hi welcome to this video this is going to explain some of the most miss played hands and blackjack now where am i basing this strategy off of so in this example this video is going to focus only on a certain table rule variation so this is going to be a double deck game meaning there's only two decks being played the dealer is going to stand on all 17s now standing all Seventeen's is going to give the player a slight advantage there are some tables where the dealer may have a soft 17 where it's an ace and a six and they have to keep dealing now in that situation the house gets a slight advantage over the player so this video is going to deal only with the variations of dealer stands in all 17s and remember we're doing a two deck game also this real strategy is going to factor in that there is no surrender allowed at the table so let's go over our first hand here the what's the more common miss played hands in the game so the player has a pair of sevens against a dealer six what are you going to do well of course you're going to split them so you're going to split sevens against a six however what if you're in this situation except this time the dealer has a seven so I've seen this play a few times on its own again basic strategy is going to say split him now where am I getting this basic strategies it's just some random made-up basic strategy out there no this is going to be based on the wizard of odds he's an actuary who is now a full-time gambling expert I trust his opinion he's a mathematician who has gone through and found the strategy for optimal blackjack results now another video of mine is going to explain the various table variations and how they affect your odds as a player but remember in this situation where we're doing a two deck shoe along with dealer standing on 17 it would be advantageous for the player to split their sevens now you have a pair of sevens against now let's say an eight what are you going to do in this situation so a pair of against an 8 you're you're going to have to look at the table rules here if you can split your sevens and double down after you split your sevens so like let's say you draw a 4 here and you're able to double that that now 11 then is a situation where you can split your sevens but let's say splitting and then doubling is not allowed so after you split you can't double so if you get a 4 you're still not able to double so for example if the Health says you cannot double this after a split you don't want to split those zones however you would just treat it like a normal hard hard 14 against an 8 which says you would hit it so remember that scenario and then finally what happens if you're playing against a dealer 9 do you want to split those 7s never you never want to split sevens against a dealer 9 now would just be throwing money away you want to treat it like a hard 14 you're going to take a hit and hope for another setting for example so again this is one of the common most missed played hands I've got 9 more comin at you all right combination number two you now have an ace seven against the dealer three up what are you going to do in this situation well in this in this particular scenario what basic strategy says to do is you want to double that so you'll take yet another card against a dealer three what happens if for example this was a 2 up would you want to take another card well it would be no is the simple answer you just want to stand on your 18 but a 3 a 4 a 5 or a 6 you want to double down take that extra card because in the long run this will give you the best odds against the house for our next hand player has an h2 against a dealer for up what's your play here well basic strategy is going to tell you you just want to take a hit on this now however what if I switch my card out and we're facing a dealer 5 what do you want to do with an ace 2 against a 5 this would be a good time that you would want to double because this is a higher bust card than the 4 was so in this scenario on a 2 deck shoe with the dealer staying on soft 17 you'll want to double against a dealer 5 so this hand is not a miss miss played hand very often you'll always want to double a 9 against a 5 however what about against a 4 well yeah you still want to double a 9 against a 4 so that brings us to our next scenario the more the more miss played hand here that I've seen what do you do with a hard nine against a two well in this situation you'll want to double down and take that extra card because when you're playing a two deck shoe basic strategy says hard nine against a to double down all right player you've now got an ace five against a dealer three what action should you do now when against and when you're when you have a soft 16 against dealer 3 well you'll want to do is you'll just want to take a hit here however in a scenario where it's an ace 5 against a four five or a six that's when basic strategy card says you don't want to double with a four five or six but if you're just looking at a three you'll just want to take a hit here's another hand that I've seen miss played you have a pair of fives against a dealer six now I've seen it before where the player will split this in a couple crummy cards the dealer makes a miraculous 21 in this scenario if you ever have a pair of eyes I don't care if it's a 2 3 4 5 6 what you do is you always double you never want to split your fives under no scenario now it's kind of opposite you'll never split your fives under any scenario here but you'll always split your aces and you'll always split your eights so those are the kind of three easy pair hands so always split eights always split aces never split your fives there are no scenarios under basic strategy that it says it would be advantageous for you to get rid of a 10 hand I don't care if it's a 2 3 4 5 or the most likely to bust card which would be a 6 never split your fives okay player you've now got another hand you've got a pair of fours against a 4 what should you do in this situation remember we never split fives but there are some scenarios where we split fours when you're when you have an 8 against a 4 you just want to take a hit you do not want to double in this scenario let's say you get a 3 and what else so you keep drawing however in the in this scenario you will just take a hit what if the dealer up card is a 5 however a pair of force I know it's only an 8 but you'll you'll want to split your fours in this scenario if the dealer has an up card five or a six view will split your fours and take some more cards five or six split fours fours against a four just hit it like a normal eight here's another scenario you have your your eleven against a dealer face card what would you do what play should you do instinct says to double and that would be right in this scenario there is only a 4 out of 13 chance that the dealer has a 10 under they've already looked there's no ace so we know that it's not a 21 so there is a 4 out of 13 chance that they have a face card down you have a good chance of making money on this double so always double an 11 against a face card now how about in the scenario where dealer has an ace up so again we're going to look at our hand I do not have 21 player what would you like to do in this situation you'll also want to double your 11 always double and 11 against no matter what the dealer has make sure that it's not a blackjack before you throw the money out there but always double your 11 no matter what card the dealer has here's another hand that doesn't go with gut feelings so you have a hard 12 against a dealer - what does basic strategy tell you to do in this situation well basic strategy here says that you should hit you shouldn't double you should just take a hit now I've seen people stay against a 2 it makes sense in a way because if this is a face card and they have some random comment if they have a 12 and they bust out however again this is to maximize your odds this is based on The Wizard of Oz website make sure you don't go with your gut feeling your gut feeling does not beat probabilities and statistics so a 12 against 2 to always hit what about in this situation you have a hard 12 against a dealer 3 again you'll want to take a hit you do not want to stay on this one again gambling is always going to be in the house edge unless if you're counting but if you're not going to be card counting and you want to play with some money unless if you just are willing to write a check to the casino and say here take my money you might as well give yourself the best advantage that you can against the house always hit a hard 12 against a three now there is one more situation that I want to go over what about a player 13 against a 2 you'll want to stay against the three you'll want to stay but 13 against a to stay 12 against a to hit 12 against a three hit yet another missed play at hand that I've seen in the casino by players what do I do with a pair of 9s which is a total of 18 against a dealer 7 what does strategy tell you to do here against a 7 basic strategy is going to say do not do anything just stand with an 18 now why is that well it's because if I have a 10 here then you win if I have an ace here we push there is no first cars that I can flip that is going to beat you you'll either win with with a 10 or push with an ace however 18 is going to be 17 always stand now what about this situation what if you what if you split you can get some terrible card combinations and you're out $50 against a 17 so you would have won that hand originally so let's let's let's do another scenario here instead of a dealer up 7 what about a dealer up 8 so you have nines against an 8 and you know what since I showed you that card let's just give them a random new card that'll get rid of any emotions about that 17 or that 15 so you have an 18 against an 8 what do you do in this scenario wizard of odds is going to say you'll want to throw that extra green chip out there now you have 50 bucks on the table and you'll want to split especially if you can double after spell but even if you can't double after splitting you'll want to take that extra card against an eight now what about pair of nines against a nine what do you want to do let's cover that up just get rid of these against a nine house says throw that extra green out there and split those nines against a nine you're hoping for a push hand maybe it'll get a two maybe I'll get an ace if you get that - you'll want to double you get that ace then you can't be beat on this flip at least so pair of nines against a nine split against an eight split against a seven stand and again against a 10 or an ace you'll just want to leave your 18 if dealer's showing a 10 or if dealer's showing an ace don't like those nines don't be stupid now we've gone through a lot of different scenarios here today and I do want to emphasize you don't have to memorize all of this you just have to be smart enough to carry around a player's card with you that's going to tell you what to do you can throw this right up against against the rail there by the casino you can throw your chips on it whatnot but casinos will allow you to have a basic players card on the table they just want to allow you to have a wallet or your phone or anything electronic that could be influencing the game or anything accounting related however a basic strategy card piece of paper casinos even in Las Vegas will allow you to put this on the table now don't be intimidated when you're sitting down at a table with the basic card that has the rules of the game on it and everybody's kind of looking at you pretending like you're an amateur I've been to probably 40 different casinos and I have memorized this however when I have a few drinks in me and when I say a few drinks I mean when I'm really toasted and pretty sloppy I'll always throw this on the table even though I know it and my gut feeling says oh I should split those nines against the seven I'll take a look at my card I don't care how drunk I am I will go on my card because this is going to give me the best edge if I start deviating and playing based on my hunch and my gut feelings that's when you just need to just give all your chips you need to do this and say I'm not clearing up I'm donating these chips to you casino because I obviously don't want to actually win I just want to throw my money away so here take it take it regardless just keep giving me free drinks here's probably 500 600 700 probably $900 worth of chips I just want you to take it so remember this is your best friend I have I have my scenario cards I keep in my wallet based on the the table variation here so I'm going to get rid of the chips so we can actually see what the table rules are I don't care what the minimum maximum is if I'm playing $50 a hand versus $10 a hand I'll play the exact same way you look at what does the dealer going to do on 17 if they've got a soft 17 here I'm at a table where you stand however a lot of the lower limit tables the dealer is going to hit a soft 17 because that's going to increase the edge but what I want to do is I want to find my table so this is a two shoe this is a stand on 17 or I hit on 17th and stand on 17 so I'll always split up to what table I'm at and play to give myself the best edge again I'm here to win Atticus you know also how to have fun but if I'm just going to throw random chips away I might as well just give it to them upfront and not even play the game so remember basic strategy car guides will help you even if you're the best player in the world and have memorized this I recommend once you have a few drinks in you this becomes even more of your best friend you
