I absolutely loved this movie, but this scene isn't nearly as satisfying or thrilling without the context of the full movie.

People who have not seen the movie would do themselves a great disservice to watch this scene. Watch the whole movie, it is amazing and only them will you fully appreciate the tension in this finale.

Just watched this a few days ago and just...Geeeeeeeeeze. I was literally speechless after watching it and I just felt plain uncomfortable. You can argue all you want about how this might be a 'happy'-ish ending, you know since the dude seems to acknowledge him and support him, but all I can imagine his how horrible this drummer is going to make his life. What a dark freaking image it left me with.

Excellent movie, but it was definitely one of those that made me completely uncomfortable at multiple points watching it. Kudos to JK Simmons for being able to play a complete monster in human form.

The second time I watched it, I was so excited to see this scene again. It was going and I told myself, "man, this part was better the first time I watched it" and then boom, 0 to 100 real quick.

This scene doesn't fail to get my heart racing.

I felt the movie left it up to you whether you would want to go through something like that for greatness , or if would see some things are more important, and like the film says it's the ones that would go through that and desire to be so great , that become the greats. I think even the title of the film Whiplash and the ambiguous nature of the themes setup this idea that to be that good it's gonna cause some ill side effects and you might get bent and twisted on the way ....but it's not saying that's a good or bad thing , I think it's just saying that that kind of a journey is for some and not for others...to each is there own.
