Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
And then the next year in '85 William Hurt (who portrayed the older version of CW's friend Peter) won the same award. A lot of talent in that episode.
I was obsessed with Amadeus as a kid. And amazingly, the make up they used to age Salieri was so good, they really did anticipate what F. Murray was going to look like today!
IIRC, the original shot of CW holding his Nebula (in season one) was actually an image of Abraham holding his oscar. After "Backstory" was aired, they Lucas-ed it to show Josh Brener instead.
I had really hoped that 2021 Peter was going to be played by Tom Hulce (Mozart).
I’m usually against stunt casting but I thought that could have been fun.
Abraham is such an incredible actor.
When interviewed about the Oscar curse, aka “F. Murray Abraham syndrome”, he said winning the award was one of the most important events in his life. He went on and said the curse is nonsense. Rather, he admits since winning the award, he was insufferable to work with, with hubris getting in the way.
Never saw this movie. Ended up Watching today. It was fantastic!
I love this scene. It really highlights Mozart’s genius vs Salieri’s comparative mediocrity and shows the beginnings of his desire to destroy Mozart.
Whenever I see him on Mythic Quest I think of him as Salieri. Appropriate that he won his Nebula Award by “stealing” the work of Isaac Asimov and his plan for immortality in Mozart was to steal Mozart’s Requiem.
He killed Mozart!
Whoa…
