I would like to ask our Usher's to help us out and pass out the handouts for tonight so very very quickly Usher's if you would help us just move throughout these sections and pass out these handouts we've got one for you tonight we're beginning a series tonight called high calling everyone say high calling I have been looking forward to this series I have been praying about this series and I'm really anticipating the Lord speaking to us and I want to encourage you first of all thank you for being here on this Wednesday night but in the months of September and October we are going to be considering the subject of holiness here in our church on our Wednesday evenings with a few exceptions being our small group nights but please don't miss a Wednesday night in September and October they really are going to be good sessions and I have prayed that God would give us understanding of his word there is a unique placement of furniture in the Old Testament tabernacle and you will notice if you do any study of that Old Testament Tabernacle found in the Bible that on the left-hand side of the holy place is an article of furniture called the table of showbread it has an unusual spelling in one version of the Bible it is spelled SH e WB re ad it's almost like shoe bread but for terms of understanding we call it sho bread it's bread that's on a table every article every piece of furniture every substance of that Tabernacle had not only a literal but a symbolic meaning and that that Bread on that table is symbolic of the Word of God in fact that the Bible speaks of itself and in symbols like bread that is satisfying for our souls and then across the holy place from the table of showbread is the golden lampstand and that is also to light up that holy place but it also has a very powerful symbolic meaning and that is the light of the Holy Spirit and there is a very strong inference in that holy place in the tabernacle that the table of bread is lit and made useful by the golden lampstand in other words they work together this is why when you and I come together on a Wednesday night it's very important that we have the word everybody say the word this is why we encourage people to bring your Bible on a Wednesday night to church because it is substance for our soul it is food for our soul but we are not just word only people we are spirit people we need the illumination of the spirit on the word to bring understanding and so I believe that in the next couple of months on these Wednesday nights a couple of things will take place with God's help there will be revelation everyone say revelation revelation is when a truth of God's Word is exactly that revealed as though it's never been known before that's revelation but then without a doubt and I feel strongly about this there will also come in this church illumination illumination is something that has been understood but fresh insight comes that's illumination and I am praying that both of these will be working in the month of September and the month of October now you have a handout anybody not get a handout that needs a handout there's a couple of people right back here uh sure just look around if you would if we have other ones we can make sure they get those right keep your hands up Theresa I'm sorry thank you right back here ladies if you see someone and you have an extra one you can get those to them if you are the type of personality that likes to make sure every blank is filled in we're gonna make sure you're taken care of tonight so don't get bound by the handout I encourage you to grab a pen a pencil if you're the mother of a young child a marker or crayon and we're gonna fill in this handout together if we get through this teaching tonight and we don't have all of the blanks filled in you'll come up to me I'll make sure you get the blank filled in that you need unless I stop before I'm done tonight and that's a very real possibility you need to pray that the Spirit of the Prophet will be subject to the Prophet tonight I told pastor Nate I got a lot of material to get through but I pray the Lord will speak to us this evening now I have prayed over this series and I want to make a few introductory remarks so it will be just a little bit of time before we get to the outline but keep your Bible close if you would and keep that outline nearby one of the key words that you will hear often at this church is the word grow everybody say grow we all I believe should be endeavoring to grow in our understanding of God's Word we also I believe according to the scripture should be learning to grow in obedience to God's Word and then also grow in our faith we've just come through a great series on the great aid about adding things in our walk with God and that really is another word for growing we're adding what we're growing we're expanding and our understanding of our Christian walk and that is a very powerful thing that we emphasize here and I have to confess to you at the very outset of this series tonight that many times in my life I fall short in being holy like the Lord is holy I'm striving I'm deciding every single day but when I really take an inventory of my life there are many times and I don't think I'm alone in this tonight there are many times I look at my life and I think Lord I want to be so much more like you I want to act like you act and I want to talk like you talk and I want to be who you are and so I think we must come to this subject matter tonight with an honesty about where we are and a humility that we want to grow and we want to be more like the Lord I also am very thankful that we are in a great church tonight and I'm very thankful that we are in a safe search tonight you say how could you say that a safe church what do you mean by that pastor the things that we will talk about specifically in the month of September and October will challenge me and I believe they will challenge you and there will be people as we work through this hopefully all across the spectrum in understanding about these areas of holiness and I actually think that's a good thing I would hate if we as a church we're all at the same place at the same time because a couple of things would be in play if we found it to be like that either we are not encouraging any new people to come to the Lord or we're not teaching God's Word and I think it's important that we understand the safe place that New Life Church is as we teach through this and I'm going to just be honest and I'm gonna declare God's Word and hopefully in a spirit of humility to every one of us because I want to live by what I'm teaching I'm trying to live by what I'm teaching here tonight but I want you to know you're in a safe church tonight if you are here and you hear some things and it's maybe not exactly the way you're living your life there's nobody here gonna stand in front of you and belittle you or put you down because you're at a place where someone else might not be the key is are we growing to the next place where God has for us and I feel very very strongly about that there's a few words I want to bring to your attention as we begin this tonight three words in particular the first word is Christian everyone say Christian what I'm gonna be teaching is not everybody listen very closely these are not exclusively Pentecostal doctrines because holiness is not a Pentecostal doctrine holiness and everything comprised in that is a Bible doctrine it's very important that we understand that because if we can pigeonhole something to a certain denomination then all we have to do to not be following after what God wants for our life is to say we're not a part of that denomination but if we understand what is being taught in God's Word as God's Word then we must become accountable to that the second word is lifestyle what we're going to be talking about is not an exhaustive study of holiness that would take a very long time in fact I don't know if we could ever exhaust the study of holiness but these are things that are meant to be practiced in our life in our daily regular life not through intimidation but as a matter of discipline and that is the third word discipline does discipline push me at times yes if you don't think that's true join us in fasting tomorrow we'll see how quick discipline kicks in because I'm in this habit of eating I do it just about every day and so when I'm being stretched and when there is a discipline involved it will push me past my comfort zone many times but I will ask this question is it worth it absolutely it's worth it and so what I'm going to be teaching over the next several weeks are not prerequisites for church attendance here at new life in some aspects some of the things that I will teach are not prerequisites for certain involvements here at New Life Church some things are but they are taught as a response to the saving grace of God in my life when I consider what the Lord is asking of me and what the Lord is giving me and his word I pray we'll have a spirit that says Lord I want to follow your word I want to follow what you have to say you know me better than I know myself and so I'm gonna give myself to that and I think that kind of attitude is absolutely paramount to Christian living now let me also make a few other introductory remarks I have to tell you that holiness in my experience and just in the time that I've been in the ministry and hearing things and being a part of things at times unfortunately has been communicated in some settings in a very poor way I'm not gonna back down from this there are some beautiful truths that young people you will hear pastor teach on over the next few weeks and there are some beautiful understandings of why God asks certain things of us that are beautiful in their in their understanding but if they are communicated in a way that is caustic and communicated in a way that is beating people down I'm gonna tell you right now if you're and I know we're on the subject of fasting because we're going into a day of fasting tomorrow you know if you're hungry you don't have to be invited to go to the buff but neither do I want someone sitting right there at the buffet with me and forcing food down my mouth either what God does is gives us a whole Bible full of precious truths and principles and truths and and things inherent within the Word of God that are beautiful too in our understanding but I pray and this is where you can pray for me as a pastor and as a preacher that God will help me to be able to communicate them in a way that is very forthright and very loving and humble at the same time so I want you to turn to someone around you and say be honest with God listen chew on what I'm gonna teach take it home and think about it pray about it read the word that's why I give you handouts I'm not expecting you to walk out of here and say imma do that just because pastor says it know you got a Bible you've got a brain use both of them take those verses of Scripture they're in this outline let's look at it together let's work through it ask the Spirit of God to help us don't be ashamed don't be embarrassed we are in this journey together and I think it's good if we pray about that right now and ask God to speak to our hearts would you just honestly pray that with me right now Lord speak to us right now God we're humble before you we want to know what your word has to say so God open our understanding open the hearts of every teenager and every young adult and every elder every middle-aged person here god we really want to know what your word has to say to us God I'm coming as an open book and I'm asking your spirit to write upon my heart with your spirit god I thank you for that I'd give you the glory and I'd give you the honor in Jesus name and everyone would you say amen take your Bible please and turn with me to the book of second Corinthians chapter 6 the New Testament book of 2nd Corinthians chapter 6 this verse this passage is not in your notes so you can dribble that down in the margin if you want to second Corinthians chapter number six and we'll look at verse number fourteen Paul is the author he's writing to the church at Corinth and you've heard me say this before if you're a part of this church if you ever want to feel good about yourself read the book of first Corinthians and second Corinthians if you ever want to feel good about this church read the book of 1st Corinthians and second Corinthians because that church in Corinth had issues big time issues now every Church by the way can we make sure we understand every church has issues you get enough people you get two or three you get to get two people together you're gonna have an issue every once in a while but in the Corinthian church Paul was over and over writing to implore them to live for God put aside sin put aside pettiness and live for God look at the sixth chapter of second Corinthians and the fourteenth verse do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers for what Fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness and what communion has light with darkness and what Accord has Christ with Belial or what part has a believer with an unbeliever and what agreement has the temple of God with idols for you are the Temple of the Living God as God has said this is a quote from the Book of Leviticus and the Book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament as God has said I will dwell in them and walk among them I will be their God and they shall be my people therefore verse 17 it's a direct quote from the book of Isaiah chapter 52 come out from among them and be separate says the Lord do not touch what is unclean and I will receive you I will be a father to you and you shall be my sons and daughters says the Lord Almighty now keep reading to the first verse of chapter 7 therefore that's one of my favorite words in the Bible therefore is there for a reason because it refers to everything that Paul just wrote therefore because of everything I've just said having these promises beloved let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God now a couple of words I want to point out to you in that first verse of chapter 7 of second Corinthians he says therefore having these promises beloved who is he writing to he is writing to a New Testament Holy Ghost filled Jesus name baptized church and he is saying beloved born again of water and spirit let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of God and so holy living is a pursuit that every one of us should be on a process a lifestyle that every one of us should be seeking for as born-again believers now I want to reference a man who is mentioned in the book of Acts chapter number 6 his name is Nicholas and we're gonna get to the notes just hang tight I'm laying a little foundation here tonight in Acts chapter 6 verses three through five deacons are chosen in fact there were seven of them that were chosen to conduct the business matters of the church one of them was a man by the name of Nicholas but as we studied church history what we will find is that Nicholas had a devotion for the church that was very short-lived according to early writings in the church age Nicholas eventually back slid and he introduced his own doctrine to his followers and this doctrine came about really as a knee-jerk reaction to the legal some of the Judaizers of his day the Judaizers were those who were attempting to bring this New Testament church back under the Jewish law and it was a knee-jerk Doctrine that arose in Nicholas's life it abused the Apostle Paul's doctrine of grace that he was teaching to the New Testament church and it introduced a very false freedom into this early fledgling church so what Nicholas attempted to do was combat one extreme teaching with another extreme teaching now with that in mind I want to show you a verse of scripture look at the last book of the Bible Revelation chapter 2 and verse 6 Revelation chapter 2 and verse 6 Jesus is speaking to the church at Ephesus and he says this this you have that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans which I also hate skip down a few more verses to the fifteenth verse of Revelation chapter number 2 Jesus is now speaking to the church in Asia Minor in pergamus and he says thus you also have those in the church who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans which thing I hate now when we begin to study what it was that Nicholas began to teach we will find that he began to teach that though a Christian was saved by grace he or she could live like the world on the outside and still remain saved on the inside he attempted to that the Judaizers legalism of the day with swinging all the way to the other end of the spectrum and trying to correct one erroneous practice with another erroneous practice and brothers and sisters that will never work so much so that Jesus said this that doctrine I hate that doctrine now can I just stop here and say this it's one thing if brother Gaddy hates something and I try not to use that word hardly ever I don't know a whole lot of things I hate you know I don't like liver but I don't know if it's ever risen to hate level but it's another thing when God hates something God hated Jesus said this to the churches in Asia Minor that doctrine that it really doesn't matter I hate that doctrine and I'm gonna tell you right now folks I do not want to be a part of anything that Jesus hates I don't want to just with my own Liberty fall into an area where Jesus is looking at my belief system and saying you know what it looks like he's a good guy but I hate the doctrine he's espousing I want to say God what do you want for my life what does your word say and God I want to walk in that word even if it is counterintuitive to the culture I want to be true to the Word of God we have to be true all right let's look at the handout here you ready you excited you got your pens ready number one we're gonna talk about eight holding this principles here tonight and I've got about 20 or 25 minutes so we're gonna have to roll holiness is a synonym for withdrawal and separation holiness is a synonym for withdrawal or separation there's a big new testament word you can write out in the in the margin there it's the word sanctification whenever you see the word sanctification in the New Testament it is one of these synonyms that means withdrawal or separation now those of you that were here on Sunday we had a great missionary here with us what a great day we had with scott Carpenter a powerful powerful day and he got up in the very first thing out of his mouth before he ever started preaching or telling stories and testify was he talked about God being a separate God and I'm standing there on the front row and I'm thinking did he did he have a sneak peak on what I'm gonna teach on Wednesday night because this is the first thing in the outline here if we on understand holding this for what it really is the high calling that it is we have to understand first of all that it is a synonym for withdrawal and separation in your notes first Peter 5 and 16 Peter says but as he which hath called you is holy so be holy in all manner of conversation when you look at the original word conversation in the New Testament King James Version you will find the synonym of conduct or lifestyle it's not simply referring to what we say that's conversation but he said be holy in all manner of conduct or lifestyle and here's the reason why because it is written be holy for I am holy that's Leviticus chapter 11 and verse 45 the Lord is my object of holiness the reason why I want to be holy in my lifestyle today is because God is holy I don't want to be holy just to approve or have someone approve of me I don't want to be holy just to join a church I don't want to be holy just to put my name on a role somewhere I want to be holy because the word says he is holy and he calls us to be holy like he is holy he says I'm separate I'm separate from every other God in your notes the Hebrew word Kadesh and the Greek word Hagia sunay which are the words for holiness mean withdrawal withdrawal that's the Hebrew word and the Greek word New Testament Old Testament for holiness therefore scholars define holiness to mean separate or a part but please notice this being holy does not only mean withdrawing from something but it means withdrawing unto something folks God doesn't call us to be holy in an unholy world just to make us different that's not the purpose of holiness the purpose of holiness is not to make us just stick out but he calls us out from something separate from something so we may be separated unto something this is very important that we understand this there's Old Testament proof of this here's what the Lord said the seventh day that's a day of rest you keep it holy you sanctify it you set it apart it was a withdrawal from labor but a withdrawal unto devotion it was a separation from the normal activity of life but not simply so they could sleep all day but so they could be in the presence of Jehovah God the Articles that were found in that in the tabernacle in the in the wilderness they were not furniture and articles that were used for everyday activities in life they were separate from all the other furniture they were separate and withdrawn from every other piece of furniture every other goblet every other spoon every other fork you read it in the Old Testament they were separated from everyday use but not simply to be different they were separated to serve in the presence of God so to be separate to be holy is to be withdrawn from something so that I can be separated unto the Lord Hebrews 12 and 14 follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord I like to look at holiness in terms of a family I have a 17 year old son when he was a year-and-a-half old can you imagine if I would have walked up to his crib and said Landon how come the trash hasn't been taken out bud come on pull your weight around here you know why because as someone is just getting started in the family we don't have the same expectations for them as we do for everybody else and so as we grow listen as we grow we should become more holy when we're in the family longer we should become more like the Lord by the way I'll just make one disclaimer we're all still trying to be like the Lord we don't get a graduation diploma until they put us in the ground but oh what a graduation diploma that is we get to be with the Lord number two becoming holiness is a process which involves our whole lifestyle our whole lifestyle 1st Thessalonians 5 this is a hallmark passage here we'll reference this several times in this series Paul writes to the Thessalonians and says the very God of peace sanctify you wholly everyone say holy by the way that's not the same holy as hol why it's WH o ll why that means totally sanctify you separate you wholly I pray God your whole spirit soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ faithless he that calleth you who also will do it Paul in this passage is teaching very very important concepts number 1 sanctification is a process of maturing that takes place over time it's a maturing that takes place over time I don't want God to make me and help me to be holy in just a little bit I want it to be a whole work number 2 we are sanctified through God's power not our own all right now I'm gonna have you write something down here just met everybody pull your head up and look here pastor I cannot make you holy but the Holy Ghost can make you holy yeah by the way isn't it cool pardon the 80s reference there isn't it cool that God decides to give us his holy spirit ooh that just lumination for somebody right there no I thought the Holy Spirit was just so you could speak in tongues no no that's just the initial evidence he gives us His Holy Spirit so that hopefully it will begin to work in our lives to make us more holy revelation so we got to let it work you ever give those who've you been filled with the Holy Spirit you ever had those moments when you started to do something started to act in a certain way started to wear something started to behave in a certain way and the Holy Ghost inside of you it wasn't a man it wasn't your youth pastor it wasn't your senior pastor the Holy Ghost inside you went can just wave your hand at me real quick if that's ever happened to you I'll wave both of mine you know what that is that's the process of holiness trying to work in our life see we're made holy through God's power not our own power amen number three sanctification involves all three parts of man man's being spirit soul and body now let me let me just toss this out this is not in your notes and I promise you were gonna get through the rest of this but listen real closely Salvation this is not in your notes but just listen real close salvation is one of the most elastic words in the Bible if I say to you when were you saved you could say a date some of you would cat you know say a date back to me June for 1962 February 11th 1800 not quite that far back and that's true but do you know tonight I'm being safe because separation involves all three parts of man spirit soul body on July the 17th 1983 I was born again of spirit and my spirit was filled with God's Spirit salvation came in my spirit man and there is coming a day when the trumpet of God sounds and I don't believe it's going to be too much longer and I am going to be saved in my body because the Bible says that the dead in Christ shall rise first then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together to be in the with the Lord and we shall be changed my body is going to be changed and so in that moment I will be saved in my body I was saved in my spirit I will be saved in my body do you know according to verse Thessalonians sanctification is spirit soul and body soul is in my mind do you know when I am being saved in my mind right now because when I let the Holy Spirit of God work in my life dwell in my life speak in my spirit I am letting the thought of God be in my mind rather than my thoughts I'm letting his directive guide and direct I have been saved I will be saved but I am being saved right now that's what holiness is it's the saving of ourselves all throughout our lives does that make sense he wants us to be separated sanctified holy number three most issues in your notes most issues of holiness are not salvation issues however they are maturity issues but please keep reading only as we do not obey God in these areas does our willful disobedience become a Salvation issue now I'm will make a comment here in just a second let me fill in a few more blanks the battle for holiness or sanctification is won or lost in our minds on one side in this battle is our redeemed spirit directing us to do good we've been redeemed by the Spirit of God on the other side is our unredeemed flesh tempting us to do evil so when I reject the call to be holy listen that becomes an obedience issue now there are several verses of Scripture I'll let you read but I want to make this plain this way in in the ministry I've had people say this to me before sometime between when the earth was created and now so you can't figure out when it was pastor that issue right there is that a heaven or hell issue how many have ever heard anybody ask that question before is that a heaven or hell issue here's here's how I'll answer that my wife and I this December will be married 24 years and we've seen a lot of things happen in our marriage we've had really good days we've had tough days just like every other marriage perhaps in this room can you imagine about six months into our marriage if I was to wake up one Saturday morning and Stacey had already got up and I come in the kitchen and I say babe where's the coffee I don't smell the Tim Hortons coffee brewing no eggs hey come on and she asks me this question I'm gonna get in trouble for this I can tell her already I should have reversed the roles she asked me she says is making coffee and make an expert is that a marriage issue is that gonna be a deal-breaker for us if I don't do that for you because I would like to know Tim what is the marriage issue where's that line because I want to come right to that line and do no more because I want to know is that a marriage is that a marriage or unmarried now listen listen everybody look right here no healthy relationship is ever determined by minimums oh you can tweet that I just want to know pastor is that a heaven or hell sure if it's a heaven issue I'll do it if it's a hell issue or whatever if it's a hat I just want to know where's the line I don't want to do anymore well that lets me know there's a problem with the relationship right here because no healthy relationship is built on minimums I want to know just what I have to do that that gets us in problems right there folks know what do I get to do because I'm a child of God what is his words say well how can I please him with my life this is not a big cosmic struggle that just says god I just want to know the bare minimums that I have to do in order to be a Christian that's not what it's all about folks it's about yielding every part of my body every part of my soul every part of my spirit to him I don't see this in the Bible but I want to get to the place that if Jesus said you've got to go over in the corner on your head for two hours I don't know why he would ask that of me but I want to love him enough to say pardon me I've got to go stand on my head for two hours he must if he asks it of me there must be a good reason why my Saviour would ask that of me he's not trying to rule my life he's not trying to make my life difficult he's not asking something of me just to make me miserable he wants me to be in relationship with him I'm his child he loves me he loves me look at your neighbor right now and saying are you catching that you get that number four we are not saved by good works we are saved unto good works people have said well pastor your preaching works salvation no I'm not preaching work salvation let's look at the verse visions 2 8 and 10 for by grace are you saved through faith if you ask me tonight how are we saved we are saved by grace through faith that's what the word says and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast for we are his workmanship watch this now created in Christ Jesus unto good works or for good works amen which God before ordained that we should walk in them number 5 God gives us three holiness teachers to show us how to live a life that pleases him this is gold so let's write this down number one is the Bible the Bible that's why Paul said in second Timothy three all Scripture is given by inspiration of God it comes from God if it is black and white in the scripture it's for us today it is the Word of God it's the Bible that's a holiness teacher number two spiritual leadership now I've referenced these verses but when you read Ephesians chapter four you will see where God gave gifts to the Church one of them was a pastor a teacher an evangelist a prophet and an apostle what does the scripture say why did he give those gifts for the perfecting of the Saints the completing of the Saints for the work of ministry that's one of our teachers of holiness and thirdly is the Holy Spirit the Bible says the Holy Spirit will lead and guide you into all truth now here's the great thing the Lord in His sovereignty allows all three of these to work in unison together corporately now the Bible also teaches that there are three kinds of holiness standards to which God expects every mature Christian to adhere every mature Christian to adhere the first one is Bible standards these are commands in Scripture black and white right there in Scripture number two church standards number three personal standards whereas Bible standards are commands Church standards many times are given as principals personal standards are promptings from the Holy Ghost and they can differ one person to a next I'd like to compare this to a home there is what the law says that's the command of the law in a home there is what the father and the mother say but then there's also what the children decide all of those are were at work in the same home amen number six God demands an external witness of our internal holiness Matthew chapter five and verse six let your light Jesus teaches says let your light so shine what's those next two words before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven let your light so shine before men let your light your life your actions your conduct let it shine before men that they may see your good works and bring glory to God in the midst of that now I was driving today this afternoon and the Lord just prompted me to second Corinthians chapter five and I won't go there tonight and teach from this but Paul says this he says you are ambassadors for Christ I think this is second Corinthians 5:17 2:20 is the passage he says you are ambassadors for Christ as though Christ was imploring the world through us be reconciled to God you know here's a good thing and maybe you can do this over the next week look up what it means to be an ambassador that's a pretty powerful analogy that Paul gives do you know what and I'll just give you a little sneak peek an ambassador goes to a foreign land with no message but the message of the country that sent him he doesn't go espousing his own ideas he is a representative for in our case the president the Congress our country he is representing us to a foreign land and he doesn't have the right to spout off and say you know what I know the president said this in the press yesterday but let me tell you my idea that's not what an ambassador does an ambassador goes with a message from a higher authority than his and represents that to a foreign land so we are called as ambassadors we are called also to let our light shine number seven in your notes holiness is not about being conformed but about being transformed do you know what the word conformed means in Romans 12 verses wanted to do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind to be conformed is to be pressed into a mold don't be pressed into the mold and like I just tell you something folks in a lot of different areas of our life do you know what the culture of our day is wanting to do they're wanting to press us into their mold what the culture says a man is what the culture says a woman is what the culture says a marriage is what the culture says a family is and yet in God's providence he spoke through an apostle to a church in Rome and said don't be pressed into a mold but rather let there be a transformation that comes inside of you don't be pressed into a mold be transformed in your mind and in the way that you think here's the thing we're we're number eight and I'm done if we can get it right here about holiness we'll walk it out right because every action starts right here one of the great prayers that we can pray when we leave this session tonight is God help me to embrace you're holding us the way you're holy right here in my mind baptize my mind with your word because folks I'm going to tell you something when this starts clicking in our minds it doesn't become a hardship it becomes a walking out of gratefulness and thankfulness to God that I'm his child and he wants me to be separate amen number eight in your notes the last one and this is the tease for when the way I teach again because holiness principles deal more with creation than with our culture God's Word emphasizes them differ only four men and four women when we come together again and you can just kind of turn your page over there and and just look right up here just I'm gonna let you loose here in just a minute please hear me tonight I'm not teaching about denominationalism here I'm not teaching about trying to get people to go back to the 1950s this is not about culture this is about how God created us and if we look you know we're the very first passage we're gonna look at in a couple weeks after small-group wednesday you know what the very first passage we're gonna go all the way back to the book of Genesis because do you know where holiness starts being taught in the Bible in the book of Genesis all the way back in the book of Genesis and because holiness has so much more to do with creation than it does culture it emphasizes holiness differently there are some things that are very standard between the genders but it emphasizes things differently between men and between women now I know this is going to come as a shock but buckle your seatbelts this is like the revelation of the night you ready men and women are different some of y'all are going he's getting it he's doing better he's coming along let's pray right now I feel the presence of God here I want him just to seal what we've heard tonight lord thank you so much that you give us the greatest goal of holiness and that's to be like you so God would you just seal what you've spoken to our hearts tonight and Lord I have prayed about this tonight and I've asked you to just come in and to deal with my heart and to help me to be obedient to what your word says so I'm asking you to clarify all of these things in my mind as I go to bed tonight Lord let it be a part of Who I am let me live for you not out of duty but out of relationship Lord would you allow the power of the Holy Ghost to just sweep across this place over this next couple of months Lord what we're talking about and what we're discovering here in these Wednesday nights is so important because it's you that we want to be like so teach us to be like you through your word and for that and because of that I will thank you and I will give you praise in Jesus name Amen amen praise God
