[Music] welcome to a proper and fun cheerful truck drag racing's gonna be a huge one that's right we've got gas versus diesel we got big v8 vs smaller v8s we've got a v6 diesel versus a straight-6 diesel and you're gonna see it right now we're gonna do it as a bracket race first up it's the 5.3 liter v8 Silverado Trail Boss versus the big boys 6.2 liter v8 I want to see exactly what the difference is between these engines and then there's these two trucks we're gonna go diesel we have the brand spanking new GMC Sierra 84 it's the 1500 with the diesel straight-6 and then we have the RAM rebel with the v6 diesel and both of these will be on the second bracket and as soon as this hurricane wind is over we're gonna put the winners of each against each other which diesel is your money on that's really hard to say because one of them can be lowered a little bit the RAM less wind resistance and then the other one has a little tiny bit more power the GMC so I'm thinking maybe the GMC by a nose oh yeah and at the very end I'm gonna surprise you with another truck oh it better not be a Tesla [Music] as always we are right here at I my Motorsports in that corner Colorado the Chevy Silverado with the 6.2 liter v8 it is one of my favorite v8 still one of the reasons why 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque hooked up to his 10 speed automatic transmission it is quite possibly the fastest General Motors pickup truck that we've tested we'll find out soon I'm driving this the 2020 Silverado 1500 Trail Boss off-road truck it's our latest project truck and under the hood is a 5.3 liter gas v8 and I think it's one of the more underappreciated engines but their rating is 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque but it's also backed up by a 10 speed automatic and I have high hopes for this truck [Music] hey Nathan I just found your weakness women cigars or beer no no I mean for the truck you have those giant mirrors they're gonna slow you down yeah and you're about six inches higher than I am all right I'm also gonna round a zero to sixty okay okay and what about those big knobby tires of yours too they help propel me to speed guys we know the 6-2 is gonna be quicker the whole point of this is not just about fun although it is a blast it's also to figure out the 0-60 times I'm running an automated all-wheel drive mode traction control disabled do you have your traction disabled in auto mode yes sir let's get it going I got traction control off I got the auto four-wheel drive or whatever you will call it thing on and you better have the same all right I'm ready and there she goes uh guys slaughtered him uh I was trying yeah a four cylinder in there or it was gonna be no it's a v8 you have a v8 in there right I got through sixty yeah he almost launched into orbit so you're literally a foot away from being in the mud yeah nine point three eight a mile above sea level trail boss all-wheel drive mode he get so worked up I know he's happy about that alright well look at the next bracket I never get tired of beating Andre and Roman especially when I'm in a truck that is totally overpowering I really have had a lot of great experiences with a 6.2 liter v8 I think it's a really solid engines one of the best ones that General Motors produces I know there's been other stuff that they've been putting out I know a lot of you guys are still upset about the six liter going away for general purposes for daily driving and for occasional towing I can't think of a better powertrain that General Motors produces that's wise it's so good [Music] and for this one I'm driving the brand new GMC Sierra 1500 84 off-road truck with a straight-six turbodiesel the Duramax with a power rating of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque it's a gem of an engine it's not just efficient but it's also relatively powerful for a diesel [Music] I'm drivin the RAM rabble with the new eco D slicing me because most of it has been redone puts a 260 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque it's a torque monster it's one of the best in class for torque don't know if that's gonna help so much with drag racing but it does have the air suspension so I'm gonna try to lower it a little bit might help with air uh well it's not gonna help with the hero nothing's gonna help with Aero but I thought I'd do it anyway [Applause] [Music] you might be wondering how come we don't have a Ford f-150 diesel or v8 how come there is no Toyota Tundra why no Nissan Titan well we just can't get eight or ten trucks here at the same time but what I love about this comparison is that we have two very competitively priced turbo diesel half contracts and we have two v---aids from Chevrolet and we're showing you the real-world numbers and of course we'll do more drag racing as soon as we can get other trucks here ah Dre has ordered me to put it into four hi not to lock the rear axle because it's kind of unnecessary but to shut traction control I'm still in automated four-wheel-drive mode and also traction controls still disabled in this truck as well Nathan are you ready for some butt whuppin one second pack I got a secret weapon watch this boom the mirrors just fold it and now I'm dropping down to the lowest height well I got a better start whoa big bunch off the line oh geez and he took off like a scalded cat this is nuts yeah dude there is also a big surprise here whether that you're partially on mud yeah I am partially off the track but also I got an eight point nine nine zero to 60 time which means this diesel 84 Sierra which is heavier truck is actually quicker than that 5.3 liter trail boss I gotta admit that thing was like a freight train when it was passing me too you went up and passed me like I wasn't really moving yeah this straight-6 has this knack for just building power yeah I think you're geared better too frankly but I feel bad because this is the only round we have representing them as you guys know they have Hemis and stuff like that that are pretty quick all right now it's time to put up the Duramax three litre against the 6.2 liter big v8 that cost the same they're both about $2,500 options so it's gonna be interesting GM versus GM [Applause] [Music] [Applause] guys you send us emails about this all the time which engineer gets to get a 3-liter it is more efficient how about the 6-2 because they cost the same well now you're gonna find out exactly on acceleration how they do that diesel is pretty quick but it does it doesn't stand a chance and I'm still traction control disabled and automated all drive mode which means it's mostly rear-wheel drive but as soon as the computer senses slip in the rear it also puts some power to the front so it's mimicking an all-wheel drive system and both of us have the same four-wheel-drive automated mode on the only difference is I have off-road tires I'm sitting a little bit higher good takeout Wow you got a good lunch whoa what no but I had a wonderful launch you actually got a better lunch than me but my zero to 60 time was seven point zero six seconds yeah I do that I launch that I brake torque the heck out of it I had a wonderful launch yeah you did zero to sixty or seven point zero six seconds well I have a surprise for you I have a surprise so maybe we can try it one more time geez it looked like Nathan was sipping a tea or something as he was passing me I mean this diesel is good it's a good engine but that's six two in the Chevy I think right now that is the quickest General Motors pickup truck half-ton that we've ever tested [Music] [Applause] yeah the 6-2 Chevy is a quick truck but that's why I brought this with hopes to beat Nathan this is a 2020 f250 Super Duty the Godzilla the 7.3 liter v8 with the rating of 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque and of course the tennspeed [Music] [Music] Oh Nathan I want to see his face when I pull up with this oh no you didn't uh hello there well that's our truck there's our truck and it's a good Zilla with exhaust well I mean got a lot of horsepower um this is gonna be interesting well you know what I don't know if this is gonna work for me you still might be quicker but it's just fun so all of these trucks have been all stock except for this one this is our project truck 2020 f250 super trimmer we call it and this truck the only modification on this is an exhaust system we removed one of the resonators and we put a little bit more of free-flowing muffler on it traction control disabled are you doing automated mode still and traction disabled great good ready [Music] is it this enemy you know how much lighter this is is a power-to-weight thing I spanked him [Music] I think I won 8.8 for okay dude so I got an eight point eight four in the Godzilla I think I can improve that time by a tenth or two but there is no way I'm gonna touch 7.0 no you're not you're not gonna touch this truck this truck is the fastest thing currently that we're driving at Chevrolet it's given us that has a bed yeah that's kind of a short cab truck four-wheel drive that that's it yeah I love it I love this engine it's still one of my absolute favorite v8s out there okay guys well I think we can wrap this up of course for completeness here's a zero to sixty in the ram eco diesel four-wheel drive traction control disabled all right I did not go in the mud 9.8 9.8 so nine point three eight Trail Boss eight point nine nine the Duramax GMC seven oh six to eight point eight for Godzilla and nine point eight for the eco diesel Ram [Music] so we've learned that the six two can be two five three and everything else yes we also learned that the Duramax diesel and we've also learned that that brother Godzilla here for nothing yeah you really didn't do much however I am curious about one thing what was the zero to sixty in the GNC it was a very surprising eight point nine nine and what did you just steal inside the big Ford eight point eight so the Ford is a little bit quicker than the diesel yeah but not by a lot so General Motors is definitely showing some spirit when it comes to performance at least with zero to 60 s and guys go back to TF o truck comm from when news views and of course ultimate drag races
