Hello OG! Welcome to our Modern Tropical House in the city. Let's go inside! Upon entering, this is our Lanai in front of the house. This is my sister-in-law, my niece, and my mom. This is where we relax most of the time. As you can see, we planted a Kalachuchi Tree (Frangipani) So that there would be shade here. You can also see the pond, which gives a refreshing feel whenever we hear it. This table in the middle is a mango tree trunk. My old client gave it to me, instead of throwing it away. So, I turned it into a table as a focal point in this area. The dream of building this house started one day when my mom told me, "The houses you design are beautiful; I hope me, and your father can live in one someday" That's where it started for them. And I told myself that I'd make them a retirement house that they'd be able to enjoy for the rest of their lives. Before we go inside, This is our garage. 2 cars can fit here. The roof that I used here is a solid polycarbonate roofing Its purpose is to give light to the dining area inside. I used stone tile claddings These slots are made of steel So that I can achieve a villa feel outside of the house. Now that we've seen outside, Let's go inside. We're now here in the living room. The design uses a high ceiling Because that's what we've been deprived of from our old house. Here you can see our side garden. That's my favorite plant, a Thai Constellation. There's also a sliding door here for cross-ventilation This is where the prevailing wind comes from, we also have other sliding doors where natural air passes through. The chandelier is locally supplied. It became a centerpiece for the area for its unique design. I got the inspiration from the style of architecture that I promote, Which is Tropical Architecture. I wanted this house to be like a villa or a resort, So even if you're in the city it would feel like you're in the province, because there's plenty of trees, And at the same time promoting natural lighting and ventilation at home. The planning we used here is called Open Plan. The living area is connected to the show kitchen So the house looks more spacious. I also like collecting paintings. This painting is by Nell Campos. Here's the sliding door that connects to the garage. Sometimes we open this door when we have guests So, it's connected to our dining area. I also placed clerestory windows That can be seen above the dining and living room. Its purpose is to remove the hot air that builds up in the ceiling during the summer. This is the main kitchen or clean kitchen. The main highlight is the wine collection of my father. He was the one who organized it. There's an induction stove here for reheating food. For materials, granite for the countertop And porcelain tiles for the backsplash. We hid our water dispensers inside this cabinet So it won't look bad. At the same time, our refrigerator is black so it matches the cabinets. Let's go to the dirty kitchen. We're here in the dirty kitchen. I used light colors due to limitations in the lighting As we are right up at the edge of the firewall. I used a solid wood countertop Used for preparing the food since the space is limited. I used the same materials here from the main kitchen, Porcelain tiles for the backsplash and granite for the countertop. This is our laundry area. We invested in a washer with a dryer because the space is limited. This is also our drying area and storage. I used a solid polycarbonate roofing So that we can still dry our clothes even if it is raining. Our storage cabinets also reach the ceiling for all the clutter in the house. This project is very special to me because my clients are my family. The most memorable moment here in the house Is during the time we celebrated my father's birthday. Also, the blessing of the house. Unfortunately, after three months, my dad passed away due to a heart attack. I'm still thankful despite what happened, he still experienced his dream of owning a house. The pros are that I know what the family needs in a house. Cons are because you want to do a lot of things, it gets confusing on what to prioritize due to the property being small. This is the area that leads to the rooms. This is our altar and my father's. We decided to place his picture here so we could always remember him. I know he's very proud of all of us. As we go along, we placed our family pictures here too. These are our memorable moments with our father. The blessing of our house. My brother's wedding. Our very first family picture together. This door is where our common bathroom is. We used stone tiles for the wall and floor so it would look tropical. I bought this property last pandemic. It's an old house, but we eventually had it demolished. The lot size is 240 sqm. The floor area is 150 sqm. I used sustainable materials in building the house. PVC ceilings for the exterior. I also used driftwood inside, so, the throwaway woods get refurbished. I made use of it to beautify the interior. I also used long-lasting material. The cabinets are made from marine plywood So, it won't absorb moisture. All areas, as much as possible, are tiled. so that it lasts long. Let's go to the first bedroom. This bedroom is my sister's bedroom. The room has a different vibe from the others. I chose to make it colorful. It's small yet functional. The second bedroom, Is used by my brother's family. It's bigger than my sister's bedroom since they're a family here. Let's now go inside the master's bedroom. In the master's bedroom, My mom has her bathroom. This is her bathroom We used the same concept from before, using stone tiles. This is her bed. Above the bed, there's an art piece with indirect lighting. This one is her wardrobe cabinet. I made it with tinted glass, so it looks more spacious. She has a reclining chair here with a spotlight for when she wants to read. She also has some lighting here, a spotlight. The total amount spent for the house is 4.8 million We also went a little crazy shopping for appliances and furnitures and other objects we're gonna include in the house. We reached a total of 5.6 million. My advice for children who want to give back to their parents "It won't be measured in any amount as long as it comes from your heart" Welcome to our secret garden This is where my mom meditates most of the time This is where she takes her zoom meetings with her churchmates On this side, is where the side garden I mentioned is. The bedrooms have a view of this. As you can see here, we used fake grass. It's easy maintenance, you don't have to water it. At the same time, if it's raining, the rain goes straight to the soil under Thank you for joining me in touring our modern tropical house in the city. To all those children who want to give back to their parents, Keep going and do your best for your parents. We won't be able to be with them forever. That's it! Thank you very much and Goodbye!
