in the darkness of Moria a great evil lurks in the Deep here dwells durin's Bane the mighty balrog of morgoth why then amidst the tumultuous events of the war of the Ring did saurin not harness this monstrous force and unleash it upon his foes greetings fellow explorers of Middle Earth before we get started I'd like to quickly mention that I have released a range of merchandise for the channel so if you like the look of the designs click the Link in the description below to view the full range today we will delve into the darkness of sauron's Mind seeking the whispered secrets that reveal the reasoning behind his lack of interest in recruiting doran's Bane to his cause first of all let us Ponder if Sauron did try to recruit the balrog would it willingly Embrace his call although a festering rage and a desire for Retribution had undoubtedly long burned in the balog's soul it's actions seem to be mostly driven by a deep rooted fear ever since the fall of morgoth and the vanquishing of its Brethren it sought solace in the solitary depths under the Misty Mountains a sanctuary far from the dangers awaiting it upon the surface stirring only to ward off Intruders it would seem that its once fiery Spirit now smoldered with a desire for Solitude and a yearning to be forgotten these clandestine movements betray a creature bound to its Haven under Moria fearful of the world that awaited Beyond perhaps it trembled at the thought of facing the valar's Judgment a fate more dire than any mortal Doom thus the balrog would be unlikely to willingly March under sain's Banner for in its heart burned a solemn reluctance to dance once more in the Flames of War it's vital to note that the balog's malevolence does not necessarily dance to the same tunee as that of Sauron though they may share adversaries the threads of their desires May well weave desperate paths through the fabric of their souls the balog utterly loyal to melor found kinship in its Master's designs thus we can assume that Duran's Bane harbored Ambitions akin to melkor's desire for Destruction and Chaos Sauron on the other hand craved the Symphony of order and Dominion a conductor bent on orchestrating a world to his design perhaps the balrog found solace in the tumultuous Whirlwind of disorder uing the Dark Lord's vision of structured control for the raw power of Anarchy that evil so fervently Embraces if the balog would not willingly join him would it have been possible for Sauron to compel The Reluctant balrog to his side it is important to note that the Dark Lord did not outrank the balog within the divine order of creation saurin and durin's Bane are both ethereal entities born of primordial Essence and belonging to the illustrious lineage of the Ina the Ina that chose to descend into the world were classified into two ranks the more powerful Valor and the less powerful Maya saurin and durin's Bane were both classified as Maya however within the order of the Maya strength intelligence and power weave diverse patterns each individual Maya possesses unique skills and traits made making no two alike Sauron a Titan amongst Maya wields a greater power than that of a balrog such as dorin's Bane over the passage of time however zarin's power waned his physical form was destroyed in the cataclysm of numor downfall stripping him of considerable strength he then poured a substantial part of his Essence into forging the ring a fragment of himself now distant thus his might dwindled greatly dorin's Bane beholding this weakened Spirit might have deemed him a much spent Force Unworthy of Allegiance or fty at least until the dark lord regained the ring Sauron may not have been able to demand obedience from the balro based on sheer power he could however still have attempted to sway it with the strength of his indomitable Spirit the Dark Lord's command over his orc Legions is a testament to the strength of his will this is evidenced when his armies alter as his gaze wanders to Mount Doom stirred by Frodo's claim to the ring and far away as Frodo put on the ring and claimed it for his own the dark lord was suddenly aware of him and his eye piercing all Shadows looked across the plane to the door that he had made and throughout his realm a Tremor ran his slaves quailed and his armies halted and his captains suddenly steerers bereft of will waved Ed and despaired for they were forgotten the whole mind and purpose of the power that wielded them was now bent with overwhelming Force upon the mountain commanding the spirit of a fellow Meer would stand as a colossal challenge far more difficult than reigning over the thoughts of a humble Carter of orc captains it is likely that he lacked the power to sway a fellow mea especially in the absence of the Ring Zaron a master of Deceit and manipul po ation wielded his craft with undeniable finesse so could he possibly have engaged in discourse with the balro or perhaps sway its Allegiance through cunning artifice balcks often misconceived as mere Brawn devoid of intellect likely possessed intelligence akin to their other mea kin such as Sauron and San once Celestial beings whose harmonious Melodies birthed the very Universe they are far from witless thus it stands conceivable that the dark lord might have endeavored to sway the balog to his cause Sauron could weave Illusions Conjuring spectacles to beguile the balog into forsaking its Sanctuary persuading it that its best chance of survival lay in Alliance indeed such trickery and deception seamlessly aligned with the Dark Lord's modus operandi false apparitions were a much used trick within his repertoire from the candles in the dead marshes to the Visions he presented to the ring wraiths in order to bring them under his control Sauron is adept at this technique if this was indeed a viable option then why did he not attempt to ensnare the balrog in his web of Deceit extricating the balrog from the depths of Moria was a venture that did not align with the Dark Lord's desires and for Myriad reasons it was not beneficial to his war effort King DNE of arabor refrained from attempting to reclaim the Lost Halls of kazak Doom this was largely due to the menacing presence of the bog which had served as the Lynch pin preventing durin's folk from marshalling a large Force to reclaim Moria for Generations the Resurgence of a majestic Dwarven realm in the very heart of Middle Earth would have constituted a Monumental strategic setback for Sauron an outcome he could ill afford the balrogs barring of the path under the Misty Mountains hindered sauron's fo's movements while granting his own forces free passage amidst the shrouded Peaks whenever they will thus he embraced the balrog's presence within Mora's depths a similar thought process guided his decision concerning Shob he permitted her Reign Over the pass of kirth unol for she proved a Vigilant Sentinel and a steadfast deterrent to any wishing to sneak unseen into Mordor balrogs are Fierce Warriors they are not known for their understanding of strategy or for providing Sage counsel rather they are the blunt instruments of Destruction Zaron with a confidence bordering on arrogance saw no need for further bolstering of his military might for in his eyes his Legions were unrivaled unmatched in strength and ferocity with unwavering conviction he believed that Victory would be his carved with the sheer force of his armies their banners dark against the sky their March relentless and unyielding for in Gondor the strength of men ebbed like the fading light of dusk Rohan too teet on the precipice of annihilation as the realm was besieged by the malevolent schemes of seron Dwarven strength once formidable was now distant and somewhat diminished they would not Aid men in their fight all Elven kind had turned their gaze away from Middle Earth their departure soon to leave a void in the ranks of those those who would stand against the encroaching Darkness within the terrifying ranks of Mordor however many mighty beasts dwell among them marched colossal olog High towering mumakil from the land of harad and the dreaded nazou arride great Fel beasts Sauron amidst such terrible might would scarcely have seen the need for yet another Warrior to join their ranks it's also crucial to understand the Dark Lord's demand for unwavering Allegiance and submission each of his commanders and soldiers willingly knelt before him yet amidst this Dominion the balog Akin in essence to Sauron would stand as a potential rival Sauron would remember well the tale of angolian the great spider and melor United in dark Harmony they sowed seeds of Ruin together yet beneath the cloak of their paack treachery lurked in angolian black heart as recounted in the silmer merilan but angolian had grown great and he less by the power that had gone out of him and she Rose against him and her Cloud closed about him and she enmeshed him in a web of clinging thongs to strangle him then morgoth sent forth a terrible cry that echoed in the mountains deep in forgotten places that cry Was Heard far beneath the ruined Halls of angband in vaults to which the Valor in the haste of their assault had not descended balrogs lurked still awaiting ever the return of their lord and now swiftly they arose and passing over Heath Loom they came to louth as a tempest of fire with their whips of flame they smote asunder the webs of angolian and she quailed and turned to flight belching black Vapors to cover her these events would likely serve as a cautionary tale for saon casting a shadow upon any notion of an allegiance with durin's Bane the dark claud's Grand Design from the forging of the Rings of power to the tumultuous War of the Ring converged upon one fervent desire absolute Dominion a peer and a fellow meire dwelling among his cohorts could stir unrest upon his quest for dominance over all life in conclusion while the absence of the balrog from sauron's ranks may seem perplexing at first glance it serves as a reminder of the complexities of choice and Destiny it prompts us to reflect on the multifaceted nature of evil and the diverse perspectives that exist within tolk keen's rich and fascinating mythology thank you all very much for watching if you have enjoyed the
