We bought a Cheap old camper to use as a cabin! (needs work)

welcome back to vice grip lodge so previously you know that for wanting to set something out here on this property to kind of use a couple weeks out of the year as a cabin so to speak and boy did we find something good and it was cheap [Music] we picked up a 1997 98 probably a 96. sandpiper bumper pull camper but it's a park model so they're made to you know block up and everything they got the bigger frame and just some better stuff for long-term living and we got it for like i think it was twenty two hundred dollars is all which is literally probably a fifth of what it's worth so i'm gonna give you guys a little tour and then we got some work to do on this thing because she's got a leaky roof and some other stuff so let's go take a look here she is sliding door so a lot of these almost all park models have like a slider and that's because a lot of people like to put decks on here and stuff and that's exactly what we're gonna do because of our view you can see it's you know it's old is what it is though we don't need anything fancy this is plenty nice for us needs a little bit of a cleaning does have two slides so this is going to be the master bedroom slide and then there's another slide i'll probably just jump inside and show you that the roof is leaking and then we're probably also going to re-caulk the sides here because i don't think i'm going to get to it this summer so we're basically already getting it ready for the coming winter wheels rusting through very 90s inside let me get the key we got this thing so cheap through a family friend my cousin's uncle i think that's right something like that there's the other slide for the living area and then this used to have bunks but one was taken down but i got the key here let's jump in and take a look at this beautiful rig what a beaut that just fell down hardwood floors put him i don't know amateurlyrish that's not a word it is now but that's okay has a smaller fridge usually park models have the bigger fridge but that's okay nice big pantry in here that's a lot of cold snacks and ramen noodles that folds down to a bed of course this pulls out to a bed as well and then up front here little table dinette i was told i don't know if that's a thing but that folds down into a bed as well this used to be bunk beds and they took one section out here for just some storage i think and we'll probably rebuild that bunk bed so we've got three boys so they can all come up here and then we can no i'm kidding probably not plenty of space so i think it's 38 feet tiny little bathtub rest area there exit door for the master and it's got a king size bed which is great because i'm a sasquatch you need plenty of room guy can set up here and do some editing and stuff and there's enough room for eight shirts what else do you need that's plenty i was just thinking i think that's all of the [Music] storage for clothing it's not a lot kind of a his and her thing it's got one ac unit no idea if it works no idea if the furnace works no idea if the plumbing works we just kind of gambled and said what the price that we're getting it for we're just gonna take it this is the area here there used to be like a crank up antenna i would assume and it's very water damaged so we're going to get up on the roof and then cranes with me and he's a construction general contractor jack of all trades master of two kind of guy so he's gonna go around and seal up all the windows and the corners and all that stuff so he can start getting ready for heavy rain and eventually winter unfortunately it's coming quick dang it is that a mason jar we're still having heavy debate about whether putting it up here up on the old home site there whenever that other house was there 180 years or whatever but i'll probably lose eventually i'm just kind of stalling until then because that means there's a lot of work involved but we borrowed a ladder i got some i don't know what's called like henry's roof make it better 600 stuff gonna dump that in up there while chris does other stuff so here's where that hand crank is going to and i have to assume probably right through that or around this is where this is leaking so i'm gonna basically just take this dump it upside down on this and just shut her down the rest of this i don't know seems to be okay it doesn't look like it's ever been hailed out actually and i've seen that a couple times with my other rigs it's pretty obvious when they get the hail damages but this has an awning i just realized that's pretty cool anyway i'm gonna put this i'm not even sure what this is back in that hole and it just starts slopping stuff on here guy decided to run some clear silly con down there first and this is what it looks like when you apply this stuff here and i'm gonna wait just a couple minutes and then just really slather it on that there we go getting that gooped up oh i got to bring him back out this here could use some in there maybe he's down here somewhere oh yeah you can't even tell oh it's brand new just something you gotta watch for when you get these little tin jobs i think the new fiberglass ones don't quite do that but it's hard to say is this doorknob shutting over i think it is guy's gonna have to take a look at that now there looks like cake frosting basically but that ought to do the job if it starts leaking some more then i definitely know it's not from here and i also smeared on a little over there just because the guy could reach it and also there i'm gonna hit these corners too because there's this plastic piece that shrinks up and came back and then it exposes screws in here so working in these corners by the way the old timer that had this thing somehow hit every corner of the roof and drug three of the four corners on stuff this is the only one that isn't smashed in oh by the way this tipped and now i'm painting with my hand basically that's fine that's what it looks like there and that shrinks up so i'm gonna come over here and do the same thing and then i gotta look back on that slide out on the master there's some water damage so i might have to get up in that corner and smear some stuff on there well i did these corners up here too because it's a little bit of the same thing and i don't know what i'm doing and i'm making a big mess but i've used almost this whole gallon so something's happening and i did that thing too and drew some stuff up there these guys are supervising doing good but i think that's probably it for whatever this whatever this is elastomeric salad or blanco a lasso america tacos i also just accidentally found out that this stuff fixes bullet holes with ease look at this gone three of them look at over here look at this big one right here what bullet hole well i mean let me get a coat in here now just wait hold on now well there we go i mean this is clearly a replacement for bondo this thing's looking pretty good gonna have the most waterproof car in north dakota this one needs a little bit of wiring and uh tires i think we can get her get her fired up again here's a tough one it takes to come in high and then just see boom i thought she's going to be set up for a little bit we're going to do some anti-rodent stuff so we got this juice spray it looks pretty good i've used it a lot just go around all the nooks and crannies and stuff like that and you just ease her in by the way see that giant frame it's a little bit bigger than your typical on these park models and that's so you can block these up and then they're nice and solid but anywhose get this stuff just spray it in everywhere got a half dozen cans like this and then i got some pellets here i'm just going to shake this you know we're going to set up a perimeter so i'm saying sprinkle them all in here and definitely keep them away from this ford courier over here those two mufflers over there are worth more than about anything we're looking at this heater look at this thing tommy's gonna take this up to the shop i think but this is how many btu a million well that does it for fixing on that for today we'll keep you posted as we figure out finally where we're going to set her up and then we got to build a deck we've got to block it up we've got a lot of work that needs to be done of that thing so it sounds like jessica's got some plans to fix on the inside i'm not allowed to you know do any of that stuff so i have to see how that turns out but thanks guys for watching appreciate it see you next time [Music] you
