Game champ is pretty fun to watch. I like the video he did on BoTW without climbing, and Mario 3D world without jumping.

The amount of dedication this requires is insane

good morning everybody and welcome to VG myths the online internet video game TV show dedicated to asking questions you already know the answer to and jak and daxter the precursor legacy you play as a young man destined to one day collect idols of shiny objects and solved the mystery of the precursors but it wouldn't be a very good mystery if we knew the answer which is why I'm making it my mission to never find out why they built this crap can you beat jak and daxter without collecting any precursor orbs precursor orbs are the games most common collectible scattered around the land wherever the devs wanted to lure players Power Cells meanwhile are the game's main collectible and gating mechanism this entire run is focused on collecting Power Cells while dodging the orbs in our path of course just to show off we're not just grabbing the minimum to beat the game we're gonna grab absolutely every single Power Cell we possibly can let's start the game and get into geyser Rock the blue eco door at the beginning presents a little mini or Bliss run tutorial blue eco temporarily supercharges jack and opens the door but it also turns him into a precursor or magnet the solution is to simply grab louie go earlier in the level and take the long way around enjoy this little puzzle because it's the simplest one in the game Sandover village has our first impossible Power Cells though we can't cry too bad about missing them these Power Cells and many more throughout the game can only be bought with precursor orbs essentially locking them out from even existing in an orb las' run will also need to start worrying about scout flies the seventh and final Scout fly you grab within an area will always coincidentally be holding a Power Cell this inherently means there are seven possible spawning locations for this Power Cells some of which overlap with brickers or orbs if jack stands on an orb during the Power Cell cutscene that orb will automatically be collected and Auto saved if you grab the Power Cell effectively making the cell permanently unobtainable but since the Power Cell is always held by the final Scout fly you can sidestep the issue by saving a scout fly in an orb less area for last we're noting now it's highly highly extremely recommended to use all four save slots as backups while doing an orb less run one false move can either permanently make a Power Cell inaccessible or even autosave a precursor orb on to your file effectively ending the run for good in forbidden jungle we have to be a little bit tricky to get to of the Scout flies then we need to grab to power cells down into blue eco temple the power cells themselves are surprisingly easy to grab but bringing them out with us presents its own problem the exit is via a blue eco bounce pad that just so happens to bounce you into a line of orbs above ground you might think we could just save and reload our game but there's a checkpoint inside the temple and the game will always spawn you at the last save checkpoint if you load game but there's a solution hidden in plain sight jump up the tunnel and save your game after changing load zones but before touching the orbs during this brief window of time the game changes your checkpoint flag to one above ground so loading the save game spawns you outside the temple your orb count still at zero and the temple Power Cells banks with the blue eco vent activated we can now also get all the cells in sand over beach and Misty Island there are some ramps that serve as something of a little Zoomer tutorial make baby steps between the orbs and there's just barely enough space to grab the scout fly and make the jump for the Power Cell after Misty Island we've obtained every potential or Bliss Power Cell in the game's first sub and can move on to the first level of the second hub Lost precursor city for this scout fly you'll want to time a double jump exactly right - just barely weave in and make your escape it takes a few tries but it feels awesome when you pull it off at the bottom of the city is a section wearing we have to climb a circular tower as a pool of dark eco slowly rises after us the path has orbs along the way and we need blue echo to trigger bounce pads the dark eco is essentially a death timer preventing us from waiting for the blue eco to run out and the blue eco prevents us from walking forward luckily there's a quirk we can abuse to stop the death timer from starting in the first place the dark eco Rises when we step on this button long jump past the button and it will never even start rising giving you all the time you need to sit and do absolutely nothing yeah I'm not into speedrunning I'm more about finding the path of least resistance there's one more Power Cell here but this one seems absolutely 100% no way nohow impossible touching all of these machines with gluey will cause the chamber in the center of the room to rise to the surface bringing a power cell with it a couple of these machines are planted directly next to precursor orbs the blue eco magnetic range on these orbs is slightly larger than the range at which the machines can be activated we can't play fast and loose with our save file either we have to get all of them in one go meaning at least by the dev intended method it's 100% impossible to grab this power cell or 'bless but since when did we start caring what the developers want us to do head to this corner of the level wait for the totem enemies to walk over to you jump on top of them then jump into the wall the wall isn't actually solid up there and with some careful movement you can clip over to the window on the opposite side go into first person view look slightly to the right of the window hold forward and DoubleTap triangle repeat repeat repeat adjusting you're aiming to make sure you're always looking in the direction of the Power Cell the loss of gravity don't exist while in first-person view and you can re-enter first-person view for a brief window of time after exiting it by holding forward every time you exit and re-enter you move Jack slightly forward in the air while sacrificing a little height it might take a couple tries to get the timing but this trick will let you reach the Power Cell out of bounds grab it and enjoy the fireworks show the cursor Basin is the dedicated Zoomer level featuring one of the toughest or 'bless challenges in the game a ramp which is of course covered in orbs leading up to a squiggly bridge which is also of course covered in orbs the ramp has enough space to squeeze on the left side luckily and as for the bridge it takes a ton of practice a ton of skill and a ton of retries but with ludicrous divine aim you can zoom between two orbs and readjust in midair to reach the other side but just doing this once still isn't enough after making a tricky jump for a Power Cell at the end of this maze of orbs we have to go right back up to initiate the blue ring race the pathway for this race ever so coincidentally happens to loop around and force us to do the same trick again meaning you have to pull this trick off twice in a row the second time under a time limits it'll test your patience but it's 100% possible put your mind to it and there's no thing that can stop you from threading this needle this next Power Cell isn't different than orb lists but uh this this is a thing that can happen Jesus came I'm doing this run casually what do you think I am so kind of speed runnin god boggy Swamp is a pretty leisurely level to take a break with except for one tiny little issue this bounce pad takes us to an area what the Power Cell you see the problem there's no way to jump on this pad without going near any of the orbs but we're not giving up just yet there's another or 'bless bounce pad nearby that leads to a separate area in which is yet another bounce pad meant to take us back where we came from normally these bounce pads lock you into a preset path but it's possible to abuse a glitch to derail yourself mash the circle button after pressing the jump button there's a single moment in the jumping animation during which the player can cause jack to spin hit circle at exactly that moment and you'll get all the height from the jump but retain midair control letting you move over to the next enclosure and grab the final cell of the second hub after completely disrespecting claw we move on to the final hub area and its first level spider caves right out of the gate is what seems to be the first truly impossible non purchase power cell in the game after killing the gnawing lurkers one of them drops a Power Cell and a ton of precursor orbs which happen to unfortunatelly land directly next to each other the cutscene the place when grabbing the Power Cell positions jack on an orb and auto-saves simultaneously meaning the act of grabbing the cell is synonymous with grabbing a precursor or no amount of fancy flippy tricks help us here as far as the world's been able to figure out this Power Cell is unobtainable while none of the other power cells here are impossible the giant precursor robot will prove a great test of your movement capability it's basically the blue ring challenge of on-foot gameplay you can grab the cell either through SuperDuper hyper triple boosted double flip place uppercuts or tiptoe noob strats snowy mountain the final proper level in the game luckily doesn't go hard on us almost every Power Cell here is easily obtained but there also happens to be one which is easily impossible a Power Cell will appear after standing on every precursor blocker some of which have orbs floating directly above them standing on these blockers inherently also means within the grav range of the orbs making it impossible to ever spawn the cell after clearing out every other power cell in the third hub we reach a grand total of 77 compared to the 72 needed to access the final Zoomer section and reach the final boss of the orb less run goal and Maya's Citadel it's a gigantic platforming nightmare and there's only one way up [Music] then but there we go we just did it the cutscene that plays when you first enter the Citadel set your checkpoint flag to the top checkpoint instead of the bottom so you can skip the entire thing by doing a save and load but now that we're at the top of the Citadel we're jumping straight back down this was only a temporary pitstop there's still Power Cells down there the blue sages platforming segment is ludicrously impossible or bliss but we can skip the entire thing by jumping down from the top of the Citadel now that we're back down the red sage can be finished completely legit and the yellow sage can be skipped too with a clever jump from some lower platforms with these three sages freed the dev intended path to the top of the Citadel opens letting us get backups legit to the final Power Cell in the game which also happens to be our final roadblock grabbing same OSes power cell is required to beat the game and it stuck directly on top of a precursor or not just any precursor orb the final precursor orb yeah I am 100% serious it's absolutely categorically legally impossible to watch the final Power Cell collection cutscene without grabbing the game's fine Oprah cursor orb and literally the last possible moment the jak and daxter or bliss run is a foregone conclusion because speedrunners figured out this baby stuff years ago sure we can't watch the cutscene without grabbing the orb but who says we need to watch the cutscene if you pause the game at exactly the moment the Power Cell cutscene is intended to start the Power Cell will register as obtained and autosave while in the pause menu before the cutscene actually starts playing since the cutscene hasn't started yet we happen to collected the orb yet and we can load our save file with the orb counter still set at 0 do your victory lap throw Gul and Maya in the trash and a jak and daxter or bliss run is mission complete one final note in case you had the same idea I did I tried to do posturing shenanigans for the 9 lurker cell but it doesn't quite work the same way as say Moses trying to pause at the moment we grab the cell just ends up resulting in the game acting like we pause during a cutscene making it effectively useless hopefully we'll be able to figure out some kind of crazy triple ultimate flipped waste trick to grab this and the precursor blocker cells in the future but for now our final or plus power cell counts is 84 and one double final note this run wouldn't have been possible without the combined work of Jack fans and speedrunners who've been running this challenge for years in particular special super thanks to outrageous Josh a speedrunner with about 15,000 jack and acts of World Records who made an or 'bless guide a couple years ago that helped ton loads with getting the fancy glitched out Power Cells plus I used an ESA marathon stream by grig from a couple years ago as reference pretty frequently to links to both in the description special thanks to all patreon backers including Andrew cyber mrs.
