The arrival of Wanderer has definitely caused
a lot of discussions within the playerbase and there’s few important things that need
to be addressed in this video. But first a quick word from today’s sponsor. This video is sponsored by Project Mecha Doge! A new casual RPG set in world where only animals
exist! In this hack and slash game, play alone or
join up with friends to fight for the doggies who lost their freedom against the violent
cats. And of course, what’s a game without a catch,
right? Well in this game, your doggie will take control
of a powerful mecha suit while going through roguelike levels – pick up tons of different
powers ups and become stronger by upgrading the mecha. You definitely want to become stronger if
you want to defeat these crazy cats. But the best part is that you can play this
game together with your friends online – bring back the freedom from these clearly evil and
not cute kitty cats by joining up with your buddies. And you can download this game right now by
using my link in the description, this will help support my channel A LOT thanks to your
help. So, make sure to check out Project Mecha Doge
NOW! So after some time had passed since the Wanderer’s
banner release, it seems like a lot of surprising things have been revealed not just about him
but also provided a deeper insight about ourselves as a community. I mean, to put it simply – the majority
of players can agree that Scaramouche offers amazing open-world experience with the whole
hovering mechanic but at the same time – it’s pretty clear he has some problems inside the
Abyss. And naturally, you would think – since he
seems like a non-meta unit or at least not up there with the big meta units, that means
the Chinese community, which make up the majority of Genshin’s revenue and who supposedly
focuses on the meta, simply won’t roll for him, right? And to add insult to injury – the Fandango
boy showed up right after Nahida’s banner, I mean there was Layla in-between but regardless
– these two major things should mean his banner sales were a flop, right? Well, not really… As of making this video, it has been exactly
1 week since the Wanderer got released and the banner sales in China show that he is
actually in top 5 banners of all time. That’s pretty crazy if you ask me and obviously,
we still have 2 more weeks to see the final results and who knows maybe the sales will
drop off but the most important takeaway here is that this guy is definitely popular. And the thing is – why is this even surprising
to us? Those of us who started as early as 1.1 got
to meet Scaramouche and even till this day I remember how a lot of people in my comments
section told me they are already saving up for him. But you know, at the time it was unclear if
he will become playable, especially after what happened with Signora, however, after
the rumors started to spread he is gonna join the Traveler, it’s pretty clear those who
were obsessed with obtaining him, we’re already preparing for this moment. I mean, just to be sure about this, I actually
asked you guys earlier if you were saving up for him and surprisingly – yeah, almost
1/3 of you set some Primogems aside for him and I personally think that’s a lot of players. But… I mean we’re talking about people who are
saving up primogems – Hoyoverse aren’t making a dime from this and to reach top 5
banner sales, people need to spend actual real money, so the claim that this banner
is simply popular and profitable because of players were saving up for him in advance,
makes very little sense, unless you know, they pull for as many copies as they can and
then top off with actual money to get to a certain constellation level or pull for his
weapon, which I would agree that would make more sense. Now there is also another big thing that came
up – I see a lot of people on social media stating that the reason why Scaramouche banner
is doing so well has to do with Faruzan. Now, if you haven’t seen my video about
this new 4-star Anemo support, basically she’s like the new Gorou but for Anemo element,
so Xiao, Heizou and, of course, Wanderer can get some good damage buffs from Faruzan. However, the big thing about her is that at
C0, she’s fine for beating regular world mobs and boosting the numbers for Anemo damage
dealers but once you unlock her final constellation, she just becomes a completely different character. Not only does she go from basically an energy-hungry
character to a full-on powered battery for Anemo but now Anemo characters also gain this
small but pretty cool crowd control every once in a while when Faruzan’s burst is
deployed and on top of this – Anemo Crit Damage is boosted by 40%. I mean, if I was a diehard Xiao main, hearing
all about this would make me wanna pull the trigger and just get C6 Faruzan. And this is actually a narrative I’ve seen
talked about on social media – people who love Xiao or Heizou or Wanderer – getting
C6 Faruzan gives a huge boost to these guys and some people believe this could have contributed
a lot to Wanderer’s banner sales. Now is that true? Well, unfortunately nobody besides Hoyoverse
analytics team knows about this – so I cannot deny or agree with this rumor. Personally, when it comes to Wanderer’s
banner sales, I think a mix of everything influenced the revenue – the fact that he
is a character with a lot of lore behind him, he was there almost since the game’s beginning,
he has a cool mechanic nobody else can offer and sure, a 4-star that’s dedicated to boosting
Anemo damage, who becomes super ridiculous at C6 – could have influenced the sales
as well. But I think just talking about money is kinda
boring – I am sure you don’t think about this when pulling for a character, so let’s
move on to something I believe a lot of Wanderer players don’t talk about too often. So I think we can all agree having the ability
to fly around is pretty insane. Obviously, its extremely limiting, you cannot
ascend as you are moving forward, so there are some constraints but at the end of the
day – he can fly. And he has some of the coolest attack animations. And… maybe that’s enough for the majority
of Genshin’s playerbase? I mean, don’t get me wrong – in my own
video where I reviewed the Wanderer’s personal damage I thought it was pretty decent – you
can in fact boost his damage up by quite a lot if you combine both Benny and Faruzan,
he is kind of a beast when Widsith passive is activated and even though he lacks crowd
control, plugging in Venti or Kazuha into the team actually lets him demolish enemies
with his constant charged attack spam. By all means – he is a good unit but the
current Abyss cycle, which is ironically as of making this video is about to end, it really
didn’t do him any favors because both sides kinda had some really annoying enemies to
go up against. And sure, I could go on all day about how
much it sucks that he doesn’t have any kind of resistance to interruption when he is hovering
and how you need to bring a shielder or waste the hover bar and DPS to dodge enemy attacks
but I think one thing that hasn’t really been talked about is the role that he performs. Basically, Wanderer is a hypercarry, meaning
a team needs to be built around him to fully realize his damage. I mean just try doing the Abyss without giving
him any buffs in a team like Tazer – you’re better off using Sucrose who will boost Elemental
Mastery, Elemental Damage if you have her at C6 and most importantly – she will provide
crowd control and enable Tazer’s full potential. It’s basically Heizou vs Sucrose situation
all over again, although Heizou at least has some kind of crowd control and he also boosts
other party member’s EM by 80 after using his burst – but Wanderer? Nope, everything, every single talent, passive
and constellation – they are there to strictly boost his own performance. And then you build teams like Zhongli, Benny
and Faruzan – two damage boosters and shielder, just so he can be the hypercarry for the team. I mean, just by doing his trial this should
become clear enough when you see how much field time he takes when he enters the hovering
mode. Point is – everything that’s designed
about him let’s players truly feel in control of him. I mean think about how many characters get
released and how many of them have really cool Normal Attacks or just great animations
in general and a lot of the time, you just swap into them, quickly do the skill and burst
and swap out. With Wanderer and other hypercarries, like
Cyno, Yoimiya or Eula – you get to feel like you’re playing the characters. And the thing is – in terms of meta, it’s
not often hypercarries are considered as top priority for building your account roster
because they aren’t that flexible but in terms of gameplay – people who love this
type of character get to enjoy them as they are intended. So I think it makes a lot of sense that Hoyoverse
chose to make Wanderer a hypercarry. He was highly anticipated by many and now
you get to play with him a lot – you don’t just swap in for a few seconds and be done
with this guy, no, instead you build a team around him and go ham. And this is something that a lot of Wanderer
players enjoy, myself included. I think one last thing worth mentioning would
be the state of Genshin. I am not gonna lie – I don’t play Genshin
religiously every day, not anymore, I used to but now I am at a point where I have enough
resources, experience and knowledge to pretty much solve the game as any new content is
released. And I get the feeling I am not alone here
– many veterans or even long-time players, you guys probably feel the same, right? Sure, we can keep on grinding those artifacts
but the hardest challenge is still the Spiral Abyss. And the funny thing is – if you’re somebody
who has a strong account, you can easily use the Wanderer and clear the whole thing with
36 stars, no problem, even if this cycle is really bad for him. And so while there are some concerns about
Wanderer’s performance, his banner doing is really well as the data shows, so it’s
clear that a lot of people wanted to obtain him, just because of how involved he was in
the game’s story and it also very likely helped, his whole gameplay design is to build
him as a hypercarry, so that you can truly experience his playstyle. Oh and of course, there’s flying as well. I think this is an important lesson for me
as a content creator as well, that it’s not always the numbers that matter or even
the problems that arise from using the characters and although I think I did kind of use this
approach in my review video, I am definitely gonna try and focus more on the other aspects,
because I truly want to provide the best insights for you guys. Anyway, thanks for watching this video, I
hope you enjoyed it and I’d appreciate if you could press the like button and subscribe
to my channel. I actually just had a surgery recently so
I didn’t have time to dive in to TCG mode of the game but I promise more videos are
coming soon. Thanks for watching and see you in the next
video.
