I am getting the distinct feeling that you guys would like me to talk about race so we're gonna follow that Vibe remember if it gets weird this was your idea so I was doing gigs a little while ago down in Melbourne with a comedian I don't respect and um we were we were in The Green Room right and I'm just sitting there minding my own business and he walks in he doesn't say anything he doesn't say hi he doesn't say nothing he just walks in and to no one in particular he just goes Matt I don't [ __ ] understand it and when I get on stage and I do my English accent no one bats a [ __ ] eyelid but when I get on stage and I do my Indian accent everyone loses their [ __ ] minds that's not equality and I was like you know what actually you're correct that's not equality that's Equity because those two accents sit at either end of something I like to call the impression oppression ratio Spectrum if you are about to do an accent of someone and you don't know whether it's going to ruin the party you're at here is a completely free guide correct a white man is on a stage about to solve racism you've nailed it I love this because everyone gets so tense at the start of this joke it's my [ __ ] favorite I live with this [ __ ] I chub up this is the way I figured right this is my joke math the more a society cultural group of people have been recently and historically systemically oppressed the more likely your impression of them is to be offensive because whether you like it or not you're kind of piling on and punching down right the more a society culture or group of people have never been oppressed or historically been the oppressor that's your window go for [ __ ] gold let me give you an example look at the Swedish Chef that is undeniably a racist stereotype of a Swedish man but no one has so much as whacked a waffle out of a swede's hand you can walk up to a Swedish Backpacker tonight looking dead in the eye and go aha Sweden ah I heard who tonight I'm not just look at you and be like that's actually a very good impression about prime minister and yes that's good maybe we could discuss this over an obscure flavored shyder how about this [ __ ] them [ __ ] the English [ __ ] 600 years of colonial genocide you open a British pub and you've got the [ __ ] nerve to make your special a chicken tikka masala how [ __ ] dare you that's blood Curry okay and when I do say I find that very offensive shut the [ __ ] up marmalade in her mouth fix your teeth you've got all the charm of a well-packaged meat raffle all right but if I were to go down the other end of the spectrum and I started doing like a for instance like a Chinese accent I'm not gonna do it um even though my Nan's Chinese we can all agree coming out of this face it would just be a little bit weird you know what I mean it wouldn't feel right but let's hypothetically say that scale is a one to ten right you've got one down here 10 up there that means you've got this four to six middle ground that sits on the fence where like Italians sit scores see no one cares we've got a really good relationship with the Italian Community in this country you can be a telephobic sure I'm not denying that but we [ __ ] love Italians in this country everyone's seen The Sopranos Pizza is a Smash Hit okay I [ __ ] love Italians we love Italians so much in this country we immediately forgave them for siding with the Nazis like immediately we liberated Europe and the Italians were there just be like yeah I'm so sorry about all of the things and we were just like ah forget about it bring your giant ovens and your alcoholic toddlers Melbourne's waiting get in get in I'm so quick the gods honest truth is they sucked at it they were terrible fascists they were really bad at it it is impossible to run an effective genocidal War Machine when the core principle of your cultural identity is loving your grandma you can't do it man every time an Italian would go commit a war crime then Nana would just grab them by their ear just like where are you going now Lamborghini no you stay they're familiar they come around to see you okay okay no genocide they only today no genocide only today your puppy he make a beautiful fresh Focaccia just for you no solution finale okay no solution in Finale you stay and you enjoy the Bambinos and Divino and the red wine okay we are familiar you understand the oven the oven only for cannelloni thank you [Applause]
