(upbeat music) - A lot of times we get asked by you guys, how do we come up with video ideas. Well, it's things that
we're interested in, and there are a lot of times
they're spur of the moment. Like right now, we got
our Tesla model X key. - It looks like a Hot Wheels
car, which is awesome. - It is, it's actually a really cool key. - So I'm gonna show you what cool things this key does before we cut it open. So watch this, if you
put it into your pocket and you walk up to the door, car turns on, opens up the door, you can step in, and then I think this one's the brake, right? - [Man] That's the brake. - You press this, the door closes. - Don't ever drive the car. Kids, don't try to drive a
car unless you have a license. - This key has five buttons,
and if you double tap on the sunroof at the very top, you double tap it, and the front door, the drivers seat, opens. If you double tap one more time, the passenger seat, is that right? - That's the passenger seat. - The passenger seat.
- That's true. - That opens. There's two other buttons. If you press down twice,
that falcon wing will open. If you press on this
side, that one will open. And the trunk, where the trunk is, and then it opens. And then as you press on the T. - This is the frunk, they call it. - You press down once on
the sunroof, watch this. All of the doors close. Pretty cool. (upbeat music) - So there's your tutorial of what the Tesla key actually does. - And we have a bunch of
actual Tesla Hot Wheels cars. - These are Hot Wheels
cars, this is a Model X car that is white, so I
thought it would be cool, looks just like ours. - They go very fast, see watch this. - They do, watch out for the razor blade. - Yes. - So this is the white
Tesla Model X, this our key to the Tesla Model X, says
Model X right on the back. And then this, I know it's a Model X, but this is what I like to dream about, it's my vision board
for the Tesla Roadster that` I wanna get in
2020 when they come out. - Yes! (man screaming) - If I get enough referrals, we would have a Tesla Roadster that we
could give people rides in. (man screaming) Now we are going to cut open the key and take it apart and actually show you what's inside of it, and for us to see 'cause I'm actually curious 'cause there are a lot of buttons on this. Whoops. All right, let's get rid of the fake cars and we've got the real cars here. Let's use one of them, which
one's in better condition. How much does it cost to
replace a Tesla Model X key. - Siri's not gonna answer. - Siri?
- No. - [Automated Voice] Here's
what I found on the web for is right now how much
does it cost to replace a-- - She never answers.
- A Tesla Model X key. - Anything. - Okay, oh well. So this key costs a few
hundred dollars, my guess, to replace it, I don't know,
I'll put the cost up here because after we make this
video we're gonna have to go and actually get one replaced. Tesla Model 3 does not
even have a key like this, it's a credit card that's
a little chip inside of it and that goes inside of your wallet. And when you walk up
to the car you wave it in front of the side of the door and the door unlocks for you. So it's an actual key card. In the future, what they are looking to do is Tesla would like to have your keys just associated with your phone. So they're forward thinking. That's pretty cool. - It is time. - I have this red razor
blade that's sharp. - This one looks cooler. - This one looks cooler,
so why not go with that. In case we need it, we just sharpened this and it is tough, right now. - It is? - So one of the problems
that I've had with this key is that if you leave it in your car, which when we put it
in our garage sometimes we leave it in there overnight,
it's always pinging the key. The car is just pinging
to the key over and over and our battery dies every couple months and we have to get a new one. And the battery that's
inside of these things, let me show you, you put
the blade right under there let's with these other ones, you put the blade right on the back and you just kind of pop it like it's hot. And it comes off. So right up here you see
you've got this CR2354, this is a battery that I
went to many grocery stores and battery stores and
they didn't have it. - It's three volts. - It's a little tricky
to get, there we go. This is the battery. I feel like-- - Whoa, look how thick that battery is! - It's really thick. There's the key fob data,
it'll be blurred out on this video, but it's right there, it tells you all the
information that you need. - Wait, why do you want
it to be blurred out? - Because people could
take that number and somehow like program on a key
and it would work to our car. Possibly. I'm gonna take that off maybe. All right, so that sticker
is off that has our actual car information for key fob. Inside of there--
- It's called a key plob? - Key fob, fob. - That's with like the actual barcode? - No that's the name of
this whole thing, key fob. I don't know what fob means,
but that's what it is, F-O-B. - Why did we call F-O-B,
did it stand for something? - Maybe. Hey, Hunter! Oh yeah, run it along that. The knife actually goes
right down in there and pry it away pretty easily. Whoa! We shot the falcon wing doors off. That was actually a lot easier
than I thought on the sides, I wonder if the other
side does the same thing. So you stick a razor
blade right down there, turn it, and it just pops off. So the sides, the falcon
wing doors come off surprisingly easy, all
that the falcon wing doors are trying to do is there's
a button on the back. You can kind of see on the
back of this thing, there's one button.
- Oh yeah, I see it. - And then the button.
- Right there. - Yeah, and then the
button goes into there and that's where it's pushing,
so it's just pushing into that little spot. If you look at this key fob on both sides, there are two different little notches, and I think that's where
you can just pop off. Oh. - What is that in the front? - That's the trunk. The front trunk button, it fell out. - Ooh. - Well, I don't know, let's
just continue to take it off. And this one opens up even more, so you can see the bottom of it. The falcon wing doors
are attached right here. And so we might, yeah, we just... Look at that. Oh my gosh. Look at that. - Tesla makes things
easy for us to destroy. We're not even destroying it. - No, we're just taking it apart. This is, I thought for sure
like, you saw the tools. I thought we were gonna
destroy this thing. - Four, five, six, seven,
eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13. - 13, 13 different parts to this. (evil laughing) How smart is your key? Can your key do as many
things as Tesla's key does? Can we put this back together? - No, we cannot, if we get the Zach here. - I think we could, if
you know somebody that wants a Tesla for the
next couple of months, we have a link in the
description to our code. And think about how
many people are gonna be getting free supercharging
because they use our codes. If you learned something
today, look us up. I'm gonna see how many. - Wait, that's the name of this key? Like that's what you would call it? - Any key fob, any key that
has that that's like electric, it opens your car like push button start, you call it a key fob. - It's like the worst name ever.
