Unraveling the Dark Past of History's Most Feared Mafia Gangs

here we go again the John and Jean show it's Mafia onv today we got a great story about Tommy shots that crew and uh probably the the most modern day killing crew of uh of late and let's just jump right into that and Jean go ahead you start it off and and and we'll go from there right so um uh as people know uh the mafia um kind of died down in certain times with the murder um obviously his era was a killing era and then in the '90s it was still very violent in the late '90s early 2000s you still had a very dangerous violent crew um I personally did time with one of the members of that crew um you did time with another one of the crew they had up to um 14 murders um these guys were killing everybody and that was uh Tommy shots big Dino little Dino Joey kill Wild Bill killed Wild Bill uh this was the most violent crew out of the Columbo family um for the five families of the modern day era uh there's no if and thought about it um I personally got the bunk with Joey caves I was very close with him and got to hear some of the things that were going on in that crew and it was like a not a Roy de Mayo crew I don't want to compare it to that but you could say that they could have been like that um they handled everything with murder uh Joey caves had went on to tell me some of the gruesome crimes that they were doing and um well let me cut you off but you know not only were they murder they were tough guys themselves Tommy shots got the nickname from being shot and in a Chase in a wild Chase back and forth he got shot in the shoulder he got shot in the belly Joe Waverly is another guy we'll talk about who also uh they Tred to hit him wait we got to get into the cop thing too there's a lot so the cop gets killed the uh Dono I believe his name was in about 97 I believe but Waverly also took a gun off of somebody when he got shot you know three guys jumped them and tried to shoot him he took the gun off and killed one of them the other guys took off so these guys are not just you know which I said I talk against most of these mob guys and against they're not legitimate tough guy gangsters these guys happened to be tough guys all the way around uh when when these things went on so um it's crazy he brought up that cop murder because I know that uh pacifics through uh Joey caves what end up happening is that Joe Waverly ordered the murder of this man and big Dino little Dino and Joey caves didn't know he was a law enforcement they were actually Furious over it because uh the guy was sleeping Joe uh Joe wy's ex-wife or something like that and he told him he wanted the guy dead they end up waiting for him to come out of a gym Joey caves and big Dino shot and killed him in his car comes up the next day law enforcement well I'm going to cut you for a second so the Kini brothers were uh supposed to First go ordered a hit of a of a prosecutor by accident they hit the prosecutor's father because they only give the last name of the prosecutor so when they hit that prosecutor the Kine Brothers get killed now Waverly mared mares the Widow of that brother so what does Waverly expect when she leaves him and marries a cop right so you know I don't speak highly of a woman who just married Waverly first moved in with him then marries him and this guy is the one that ordered the killing of your husband so what did he expect that that woman was going to be loyal to him and when she wasn't she left him right for the cop Dono waverly's fuming and he orders the murder knowing that he's a cop ready for this though then when they found out that he was law enforcement big Dino and Joey then went to get permission from Tommy shots to kill Waverly but I was with uh uh uh with Dino he used to work out with me and I told him I don't believe you I says I think you're full of [ __ ] how do you go kill somebody without laying on him and you don't always a c I swear well well this will show you you know you know it from Joey's end and I like Joey for Dino I told him you got to be one of the dumbest bastards around because if you're going to do a hit you're supposed to do your homework and lay on a guy the guy's got to be coming back and forth to work didn't you do any homework before you hit a guy you just the first day you go see him and you just start shooting at him I mean I I I couldn't understand it yeah so Joey told me he goes Jeanie goes we were so mad when we found out he was a cop we actually went to Tommy shot and says we're killing Waverly he had just kill a [ __ ] cop we don't do that you're going to make every you know that's that's heat like you can't imagine yeah you know [ __ ] he got is doing like personal beefs you're not supposed to do that so they [ __ ] he's like abusing his power cuz they had him as acting boss wavely at the time when I was in jail I got into a fight I think I talked about it already on a show and when Dino first came into the prison with me I gave him clothes we do we all do you know when a guy comes in for people don't know you're welcome you give him a package you make sure he has food you make sure his clothes you take care of him he started working out with me actually surprisingly saw I didn't think he was that strong he would do a th burpees with me he was in shape he was strong quiet kind of guy personable right but when he dogged the fight when I had a fight in the kitchen and Vinnie Estes from this area actually jumped for me and I didn't know him that was the first day and he jumped because there was six guys I was going to fight right and Dino dogged and I told Dino you're out on the street you're killing all kinds of people and he says well I want to go home then you shouldn't have came to prison cuz in prison doesn't matter we went on the street we leave it there in prison you got to carry yourself a certain way that's great so Joey C is total opposite he would have been the first guy in fori you Jo I know I know anybody that knows Joey told me the same thing he and I spoke to Joey with you on the phone before and I like Joey and and listen legitimately tough kid oh really say anything I hear different people talking and you know how people talk cuz the guy's not in front of them right and uh you know um uh he he got kicked out of every unit Joey caves they couldn't handle him he was uh literally me and him went to the hole together we got really close and um like I says when they they actually went to Tommy shots and says go tell Carmine we're going to kill Waverly for what he did he got us to kill a [ __ ] law enforcement so they were having a heart attack over it but um I remember that was like a big unsolved crime you know what I mean you got to remember something also when I'm talking about the loyalty a treachery him up shot started off with the arena that's who he was under and when they made the move against perso and all the killing was going a lot of guys jump side to the persal side to save them their lives right and and Tommy tough he is can't take that from him I believe he comes out of jail this year or next year yeah soon you know he's 70 something years old now he 72 years old but he switched sides then I'll tell you like there is no real loyalty so you know you're you're you're tough in certain ways but you're not loyal in other ways and you know guys like Joey scopo who I'm you know I love the guy he's one of the guys that gets that gets killed during this war because Gotti actually influenced that side and they thought they had the power to be able to take over the perso faction of it because perso well tell him this why did Gotti want Joey scopo to be the boss because he was trying to take over the five families Gotti and he knew Joey scopo would back him so he was trying to get people in power to make him head of the commission so people understand that why he was backing Joey scopo Gotti didn't give a [ __ ] about them he just wanted the voting you know what I'm saying he wanted to vot but he loved Joey he did love Joey Joey was close that was the game plan yeah but you know when when these guys are are flip-flopping sides during these wars and these murders I mean and that Tommy you know becomes I think he had made in about 87 and then he gets elevated up to a skipper I think about 94 y about 98 he becomes the acting boss of the Columbo family right well he became the acting boss but they got word that Wild Bill was trying to move trying to well they well I it really wasn't word was they were what they were doing was trying to put Wild Bill as the uh under boss of the Columbo family because they were trying to sew both sides of the family together and build the strength up but what they feared was pero was in jail and then alons was supposed to be home he got caught with a with a gun case he was going to go back to jail in Florida right and then they didn't trust while bill they said if he takes over the family's going to switch back over to the arena so and so they had a meeting they met him at the park and uh they end up taking him back to an apartment and and killing him because they they didn't trust that his faction or the family would control the family while the persos were gone so the details of that uh we'll get into a little bit because I know per like you said personally firsthand um Tommy shots call from at the apartment and Dino was hiding behind the door and when he walked in they shot him in the head and you know to get gruesome with it uh he was still alive and then Joey caves hit him in the head with a sledgehammer this is how gruesome this crew was that's what I'm trying to tell you this is a a gruesome [ __ ] crew listen it's part of the life I'm good friends with his with his son you know shout out to I'm talking about Wild Bill son and you know he's good guy and you know we're not in that life but during that life this is the treachery back and forth there is no loyalty honor and it especially in our day that's why guys didn't talk because there was so much shooting and killing going on right and you know when they try to hit scarper you know while Bill and them triy to hit scarper in front of his house with his daughter her in the car that's a no no I was surprised at that you know who knows if he knew she was in the car cuz she was a kid maybe they didn't know and they they unloaded on him and he got shot in the eye and and there's a different year of guys guys could say he was a rat this that and the other thing he was another tough son of a [ __ ] he went in the house got a gun with a bullet in his eye bullet I think he got hit twice somewhere in his body got yeah and he went out just killed an associ they just grab somebody and kill him but I'm saying this is what I mean about how dangerous those columbos were in the '90s but I'm saying as we moved on like we were saying the Joey caves and these guys they were [ __ ] gruesome and they would you know the stories that he was telling me you know it reminded me of like not Roy the May crew but similar you know I mean they were putting guys in holes dragging them out with meat hooks you know uh cuz they had to move the body and he would telling me he stuck the hook in him and the gases were coming out it stunk and you know it was just wild [ __ ] that you don't hear about no more you know what I mean it was just well the thing about these guys also for people don't know or don't really follow this genre in the early '90s to about 93 when Joey scope was the last guy to get hit right the the Columbo fames a disarray cuz guys are getting hit left and right I think it was about 12 14 murders in total right and then the killing was supposed to stop and then these guys took over and started cleaning house of people that they didn't trust people they thought weren't loyal they were trying to put the crews together instead of the because the crew actually clumber family uh end up being three different factions with Andrew Russo we haven't talked about mush that took over as one of the boss and I believe he was a relative to was his cousin um and you know the crazy thing is after they killed Wild Bill everybody knew that he went to the meeting and disappeared you know what I'm saying so what up happening is as I know personally they told me he told me they went to Wild Bill guys and said you know you're with us now they stole all his guys everything and the guys were so scared well guys fall in line they fell right in line you know it's like when Gotti took over from after the hit of castalano everybody falls in line because you know you got to remember especially in in ethic the the rules of the mob is this when your boss calls for you you come in if you don't come into that meeting you're going you're done so but they're scared to come in if they're bucking the new regime so they don't Buck it they just fall on line right they don't have the ability to fight them back or they're not looking to fight them back they're not looking to put around guys five or 10 guys together because then you got to go to the mattresses start killing back and forth but I want to leave something else as a funny note and it's not really funny uh there was a young priest uh a priest a nun excuse me that came from Brazil that when they tried to they went on a hit Tommy shots went on hit she got hit they kill her by accident now he wasn't he was around the corner so he didn't know what was exactly going on that was a and they and they end up shooting and uh hitting him in the legs but the not not Tommy hit another guy in the legs but she got hit in the chest I know and Tommy's Dino used to tell him you're going to hell and he felt guilty about the woman Tommy shots didn't feel guilty because she was was a nun yeah and it bothered him and but he really had no involvement in that you know people you hear people say he was involved in a botched hit and they took off he really wasn't yeah and uh she ends up getting blasted you know uh yeah and even you know like you said about the treachery and the crew they had a best friend named Richie um that was their best friend uh Joey caves and bigo is this the guy that was trying to retire he was asking for not not not retire he was basically what happened was um they used to Rob ranks together everything you know they doing bank robberies the guy was like a legit tough guy out of the area and supposedly what I was told by Joey is that the reason why Dino was pushing for him to get killed because Joey Dino was sleeping with his girlfriend see this is what I'm trying to say snake [ __ ] and then made it look like he was oh we think he's a rat kept pushing pushing he said to Tommy we got to kill him we got to kill him and Joey caves kept saying why we shouldn't kill him the guy's good like don't kill him and Dino was a captain though and went to Tommy shops kept pushing for the murder and then they had they pushed for it and then uh they L him downstairs Tommy shops was sitting at the table they told me little Dino says I'm going to get a cup of coffee went around behind them shot him in the back of the head and then they had the [ __ ] Joey cave said he was such a big guy that it took like four of them to move the body and by the way it was the porn guys it was a father and son they tried to hit they hit the son he got blasted in chest with the shotgun the father took off didn't know the nun that's what was Pina whatever their last name was Pini or Perina or something like that and they he ran up the stairs the woman was out hanging shirts right they BL that the the father ends up getting hit in the legs but she got blasted in the chest that's that's how it was a a botched hit right the father but actually not completely botched because the son does get hit the father does they were huge in the porn business at that time right so these are some you know guys don't understand a lot of these guys aren't the brightest guys around right so so you know when they just shoot randomly like this it's you know well the Columbo war was there was like a street gang almost when was going on they were like the Bloods at they were operating like gang members they were walking around with grenades bro but then for the people that don't know there was people cooperating left and right and riding yeah they was scared and yeah they were scared and then the family got dismantled for a while and they tried to put it back for Johnny they were [ __ ] terrified everyone's getting sent for they don't know who's on what side what's going on Jo they said Joey goes bro you know un us we didn't know who was going to be getting hit everybody didn't know who was like on what side that's that's what I'm talk about the treachery you're all of a sudden you're on your side you're playing for the Yankees now you're switching Yankees are playing Boston and tomorrow he's wearing a Boston uniform I mean so when people are on the outside tweeting away and and writing nonsense you signed up for this no you signed up supposedly in the belief of the Loyalty not the treachery you believed in the your brothers you know saves your life not your brother shoots you in the back of the head and that's the reality of this this life right it isn't the Loyalty cuz there is completely none and if any of these people had to walk into a house where they're cousin or their brother or their partner that you like every day you're coming in to eat ice cream and you walk in the house and your partner turns around or your cousin your brother and goes sorry I had to or they would to kill me and boom you get shot in the head there's nothing so when you're typing they don't get this part of the world because they're not involved in they don't understand they don't understand people looking on the outside looking in think it's cool they don't understand like the realness that was going on in those eras [ __ ] were getting killed left and right and you know like I says we're elaborating right now we're talking about the most violent crew they just killed their best friend for no reason Richie was their best friend think about their best friend they shot him back of the head for no reason well you they got there's so many incidents and then by the way when the Kini uh brothers were killed there's another guy that I know that went and on Skate either you know so you know there's more murders behind this and later on Waverly goes away I believe for uh he just got out he got shot too wely during the war well he got shot with those three guys that was early I think that was in the 70s when he takes that gun away absolutely and shoots one of those gu I don't know how actually how do you belly shoot somebody and have your arms close enough for him to pull a gun from you and kill you so you know whoever he did that to the guy deserve not that I'm advocating for but pretty stupid to get close to somebody when you got a gun he just belly shot up she should have kept shooting him but you know so but Waverly also played both sides during the during those murders and they were hot that they these the can Brothers hit the wrong person but they were only given a last name they weren't told that there was a father was also in that office building so right on their behalf I mean that could happen to anybody why didn't you tell them there was a father also in that in that office not just the prosecutor right he was a clerk I believe from one of the judges to fall right so but you have and then you had senseless murders you know now we go to this one and you know with that crew um a guy was robbing cars for them okay his name was carine and uh he was like 21 years old and he was robbing cars for big Deo and them and the word got around that he screwed them over on $200 look $200 and Joey caves went to Big Dino goes you know he's went around telling people they R for $200 Joey and bigo goes kill him and they killed him for $200 they buried him in the junkyard and they [ __ ] over 200 and Joey goes you know that was one I really didn't want to do he goes you know there was no need to kill him he goes you know this guy's playing God now he has me kill a guy for $200 you can beat him up a little bit for $200 $200 they blew met Joey CES call from the junkyard shot him in his head right there in front of and buried him in the junkyard by the way our controller is behind the camera he's coughing away but he doesn't have Co if any of you guys are scared of Co we're not worried about it but you know you know what something like that is senseless you know yeah so you lot of this stuff sensor that the people don't get but here's here's another murder and two guys go to with their friend they go out to dinner and I believe they went to a show and they they got their their girlfriends with them or wives after they drop off now they were all best friends after they drop off uh the W the woman they tell them they got to stop somewhere the two guys together go in the house come back out he's sitting in the car the other buddy and they kill him they take him and they bury him and they go out two days later the wife's asking you know do you know what happened to my husband he said no we dropped them off he said that he was going to go stop it you know somewhere before we dropped just and anyway that's This Is The Life know they actually going to dinner they're all best friends and they drop them off the women's they were kissing their wies night my you know they go inside they they say hello to their kids hi and they call him uncle and and they kill the guy it was like no EMP no one had I'll be honest with you I live I was the same way as these people and he was at one point too we had no empathy towards a human because we were living that that life we thought that was the way you supposed to be you understand so it's didn't now it change but when you're living that way you were vicious Johnny I was a vicious dude but I'm saying we had no empathy towards humans you know what I'm saying and bad guys when they told us to do something we're doing it yeah you know what I'm saying it's just what the way the life was you know what I mean so now that we look back on it it was horrible as I'm telling you these stories I could personally tell you Joey cave is one of the best guys I ever met he was a real gangster big Dina was flipping on him first that's why he went bad Joey okay he was a real tough guy I I swear I never met a guy as brutal and tough as he is he's a noons guy and I'm going to be honest with you he says Jean he goes these guys turned me into way worse than what I was this guy was playing God ordering murders left and right for no reason well for the people don't understand a guy like Joey you're in no man's land now right you know because you're already killing you're already involved you can't just walk away or you're getting killed right so there's a lot to it and it was like shots shots thought he was going to go retire he was going to go move to Florida he was younger still you know he was planning his retirement he had uh he had the Joker poker machines and all kinds of places he had money coming in from everywhere and then he got friendly with a guy basil who was a nickel and dime drug dealer from you know nothing big and brail brail gave him Jerry or Jerry and and he's the one that actually you know gave him up and and testified against you know they killed one of big Dino's Brothers they were laying on the guy they thought that they did that did it yeah um because they the big Doo one of their brothers got killed in a cab uh whoever someone killed them whatever and they were laying on the guy who did it and Joey actually you know Joey knew the guy didn't do it and Joey went to him and says listen before hand you come outside we're killing you don't come out the house and you better take off the guy moved took off and left the state you know what I'm saying so Joey did the right thing Joey goes listen he goes I'm a killer I killed six people at the time he goes I like the guy goes I knew he didn't do it they were blaming him we got crash CS we got everyone this guy's dead it's your out he goes I told him the day before you come outside you're off the map he goes you better leave and the guy took off out the state you know what I mean I mean it's only listen it's a treacherous light it's about money even when when when Bill gets killed Wild Bill gets killed they threaten the family they're looking for money he supposed he has a million and a half somewhere hidden in a in a in a stove or something and you know they never find it but they're threatening the family because they want the money on top of everything else you got the guy's life now you want the money right and you know so this is the world that you know we're talking about and we you're talking about these Crews that are very active so you know a lot of these you know these obviously Modern Day stuff they don't have a clue about this they don't have a clue what it is when you're talking guys are blasting away and these cameras are all over the streets and all over you there's GPS on phones there's GPS all over there there satellite you know images there a there's no way in these times that's why these guys don't have consequences of their actions right you know years ago you ever put your hand on another made guy you're getting killed and if and if an outsider puts their hands on them they're dead but now you can beat the [ __ ] out of one no one them I know about it believe me I know nothing's happen nothing's happening so guys um I just want we wanted to touch on that because uh that's really the last violent crew of organized crime that was really operating like the old school guys that were in the modern day they end up copping out to I believe 11 or 12 murders um they were killing like crazy they were they took the unions they took over the whole they were basically taking the family and they end up their downfall was I believe 2008 and then big Dino cooperated Joey caves and them you know all cooperate and then um uh that was the end of that that that that crew hey I want to read something and and we're talking about murder I'm going to go right off this into something positive I was driving in my car here in Tampa by the way I want to shout out to the uh what is that called uh take five you sent me too I want to say hello to those guys great guys I went there for
