When Scammers Think They Lost $50,000

the other day i was on the phone with a scammer and i had been talking to him for a while he was pretty aggressive when another scammer started to call me i merged the two calls together and they erupted they started fighting with each other and ultimately the first scammer decided to just lay everything out and say or scammers he's scamming you he then called me back claiming to be with the federal trade commission and completely changed his scam it was pretty interesting and it ends with him being very angry so you might enjoy it hold on i'm getting a call from someone who's saying he's from the computer refund department it's no one you just don't know that call nobody is that because of the mistake you made or what i was calling you it's me only who is calling you i'm gonna try to get another scammer to fight this guy yeah hi billy yeah yeah hi billy how are you i'm okay how are you uh i'm not okay uh could you please tell me what exactly happened with you billy well i got a call from you guys and it was just uh i got another guy on the other line from microsoft he just sent me fifty three hundred dollars accidentally he was supposed to send me three hundred dollars is that why you're calling me are you the boss give me one moment you got five yes i'm the senior manager you you by mistake you got five thousand three hundred dollars so yeah you know what let me put you let me put them on the clock okay because i i don't know how to make sense of that okay i i just want i just wanted my three hundred dollars i put them i put you both on the call okay so i got the one guy you're saying you're the boss and this other guy's saying that he's his own boss so which one of you is lying no billy just give me one moment i want to tell you one thing billy are you in your computer right now yes or no yeah first of all the person who's been talking to you on the other phone and telling you that he's my boss you know my boss okay he's just a scammer he's trying to oh billy amazing how can i help you yeah hi billy uh i just want to let you know one thing my name is adam i'm calling you from ftc federal union i just want to let you know one thing did you got a refund call today right yeah listen i i need to go to the bathroom all right you said it was a scam or something i hung up on him can you call me back in like 10 minutes because i don't know yeah before you hang up you're right before you hang up on me i just want to let you know one thing okay before you go to bathroom and that's really gonna protect yourself okay all right so listen to me the scammers will try to call you again and again from different numbers all right you are a man to realize one thing that it's your hard-earned money and you should not lose the money in person correct do me a favor do me a favor and do me one favor and that will be whichever bank you have doesn't matter is chase a bank of america credit union i don't know what the name of your bank is but you have your bank's number first of all shut down the computer they will try to crash your compute as a revenge as a revenge they might gonna crash a computer because yeah if they can't take money from you the first thing what this guy do is they always try to crash the customer's computer as a revenge i'm gonna try something crazy yes i'm okay listen listen i have an idea these guys keep calling me you send it from the ftc 9-1-1 right right my name i have an idea my name is adam okay you said it's a scam right i'm going to conference you online don't say anything and i'm going to go along with it and i want you to listen to what they say and you catch them in their line right and and then you catch them you catch them red-handed and then you call them out on on it all right right and the fourth thing and the fourth thing you're gonna do is all right i will always remember in between i'm gonna do like ding ding ding ding ding this is a music this is actually a signal which i'm giving to you as a red flag ding ding ding ding ding that's a music okay got it and then you will understand right whenever i'm gonna do this ding ding ding ding ding you will understand that all right adam is giving me a signal okay that this is a red flag what did i ask you all right so now i'll be quiet i'll be quiet now hello yeah okay sorry i had to go to the bathroom what's going on i don't know what to do i don't know what to do no no you first of all you be calm in order to take so much stress on you okay what happened let me tell you there's a lot of telemarketing companies are using our bank name and the brand name and they took out the numbers from the server and then they try to cheat the customers so we don't do such things so our server somehow got hacked and that is the reason your account was charged and your services were activated they are the only person who is telling you that they are my boss actually they are not my boss okay they are a daily marketing company they have hacked our server and they only i'm sorry that was just my alarm that was just my alarm going off oh okay so they are the owners what do i do with them activate them what do i do with the fifty three hundred dollars can i just call my bank and have him send it back to you you no no no no no no we cannot we cannot deal with the banking branch right now because our server has been hacked by some uh fraudulent company can you tell me uh billy that which is the nearest stone you have nearby your home but there is nothing wrong with your account all your money are there [Music] okay what do you want me to do at best buy uh you just need to collect the uh gift cards from the best buy we are they are our brand-new that guy on the other line is from the fbi and all that thing recorded didn't we there right i mean uh adam are you there right this is adam here billy i want you to hang up on them now yeah you know what adam told me everything he told me he's from the fbi and that you guys were just scamming me you're good for nothing criminals this is not normally how things go but i wanted to switch it up and try something different today so i know it's sort of hard to follow those of you who have been here many times probably can follow what's going on but if you're newer it might not make a lot of sense so i'm going to try really quick to explain it there's a a refund scam where they pretend to give you money in your bank account i had another scammer calling me and so i merged the two calls and they fought each other they were very angry you know what if i can't scam him no one will kind of thing and he took the route of i'm gonna pretend to be the fbi and just start yelling their scammers i'm from the ftc i'm from the fbi so then i told them let's catch them red-handed i'm gonna merge the calls but you be quiet and he said that if anything bad happens i'm gonna say ding ding ding ding ding so ftc open up ding ding ding ding either way i'm gonna call back that guy from the ftc well he's not really from the otc because i think he's going to be a really aggressive the scammers that can lie like that announcement off the top of their head are really good scammers unfortunately so i'd like to keep him on the line [Music] yesterday regarding the refund and we oh like i bought the refund we give you some extra amount into your account do you remember that i don't remember my name is steve like you have a word which is stephen john yesterday okay allow me to speak to him okay allow me to speak to you this is this is my son this is my son on the phone you spoke to my father yesterday yes sir okay and and what refund is he getting by the way like you see already paid us last year for the computer services so we just refund that money yesterday into him account but by mistake we'll transfer that huge amount that's the 5 300 which is which he's supposed to get only 300 and the rest of the money have to refund us back okay okay i got you all right now is it possible for you to get out of my life and get out of my father's life i tell you why because we know the fact that you guys are scammer and by the way you are talking to an ftc officer we are trying to trace you down because you guys are basically calling from a company from india am i right okay calm down son calm down belly belly belly belly you're talking to an officer do one thing hang up on them right away all right it's of no use talking to a scammer so the same concern is m so i'm concerned about you he told me in the morning that there is a customer called billy and some camera have tried calling you to get money from you right so i i'm i work for adam with the same company okay okay so my job check whose computer got corrupted or not so i'm just helping you okay so do you know where he went to school my grandson is interested in being a police officer but maybe he should work for the ftc that's what i that's what i was saying scam then huh why what they do is basically they try to put virus in the computer and they try to steal the money as well you know now look on the bottom i just found out exactly what they did yesterday read that what do you see now look on the very bottom and read that virus put on computer 2050 120 what is it what does that mean oh my god what does that mean 2015 me i tell you what allow me to speak for us okay um virus put on the computer is 2050 virus in total okay what they did to you is yesterday they put 2050 virus in your computer okay and the date was the 28th of january 2020. coming back to the problem which was a severe problem in regards to your bank all right they tried to send you the money in your checkings account remember correct they told you that you will be getting a refund for three hundred dollars i need to see what they did yesterday okay what's this is a security question so right you answer the question what better answer the question your bank is asking you what street did you grow up on i answer that question i know but yeah i don't know if you're supposed to know the answer though that's the thing no no no no when you type it please remember when you type something it appears like this way like a dot dot dot dot okay oh okay so you won't you won't be able to see now sir i'm not even interested i'm just trying to do my job you can ride all right so this guy exactly is trying to basically okay are you ready to listen to what happened okay now there is a test right but i can't to whom you paid some amount of money last year if you remember okay and how much did you pay that money do you remember that first you tell me that how much money you paid it was 300 now what do you see in your computer right now i don't see anything is it broken no no it's not broken do you see a black screen on the computer yes or no yeah yeah what's wrong with it it's not wrong with that i'm giving you a confirmation number from the ftc all right i want you to first take a pen i can't see anything at all okay so he talks because i'm giving you a confirmation number once you get the confirmation number then you will get everything right so now telling you now you've been paying taxes for 60 some odd years i pay your salary you know and if it were up to me you'd be out of a job treating me like this okay every time you're cutting yourself a question i'm saying why there was there was five thousand dollars in my account yesterday and then there was ten thousand dollars after they transferred me money and now there's 55 000 that's what i'm telling you billy that there has been a huge mistake here i tell you what okay now listen to me there is a tech support company correct called procare all right you paid 300 to them last year for your computer services okay okay got it now this technicians who basically work for that company procare okay those technicians left the job just because that company got shut down okay all right so what was the name shut down the name of the company is procare p-r-o-c-a-r-e procare he's just making a bunch of stuff up he doesn't know any of this he's not actually with ftc obviously your computer is not broken all right i just move them out you can meet them okay you move them out you move them out you're talking to a [ __ ] all right i'm trying to look up the company procare on the google you man and then he was treating me a lot mm-hmm definitely if he have done something wrong with you if he called you with some names in that case i personally want to make sure that ftc department take legal actions against him and fire him from the job for sure you will be only talking to me from now on okay i'll make sure nobody else talks to you because you are more comfortable talking to me all case history what exactly happened okay i mean howard dunwoody for all we know he had medical bills and debt piling up he might not have been able to pay his medical bills eric jones children anymore because they would have taken all the money and then poor patricia i mean i can't imagine losing what's that her entire life savings can they might have taken all of the money out of my account and then i an 80 something year old man i've got tons of medical problems i can i can barely move i wouldn't have been able to go back to work on the computer my life would be over but you you saved them and you saved me so thank you for that what do you think you're a good man now what do you now what do you see on the computer now he's just avoiding it because he doesn't he doesn't even want to process look on the computer and tell me what you see in the coming years that's okay 50 000 is actually mr khan's money the 50 000 okay and okay so he 58 the way that this guy's gonna pull out he's supposed to return the money back to mr khan what i'll do is i'll give you all the information that is required okay for you to transfer the money back to mr khan okay okay you know what i can do actually just to help him out um i actually i was actually planning on going out this morning for some groceries i could stop by the bank and wire him the money today i would be happy to do it no problem you can even do that i have no problem with that okay well why don't you do this then uh can you have mr khan call me with his bank account information and i'll wire it to them right now mr in my account they ask you to go get gift cards but um hopefully we can just socially engineer him to give his bank account information which we've had a lot of success um working with some of the national banks and some fraud team folks to actually investigate the bank accounts that they give us now definitely you can do whatever you feel like all right just go to your bank and make a wire transfer if if in between if they ask you do you know this person person or do you know him do you know this person i saw you sending this money stop stop stop stop i have kept repeatedly telling you one thing all right any customer i'm not even talking about you i'm not only talking about you i'm talking about anyone any tom dick harry any customer who goes to any bank stop now you're acting too smart now stop i'm saying tom decary or was it dakari tom dakari stop youtuber i know what you're doing okay you you go to the bank all right if they ask you do you know this person to whom you're sending this money say oh yes i know him what did you say did he just you say if they ask him did he just throw that out do you it's like a random if you say i don't know him can you use the word no just in case they will not gonna send the money but if you say yes i know arrogance one positive answer can make the transaction go through okay so i really want you to save yourself all right so if they ask you do you know this person say yes because i am telling you to say yes simple keep it simple all right i want you to hang up now go to your bank make the transaction get the receipt call me back okay got it go to the bank get the transaction okay right did you send the money yes or no well that's what i'm trying to explain to you so i told him that i wanted to to send the money and he he asked me just like you said do you know the guy and i i told him you know i'm well i i said i sort of know the guy and uh i i need to send him the money right away and so the the thing i totally forgot about and the guy reminded me of my son my son he has the power of attorney if you will nice it's the account the bank account in order for me to do something like that i need permission from my son you go to your home okay and call me from your home okay i will ask you to write two checks or three checks all right so you can write the check and you can mail it back to mr khan okay why why would i do that i said before you get arrested okay let me do one thing let me do one thing now let me call mr khan what i'll do is i'll send two officers to your house within two hours to make sure you get arrested now you wait and watch what i'll do okay i'm talking about that you got my client's money i'll send two shutters also you know the whole story i'm your client you work for the ftc you
