hey welcome to the AMD installation center you know this is where the magic happens but it's more than magic actually it's a lot of dedicated hard work we did the car the other day it's a famous car it was televised but you know what you haven't seen everything that happened to the car and in this little short video that's what we want to show you the deal is the video was shot in time-lapse so what I'll do is voice-over and coach you through the operations because it happens pretty quick but this thing comes from the rails to the roof and one short video I hope you enjoy it you know every story has a beginning and what better place to start our story an automated direct warehouse we're in the parking lot kind of getting a visual the outside of the building this thing has a ton of parts in it the project that we're going to put together is going to need a ton of parts now we're inside of the customer area place but this is the warehouse they have so many parts in here that it makes it so easy to rebuild these muscle cars today it's nothing like it used to be so let's have a look at the project that we're actually going to get our hands on came in on a freight truck came in on a little pallet here it is it's shrink-wrapped it is a famous Barracuda we've seen it on television but you haven't seen it look like this what we'll do is cut off the shrink-wrap and show you the car was in a horrific accident the last people cut the rails off the car and this is what was delivered to AMD down at Auto metal direct and then we took it up to the AMD installation center and rebuilt the car and that's the story we want to tell the day the deal is it's all shot in time-lapse but as we go through it let me walk you through every aspect of it but here you can see the firewalls collapsed into the middle and so let's just take this down and get it ready to go up to the AMD installation Center and perform that magic now as we go down the warehouse what I want you to look at is the depth of field and as we photograph this going down we're going to keep pushing the camera and so you can watch it kind of bobble its way down there hopefully it's looking itself down the aisles selecting parts which is what we're going to do we're going to shopping for the car but what I wanted to give you as you're looking at the video from our perspective here is just how immense is warehouse is again it's just thanks to Auto metal direct for their dedication to this industry and building all of these parts so we can rebuild these cars and that's one of the stories I want to talk about rebuilding versus rebodied everyone said what going to do is take that car and cut the VIN numbers out and put them in another car but we didn't do that when you look at the warehouse and the size of it we actually had enough parts to rebuild the car we did retain pieces out of the car and that way what we did was wound up with an authentic 1971 barracuda there it is resting by itself normally the datum would pick up the front and the rear rails I'm on the torsion bar crossmember and the rear rails what we're going to do is harvest as much of this car as possible put it together now we're going to integrate it with some good used parts which would give it all Mopar and then finish it off with the icing on the cake which is that AMD sweet metal okay so here we go let's build the car see the parts carts loaded and the first thing you saw was we took the front frame rails with a torsion bar crossmember and set them up on our fixture now these are real rails out of another car we did use those but they're independent but they are Mopar and now we have the rear rails down in the car looking at the fixture and what we've done we're applying weld through primer that's the under seat pan that's the main floor pan we welded the car down on the table to keep it from moving we use the firewall to locate the main floor so with the main floor located on to the firewall and all the rails into the car and you see the under seat pan see the trunk pan right there weld through primer man I wish I could work that quick okay notice what they did when they built the car also is the floor pans are laid from the front to the back which is exactly what we've done here the laps all work correctly this way we have the inner foot wells and we have the inner rockers for the car again if you notice we love weld through primer because it just adds that layer of protection end of the car now the inner rocker will welder the floor this allows us to build a car exactly the way it was done at the factory the braces are welded onto the inner rockers and rockers welded to the floor now we can go ahead just go to like that welder slow myself down I'm with you I'm watching what's happening of the car here it's a great view this is what you didn't get to see in the televised edition is this car built literally from the ground up how can we do it look at the table it's the datum fixture now you notice when we started the photo that we had the roof inner structure all relocated over the table but we had to set another car up there to do that and get us the right measurements to do it normally we build a car a little differently than this but this is a desperate case but because we know how to do it and we know what we doing we were able to do it now what I have here is the rocker assemblies out of the original car and I don't normally build a car this way but harvesting the parts from the real car that was necessary for authenticity of this car so we have the outer rocker we have the hinge pillar post and we have this door jamb to the car and they'll come in there in one blow this is cool because what it does it's going to allow us again to pick up the firewall to the floor and locate everything where it's supposed to go and that's the deal when you're rebuilding everything back in the right place because when I'm done with this car I want the door to shut on it just like you do a couple of quick measurements make sure the high-threat and there's a firewall in one blow one thing you're going to notice is we use a heck of a lot of clamps before we weld anything here we are at the next phase the weld up what we've done is we've installed the original rockers hinge pillar post up there and door jamb back here then we put the wheel houses and the quarter panels on the car along with the doors to make sure everything was going to work real happy door gaps look good profiles look good so what we're going to do is we're going to weld the main floor to the firewall and weld the rockers into the car and weld the upper cowl on the car after that I can go ahead and set up the inner fenders and they're ready to support finishing the front of the car then we'll move the back of the car we're waiting for you to come down here and do this with us so we get the wheel houses drop-offs quarter panels tail panel deck fill in the roof on the car sounds easy but we'll do in about a day let's get to work I want you to look at the floor because here's what we're looking at the joint from the floor to the firewall has to be driven into position to make it profile correctly let's get in the car and have a look as you're looking at the way the floor and the firewall profile together and by that I just mean lined up it's difficult in a Chrysler car to do it because they're both flanged the last reference I made waiting for you to come down and look at the car that was for someone else that was supposed to show up in the shop but never could quite make the time so now we're up at the firewall I've got the upper Cal in place we'll go ahead and weld all that together again you see this thing's clamped up now we're going to see some clamps because we have the capability to weld the complete inner fender to the firewall brackets all the way around the upper shock mount and right down the frame rail and up the radiator support you look at the way the car is built and I'm telling you this is how it was built at the factory lap wise seem wise spot weld wise skip welds to the roof it's going to spend the car around we're going to hang the front sheet metal on the car and there it is hope you enjoyed it James Bond Oh couldn't have did it any better
