EDC huge Topic in the 2A space tactical space What are you carrying these days uh I carry a uh a Glock 43x MOS gen 5. so with a uh you know Red Dot side it's a Holocene um you're carrying a red dot sight yeah are you guys carrying those overseas now oh yeah they're you think they're reliable 100 I mean like with any piece of equipment any variable you had to uh a life-saving piece of equipment any variable you're adding to it whether it's ammo magazines sites like understanding the capabilities of that and just respecting it the fact that it's a it's a window that's glass and projects a DOT it it it helps you be more um like from a processing perspective like you you can pick up on that quicker in any lighting conditions yeah than a front sight rear sight Target like presentation you have a dot Target bang all right so to me like I've used it in combat I've used it in a passive under night vision or um and and I've trained with it so much that it's its own sight like it like even if the Dot's off you can use that to frame a Target in the window yeah so a human size Target if you know elevation right I'm going to hold Center but uh like the gaps between you know the left and right the windage like if I understand at whatever distances it's presenting an image like well it's even left and right so if it's off I can comfortably take that shot even if the Dot's off or broken I get I'm I've been I used to be in the Tactical space I'm not anymore and I was always I [ __ ] all over those red dots because on pistols because when I was in it was they were always running out of batteries or they couldn't handle you know the shock and they would just they think they'd come a long way yeah so like and when when I first got to the unit I you know we trained on iron sights the whole time um in our training course but you know when I got to Squadron it was like there was these there was a couple sites floating around and not everybody was using them but I got my hands on a doctor site and the glass on that thing was was really good um and then I think there was like two other two other variations but it was like a plastic film on the the the the the the window or the the site itself so it with blowback and with everything over time it just started just eating and corroding and then it just you can't even see through it so Dave came a really long way like what sites do you recommend then but the biggest part was that you had to like take the site off and then to switch the battery out and and then you're having to go and reconfirm zero and all these other things but uh right now it's like there's so many different options I mean I I've used the loophole Delta Point Pro and like NV since they came out like I think we started using them before they became like a real big thing and that's what I've ran in combat that's what I've ran on my like you know my uh overt more kind of configuration guns my um uh whether it's I'm shooting a Glock 17 at like 34 or a Sig 320 axg Pro they have a Delta Point Pro on them so minus the micros right so this the the thinner frame slides there's only a couple options um for the micro dots but um yeah I mean I I all day I mean it's a light and a dot yeah so I didn't like so the tlr7 sub that's on that the ability to you know that's your light laser yeah it's just a light I think yeah that one's just a light the TR6 either way that one actually with the Gen 5 you can attach to the the rail that's on the bottom of the frame for the newer ones the older like Gen 4 like Glock 43x or 48 which is the slim 19 yeah like I have I use those as well but you have to use the trigger bar guard light laser combo which is and crack head plates at 10 yards with that thing with uh with a laser but you know for for a compact pistol like sub yeah that hands down because I mess around with the Glock 26 the double stack stuff and yeah for years but I mean these hands dude like and then you're adding extra extensions on magazines you're creating more variables you're introducing more more variables into it that are like that's why I really like the 10 plus one that you get from the 43x you know slim stack and they have other mags you can you can get more rounds in and um and then to be honest like in an everyday care situation like ten plus one plus an extra mag that I you know with tenacore uh I love their their everyday carry product their holsters and their zero belt and um is awesome like and they're a great company um but the most comfortable other like holster sitting or running around um it just it's it's where it needs to be when it needs to be there yeah and that's the biggest thing I'd say for anyone that is you know choosing to to carry or the right to bear arms and to protect what they care about themselves and what they care about like for one it's not a game this is the this is like if this is all the consequences of not paying it and giving it the appropriate amount of like respect it's about respect not not necessarily fear like people fear Firearms people fear this or that and it's it's just respecting it for what it's capable of but it's not capable of that without you what why do you choose a nine millimeter um I think I think costs like weight it's it's a it's a balance between we switched we we were we used to shoot 40 cal like for a long time when we switched from 45 to our next service gun or whatever we went with Glock 22 and 40 cal because of all the lethal or the ballistics testing that the FBI and everybody would do as far as lethality of the calibers but we transitioned to nine mil I say the former we transition to 9 mil like purely because well two two parts The lethality difference is not that much and the cost benefit the saving millions millions of dollars we saved and just switching to 9 mil that we could apply into other parts of our budget so interesting like for me it's the same principles um and it only takes one well-placed shot yeah to drop somebody flat so like that's just that is just what it is I mean would you ever move down to a 38. no yeah me neither no what else do you carry um do you carry any medical do you carry any cash yeah any anything yeah so uh a multi-tool so the Leatherman skeletal tool is like my favorite bit of Kit as far as like a pocket knife that that doesn't it's not bulgy I can carry it every day it doesn't look like obnoxious for me it's like I don't carrying things aren't for everyone else they're for me and for like when I need them they need to be there they're not to a show of force or a show of it's not a showing showing off you know it's so when I look at things they have to be they have to fit my lifestyle you know and and I sh the kit ShakeOut piece is huge kso trademark um kitchen blueberry um it's there's all kinds of like great things and kit and this and Technic techniques but give him a rung man and they got if they don't pass that upside down test or you know the common sense test like it's just a maybe it's just snake oil yeah I think there's a lot of snake oil in there a lot of snakes yes they get some interesting products coming out yeah what um what do you carry into medical or do you keep that in an EDC bag or uh it's so I have my my vehicle like truck bag and then I have like a bit of of just a a tourniquet that's actually also pruset handcuffs no [ __ ] yeah I want to detain someone I can yeah where I can use it as a tourniquet too if you get a little frisky in the restaurant want to tie it away sir you're gonna need to sit down what what do you think what do you no a tourniquet pressure bandage and um uh some sort of um like uh gauze thank you and you got that on your person or on your bag that'll be on my I always have a little man purse and so it's like a small three three item kit um but on my person would be my pistol gun light extra mag and then whatever else I can put on on me so like this and um but I don't put things around my ankles or you know like there's a massive difference between paranoia and preparation yeah like massive and I used to like dance the line between knowing what it feels like what it feels like to be paranoid in a room where like when I can't have my back to a door or whatever so a lot of that was exposure therapy and things like that but to now it's not paranoia it's just preparation you know that's what I'm in charge of you know what do you think what do you think the biggest mistake that people make when it comes to their everyday carriers that actually carries yeah so I think it's well there's two parts to that I think they need to have a lot of people well everyone that carries a gun needs to have a conversation with themselves in their higher power on like why are they carrying it like truly why and if the answer isn't like you're gonna if you haven't had that conversation with yourself about like if I take someone else's life with this like am I going to be okay with that because you can just say I use it to protect what I care about but if you think that you're just gonna wing or injure someone that's trying to kill you yeah like and then talk them down off the edge and de-escalate like you got another thing coming man and you moral injury is a real thing and we're not put on this Earth to kill each other we weren't but we've been doing it for thousands of years yeah so having that conversation and it's you got to have like work through it I'm not saying obsess about taking another life it's just giving it the energy that it needs and respecting the fact that if you do you're going to wear that on your soul for the rest of your life and even if it was like especially either way if it was negligence then you're probably a sociopath anyways but it even if it was the right thing to do you know it's still gonna it's gonna you're going to wear it and yeah you know how that manifests in your life is is for you but um it's it's a very intimate thing an intimate process and I I challenge people that are buying guns and carrying them like two things have that conversation with yourself and it's not for you don't have to like answer the question to other people it's for you and God and secondly like have rehearsed dry firing through like the different considerations with the configurations like it draws like all the different clothing like you need to reduce the amount like jackets you need to have rehearsed all of these things from a bag right where they're safe um but they're there when you need them to be there and you know how to get to them and then how to employ them you know and you you do that and you reduce the amount of time by reversing it you know so because critical decision making isn't one of the things you can do very well and fight fire freeze yeah and that's not like you will be in Fight Fire freeze when when you're presented with a deadly deadly force encounter or like like I tell people this like if I take my gun out my everyday carry again I'm killing someone like it's not it's not there for me to de-escalate I'll have worked through all the different things and gotten out of that scenario well before I have made the decision to pull it out but that's for me like I I know that what a true risk to life is and and how to mitigate those and how to make navigate um and deflect and and get the heck out of there you know yeah um a lot of it's what's all about awareness like being where your feet are and bringing yourself you know it's it's floating off and thinking about thing daydreaming that's that's normal but um and then hyper vigilance is also like not normal to be always like on guard you know and I know what that feels like too yeah um it's a balance between preparation and paranoia right and you just need to know that like train and train is everywhere you don't have to pay somebody thousands of dollars to to say the things I'm saying it's there for you to do them like it you're buying this kit this holster this belt this uh bag you're a tire like the different types of dress you know like work through all the little nuances of of where you know where things can get like hung up because when they do or when it happens Murphy's always out there yeah you know so um you just want to have done it done it enough to where you can just work through it what do you tell people who are beginners they're beginners do you train beginners what do you tell people that are beginners a lot of beginners a lot of women especially they don't like carrying one in the pipe what do you tell them well I tell you that that's a dead man's gun yeah just flat out like I'm I consider myself pretty fast when it comes to you know pistol and Firearms you know handling and stuff but I'm never going to be faster than terminal velocity and like terminal ballistics not velocity and like for me to be able to think that I can draw it rack the slide and then shoot you an amount the amount of time that's presented to me and I can't you can't predict this but for me I know there's not much time once once that I've made the decision to use lethal Force there isn't much time like it's just not um so I want it to just be there and the Glocks and the the the Epistles I use are like they're safe they're not going to shoot themselves like you have to you have to protect the trigger trigger as long as the the trigger is protected that you're drawing from and that that's a clear draw then it is a safe you know safe gun yeah until you squeeze it squeeze that trigger and you can't get that round back so no no once you know what's in front of that and beyond your Target and account for every shot you take this is a good conversation to have right now at this point in time I want to continue this over on my patreon but let's let's get into let's what do you think the best home defense weapon setup is
