every 46 minutes you spend in valheim there is a 20 chance that a raid event may occur but what are these raids how do they work and how can you prepare for them in this video i'll be going through all of that and even more of odin wheels it raid events in belheim are a type of random event in which hostile creatures will be sent to attack you mostly at your base there are currently 11 different raid events in belheim and these can be clearly split up into two main categories army raids and non-army raids army raids are sent by the next forsaken boss that you're set to take on they will be made up of creatures from the biome that that forsaken boss can be found in and crucially these army raids will be deactivated once you vanquish the boss sending them non-army raids on the other hand are also activated through world progression defeating bosses but unlike army raids they cannot be deactivated once you've activated them when a rate has begun a message will appear on screen and if you play with the music on you'll notice the tune change most of these messages are unique to a specific grade so learning which message means which event will give you a few extra seconds to prepare yourself to defend each raid event will last specified duration some only last 80 seconds while others can last up to 150 seconds and in order for this timer to tick down you or another player in that world must be inside the active road area that's this red circle on your map being outside this area will pause the timer but as soon as you or another player re-enters the area the timer will resume in each of these raid events hostile creatures will spawn between 40 and 80 meters of the player each raid event has its own unique suite of enemies for you to take on these creatures will spawn in hunt mode which means that they will know the player's location within 200 meters lucky for you these hostiles are unlikely to spawn within your base as certain items known as base structures will prevent creatures from spawning within 20 meters of them if you kill one of these form creatures during the duration of the raid another will spawn after a short interval again between 40 and 80 meters of the player this spawning interval varies from creature to creature but can be as fast as two seconds or as long as 20 seconds thankfully one thing you don't have to worry about during raids are one or two star enemies showing up as these more powerful forms won't spawn during raid events once the raid is over the spawn creatures will begin to run away and once they've de-egg road they should despawn however i've noticed certain raid spawns quite notorious for hanging around nearby and decimating the local wildlife so perhaps with some of the enemies it's worth doing a good sweep around your base after a raid has ended as i mentioned earlier there is a 20 chance of an active road event occurring every 46 minutes that's the equivalent of one and a half full in-game day night cycles if you're playing with friends each of you can activate a raid so if you're unlucky with the odds it's possible for several of you to trigger raid events in relatively quick succession you're joking not another one if a raid is triggered one of the raid events in your active pool will be randomly selected but depending on where you are in the game progression wise and other factors like where your character is in the world your pool of active road events will drastically differ most of the time while you're just out and about exploring or resource gathering your active raid pool will likely be empty your active raid pool depends on three factors the first of these factors is which bosses have been defeated in the world you're in with each new forsaken vanquished certain raid events will be activated or deactivated it's important to note that this is based on the progression of the world not the progression of your character so if you start your game in a friend's world where some or all of the bosses have already been defeated remember that far more advanced raid events will be sent your way the second factor is where your character is when the 46th minute ticks over and a raid is triggered this includes both which biome you're in and also whether you're near your base all of the raid events except the one which we'll get onto later will only become activated if you are within 40 meters of at least three base structures there are currently 25 eligible base structures in the game including things like the campfire workbench portal and bed so even if you're being rather nomadic having just a few of these items may enable a number of different road events raids also cannot occur if you're in any of the dungeons so at least while you're in the burial chambers troll caves sunken crypts or frost caves you're safe well from raids at least the last factor only applies to a few of the non-army raids and that's whether you've killed specific non-bus enemies some raids will only become activated if a specific creature in your world has been killed at some point interestingly you or another player doesn't even have to be the cause of death if one of these eligible creatures is killed by the environment or even by another creature from a neighboring biome for example it doesn't matter their buddies are going to take their revenge out on you now i'll go through each of the 11 road events in the order you're perhaps likely to encounter them so feel free to use the time stamps to skip around to the raid event you want to find out about or avoid others that you don't want to be spoiled the first raid event you're likely to encounter is ikethia's army this event is active from the very start of the game and will only become disabled after you've defeated the first boss ike there for this army to be sent your way you'll also need to be within 40 liters of at least three base structures within the meadows or black forest biome but you're unlikely to be anywhere else this early on the raid only lasts for 90 seconds and the creatures that will be sent your way will be two boars and two necks pretty easy to take on even at a low level in fact this event can actually be quite useful early on as a way to get some meat and leather scraps which you can use to craft the crude bow after defeating ikea the elders army will become the active raid event these raids will last a little longer this time at 120 seconds and can only occur near base items in either the meadows black forest swamp or plains the elder will send in four grayling sixth gray dwarf one grade of shaman and one grade off route at a time to attack you but nothing you can't handle i'm sure a good tip if you're struggling is to prioritize taking out the shaman as these enemies will act as a healer for the other grey dwarf and also deal poison damage to you over time it's also worth mentioning that the respawn rates for these enemies is pretty fast only five seconds so make sure you're ready for these waves of grey dwarfs this event will leave your raid pool once you've defeated the elder of the black forest but with that a couple of new raids will enter your pool of available events at this stage of the game you'll want to invest some time into increasing your bases defenses try digging a moat or at the very least putting up a perimeter wall if you want to protect your base and tamed animals once you've started to collect scrap iron and produce iron ingots you'll be able to make a stone cutter and build the strongest stone walls which are 50 more durable than stake walls the first new raid we'll talk about is the third boss bone masses army which is made up of some of the creatures you'll find in the swamp biome bone masses army is one of only four raids available in the mountain biome but it can also be active in the meadows black forest swamp or plains as long as you're near three or more base items for this raid bone mass will send three drauga and six skeletons your way this raid lasts 150 seconds which is as long as raid events get on top of that the creatures from this raid will respawn after only 5 seconds so make sure you have enough stamina to survive the successive waves as drauga can hit pretty hard you'll also notice this raid will cause it to start raining which will give you the wet effect if you head outside reducing your health regeneration by 25 and stamina regeneration by 15 not ideal another raid that can be enabled by defeating the elder is the grounded shaking troll event this will likely be the first non-army raid you encounter and is activated when your character is within 40 meters of at least three base structures in either the meadows black forest swamp or plains and also if a troll has died in that world in this event two trolls come to avenge their slaughtered troll friend these enemies can cause some serious damage to your defenses so you'll want to try and draw the trolls away from your base if possible as this is a non-army raid it cannot be deactivated so as long as you're near your base this raid will remain in your active pool for the rest of the game defeating the third boss bone mass will open up six new possible raid events to you giving you a possible pool of up to seven raid events one of these is of course the fourth boss moda's army just like bone masses army this event will last for 150 seconds and is also active within the meadows black forest swamp plains or mountain bride for this raid you'll need to prepare both your base and yourself moda will send three drakes to attack you and will also create a snowstorm which will give you the freezing effect freezing does one damage per second but also reduces your health regeneration by 100 and stamina regeneration by 60 which will be pretty crippling while trying to defend your base the freezing effects can be resisted by being under a shelter or within range of a heat source but given the situation drinking a frost resistant mead or wearing either the wolf armor chest wolf fur cape or lox cape will be more appropriate unfortunately for your base and its inhabitants drakes fly so wall defenses and raised bases will be less effective here than they might have been against other roads to protect your tamed animals you might want to add a roof to their enclosure shooting down the drakes with a bow is probably the easiest way to take them down and as drake's take 50 more damage from fire attacks using fire arrows will be extremely effective once you've defeated moda this event will be removed from the pool of possible raids the next raid attack will be heralded by the same foul swamp smell message as bone masses army this event lasts for 120 seconds and can take place near three or more base items in the meadows black forest swamp or plains this time the swampy raiders will be made up of five blobs and two losers although remember that on death oozes will split into two blobs both blobs and users attack by releasing poisonous gases that will give you the poison effect and do some significant damage over time to reduce this you can increase your armor score or drink a poison resistance mead at the start of the raid this raid will also cause it to start raining so be aware that the wet effect will reduce your stat regeneration during this road event you'll have the opportunity to get some pretty good drops oozes have 33 chance of dropping scrap iron and both blobs and oozes will drop ooze which you can use to craft boys and arrows ooze bombs and the surprisingly delicious looking mug shakes blobs and users are weak to blunt and frost damage so clubs like the frostner will be particularly effective at taking them on but if you're not really feeling like taking on these invaders today there is another solution as the blobs and users don't do any physical damage they won't be able to damage your walls or buildings so if you wanted you could just shut the door have a nice cold mead and wait for all of this to blow over well yes but do remember that blobs can jump pretty high about 3 meters or so and while the blobs and users may not be able to get through your walls and doors the poisonous gases that they release very much can so make sure that you keep your tamed animals away from perimeter walls if you don't want them to meet a stinky end next up is the skeleton surprise ride this also lasts for 120 seconds and can occur at your base in either the meadows black forest swamp plains and also the mistlines oddly as the name suggests the hostile creatures sent in this raid are skeletons 20 of them along with one rancid remains which is just a bigger hitting skelly that also does poison damage unlike the skeletons the lone ranks of remains doesn't have a 100 chance of spawning immediately instead only having a 54 chance of spawning every 15 seconds up to its maximum spawn limit both of these creatures are weak to blunt damage so get your club or mace out and you'll make short work at them the sheer number of skeletons in this raid also makes it great for grinding your blocking scale just walk backwards with your shield blocking the groove and route the rewards you can continue doing this for as long as you want as they won't despawn until after they've fully de-aggroed like the troll event this next raid additionally requires the creature in question to have been killed at some point on that world the hostile creatures we're talking about here are circlings which you can normally find in the swamps around these fire geeses as mentioned earlier you don't have to be the reason that certainly died for its buddies to come after you and given that certainly implode on contact with water and live in a swamp full of water this isn't too unlikely this road can occur at your base within the meadows black forest swamp or plains by him up to four settlings at a time will be sent during this event and you'll also notice the sky turned to a scary looking but harmless ash rain these circlings actually have some pretty good drops which may make the raid worth your time each will drop 4 coal and also have a 50 chance of dropping circling cores which you can then use to build more furnaces smelters portals and other useful stuff circling are pretty weak having only 20 hp the same as grayling but can be quite quick and hard to target make sure to try and dodge their fireball attacks as these can give you the bernie effect which will do damage for five seconds the newest event at time of recording is the euster the cauldron raid despite the name this event isn't some minor kitchen injury and has nothing to do with your cauldron in this event ten bats will be sent to attack you like the circling and troll events you'll need to have killed a bat in that world for this event to become active you'll find bats in the new frost caves found throughout the mountains this raid lasts for 120 seconds and is the only event currently that can occur in any biome although you do still need to be close to at least three base items these bats can actually be quite annoying and will fly over your walls and even into your buildings if doors or windows have been left open bats will also absolutely decimate your tamed balls so it might be worth protecting your two star boys at least inside a barn and given that bats will only drop leather scraps you're not going to get much of a reward for your troubles we're finally on to the only raid currently in the game that doesn't attack you near base items in fact you'll only get this raid if your character is out and about exploring either the plains or mountain biome during this event six wolves will be sent to hunt you down pretty scary right to add to this the interval between you killing a wolf and a new one respawning is only two seconds leading to 120 seconds of pretty continuous wolf waves each wolf will drop some meat and a wolf pelt and also has a 40 chance of dropping a wolf fang which can be used to craft the best beer currently in the game the fangspear wolves aren't weak to anything and it's very easy to become overwhelmed by their numbers so it might be best to try and jump out of reach of the wolves and switch to range attacks to take them down and just to note your own tamed good dog ears will not help you out here at all so i guess we know where their loyalties really lie the last raid event we're going to talk about is jagloo sami activated by defeating the fourth boss motor this event lasts for 120 seconds and can occur if you're near three or more base items in either the meadows black forest or plains by him as part of this attack jagliff will send eight fuelling two fueling berserker and one fueling shaman however unlike most other roads these creatures don't have a 100 chance of spawning immediately fueling have a 58.2 chance of spawning every 10 seconds while the berserker and shaman have a lower 47 chance of spawning every 20 seconds so this will likely mean the horde will spawn at a much more staggered pace than hostile creatures from other raid events fueling and their counterparts do not have any weaknesses so good base defenses will come in handy for this more difficult raid you will at least be able to get some pretty good drops during this event as each of these creatures will drop black metal scraps when they're killed which can then be smelted down into some of the best weapons currently in the game and that's all of the raid events we have in the game so far hopefully the upcoming muslims update will give us a new forsaken boss and with that at least one new army raid to contend with i'll make sure to do an update if that happens or if there are any other new words
