Walking Through the Lord's Prayer

let's recap what I've shared with you about prayer and compare it with the Lord's Prayer here on the clear board prayer starts by acknowledging who you're praying to you're not speaking with your best friend on the telephone here you're speaking to the creator of heaven and earth who already knows your needs before you even ask our Father in heaven Hallowed be your name I want to pause right here for just a second because I really want you to grasp the personal nature of the Father in heaven sometimes we say our we think of him as being like the father of the masses and not really a father of me personally the reality is this he is a personal God in a very impersonal world Matthew chapter 20 Jesus has risen from the dead the women come up to him and I'm wanting to touch him and he says do not touch me for I have not yet ascended to my father and your father my God and your God why is that important because we need to understand this is a personal God a personal father who is deeply interested and everything about you well the next substance that makes prayer work is faith what's faith faith is the understanding of how the system of heaven works faith is the understanding that God's ways and his will are far and vastly superior to yours faith doesn't require you always understand God's ways faith just means you trust God in His ways your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven as a statement of faith the statement is I believe your will is better than my will even though I don't know what it is maybe I may be not trusted or I may not know know what to do with I do trust it so the great thing is to know that you trust in God's will being superior to yours so here's what we do now we worship we worship God and believe that he's capable of answering our prayer and the more you pray the more faith will grow the more your faith grows the or your will will align with God's will and the more effective your prayers will be the next step then is repentance and forgiveness being clean before God clears what I call the spiritual frequencies or you might like to say it it removes wax from our ears it allows you to hear from the Holy Spirit and it prepares you for the next step which is to ask your prayers to be answered so ask God for everything you need today healing provision and whatever else you need to conquer evil and advance the kingdom because it's difficult to conquer evil if you're sick on the bed so ask God to heal you see conquer evil and so we pray give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors finally we want to ask God for His divine wisdom and protection we never focus on what the enemy is doing in our life but that doesn't mean we don't prepare no I don't like to focus on a lesser power I want to focus on the greatest power but we still need to be prepared wisdom says be prepared so the moment you pray the spiritual atmosphere changes around you the enemy isn't sure what's going on because it's not omniscient but whatever it is the enemy is not going to like it so an effectual prayer should also ask for God's wisdom and his hand of protection over your life that's why the Lord's Prayer includes lead us not into temptation deliver us from the evil one or some some translations say from the power of the evil one for yours is the kingdom the power and the glory forever amen now we need just stop for a second and notice the tail end of this the Lord's Prayer ends with God getting all the glory the whole purpose for that prayer when the disciples say how should we pray is summed up in that last line so that God receives all the glory how do you know that when you're finished praying you weren't asking amiss because of God was to answer it God would be the one he gets the glory and you and aha that is the secret to the mystery of Prayer [Music] [Music] you [Music]
