TINY ROD CATCHES GIANT FISH Out of a Small Ice Hole

and it's snowing negative three i think negative three degrees fahrenheit yes but now we met up with big d and uh we spent the night at his house and we drove out up to the mountains now we're on this lake we're not i'm on a lake right now on frozen ice we got all the gear out here we finally got the tent set up and now we're going to start doing some ice fishing [Music] so [Music] [Music] right there you're good the snow is deep oh man at least a foot of snow hey oh there you go that's some thick ice oh don't pull it on the bottom oh that's a fish there yeah so we sent the transducer down so we can check the depth and see if there's any fish activity down there um looks like it's about 14 15 feet deep so not too deep but it looks like there might be some fish so we might do the spot all so we won't have too much time to fish today maybe just a few hours but it's all right we're staying at an airbnb right here just on the on the lake so we're going to be heading out early tomorrow morning and we're going to catch these fish see yeah why is he not taking it there is there is there is see it see the big red yeah he's there but he's not interested damn he's gone bro come back come back all right guys well we tried for a couple hours no bites today but that's all good we're gonna go grab some beers now because there are a ton of breweries around here colorado's dope anyways i trout and big d says he thinks that one was probably about 50 years old wow that's an old fish uh we want to get one to harvest so we want to catch a smaller one uh we can't harvest that one those are two that's two uh too big we gotta let those go and uh yeah but we wanna make some i wanna make some chowder just to warm us up with the trout that we catch lake trout or it could be other fish too any any fish that we can keep uh and then we'll get that going so we can get warmed up because it's cold out here man right now it's probably about 10 degrees fahrenheit i would guess five degrees five degrees fahrenheit right now so yes it is cold but the reel was just like straight up falling off and i just hold it on there [Music] well guys after i caught that big big lake trout we haven't had any other fish we haven't caught anything else and it's been hours and it's lunchtime now it's about noon so i'm starving we're hungry so i'm gonna get some uh chowder cooking just warm us up i was gonna make some fish chowder with the fish we caught but we haven't got anything else just uh just that one so yeah we'll still make it and maybe one of these guys will catch while i'm cooking and if we can just add it to the chowder if they do i got onion carrots celery and i also have some canned corn i have heavy cream and as well as i got some coconut milk too and some thyme we're just gonna toss that all together make some chowder all right i'm gonna start with some butter geez this thing is frozen thanks chef taiko for coming out yeah thanks for having me good luck get one let's get one got 30 minutes cheers guys these carrots are frozen too [Laughter] got to get in my stance my wide leg stance oh thank you perfect height they've been emailing me about the show beat bobby flay you can't turn sushi in south into southwest there we go we got carrots and onion going in that's okay celery going in it smells really nice so we got a little bit of top so yeah if you take these off and just run your fingers backwards though these little guys will come off i'm gonna put the coconut milk next to it heat it up a little all right so we're gonna wait for that to kind of um cook down a little bit get a little tender and then we're gonna add some corn just some canned corn uh no big deal we don't have you know corn and seasoned so this is the best we got and we're gonna add some heavy cream we're gonna add some coconut milk it's like a half and half but instead of half cream half milk it's half cream half coconut milk a little bit more flavor that way so just realized i forgot we don't have any salt but dee brought these uh yy noodles and this has little packets flavoring packets right and they're really salty so we're gonna use this as the salt oh yeah that's good all right well let's just do it let's go for it [Music] i'm gonna put this one into the oil the palm oil all right coconut milk going in i'm just gonna put the whole can in pretty much frozen all right that's good i'm gonna cover the pot let's let this uh coconut milk you know let's check this out see how it's doing it's bubbling there we go let me just show these boys how it's done cooking and i'm going to catch one right here just cook check it out oh yeah that's looking good i'm gonna catch a fish three two one i'm just kidding i'm gonna add some heavy cream now oh and imagine a little bit of a fish in here i think that would've been good all right let's get into this we are freezing here the wind picked up so it is so cold right now so this is perfect time to have a little chowder how's it wow that's some simple ingredients there wow that warms our soul yeah yeah yeah whoa imagine a little bit of lake trout in there it would probably be good but this is good on its own yeah don't be shy grab your chowder all right let's do the last cheerish too huh yeah go come on in come on it's a wide lens right yeah yeah cheers [Music] all right let's try this chowder um it is so
