing conditions navigate on autopilot is great another thing that I don't like about navigate on autopilot is that I am the type of driver that if I'm going to be exiting the freeway I would like to be in the furthest to the right lane around two miles before the exit so that way I don't get all stressed out and miss the exit yes I know I can already hear the comments I'm very conservative but that's just how I am but when I'm on navigate on autopilot the Tesla doesn't seem to mind being three lanes over from the exit when it's only a mile away and that just makes me nervous you can manually turn on the blinkers and the Tesla will move Lanes itself but I wish there was an option on navigate on autopilot to move lens over sooner another cool feature about enhanced autopilot is the auto lane chain we're going to navigate on autopilot is on the Tesla will automatically change lanes to follow the route and change lanes to pass slower drivers you can adjust the settings to be more conservative or more aggressive and you can also change it to a setting where it doesn't change lanes on its own and you just use the blinkers yourself this feature works great and I noticed that it has gotten a lot better because two years ago it would take forever to make a lane change that it was basically useless but now it makes Lane changes pretty quickly in a safe manner while auto lane change is not absolutely necessary it's super helpful if I'm driving past my bedtime or I'm super tired and it just makes driving more safe overall it's a nice feature to have next is Auto Park I am horrible with parallel parking and I thought the Tesla would resolve all those issues for me but it still has a lot of work to do most of the time the Tesla doesn't even recognize that there's a parking spot and when it does it takes forever to actually park to a point that all the cars behind me are honking at me so if you think the Tesla will help you out here it won't at least not yet I guess the beauty with Tesla is that they are always improving their technology so maybe next year it'll work something is a cool feature that allows you to move your Tesla in and out of a parking spot with just your phone this is a super useful feature for us especially when getting our dogs in and out and I love it another cool feature is smart summon yes this is like Akio Tesla for my Harry Potter fans with smart summon the Tesla will come to you and navigate obstacles and make its way to you without anyone in the car this is pretty cool but it's more of a party trick because it doesn't work the best yet it's safe and I don't worry too much about it hitting people or or other cars but it stops way too frequently to a point that it's a lot faster and easier if I just walk over to the car myself I guess if I were injured or the weather was terrible then this could be a useful feature to have so is the price of enhanced autopilot worth it enhance the autopilot currently costs six thousand dollars and there is no current subscription model out of the five features that it has I use two on a regular basis which is navigate on autopilot and auto steer summoned I use a couple times a month to get my dogs in and out of the car and the other two's Auto Park and smart summon are very gimmicky and they're really just party tricks I never use them I love the features that it has but six thousand dollars seems a little bit steep for me but to put it into context let's compare to other Tesla products and get everyday Chris over here hello if you don't know already this is everyday Chris he has a YouTube channel that's all about Tesla Tech and everyday life if you were to get a Tesla Model 3 would you rather get the model 3 Performance or enhanced autopilot because they both cost six thousand dollars I think I have to go with the model 3 Performance on that bad boy because at least you could always add autopilot later on because it's just through software whereas the performance models because there's different Motors and all that stuff brakes it's like completely different so if you are interested in the monetary performance definitely get the monthly performance but what if you could only pick one model 3 Performance or enhance autopilot if I had to choose I'd definitely go with enhanced autopilot because of all the road trips to go on it makes life so much easier and we just went to Arizona and autopilot didn't work for us and it was a struggle it was a lot harder to deal with and it's just you just get so much more tired at the end of the trip what if you were to buy the model X and we had kids would you pick the model with the six seater with the captain seats which is six thousand five hundred dollars or would you pick enhanced autopilot which is six thousand dollars we had kids probably the captain's shares definitely because like I said you can't change that I wish we had the captain's chairs if we had kids for sure because of how easy it is to bring the kids in and out you just have so much more space in the back but again it does decrease the total cargo space which is why we didn't get it but yeah I would for sure go with the captain's chairs on that one and then like I said just because you have the car like three four five years down the road you can always add enhanced autopilot later and you can even try the FSD subscription for a month if you wanted to as well bye for now overall we do love the features that it does have but if you're on a budget and you can only pick one pick the one that you can't change first and you can always add enhanced autopilot later I'm still a little bit on the fence about enhanced autopilot I love the features that it has but I don't 100 love it is it worth six thousand dollars that's really up to you and what your priorities are for me with my trust issues and conservative driving I would rather invest that six thousand dollars into something else but if you're like everyday Chris and you love Tesla and Tech he would say for sure get it without a doubt foreign to Tesla's full self-driving option full self-driving will stop at red lights and stop signs and go in green lights it also has Auto steer on city streets which means it'll drive you around town but it's still in the beta version with full self-driving you should be able to get into the car input your destination and the Tesla will drive itself directly to your destination while there have been some improvements since this was released FSD is still a work in progress and in my experience it doesn't do this very well and most of the times I just drive myself let me take you on a test drive and you can decide for yourself let's do it okay I'm a little bit scared here because this is an unprotected left I don't know if the Tesla knows that luckily there's no pedestrians around I'm protected left no cars behind me oh it did a great good job I'm gonna do this and then it should be on this Lane okay I guess that works pretty good very good go oh is my bed there it was gonna go could have made it but uh I just got a little bit nervous good job little buddy okay so that was that was my fault it could have gone but I saw that the light turned yellow so the oncoming traffic was about to go and I just didn't want to again I have to trust issues with the Tesla why are you changing lanes in the middle of the internet swing Tesla what are you doing are you a 16 year old driver with the Learners permit or what now there's a car behind me going to smell their right oh my God it's too slow I'm taking over because there's a car behind me okay so we made it to Pavilions I interfered twice I think I probably didn't have to interview both those times I think Tessa would have just done it just fine it just would have taken longer so two interferences in the span of seven minutes it's not too bad Tesla FSD reminds me of how I used to drive when I was a brand new newbie driver at 16 years old sometimes it's unsure sometimes it makes random Lane changes sometimes it changes lanes and intersection which is illegal basically it's a work in progress when we bought our model y back in 2021 we purchased full self-driving for eight thousand dollars a few months later it went up to ten thousand dollars and then it went up to twelve thousand dollars and now it's fifteen thousand dollars so it has almost doubled the price unlike a car that depreciates over time software continues to improve and get better over time making the software more valuable so who knows in the future it might be even worth more than fifteen thousand dollars also even when Tesla was decreasing the price of all of its models full self-drivings price did not decrease there is a subscription model that costs 199 dollars per month which ends up being a little over six years so if you're going to be keeping your Tesla for more than six years and you for sure want full self-driving then it would make sense to buy it at fifteen thousand dollars right now however the fifteen thousand dollars is still difficult to justify for FSD and its current beta stage I don't think it's worth fifteen thousand dollars however if Tesla software continues to get better and it gets to a point where it's actually able to do what it says it can do meaning it can drive you directly to your destination seamlessly a hundred percent of the time then I think fifteen thousand dollars would be worth it but only time will tell but if you're a Die Hard Tesla and Tech fan like my husband then I'd say maybe FSD is for you however if you're not then fifteen thousand dollars can have a lot better uses for example it's cheaper to upgrade from the model X to the model X plaid which is a ten thousand dollar upgrade compared to purchasing FSD at fifteen thousand dollars if you're curious about FSD try out the subscription model for 199 a month and see if you like it overall Tesla's autopilot features are awesome and it does make everyday driving easier hey everyone this is everyday oh doggies what are you guys doing here that's not every day Chris I said everyday Chris not everyday queso thanks so much for watching and I'll see you guys next time
