Hello everybody, welcome to Tokyo Creative PLAY I'm your host Emma, and today I'm here with Shiori and Natasha But, today Shiori is Shiori Sensei! We're going to be doing a quiz! and it's kind of a little bit of a challenge for me and Natasha We're going to see who is the BEST at guessing onomatopoeia Japanese onomatopoeia! Not English! That's not the kind of channel we are so, Shiori is going to be giving us Japanese words/ onomatopoeias and we're gonna guess the meaning of them You said that you're finding some that were a little more Mezarashii a little bit more rare... So, that's a little worrying- I'm gonna.. try my best Yeah, but we'll just do our best! So far, out of all our challenges on the channel Emma is winning It's 2:1 now - Okay, -Okay! Ganbatte! (You can do it) - I will - Ikuyo! (Let's go!) It's ganbare to me too man, y'know NO - Ganbare! - Thank you! That's a fake ganbare... We have more than 2,000 onomatopoeia in the Japanese vocabulary Really? But I think that only 600~700 are useful, or more are actually used in conversations but they have so many different explanations Today I've picked out some phrases that could be useful But you guys have probably not heard of before Probably Okay, so let's try.. Number 1! Kiri kiri Giri giri or kiri kiri? I've never heard of this to be fair I'm probably not going to have heard like ... a lot of these - Thinking time! Uh, maybe I should be a bit more emotional That's not emotional what do you mean... say that again? Aww man, mine's wrong then I'm not confident Me neither, No idea You can't really read my handwriting, sorry it's detailed... Emma what's that? Originally, you said kirikiri and I was like Oh maybe it's like when you cut something and it's like kiri kiri kiri kiri But then I'm like, what if you're like sad and disappointed because your happiness was CUT So I combined the first and the second one you're laughing so I'm assuming that that is incorrect my initial answer was actually when it's cold, and you're shivering so it's like kiri kiri or something But then, she did like *kiri kiri* So maybe it's like when your stomach is a little "oof-y" -ooh kiri kiri -Yeah! something like that... the answer is.. -Natasha! -really? you're right! you're kidding! -Are you serious? -I had no idea dude... what?? that's so specific yeah it's so specific, Usually we say "i ga kirikiri suru" "i" is the stomach -Oh it's the stomach?? -Yeah, the organ right *whisper: omg* I'm a genius... It's more like when you say that.. That's- HOW DID YOU GET THAT? That's the most specific thing.. I'm amazed. My acting was good then!! maybe! Let me explain that, For this one, when you say "I have a stomach ache" maybe you guys are saying general area? but this phrase is for the specific organ When you're really under some kind of pressure for example, before a performance Ah, it's like an uncomfortable feeling maybe Yeah, and then you feel like, oh.. something big is coming up so my stomach doesn't feel comfortable... -Okay -Yeah You're amazing! You deserve to win today -just from that -just from this?? just from that, seriously oh thank you Emma NUMBER 2 Tsuru tsuru Everything sounds the same I know Are you gonna put your acting into use again? no idea... you already? ah- Yeah it could be a drawing the situation I'm having a mind blank of what it could possibly be what does that face mean :( what's that!! you guys are so creative Don't do that because now I know I'm incorrect! it's a very detailed drawing You've really never heard of these before? I've never heard of this.. -wow -That's a good guess -What is this? -Jiggly pudding -Pudding! Like when the jelly is moving its like Mine is, if you go fishing and the fish is on the line like- I feel like it would be like But you actually know that "Tsuri = fishing" right? Yeah Tsuri is fishing! Oh Emma, you're guessing it in such a logical way Yeah but I feel like that's the wrong way to go about this -Nice drawing though -Oh, thank you! Which one of us is right? none of you guys! Tsuru Tsuru means that the surface is clean and smooth no bumps, basically So it could be like a pudding texture can you guess the onomatopoeia for jiggly pudding? -Yeah! puru puru! Yeah 'cause I was like, that looks more like a "pu" looks more like a pU some things really sound like the onomatopoeia but some things, I just can't make a connection I see, but uh I'm not sure if this is OK to say but when you see the bald people a bald person If the person doesn't have any hair the surface is so clean and nice right?; In Japan, if I meet a bald guy and I touch his head... am I allowed to say "ah... Tsuru Tsuru!" or is that SUPER rude? I think it's super rude to touch someone's head what if he's like "hey man..." go ahead! touch my bald head.. yeah! that's ok it's OK if I have permission to touch the head? and maybe, when you eat Udon (thick Japanese noodles) it's also Tsuru tsuru -It's really smooth right -Yeah, 'cause it's smooth NUMBER 3 how's the feeling though? -I don't get a feeling from dabodabo -Right?? Yeah yeah! Usually you get a feeling like it's a solid or a liquid or something -but this one -yeah like puru puru! your thing is dabo dabo, Emma! Thank you! so much! for that... compliment I hope? don't cheat! don't cheat I give up, I have no idea Mine's expensive looking, like double double the price it usually is (Emma.............) so you said 'solid' with a sad face "your ___ is so solid" ??? I've been using 'solid' a lot as a descriptive.. like OOH that's a solid compliment OOH your makeup today is really solid your compliment to me was solid yeah something like that! I don't know :)))) the real answer is Too big! -Too big? -Too big for you for example, "your jacket is dabo dabo" this (shirt) is kinda to big for me? that's why I said I'm not sure double double the size... I'm sure it's not that but that's a good way to remember it yours is a little bit dabo dabo if you.. oh yeah yeah Natasha always have different kinds of clothes so sometimes you're dabo dabo looking.. I'M DABO DABO LOOKING? so the score is still 1-0 1-0 from that super lucky first try hey hey, I knew that. NUMBER 4 I feel like there's too straightforward an answer yeah.. I was like "OH YEAH! BOING BOING!" But, is she tricking us? is the question. OK that's not what you'd say about a trampoline... yeah it sounds too obvious right? I'll just go with the obvious answer you're going with the obvious one? yeah I'll try it is SOMEONE boing boing? yeah, but I don't think Tokyo Creative people are boingboing unfortunately I feel like this is refreshing because I've never heard of any of these before -Yeah, yeah -Maybe we need to use them more in real life it'd be fun to use this more in real life I wanna be like "Oh, that desk?" "So Tsuru Tsuru!" This one can be a person, an object could be the... parts? could be WHAT? oh, there she goes I know you can draw y'know Emma! It's boing boing... Maybe the sentence could be Oh that's accurate for my answer yeah it is! You shouldn't even have seen my answer, Emma you and your sneaky lil eyes I couldn't help it -With what you were drawing -It's so big y'know SO BIG you asked me to draw MORE right? oh yeah sorry what is this? boobs yeah like this- boing boing I was going to say genki and young -bounce back from anything -but that's so sad 'cause I was thinking oh no one at TC is genki? Yeah so I'm think 'this is wrong..' thats why I said genki and young like maybe BABY young is my answer correct? actually? actually? boobs always win what do you mean though, if an object can be boing boing the object is the boobs-san what? excuse me? the object is the boobs? that's why I said 'parts' y'know I thought you meant like automobile parts she definitely meant body parts the object messed me up now everyone knows that no one is TC is boing boing :( I think "boing boing" means the same in English -oh really? -yeah we could look at a pair of boobs and be like "Ah, boing boing!" I mean no one would say that NO ONE no one would ever say that -But it makes sense -Oh, hmm you got a good pair of boing boings no, I'd be like "argh no don't tell me that" ok, 2 points to Natasha oh Emma, killin' it. NUMBER 5 noro noro there is one animal that's famous for 'Noro Noro' you saw it? sorry, I saw Emma's drawing -We go the same answer! -Oh That's why I didn't draw it... I have confidence that we're both right you guys are right I finally got one right! If I were to give an example, maybe the mum could be saying "Noro Noro suruna!" to the kids sounds like my mum, although not Japanese could shout that at me NUMBER 6 kara kara I know a K-pop group called KARA Oh yeah! but times two, kara kara Times two? Just times two of them I think this might happen once a day Ah, no no! once a day? once a summer? 10 times a summer... In summer? OK say that again and let me have a look at your face feels like dying? kinda like when you're so hot and tired and thirsty you're just like - my soul has escaped me kinda feeling OK mine's kinda similar with the thirsty But I feel like it's just like the driest throat ever like almost spicy dry throat Emma wins the point! I think Natasha also included thirsty in her answer but specifically Kara kara is for.. OK let's give it to Emma then yay! yeah it sounds like Kawaita! yeah yeah yeah! but it's to the point of it being really really dry 10 times a summer... It might be dehydration so you need to drink more water Please drink more water and stay hydrated stay hydrated everybody so that's why I said, it shouldn't happen yeah, so you won! -Yay! -Natasha's the winner I'd just like to think that I'm an in-tin-srnirngkri one more time! I'd just like to think that I'm an intellect... y'know? OK but that means that we're now -on the same page -on equal playing ground -yeah there's a new ice cream place that I want to go to so I'll treat you to ice cream' oh nice! I didn't even ask for it -There wasn't even gonna be a prize -AWWW EMMA OK I'm ready to challenge you again oh you want me to get you more ice cream? no! so y'know we can like decides who wins or loses OK OK -Thank you Shiori sensei! -How was the onomatope? It was fun! I've always known the typical easy ones What's your favorite one usually? I like puri puri! the one that describes your butt I like boing boing now it's my favorite let's try to be boing boing together!! How do we try? Unless we get surgery big yikes -Pull together some money -Pull together the money!! If anybody wants to help us achieve our boing boing dreams 10k each so 30k altogether o NO thanks for teaching us today, Shiori it's been great.
