Using the Meta Quest 3 for OTHER THINGS...

name's Maverick welcome back to my YouTube channel and today I'm going to talk to you about what I use the meta Quest 3 for other than gaming this thing is very versatile and what I can use it for in my humble opinion again this is all hum like this is all humble based I'm combining my words again uh this is all opinion based whether you think this is useful or functional to you the main function that people use medaquest for is for gaming but I use it for other things too uh there's two things that use it for that are very surprising that I didn't think I would be able to but I can cuz I was worried I need to buy another monitor because as you all guys as you guys don't know um I quit my other job to go for another job but unfortunately uh with my departure the reason why that ties into this is I lost my monitors so I was using we were given work from home equipment just in case cuz we were on call I had to monitor it but I used it for my for my personal Mac but once I left of course I had to return everything it's not mine so I lost two monitors I was like now I have to buy another monitor and then I just splurged on this and I'm like and I wanted to get the Apple monitor it's like 1,500 but I'm like God that's a lot to spend after being I'm going to be unemployed for two weeks technically so it's like that's a lot of money to drop when there's no additional income coming in I guess I'm going to have to make do with u my two gaming monitors here hooked up one to my Mac hooked up one to my my Windows PC and I'm like what am I going to do I how am I going to edit how am I going to do all this stuff multim monitor is just the best when you're editing I know I'm not a professional content creator still having two monitors is like the standard for any workflow nowadays then I found out that this puppet right here can connect to your PC other than for gaming like it'll be your virtual desktop I was like expion it blew my mind I was like wait so it can give me virtual monitors yes sir yes I can I am I know there's virtual desktop that's the one everyone's using they paid 20 bucker roonies for it but I'm cheap I already spent so much on the VR and the games and refunding a couple I'll go into more in that another video but I got I got emmer seed I think I'm saying it I'll pop it up here emmer I'm going to call it emmer seed it's goddamn awesome I'm like this is cool so I was there in the virtual environment you even you can be in a private room I'll show you some clips and all that while I'm talking and stuff I'll be in a private room uh or I can be in a public room I can mute my mic I can put all my desktops away you know as whatever I'll post editing all this cool [ __ ] that's happening right now like I'm new to this content creation kind of game okay it's just awesome cuz I only have one monitor for my Mac and it gives me additional ones now I know there is a premium feature where you pay $4.99 per month where you get to five uh virtual desktops and I don't need that I just need two additional ones so that's more than enough for me I don't need five virtual desktops I just need an additional two which mean gives me three which is one extra one that I didn't need so I'm I'm happy so I have my main one in front of me I'm editing my video and all that and then the one on my uh left I put uh like my iMessages and my Discord and then on my right stuff that I'm getting off the internet like sound bits or like images all copyright free of course um music sound whatever emmer seed I'm going to call it emmer seed I don't care if I'm singer I really don't care makes working content creation just doing multiple things so much easier now of course it depends on your Wi-Fi connection how strong your internet connection is because what you do is you download a client on your PC whether it's a Mac or Windows and of course you have the application in your headset and you do have to have somewhat of a strong connection so if you have booty ass connection I don't know I probably don't recommend it I don't know I haven't tried it I don't now you can switch off the augmented reality and the virtual reality it just depends on your preference if you would rather work in uh like you want to see your settings around you or if you want to be in a virtual environment so that's pretty cool but I want to be in a virtual envir enironment that way I'm free of any distractions and that's the point of the app get away from the distractions be listening to calm music whether you're in a cafe a cave whatever maps that they have just listening to the Ambiance working maybe even talk to some people you know it's it's cool it's cool how that works I love it so that's concerning workflows that's what I do with emeret it's basically your own setup in the virtual world without having the additional setup you're like well what about the battery life well it won't last me that long well I connected it to my Windows PC via the Link cable and my headset kept charge I don't know I plugged it in directly to my graphics card and it actually gives it not only does it keep a charge but it gives it battery so it ends up charging to 100% of course I'll unplug it after some time because I don't want to overcharge it but by the time it gets to that point I'm done like I was 2 hours in and it charged 20% additionally I was like oh my God that's cool U my my computer has a lot of power battery wise just keep yourself plugged in if you're going to work extended periods of time so I don't know if it's worth upgrading to the pro because it's for $.99 a month uh there's not a lifetime license and honestly like to me it's not beneficial you have to be online if you're on the free version I think that's the drawback you have to be connected to internet if you want to be offline and to access it you have to have the pro version that's that's the biggest so I can't use it unless I'm connected to the internet so so if you don't have internet you wouldn't be watching this but if you wanted to do this offline mode you cannot so maybe there's other applications maybe virtual desktop's better I haven't looked into it I'll have to see but 20 bucks for that when I got it for free on emmer seed I'm constantly on the Wi-Fi anyways it doesn't matter I'm going to be editing and doing what I need to with internet connection otherwise it's not possible cuz I need to get resources and stuff so to me emmer said it's great so moving on from that I do a lot of stuff around the house with my headset as well cooking now to an extent now once I start frying stuff putting stuff in the pan and heating stuff up I take it off because I don't want that stuff splashing on my headset and causing damage now if I'm doing prep work and that's what I found it most useful because look I've always been about you know cross-contamination I'm I'm a pretty clean person especially when it comes to my devices I keep it clean I wipe it down at least once a week with an alcohol wipe that Apple recommends to wipe your devices with and especially when you're cooking I want to watch something unfortunately now everyone's been conditioned to watch something with whatever they're doing it's just the unfortunate reality I remember I used to do stuff without having to watch anything it was just me in my mind but I don't want to hear the voices in my head cuz they're telling me [ __ ] and I know I'm just kidding I'm not crazy I may be a woman but I'm not crazy but being able to cook and watch stuff and be able to pause it and stuff without actually touching anything is pretty freaking awesome so I'm just there prepping cutting onions carrots whatever Meats handling stuff and I'm like Oh my hands are contamined sometimes I have to think I'm like wait no I don't have to watch my hands to pause there's no cross-contamination that's like an ultimate win for me it's like cool I can watch stuff do stuff without having to put a device there and then I have my airpods in and not having to go pause and touching stuff I can just do it all from the headset and especially I can command if I just bring up my hand go like this and I hold and I'm like you know increase the volume pause whatever like if I can't and I don't want to I can just tell the voice assistant in The Meta Quest 3 to do it for me and it does it I've had no issues with the voice commands for The Meta Quest it's been doing everything that I say pretty much I've also been washing dishes cuz now that I'm home for 2 weeks uh with nothing to do I'm doing all the chores so I've been doing things on and off cleaning up up sweeping cooking doing the dishes of course I be careful with the dishes make sure that it doesn't like Splash up make sure when I'm scrubbing you know I don't get the water droplets coming in cuz I don't want any of my headset getting on the lenses stuff so I'm really careful how I Scrub but it's really interesting because I know the recorded videos you see on YouTube of the augmented reality with the gooey and all that it doesn't look grainy it looks clear that's like post processing of what the headset is doing but when you're actually wearing the headset it's pretty grainy especially depending on the lighting for me I don't have the great lighting it's not very bright in my house it's actually kind of dark I have Nano Leaf light bulbs and I think at most it's 800 lumens U from what I remember I know 1,000 lumens is like so much better and it's like the standard whatever but it gets pretty dark in my house and I see some grain not that it's bad I expected that I knew it wasn't going to be perfect despite the grain I can still see in the dishes cuz like well you're washing dishes we don't have a dishwasher we live in a duplex I can still see if there's like [ __ ] on you know not literal [ __ ] but food on the plates like okay there's a stain there let me get it off so so far when I've been cooking and cleaning doing dishes I'm still able to see details despite the grain cuz when I bring it up close I'm like okay good and then when I kind of look down you know how you can kind of see depending how big your nose is my nose isn't that big contrary to the opening in the headset I can see like if I need to see my phone I can put it down of course I can see it here but if I want to I guess see something clearer I'll bring it it down to where I can see through my nose I could just kind of I go like this it's weird despite the grinage that I see in the augmented reality I can see everything still clearly I my surroundings are kind of grainy but when I focus on something it's not that bad it's enough detail it's not crystal clear but it's enough detail where you can point out like oh there's stuff on there or when I'm chopping vegetables like okay I know it gets distorted depending on the movement and you can see like a wave but I'm still able to distinguish and dis dist turn I I'm I'm really bad with vocabulary I'm kind of aill literate in a sense I'm still able to chop safely and feel confident that I'm not going to accidentally chop off my finger cooking grease and all that stuff when it's flying out of the pan the headset's off I don't do that I just do it for prep mainly going to the bathroom which I shouldn't I did it that's not a lady I did it a couple times cuz I was like I wonder of course not letting the camera see anything don't have a clip for this segment babe what's up babe where are you going uh nowhere I'm just just going to do a quick recording are you taking the medic to the bathroom no no you're not taking the medic to the bathroom no don't babe it's not worth it I need the views I want to be famous I want to be famous no cuz I don't know who's watching you everyone's tried this I'm sorry maybe I'm the only one bold enough to admit this but that way I can watch a video in the bathroom and not cross-contaminate my device because our phones are freaking nasty our devices are nasty and the fact that it's uh touching like we're using it even if we it's like well I don't why I I don't use it after I wipe it's like doesn't matter it's still disgusting uh you touch the toilet seat you touch the door to get in all that stuff so with with the meta this is a weird thing to talk about with the meta Quest well any virtual reality headset it's cool because I don't have to worry about contamination of course you got to close the lid and then of course I'm kind of already out the door and I'm like flushing making sure that you know you know the sprinkles don't come out but the toilet seats down I don't want nothing getting on this but it's cool not having to hold my phone and watch videos in the restroom it's just with headset I can't believe I'm saying this publicly but it's cool TMI I know TMI but you're doing it too if you have a [ __ ] headset virtual reality headset like The Meta Quest you've done it before don't freaking lie to me but um but also moving on from that so doing household stuff doing stuff around the house it's really cool if I just want to kind of lay down so I'm scared to break this if I lay down and put too much pressure so I kind of lay lay right here on like do you call it the nape of your neck I don't know but it's not completely on the head like with my head resting against the pill it's more like on my neck um that way I don't put too much pressure because I don't want to end up breaking this thing I don't know what the weight or putting my weight will snap I don't know so I try not to do that but I can somewhat lay down and consume contents uh setting up laying down I'm able to grab it pinch it and take it with me anywhere it's cool as a general entertainment consuming media device it's super handy no matter what you're doing of course there's limitations like I've tried eating with the meta Quest 3 on my head and it doesn't work out because I don't want to get sauce and bet depending on the food temperature the steam I don't want the steam to get inside uh cuz around here's the fans I tried it once with stuff that wasn't hot it wasn't steaming but it made it really hard not that I couldn't see like I was able to accurately I mean I could eat blindfolded it's muscle memory at this point for everybody bu it's just kind of awkward and it it it's it's hard to eat cuz you're grabbing the fork and you're trying to eat but it can trigger the gooey like it'll act like oh you're trying to grab the gooey so bring it like super close when I'm just grabbing my Fork I end up doing this and ceman instead of doing this because once I do this and if it's close enough or it picks it up it's going to grab it and drag it with you so eating while watching media unless I put it far enough I guess I put in the Big View even then like randomly if I'm doing anything with my hands cuz it's pointing at it it's picking up my hands the headset so it'll randomly pause go to the next video uh rewind whatever so eating while watching something unless it's something simple like nothing where you have to use utensils like you're just grabbing a burrito cool yeah I would say use it but anything else probably not you you you don't want to end up like smashing your headset with food and accidentally miscalculating scratching it with your utensils stuff so do not eat with your meta Quest headset I tried it it just doesn't work it just feels kind of awkward we're not there yet like if you had just glasses like Google Lens or glasses cool I think that would work but yeah just don't don't not going to it's like I'm just going to listen to podcast to put on my airpods listen to podcast and just go from there yeah but yeah those are the things you can do with the Met that I've tried so far pretty it's been pretty funny especially with my husband's reaction when he first saw me doing the dishes he was like what are you doing I'm like I'm doing the dishes I'm watching a YouTube video I'm like well that's cool that's weird though but that's cool cuz I kind of wear the headset a lot like I'm not even joking it's it's a little weird and disorienting and I'll make another video actually no I'll just yeah let's make another video on that yeah so that's what I use the meta Quest 34 outside of gaming it's cool that I can use it on a desktop it's cool that I can remote into my windows PC it's cool that I can do some chores here and there do basic stuff while I'm consuming content and just general stuff I I enjoy it a lot it's it I like how I can use it for a lot more stuff than just gaming you know I never thought it would be possible for me to do this like to have a gooey in front and interacting with it and the tracking is honestly pretty good now if it gets too dark of course it's not going to really pick up my hand but despite how dark my house can be it still picks up my hand tracking pretty well even though meta Quest will probably hey that the hand tracking isn't going to work as well because it's pretty dark but it still does I mean it's not perfect as it would be during the day where there's natural light coming in but it's pretty solid despite it being pretty dark in my house so no complaints I'm very happy with the meta Quest headset so let me know what you guys think in the comments what do you guys use your meta Quest 3 for other than gaming tell me what daily routines have you adopted with your meta quest Quest headset or your other virtual reality headsets I there's other ones out there let's not limit it to just meta Quest but I don't know if this is I don't know if the meta Quest is the only one that does augmented reality I still need to do research on that I know it's like I'm just making these videos back to
