just as in midgard you'll need to eat food during your time in valheim although starvation isn't currently possible in the game food is essential to increasing your health and stamina without it you'll have the measly 25 base health points 50 base stamina and heal at one hp every 10 seconds not exactly ideal looking at each of the foods in the game you'll see that they have a score for health stamina and healing rate these scores indicate how much of each will be added to your base stats on consumption but as you can only digest up to three different food types at a time you'll need to think carefully about which combination of foods you'll want to consume the color of the fork shown on each food indicates which boost that food will give you the most of if consumed the red fork indicates food that primarily boosts health yellow fork food primarily boosts stamina and a white fork indicates a balanced food that will boost both health and stamina equally but as a general rule meats will typically boost your health and healing rating game while fruits and veggies will mostly boost your stamina depending on what you're doing you'll want to eat different combinations of food one exploring and resource gathering you want to consume stamina rich foods well if you're planning on taking on a dungeon camp or the next bus you want to make sure you have more health boosting foods early on in the game you'll have limited food options from foraging and hunting but as you progress into the mid and late game you'll unlock new cooking stations and a range of different recipes for foods that will radically boost your stats something important to consider when choosing which food to eat is this duration here this indicates how long until this food becomes completely digested and will no longer boost your health stamina or healing rate in fact as food is digested your food buffs will diminish at a faster and faster rate until they get to zero about halfway through digestion food will give you about eighty percent of the original baths but in the last tenth of remaining time you'll only have about fifty percent of those original buffs because of these diminishing returns you'll want to replace your food a while before your character has fully digested it here you can see how long each food has left to digest halfway through digestion you'll notice the food will start to flash at this point you'll be able to replace this food and eat something else either more of the same or something different in the final minute before a food becomes fully digested it will flash more rapidly but ideally you'll have replaced your food long before this it's also important to remember that food won't instantly increase your health and stamina when you eat it so allow some time for your buffs to kick in particularly before summoning any of the bosses [Music] trust me foods with higher healing rates will get your health there quicker but you can also speed this up by being rested or drinking regeneration meats and also by avoiding being wet cold or freezing luckily if you've made a mistake with what you've eaten you can always use the beet berries dropped by gray dwarfs and fuelling to completely empty your stomach and start again nice and that's it thanks for watching i'll maybe make a more detailed food guide at some point but for now this was just a quick summary of the basics please leave a like if you liked and subscribe for more guides like this in the future until then have a great day
